Thank you kind sir this helped me greatly, I don't get why they have blocked the vents from the motherboard itself, how can dust flow freely if there is plastic blocking it
Thanks man didn't know how to open mine kept turning off the xbox because of the thermal sensor ventilator was stuck in the layers of dust xD. Never had ventilator stuck this bad lol
The T10 sockets on my adapter have a small metal pin in the middle, meaning that the T10 head can't get in. Is there any other way to get the case off?
Is it bad that my fan was already exposed ??!! … like it was just laying on top of the motherboard when I took off the first cover.. taped to the cover and plugged into the mother board
went to take the screws out, the first two stripped with absolutely no problems. barely any resistance just ripped the screws apart. i’ve never taken it apart before so i didn’t overtighten the screws. step 1 is a fail so i can’t even get the half’s apart.
I'm sure it will work initially, but the components will degrade faster and eventually burn out quickly. How fast this might happen for the power brick is unknown. If the power brick destroys itself, it could send a surge of power to the console and kill it too. Think of it like a car that doesn't have any coolant. The car will initially turn on and run fine but start driving it down the road and you'll start hearing knocking as the engine overheats and becomes warped and eventually destroys itself because it can't cool down quick enough.
I just recommend it because I use it and it has the bits needed. I listed the 3 types of bits needed also so you are free to find something that will work for you. Most UA-cam videos say what they are using because usually you get a lot of comments asking what it was. I like to provide as much info as possible to help as many people as possible. Do you know what causes a power brick to go bad? Mine took a dump recently. Bought a new aftermarket one. The original had the amber light on but every time I touched the power button I would here a very faint turn on chime but the system wouldn't turn on. I've had it for years. Maybe it just got old.🤷♂️
That exact symptom is one or multiple capacitors going bad. Check out this post to see what some bad ones look like. www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/gm1ljq/faulty_capacitors_in_xbox_one_power_brick/ So technically you could just replace the bad capacitors but you would need to understand basic soldering and own a soldering iron and purchase the capacitors. Alternatively, aftermarket power bricks are cheap. If you do own a soldering iron then you should be able to just buy the capacitor and fix it for around $2.
I though I could take my power box apart and clean the fan out pretty easy. but the inside of my powerbox makes me think the fan isn't the issue. that silicone goop is just lathered all over the board. I looks like an absolute bukaki
I didn't have the tools able to open this, but it works when I plugged it in a outlet then plugged the cord to the brick. But it just stops working when I plug it in my Xbox one. Please tell me what's the issue I'm not technical savvy
Since that piece is already damaged, I would just take a philips head screwdriver and chisel out only the plastic piece in the hole that would be attached to the rubber. I know it's not the best solution but it's something I think anyone can do and the damage should be localized to that hole and not the rest of the power brick.
Sorry for the super late reply!!! I hope you figured it out. If not, what exact part are you stuck at? You can tell me what minute you got stuck at based on the video. If you did get the top off I'd be glad to hear what caused the issue.
I had exactly this problem, and basically I just needed to pull hard as there was some sort of white compound sticking it down. Wiggling it and pulling eventually got it off with no damage
It may just be the angle and the video is never still enough to tell but is that purple capacitor starting to bulge? The one by itself on the lower right of the supply (near the three green ones)? If so, you're gonna want to change it out. Either way, nice video! PS: the real danger isn't the caps you pointed to but the massive two on the other side (the ones laying down). Those will absolutely hurt you if charged and you bridge them with a finger or hand
Good morning bro, tell me, the xbox 360 power brick fan work for a replacement piece on x one power brick? My power brick fan on og xbox one didnt work anymore, and i have a good power brick of my old 360 here, can i use the fan in my x one power brick?
If it is the og Xbox one then it may work. I can't find the exact dimensions of the fans but the housing looks very similar. They are both 12v so that is not an issue. I would give it a try. If it does fit please let me know.
@@MikeLikesThat sure brotha, i already change some capacitors but the power brick constantly power off randomly, and i running out options, the white light turn on but they turn orange minutes after
For the power supply featured in this video I don't have it in person, but based on the footage I believe the intake is from all the holes on the glossy side and the exhaust is on the matte side. This is based on how the dust build up is mostly in the fan cage and not all the other holes. If this is the case then blowing air into the matte side will most likely do nothing when cleaning the device. You will at least have to get to the fan cage to clean out the dust buildup. Alternatively, if you see dust build up on the matte side through the slits, then you may be able to use tweezers to help pool the dust balls through.
So I did all the cleaning and stuff , the brick orange light comes on but the Xbox is not turning on, what could be the issue, before it used to shut itself randomly in an hour or in a minute
I know they do have different variations of the brick but should be relatively the same. Out of the two models I have taken apart they were removable. They may not be removable in others or may need to be disassembled in a slightly different way.
@@MikeLikesThat thanks man n it seems weird as there's no screw holes or clips or anything seems fused together there is a joi line but even with some force it won't move even slightly. Bruh. didn't know that there is a fan inside. im worrying so much because of the buzzing sound coming from the adapter, until i saw that there is a fan inside. so its normal to have a slight buzzing sound.
The buzzing sound is most likely due to the fan being dirty or failing. All electronics give off a high pitched tone but a buzzing sound could be the fan.
Hmm... my instructions did not show to break the fan wire. If you broke it by accident then you can look for a replacement fan by looking up this part# AB5512HX-G00 on Amazon or eBay.
The T10 sockets on my adapter have a small metal pin in the middle, meaning that the T10 head can't get in. Is there any other way to get the case off?
You would need a T10 Security head to open it up. An alternative is to use a small quantity built flat head screwdriver. With the flat head being small you can wedge it between the center pin and the star points. You can then remove it like a normal screw or you might actually break off the center pin so you can use your T10 bit.
