Update 2022. Just bought one. I got the Kawasaki engine option because I’ve hade great results from Kawasaki and Honda engines. Not so much from Briggs and Kohler. Now lists at $7999. I paid $6600 from a local dealer. That blank on the control panel is for a light switch if you get that option or want to add it. I wanted high end residential or entry commercial for my property and was looking at John Deere Z530. I’m a long time Deere guy. But they can’t compete with a stamped deck and non serviceable pumps with mystery numbers you can’t compare to others. Ferris was acquired by Briggs, but they still build these to the same standards and in the same factory (moved down the street) in upstate NY, USA.
This Mower is a Beast...it's the Bad Boy... Has a Midas Touch!! Ground Speed is for real, no joke!! It's worth the price tag.. Commercial or Residential...Buy it with no Regrets!!
I worked for a municipality years ago when I was around 21. They bought a brand spankin new big commercial Ferris. Don't remember the model but seemed like it had a 72" deck. It had a big Vanguard engine. It was very very comfortable but seems like we had some problems(?) with it maybe, not sure though. I was cutting a spot that I shouldn't have been in. I was trying to beautify a place beside a road that a tractor should have taken care of. I ended up hitting a metal object and bending a complete jack shaft/quill assembly. I ended up having to talk to the mayor about it! Lol. He knew I didn't do it on purpose and told me not to go back in that area. I liked that machine and it left an excellent cut. Seem like it was really fast too. It was a beast I know that.
I have always wanted to install a digital (or mechanical) engine oil temperature gauge in the empty spot on the dash. Guess it could be hydraulic temp too...or maybe both side by side.
I maintain ten 3100z mowers at work. They all have the 30hp Briggs Turf engine and honestly, the engine is the worst part of the machine. Ignition coils and lower sump gaskets are the most common problems. The lower sump gasket replacement requires the engine to be removed and the bottom half of engine to be taken off to replace the gasket. Had one governor gear failure as well. Had one hydro fail and about 6 front wheel caster bearings fail. Hydraulic drive belt tensioners last about 400-500 hours before they seize up. Same goes for all the pulleys on the deck. About 500 hours then they start to get loud from the bearings wearing out.
Yes unfortunately. Briggs and Stratton owns ferris so that's the only option on alot of there mowers ..the vangard engines are good but that commercial turf engine has had alot of issues...I do believe Kawasaki engine are also offered on some ferris as a option also just like snapper

It's confusing though because some say this is a residential mower but my dealer said it's commercial. I have the Kawasaki engine. Also, I can't figure out why the F series mowers are more high end but the frame is fixed. Seems like the IS mowers would be higher end. Am I missing something?
Jody C fefvnot residential its the cheapest pure commercial mower i kno of ...one thing really consitutes commercial grade mower ...the hydros...once u get past 3100 you are commercial....3100 are entry level commercial hyfros but most mowers that have them are advertised as residental ...the one reason y there is speculation also about the 600iz is the engine ...but i dont think thats a big issue
I hav a 680v Kala saki motor in my farris zero turn i had my farris 2 years now ot runs great ,cuts great , and rides really nice i never had any issues with it just ur General maintenance it takes me 3 hours to cut my grass when im dun yard looks really nice i hav no problems cutting high grass with it either or wet grass it duzz not Bog the motor at all great video nice pretty red mine quite not that pretty after 2 years i keep it clean and deck clean on the top and bottom i like to see videos on the new farris there GREAT Machines and pretty 💪💪😁😁
Can you get that mower without the suspension system? When I spoke to a Ferris dealer at a field day, the suspension added 2k to any of the models. You could probably get that mower a lot cheaper if you sacrifice comfort lol Good job Steve pumping out all these vids.

Yeah you can get this mower without suspension but for that you'll have to buy a Snapper. Briggs & Stratton bought both brands out sometime ago. They keep both brands separate and the things everyone loves about them. The equivalent in a Snapper would be the Snapper 560z. It looks almost identical but does not have suspension. The big surprise is the Snapper is not that much cheaper than the Ferris. Personally I bought the Ferris because if it's only a few hundred dollars difference 2hy not! You can get the same engines on both and both have the Kawasaki engine models as well. You'll get the Briggs equipped ones cheaper because Briggs makes their own engines so the cost is less.
I checked into it my dealer in fla he told me 5700 I tried to talk to him but no use he was not budging at all on price so as you can tell how I felt under 5 k I will take a 48 with icd cut that is a great price and cant say how good cut or mower is but the price is great now I just need to find a dealer in fla that can service it and sell it to me for under 5k

Forgot to ask...Is Ferris and Massey Ferguson still affiliated? I know they were back around 2006.
I have the new Ferris 400s zero turn, awesome mower, like you said definitely the best value for money on the market.

yea this time of year ...you should be at that price ..try to buy out of state if you can ...no tax

people with $5k to spend should look at ferris mowers and avoid tractor supply and big box store zero turns
