The massive ball of corpses is a boss from several Castlevania games known as Legion, or Granfaloon. This adaptation is absolutely incredible. 10 out of 10.

This was definitely new to me. Never seen a brainwashed horde used like THAT before in a show. I feel so sorry for those innocent people. Going from mindjacked by a crazed magician into slavery... Only to die by a night creature or fall and then be turned into a night creature and their corpse is inhabited by a soul from Hell itself.
Well... going by the fleaman's account... i'm pretty sure SOME* of the people from that city will find themselves with a new chance on earth ;)

But to be more serious, it's all relative - in this scenario clearly Isaac is the relative hero and this old wizard is the relative villain hence the hero won
Trevor and Sypha defeated the creature, St Germain sealed the infinite corridor and reunited with his lost love = heroes won
Alucard didn't really win or lose but he became a bit darker of a character and learned a bit about the world i guess
Hector you could easily argue went through an overall benefit in season 3, compared to the end of season 2 for him.

Hector seemed more focused on mass producing undead armies like zombie and such, meanwhile Issac made the much stronger yet obviously rarer demons.
Also the fact that 2 army production lines is far better than 1
@@alexrecrem9094 Hector creates strong and stable handiwork. Blue Fangs (the night creature who killed the Bishop) and the ones who nearly overpowered Trevor in the Belmont Hold were his creations. He treats his night creatures well, does his best to return them calmly, and does what he can to repair the body before forging. He's also capable of direct necromantic resurrection, as was the case with the Bishop- returning him to life with the same powers and knowledge he originally held.
Might surprise you, but hector is actually the better of the two in the art. See Issac just pulls whatever out of hell, the soul makes the body and that usually results in more veritable and unstable forms, while Hector can CRAFT the bodies that are made, he puts a lot of love and care into his craft.
Fun fact: Legion, in its first phase, ALWAYS do that attack (launching corpses from the main body, into the floor) so that's actually really game-accurate. As well as disturbing

They have to gather an insane amount of resources and have Hector make them into night creatures first to be able to match Isaac's numbers as of now. If Isaac attacked right now using the mirror after making his new army he would destroy them. They need more time and resources to be able to fend him off. And you might think that vampires are going to count for something but remember how Isaac is very capable of taking down vampires all on his own. Now imagine him with an army of beasts, their castle will be overrun within minutes.
Isaac is the absolute goat. He might be a villain but he's my favorite character. His loyalty to Dracula was really admirable and he doesn't get manipulated or used by others unlike another forge master *Cough* Hector *Cough*. Plus he can fight really well despite being only a human and a summoner. Edit: Holy crap thanks for the likes guys =/

Seeing Isaac make night creature Goliath from just one corpse really makes me wonder just what limit his magic actually has
I like to think that probly was his limit, as he doesn't make any more night creatures after that and only fights with his knife.
I think he does not have much controll over which demon comes from hell.

Isaac was always a great forge master, but I think this scene indicates that he's gotten even stronger in his time since leaving Dracula.

This episode was a true masterpiece. Isaac vs Legion was the most perfect combat I've seen so far in the series, 10/10
Makes you wonder why Dracula didn’t use these Forgemasters for combat earlier considering how powerful their abilities are.
It’s mention that Dracula didn’t really have an organise plan for his war cause his depression and basically wanted to kill himself and other vampires in a unorthodox manner
Probably cause they are human and can be killed as easily as one if caught off guard, so Dracual probably thought they were too valuable. Thus the castle was the safest place for them
I mean, we could all tell he had no plan. He was grieving and went mad. Insane enough to hurt his own son and decide to bring an apocalypse for both the humans and vampires.
Dracula's plan
1. Build an army
2. Kill everything
3. Be sad
4. Repeat step 3. INTENSELY
Hector as we've seen so far hasn't shown to be a strong fighter and Issac being a good fighter is coincidental I think. Their purpose was to lead the armies and create more forces, not to fight.
Considering Isaac was my least favorite character in the entire game series, I did not expect him to be my favorite character in the anime. They took a one-dimensional, cliched villain with a lackluster design and turned him into quite possibly the most compelling character in the whole franchise. Major props to this show, the greatest game adaptation of all time.
His red hair was cool but he was a psychopath lol.
I have never been so disappointed in my life when I saw the Isaac from the games. Boring af to look at. Not sure if godbrand was the same in the games or if he existed at all but game isaac reminded me of him with none of the charm. Thankfully the only thing this Isaac shares is his name.

Isaac is my fav character and im honestly rooting for him. I like the way he interprets his faith and relationship with God, and how he, like the demons, understand that God has abandoned humanity for their sins. The only way to save them from their sins now is to release all the souls from hell, let the doors "rattle in the wind".
That would unleash the apocalipsis, killing thousans of inocents.
And God has not abandoned humanity, it's been mentioned from time to time that God actually protects people... andd grant them his grace as with that proper father from season one.
Thing is, regardless of our opinions on the matter, humans are scum. Very much so. And many of such deserve the treatment they get... which seen that this is written by Elis it's not as against religion as he usually is.
See, I don't get why the conclusion isn't "therefore, we should stop caring about YHWH and find some better gods to worship."
I like the small detail that even Issac looks a little disturbed by legion.

Isaacs ability to turn people into demons is both disturbing and badass
I love Isaac's creativity and strategic thinking! Talk about keeping calm during a crisis. Also, that legion magician may have been nuts, but he was no fool- creating a line of defense when he realized his soldiers were outmatched, corpse missiles, legion ball around the tower (realizing Isaac's strategy right away). So cool to see two intelligent, powerful sorcerers facing off for dominance!
Man I love how they depict how devil forge mastery works in this show. He's turning the parts of legion into his own personal army.

As a die hard fan of the series since the beginning, seeing Legion appear was amazing to behold. Also, when Belnades takes on Malachi at the end. A lot of good eastereggs and references in this.

Isaac is one of my favorite characters, and he has an amazing demon army
Same, but I feel disappointed whenever he gets mad at a few rude humans and goes back to "time to kill their entire species and open hell forever because a dozen people were mean to me." A character with such strength, loyalty, and discipline shouldn't be so devastated so easily. It frustrates me to see it.

And in Ocarina, the Ganondorf Future takes place after he's already taken over, which is part of the reason it works so well. The most grimdark it could even get is when Ganondorf is killing the Hyruleans (the citizens of Hyrule, not the Hylean race) and that's about it.

And ngl, if there was a "the townspeople go crazy and kill each other as the moon falls but it's fine because Link turns back time and we only put this in for obvious gratuitous gore" scene I'd probably stop watching immediately.
Isaccs journey and character development in this series was top notch. His original stance that humans don't deserve to live and should be wiped out is subverted when vampires betray Dracula and Issac is assisted and even saved in his travels by helpful humans. Then he sees this. Someone like he was in the beginning. Using human beings as tools and pawns. Disregarding them as things, and Hector's face says it all. He feels bad for these people and wants to kill the monster responsible. He then buries these people with dignity in proper graves and repairs the city so that eventually people can repopulate it. Brilliant character writing 🖋👍
Really interesting way to bring Granfalloon/Legion into the series.
That was the most unique Legion interpretation I have ever seen. Good job chara-designers on this show!

Can begin to say how much I cheered seeing this classic boss make an appearance. I remember infact fighting a version of it (it went by a different name) in Curse of Darkness itself as a out of the way boss in the one area you go into when you run into Saint Germain the first time. I saw others fight the older version of the boss too in old LPs. This makes me nostalgic and thankful the creators put this boss in.

The Symphony of the Night boss, Granfaloon, is named after a concept found in Kurt Vonnegut's 1963 science fiction novel Cat's Cradle. In the novel, a "granfalloon" is defined as a "false karass"; that is, it is a group of people who affect a shared identity or purpose, but whose mutual association is meaningless. It is a satirical reference to a group of high-minded people who share a similar belief. The group is described by Vonnegut as "a proud and meaningless association of human beings". The Granfaloon in Castlevania would be a literal representation of this ideal.

Just a random magician that Issac kills. He enslaved the town to form an army of laborers to build him a fortress or something. It's actually mentioned I believe that the towns folk can still feel pain and think and such so to them, it's an I have no Mouth, but Must Scream situation so death would be preferable to life.

When the bodies congregate together and reach towards the tower, the sound of their moaning is the exact same as the one from Aria of Sorrow when the bodies were shuffling towards the boss room.
Isaac is like Legolas from "Lord of the Rings" movies, this dude can handle everybody on his own.
Castlevania: The only series where the guy who stabs people in the heart and has their corpse possessed by a demon, and leads a demon army with the intent of wiping out the entire human race... is one of the good guys.

Isaac is in for a rude awakening when he fights the Vamps + Hector. Just sayin... now, if he teamed up with Trev Syph and Alucard then we have problems
I really appreciate that Isaac fights someone who's at the end of the road he's currently walking: a sad, lonely, pathetic little creep who sees other people as mere tools for him to use and discard as he sees fit. It forces him to see that he's wrong, which is always important to redemption arcs.

Issac and hector are complete opposites. Issac was out there getting shit done. while hector was getting played the whole season

The irony is, either of them could´ve had the other´s role easily, if they werent so different in their ways of thinking, Isaac would never put himself in the positions Hector does, whereas Hector never uses his powers to opress others and ends up being opressed instead.
Hector wants to get played deep down I feel like. Lenore understood that about him, he needs guidance and direction from other. In season 4 he will become like Isaac using his powers to conquer humanity and expand the Vampire empire.

Ottoman Janissaries, being originally the Sultan's best infantry troops, were mostly members of Bektash Sufi order, while Dervish ascetics were the main fighting force of Mahdi rebellion in Sudan. Also, before Wahhabism became a thing in Caucasus, most of the local Muslims were Sufi and this didn't prevent them from fighting Russia at the least (Ramzan Kadyrov, a pro-independence warlord turned pro-Russian bureaucrat turned current head of Chechnya, is a Sufi). So, it's not entirely illogical.
It makes sense, actually. Isaac is largely mirroring Sypha as an antagonist. Both are magick-users who are part of an unorthodox group of an Abrahamic religion: Sypha is a Gnostic Christian while Isaac is a Sufi Muslim, but while Sypha is an optimistic idealist who believes in humanity, Isaac is a jaded misanthrope whose disillusionment with people around him constitutes a large portion of his motivation. Also, while Sypha insists she's not a witch, but a scholar of magick as her powers are drawn from the nature, not from demons, Isaac is by her definition, a witch (warlock? witcher?) whose magick exiplitly relies on summoning demons and binding them to human bodies.
P.S. If you argue that a Muslim using such demonic magick wouldn't be a Muslim in the first place, there are some objections, mostly drawn from the fact he's, indeed, a Sufi. Firstly, Sufi ascetics are largely seen as Muslim freethinkers who don't care a thing about Shariah (it's far more complicated then that, of course, but their understanding of Shariah diverses greatly from what other Muslims consider the norm). Secondly, King Solomon in Islamic tradition is widely regarded as a sorcerer who commanded djinn with his powers and still revered as a holy prophet - and Isaac is certainly playing Mahdi (the supposed last Islamic prophet and messianic figure) with his ideas of being destined to empty hell with his powers, so he might see his use of magick as religiously justified.
The moment I saw all those bodies ball together I was like "Oh hell yes they're bringing in Legion!"
Funny how despite knowing Isaac fully intention, I am still routing for him!
