  • I've had this mower 4-5 years and 140 hours on the machine. My thoughts on if the suspension is worth it.

    Suspension is worth it. And as the years pass, and the built in suspension in your back begins to fade, the more you'll appreciate the Ferris ride. Oh, and the suspension seat is definitely worth the added expense.

    I love my Ferris suspension mower's! I have 2, a stand on Z2 52" and a Z3X 61" with suspension platforms. I have lower back issues and used to run a Exmark Lazer Z with suspension seat. After running that mower all day long I'd come home sore. A friend of mine suggested a Ferris to me after complaining about my Exmark. So I went to my local dealer and demoed one. I was very impressed by the comfortable ride compared to other mowers. It was a night and day difference. I'm so comfortable and happy with my Ferris mowers and definitely recommend them to anyone looking to try them out and enjoy the ride.

    I have the same mower, except with the Vanguard engine and the 5 qt oil tank. I mow several acres of very bumpy ground and with this mower I can do it FAST with a great cut in absolute comfort. Worth every penny! Build up on the deck is comparable to other mowers I've owned.

      @@rell5260 I mow 5 acres on my property, 2 of which used to be heavily farmed, so the land is rough. I also have had back surgery, etc. I bought a Ferris isx800 and can positively, without hesitation, say I am very, VERY glad I made this purchase! Sometimes I'll break the mowing into multiple days a week...because it is just that good!

    I mow 25 lawns and none of them are silky smooth. I'm mowing in a country town where I swear most of the lawns were fields that were just mowed until they had grass. In fact one of my lawns, my customer wanted me to add more lawn. That section was all goldenrod so the customer wanted me to brush hog it so I did. Then I started mowing with my Ferris 700. Talk about bumpy! After about 3 years or so it's beginning to look like a lawn. By that I mean it's green.That suspension is great! As I got used to the Ferris, I thought the suspension wasn't doing much. Until I got on my John Deere lawn tractor without a suspension one time. I suddenly appreciated that suspension on the Ferris all the more. I wouldn't be without it if I could help it.

    Ive had mine for just over a year and front shocks have given me issues. I was able to fix them but what happened was they looked like the shaft bent. At some point they fully extended and turned i dont know how to describe it other than take a fountain drink and push the straw to one side. I parked it next to a tree and used a rachet strap to pull them back where they needed to be. I haven't had a problem since and the suspension verses no suspension is night and day. I should have sprung for the seat too

    I took out the switch for the fuel tanks in my snapper pro 200xt. I put a barbed T in the switch's place. Now it draws fuel from both sides. I really like my snapper but i truly wanted that ferris

      Honestly a good seat and front spendel with shocks really is all I need but bad boy makes Mower with 3link suspension it's awesome and compared to exmark or ferris prices it's cheaper and still has the bigger hydro and Kawasaki engine I just don't have the extra money yet but I used there demo and was ready to make payments 😂

    All mowers get the build up under the deck. Invest in a good blower and just blow it right quick after each mow and you will avoid alot of the problem

    The suspension provides some cushioning for the operator, but the mower doesn't cut evenly because the deck is bouncing with the frame and suspension.

    • @coachvonyo
      @coachvonyo  3 роки тому +3

      Actually, they cut very flat. The deck is connected to the suspension, so when one corner compresses, it automatically lifts the deck in that corner to keep things level. Very impressive.

    • @danqodusk8140
      @danqodusk8140 3 роки тому

      @@coachvonyo The deck is connected to the frame. The frame is suspended from the wheels. When the suspension bounces, so does the deck. It's intended to give the operator a smoother ride. I don't know if it does, but it sure as heck doesn't keep the deck level!

      @@danqodusk8140 that is not how they work, just went and looked at mine to be sure. It moves/is hung from the suspension arm. Wish I could attach the pic. So for example, when the suspension compresses 1" on the front right (or left), the deck lifts 1" exactly at the same rate/speed. Mine mows flat as any other mower.

    I have the new ISX 800 and side bank mowing really sucks and becomes very unstable compared to a solid frame mower. The cut quality is not good as my Husqvarna PZT60 with a deeper deck. When I had my Husqvarna I rarely had to scrape my deck to there was no baffle to keep it from caking on the back side of it. I’m already looking to sell my Ferris and go back to solid frame mower.

    Thanks for the video. Ferris was on the top of my list until I sat on one. I really wanted the suspension, but the seat back leans back. I couldn't sit upright and that was uncomfortable. Have you experienced that? Is the back adjustable so it can sit more upright? I was on aIS 700.
    Thanks.

    Just picked up a 2012 IS2000Z with 800 hours for my residential 1-1.5 acre mowing. My first ZT. Got this since I have some steeper hills and wanted the weight and control of a smaller commercial model. Any tips or tricks with hills, or anything else with this mower to be aware of? Was serviced yearly, last time was in the Fall. Thanks!

    • @Paul0580
      @Paul0580 2 роки тому +2

      All "zt" type mowers will want to crab if you cut across the face of a hill and will slip to the bottom if it gets too steep. Be very careful to control your speed as you start down a hill face, too, since there isn't an effective brake system other than your skill with the controls. Probably would be useful to pick a pattern that has you going straight up the hill face where you can work that out.

      That's a check engine indicator for you. Take it to your closest dealer and they can hook it up to a computer to see the code. I just had this issue and it was just my o2 sensor in my exhaust. Luckily it was still under warranty or it would've been around $100 to repair. Good luck!

      Check your fuel filter. Also depends on how wet the grass is and hight of grass. I have a 1500z and a 700 is i believe your 1500 has a 21hp kawasaki. Its great for dry grass short cutting but it might be low hp for the grass and speed your cutting. You might just need to slow down for the height and moister of grass.

      Scott couldn't disagree more. Think I'm around 5 years of ownership now. Approaching 200 hours. The way the deck integrates with the suspension is seamless. Cuts flat even when working the suspension hard over rough terrain. Tires are even and still near new looking. Every 0 turn I've been on gets a little sketchy on majorly angled ground. I cannot tell much if any difference there.
