Very detailed! I cleaned out my power supply from this guide! Note: You dont need to use glue, just gotta tighten the screws snug, And you might have to yank the cover off due to the glue, but in general this guide is detailed and good!
Thanks for the tips and instructions. You saved me money. More importantly, it gave me an idea to buy a backup console. I'm a very late adopter and with the Xbox360 becoming two generations behind, I can buy a backup console very cheap.
My Xbox 360 Slim, hasn't been working for over 3 years. First all of my three remotes died, fixed one. Then the Xbox itself didn't start. That's when I noticed the red light on the Power pack. I found your video and FINALLY IT'S WORKING, far better than ever before 😍. The fan was so damn dusty, that it didn't even rotate. Thank you for this easy to follow, quick fix video.
Guys DO NOT just blow air on the fan like that!! It will burn the motor out and it won’t work anymore. Before blowing the air on the fan and letting it sound like a saw all you do I hold a blade down or stick a pen in between blades to block it from spinning
Was playing Assassins Creed 2 and my system just shut off. Tried turning it back on and I got the red ring of death and shortly after I smelt a little burning smell. I feel that my power brick over heated but this is the first time I ever played with the brick so I have no idea why it happened.
Amazing vid I have the same screws set! One question is mine stopped working and it made a weird buzzing noise I'm not sure if it is safe to do this is it ok? And plus if I do open it how can I prevent myself from an electric shock? I can't replace it because 1. It costs 60 dollars for an official Microsoft power supply replacement (which is kinda ridiculous) 2. I'm not buying a third party power supply because 1.they make a lot of noise. 2. Craps out every week 3. They don't use quite the right power for my xbox and 4. They are unknown crappy Chinese brands that are CHEAP. Any support that would be great!
Luckily mine has regular screws. There was rattling inside it, so I didn't want to plug it into my 360 in case it damaged the 360. I opened it just now, and the rattling was a blob of solder, I looked around and can't see anything that it could've come off, so I'm thinking maybe someone made a repair once and the blob of solder was just access solder. If that blob of solder had ended up moving into a particular place and making a bridge for a couple of components, the power brick could've been toast, plus maybe it could've harmed the 360 too. Anyway, I've took out that blob, put the brick back together, plugged it into my 360 and it seems to work fine.
When I cleaned mine and turned it on disassembled there was no noise but when I reassembled it , it started making the noise again? Is it alright if I just play it disassembled?
I bought one of these used and opened to clean it, the thing was infested with dead roaches, so gross. Never had roaches where I live since it is really cold for them.
Hey hi,I have reassembled my Xbox 360 after lot of days, the box was dusty.initially the power brick was green but while playing it turned off and the power brick turned red.should I open it and clean or change the brick?
It turned out to be the PCB getting stuck on the corners, so one was elevated and prevented the cover from connecting smoothly Rookie mistake on my part because I was stressing out
I am not 100% sure but I would say no. Each system draws different amount of power which can result in undesired behavior. I am not sure if anyone have performed and test on the power supplies
It could be that it is overheating, the fan might not be working or it does not like your xbox for some reason( somethong might be wrong with the xbox) there moght be alot of reasons
watched this video. just opened mined and they massacred it the last time they opened it. thermal paste EVERYWHERE. even over the cord to seperate the 2 sides. so im unable to seperate for cleaning without damaging the unit. funny thing is i bought mine new from kmart like 8 years ago
Just as an FYI....I've had fan noise now for some time. I thought it was coming from my Xbox Slim itself so I replaced that fan with a new one. Noise came back with a vengeance. I couldn't figure this one out. So I took the brick and the Slim to my table. Plugged in the brick and immediately heard the fan noise was coming from that....not the Slim. Took it apart...ten yrs of dust and grime. Put everything back together and the fan would not work. Found replacement fans on eBay and other places. ALL of them from China with varying delivery dates....really varying. So maybe in a month I'll get the fan and install it. I only have a Xbox for Netflix and DVD's, so I'm running the brick without the fan.....don't care if it gives up the ghost while I'm waiting for the fan. Old game system.....lots of parts floating around yet and I'll just get another brick if I have to.
@@TeckDrivenTeck As an update...the brick shuts down without this fan....it's not just overkill, it's essential. So I dug my old one out of the trash and worked it some more. It starts and runs if the brick is elevated and on its side. Noisy, but as I said I'm waiting for the new one from China.
@@vPRiiXX Fan was easy to install and fixed the problem. It was exactly like the original. Only noise I hear now is from the reader and it's insignificant. Moral of this story is to take the brick and Xbox somewhere where you have easy access and you can listen for the noise. Accessing Netflix and everything else with the Fire Stick now. Only using the Xbox for DVD's.

Tip for everyone of you don't have security screws just break the pin with a flat head screwdriver then take t10 screwdriver than unscrewed it
With a hammer
t10 screwdriver not unscrewing it

i would recommend an electric pressure air duster. last i bought one it was about 20 bucks. save you alot of money on air duster

Bye bye bearings = saw noise
I legit just found out there was a fan in here today, at this very second
I don't know what's wrong with my own Xbox 360 but when I'm playing a game it will just off by himself but you're not a problem
When was the last time you cleaned your system? It may be overheating
Same

Is that a t10 or t11 because mine only have the hole in the middle t11 and up
Grazie ha ripreso a funzionare
Can I use the fan outa this one for Xbox one power supply
Is it okay to us the dust can on an unopened adapter to clean it or do I have to take it apart?
Its ok to use dust can, sometimes the dirt can get on the fan. Depends how cloged it is. Just make sure it is unpluged when you do it
Can help me with mine

Ebay or facebook, you can get them at a fair price. Buzzing could mean the fan is failing or the transformer. Usaly buzzing is not a good sign
Ok thanks for the support
When ever I play fortnite and I play couple games my xbox wanna turn off is it because I have to clean the power brick?
Most likely the console is overheatimg and not the power brick. But is just my guess

Its good that you cought that. That wouldnhave been bad if it connected terminals
shouldn't let the fan free spin like that when you blew it out. You ruin the bearing since its spinning faster than it was designed to spin.
How I turn it off bcz It's make so much noice pls can u do video about my problem

It can be disassembled but it might be not safe if someone touches it
Hi bro my xbox power supply has orange light and wont on i tried everything but it wont on what do i do??

Sorry but mine doesn't have a screw it has this long rectangle inside....how do u open those?
You need a security screw bits. Link in the description for details
@@TeckDrivenTeck Like, which bit?
So I have like a small screw driver that fits it perfectly but it will not come loose at all
Try applying pressure on the screw
My PSU is being a pain to reassemble, the cover won't reattach on the LED end
Make sure the divider where fan is, is sitting in properly sometimes it can comeout and provent from closing
It turned out to be the PCB getting stuck on the corners, so one was elevated and prevented the cover from connecting smoothly
Rookie mistake on my part because I was stressing out
Where are you getting them for $5 ?
Yard sales, facebook, craigslist

Sir where can I buy an ORIGINAL Xbox 360 power supply?
Best place would be ebay or facebook marketplace
Alright thank you sir!!
Damn cant get hands on these screws ):
These Microsoft Basterds make it so difficult to open these things so you go to them and a new one
yap yap yap !!!
