Do you think it would be a good idea for me to get a DJI mini 2 se? I’m only worried because it doesn’t have any obstacle avoidance features. And also I’m 12 with no drone flying experience, but I do have big RC planes, and I have a good level of experience on them. Please reply to me back on your opinion, thanks! 😊

Man. I took mine out for the first real run. Been waiting for a nice beach day with weather and low wind. I learned a valuable lesson in that wind speeds on the ground can be significantly less than up high. My first outing and I thought I lost my drone. Got to an altitude and suddenly it just took off. Went higher than all the high rise condos. Got so high I couldn’t even see it anymore and I couldn’t tell from looking at the HUD if I was even controlling it at all. Thank god for that auto return. I manually initiated it and after an agonizingly long time, it finally came back. Got some really nice high altitude shots but wow was that scary. 😀
Yes! That does sound scary 😟 I’m glad that you got it back. Another thing to be aware of is wind direction, that can be misleading and an easy way to lose your drone. I explain a lot of these concepts in my drone course, check it out: www.fearlessdrone.academy 👈
The DJI Mini2 SE is my first drone. I am amazed at this little drone. For the price I cant imagine anything better. My second flight I flew it to the river and old church on a hill about 2 mile. Its very easy to know where drone is at all times.

Scared to death suggestion! When you first get it you want to test/play in the house. If you hit “fly now” you are going up 1.5 meters and hit the ceiling fan (did this). Suggest option, moving the two control handles to start drone without immediately climbing. Great video, thanks!

U missed one of my favorite tips, probably the one i have found most useful. Has to do with the zoom. If u hold the FN (function button, i believe it's called), and roll the wheel on your controller, the one u use to make the camera go up and down, it turns it into a zoom function. It's much smoother than trying to use ur finger to do it on the phone. Hope that wasn't too confusing. Take care. 🙂

Does the drone have sensors to keep away from objects? Does it have a control keep the altitude steady? Also is there a feature where u can select and object and it will follow it?

Really dig this video. My drone crashed after one day due ot my flying into a tree (newbie pilot for sure lol) and ent it back to DJI for repairs (take the Refresh Care package for 39€ itll save you a lot of trouble and costs) and I cant wait to fly again with these tips!
I think what you mean by "bar down the bottom" is the artificial horizon. If it tilts to one side without any pilot input, that's because the drone's flight control algorithm is banking it toward the wind to counteract drift.
Just got my drone and I had a question I live in the EU and in a small city but there is an “international airport” that gets about 1 flight a day. If I track the flights and know when the plans are coming in can I still fly, or what is the minimum distance I need to keep from the airport.
In Australia, you can fly a drone within 5.5 nM of the airport if you are not flying in the takeoff or landing path. You can also request authorisation to fly through the DJI Fly app.
Am I correct in saying that for the controller symbol to show you need to turn on locations in your phone setting. Untill I turned on this in my phone I was only getting the homepoint and drone symbol. I'm new to this and never operated a drone before so at the moment this is alien. If I'm correct, this information would be good if it was mentioned in these videos.
I wish I watched this video before I started flying... Three flights in my drone kissed a tree and I had to spend $145 to get it replaced. Just got a replacement and DJI care refresh and have plenty of tips in my pocket now!

just got my dji mini 2 se,,and i gotta admit,,its a far better drone than my holystone 720e,,in which i like also,,its a beast---but the dji is rock solid,,
I think a handy tip would be to tell people how to unbind the drones from the DJI account before they sell it on to somebody else who would get stuck with it and being left in their account
@@DansTubeTV I watched it. I think it’s a bit out of date though I think you can now unbind it on the fly app for the drones that used to fly up and I don’t know if restoring it to factory settings actually unbinds from your account
Appreciate you are using the lower end controller. The higher priced RC with the screen may well be vastly superior but for anyone looking at just starting with a drone, overall price point becomes key.
I am trying ti get photos f cars at a race track but they are blurry. What settings would you use to help handle the fast cars and keep them clear in a photo. I have a dji air 3.
If you had the drone with no max distance, is it possible to lose the drone after 6 miles (10km) from the controller or will it return home? Also, the subtitles was on in my settings and I never had it pop up during videos. I don’t know how it would because as far as i can tell the app doesn’t record audio.
By default the drone will return to home if it loses connection with the controller. The subtitles are related to the meta data that will be recorded to the file.

Exactly my situation with the Mini 2. Is it still possible to purchase insurance for a replacement on this device? Guy said he unbinded the account, but never did. It would be nice to receive a new replacement, as he lied about some errors that weren't apparent when first flown. Just an intermittent ESC error. Now other things I'm hoping to solve. @_AlienPhotography_
Hi i have a question so i have the Dji mini 2 se and had a question on why i can’t fly more than 500 meters before loosing connection or video on my phone lags like crazy. yes the intent is facing the drone but confused because it advertised 10km which should be 6 miles but i can’t even get .5 miles of distance. do you know what’s wrong
Where are you flying, if you have other interference or obstacles blocking the signal then you might have issues. You need to keep the drone in line of sight so 500 meters is ample range for a mini drone. I would suggest flying in different locations and trying to change the transmission channel (I show that tip in this video).
Ok, how do I re-enable audio recording from my phone / controller? I disabled it during setup but would like to have it active. I have a mini 2SE in the US

Hello, got my Mini 2 se yesterday and have figured out how to work it. (Not all features but basic flight and app usage) Q: I flew in small local park and even though I set max altitude to 500m, it only went to 100ft and the voice said "maximum altitude". This evening I flew at another park a bit more secluded and again it stopped at 100ft, I persisted pressing climb and it broke out of the 100ft ceiling. Can someone help me, what the hell are these "Flight Zones" Dji don't half make there apps complicated.Also can the drone do autonomous circle flight and waypoints? Rob

i am totally confused by this video there is no where in the mini 2 se settings where you can change the gimbles sensitivity, nor can you change the poi no compass etc ? i also noticed it say at the top mini pro 3 tips and settings yet the description is for the mini 2 se ?
@@DansTubeTV it is updated I only got it 5 days ago and the first thing it wanted to do was update the firmware on the controller and also the drone it's self, I can't find any other software for android apart from the software DJI have provided it, the only way I can change the rates on the gimbles is to put it in cine mode, is it possible you have different software to me because I am in the UK maybe mine isn't as up to date as yours ?

Hey Dan, I have just grabbed the dji mini 3 pro but can’t get active track to work. It doesn’t come up as an option on the RC controller. The wider internet says I have to enable something in the ‘control’ tab but it’s not on the software but is on all other vids I watch. Is there anything I can do to get it going as it was the primary reason I bought it. Cheers.

When I press RTH (even if my max altitude is set to 100m & my home is set) my mini 2SE tells me Landon and it starts to land. It does not return to the home. What am I doing wrong ? This is my 1st drone

@@DansTubeTV I'm a pilot. One thing we learn is the the wind ALWAYS blows up high. Ground winds are usually nothing like the winds aloft!

Tip 5 digital zoom. Hold down the programmable function button on controller, then use the gimble wheel for a smoother digital zoom.

You should be able to, press the icons in the bottom left near the map interface to change between the different views.

You can delete the cached videos from the DJI Fly app. That might help.

No obstacle avoidance sensors. The altitude will hold steady - it connects to satellites and holds its position. No following modes.

It will display the details on the screen and vibrate/make a noise but no call-outs.

I think a handy tip would be to tell people how to unbind the drones from the DJI account before they sell it on to somebody else who would get stuck with it and being left in their account

@@DansTubeTV I watched it. I think it’s a bit out of date though I think you can now unbind it on the fly app for the drones that used to fly up and I don’t know if restoring it to factory settings actually unbinds from your account

Appreciate you are using the lower end controller. The higher priced RC with the screen may well be vastly superior but for anyone looking at just starting with a drone, overall price point becomes key.

I'm having trouble hooking the controller to the phone and I'm having trouble getting started 😮
You need to download the DJI Fly app and then connect your phone to the controller. Power on the drone and controller and then you can fly normally.
If you had the drone with no max distance, is it possible to lose the drone after 6 miles (10km) from the controller or will it return home? Also, the subtitles was on in my settings and I never had it pop up during videos. I don’t know how it would because as far as i can tell the app doesn’t record audio.
By default the drone will return to home if it loses connection with the controller. The subtitles are related to the meta data that will be recorded to the file.

Exactly my situation with the Mini 2. Is it still possible to purchase insurance for a replacement on this device? Guy said he unbinded the account, but never did. It would be nice to receive a new replacement, as he lied about some errors that weren't apparent when first flown. Just an intermittent ESC error. Now other things I'm hoping to solve. @_AlienPhotography_

Hi i have a question so i have the Dji mini 2 se and had a question on why i can’t fly more than 500 meters before loosing connection or video on my phone lags like crazy. yes the intent is facing the drone but confused because it advertised 10km which should be 6 miles but i can’t even get .5 miles of distance. do you know what’s wrong
Where are you flying, if you have other interference or obstacles blocking the signal then you might have issues.
You need to keep the drone in line of sight so 500 meters is ample range for a mini drone. I would suggest flying in different locations and trying to change the transmission channel (I show that tip in this video).
Is it required to have an activated phone for navigation?
You will need to have an activated phone and DJI account to properly use this drone with the N1 controller.

Hello, got my Mini 2 se yesterday and have figured out how to work it. (Not all features but basic flight and app usage)
Q: I flew in small local park and even though I set max altitude to 500m, it only went to 100ft and the voice said "maximum altitude". This evening I flew at another park a bit more secluded and again it stopped at 100ft, I persisted pressing climb and it broke out of the 100ft ceiling. Can someone help me, what the hell are these "Flight Zones" Dji don't half make there apps complicated.Also can the drone do autonomous circle flight and waypoints? Rob

I couldn't catch how I can get to the "Device Management" menu in the bonus tip. Where is that menu located please.
If you go back from the flight menu and then press on profile. You will find all of your devices.

i am totally confused by this video there is no where in the mini 2 se settings where you can change the gimbles sensitivity, nor can you change the poi no compass etc ? i also noticed it say at the top mini pro 3 tips and settings yet the description is for the mini 2 se ?
Hmm, make sure that you update your drone. This was captured a few weeks ago on my Mini 2 SE.
@@DansTubeTV it is updated I only got it 5 days ago and the first thing it wanted to do was update the firmware on the controller and also the drone it's self, I can't find any other software for android apart from the software DJI have provided it, the only way I can change the rates on the gimbles is to put it in cine mode, is it possible you have different software to me because I am in the UK maybe mine isn't as up to date as yours ?
That is very weird. Are you using Android? Did you download the Fly app from DJI’s website?

Wondering why I can’t find the res and fps options?
Tap the auto button in the bottom right corner to turn the drone into PRO mode. You should be able to see all of the details then.

You could put your phone in a VR headset but I don’t think that the Mini 2 SE is supported on the DJI Goggles.

Hey Dan, I have just grabbed the dji mini 3 pro but can’t get active track to work. It doesn’t come up as an option on the RC controller. The wider internet says I have to enable something in the ‘control’ tab but it’s not on the software but is on all other vids I watch. Is there anything I can do to get it going as it was the primary reason I bought it. Cheers.

I think it's strange you can do 4x zoom in 1080p but only 3x in 2k, as it's digital zoom it would be clearer to zoom in more on the higher resolution.

When I press RTH (even if my max altitude is set to 100m & my home is set) my mini 2SE tells me Landon and it starts to land. It does not return to the home. What am I doing wrong ?
This is my 1st drone
I believe that you need to go into the settings and find the RTH command. It might be set to land instead of RTH.
Great tips but how do you get to the intelligent flight modes like follow me ect.
Follow me is not available on the Mini 2 SE. You can select the mode button on your flight screen above the record button to go into the different flight/recording modes.
