It got my heart racing when I was over sea about 100m out and guls started taking too much interest in my mini 2
I'm always worried a bird will accidently take out my low flying drone over water at the beach, hence I look out for our feathered friends just as much as I do other drones.

I had same thing happen filming a bridge in Oregon. They would fly so close really aggressively.

You can do it!
Flying over water is no different than flight over land. Its only problematic if your drone STOPS flying over water, 😆 Seriously, just don't fly to low or close to the surface. Unless your drone tends to drop from the skqayy like a stone. +Start small: kiddie pool or bathtub
Trust it and use common sense.
I went out to the local beach and took some video of the Queen Mary in Long Beach I’ve only been flying for two months I was a little nervous but I’m getting much more comfortable with it and it’s so so fun to see what you can see and the shots you can get just amazing. Now I want to get into filters and I know this is my favorite channel for the right information.I’m going to start with an ND 32.any setting information would be helpful.

Thanks for all these valuable tips! My DJI mini is coming in the mail tomorrow! I am planning on some dry land runs first and will hopefully get the nerve up to fly from camp to the next Island over water which is approx 500yards
I had to watch this to see what you mean how to fly over water. I never knew there was a special way to do it lol. I get it now.
Very helpful, thanks. Specially the last tip, not to fly back directly towards the strong wind but diagonal. Old navy echelon evasive maneuvering.

I've flown a handful of times over water, mostly rivers and lakes. One potential Hazard to keep in mind especially on Rivers is not only the trees and small branches that aren't easily seen but the discarded fishing lines and lures hanging from said limbs that are even harder to see. 😔

I took my Mini 2 to Huntington Beach, (aka Surf City) the other day and a huge wave almost got it! It came back a little moist with seawater! All is good 😊 thanks for the tips again!

I've had my Mini 2 nearly a week now but haven't had chance to fly it much yet, especially in the current (July 2022) heat where I'd be pushing very close to the 40ºC operating temperature limit. I'm picking up loads of tips from videos like yours in the meantime, which will give me much more confidence when I start using it a lot more 🙂 Thanks again. You also have a new subscriber 😉

Great tips. A week ago my mini 2 crashed into a tree and fell into a lake. I recovered it and it was soaking wet. I thought it’s gone! Once I came back home, I covered with a bowl of rice and let the rice absorb all the moisture for 5 days and to my surprise it flew like before with no issues.

Just be aware that water can cause damages to the drone in long term due to the oxidation of the electronic parts (even if you have succesfully dried it out completely) A friend had the same situation, but after a few months malfunctions started and he had to replace the drone. Not saying that the same will happen to you but keep an eye on it just in case...
yeah....apparently the minis are tough and CAN dip into the water and survive.- it's happened to many people a few times
sea water is salty and completely destroys electronics however. even some IP68 phones
Thank you for your videos and tip. I watched many videos about the mini 2 before I was able to fly mine. I got it during christams but de winter was to cold to fly.
The 3th time when I did want to film the playground I did spot some birds. I did. Follow them over the frozen sea. And whitout notesing is was more then 1.5km away. Mini did fly great. When I wanted him back I pressed return to home. Mini did go up and backwards!!!
Luckily the nose was in the right direction so I did lower is put it in sport and had no problem.
The next time I did film a waterfall. Hope to put that on on UA-cam after some of you sound tips.

Awesome bro. I took my mini 2 on its second flight in the mountains. It got pretty windy especially at 300ft. I flew towards the wind sport mode and used to the wind to come back. Next time I'll lower the drone

@@DMProductions There's nothing like it, especially near cliffs. I did a video yesterday along the Wicklow coast, but all of a sudden we were down to near zero visibility.... unfortunately my friend had one of my drones in the sky at the time 🤦🏼♂️

Flying water I would suggest take a good number of flights over land 1st as suggested.
Done the ferry thing and near run out of power on way back due to mis management of battery.

Did my first few flights over a lake the other day. Its terrifying but I like your first tip about trusting the technology. Might be the hardest thing to do when you first get into flying drones especially if you are coming from a much cheaper drone that was not reliable like I did. But once you start trusting the tech thats when the fun begins.
Yes exactly it’s very frightening but eventually you have to trust the tech
