    Great vlog. Thanks for the insights on the app. Thinking of subscribing to it for my next marathon. Great to hear the chat function is good. That was my only worry, that you didn’t have that support. 👍🏽

    Great vid. I did their 6 week return from injury plan after not running since London. Currently in week 4 of HM plan. Love having a coach built into my watch, app so easy to use.

      I’ve been really impressed with the APP to be honest. I wasn’t expecting much, and I’ve been really surprised with how easy it is to use and the variety of sessions it plans. So far so good. What HM are you training for?

      It's just a Runthrough event in Battersea Park. Hopefully, if I can get through that without my ankle imploding, I've got Manchester Marathon booked next April. I'm not aiming for anything like my PB, which is very similar to yours. Sub 2 would do at this stage 🤞

    great review. btw, is hoka rocket x2 durable? good for daily training?

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  5 місяців тому

      The rocket x2 are awesome, Ive now ran several races in them and will be doing a review shortly. Regarding durability, they seem ok. They are race shoes, I wouldn’t wear them as daily trainers. I’d go for the carbon x2 if you want a Hoka shoe

    Surprised to hear you did no running during the pandemic. It was the pandemic (or the restrictions, really) which got me into running.
    Allowed out to exercise with no where to go - run there!

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  4 місяці тому +4

      I opted to rehab my shins after suffering 5 years with of pretty bad pain. Lockdown gave me a reason to stop, because all races were cancelled too, and to let my legs heal. That’s the only reason I stopped to be honest

    Hey Gimo,
    what Running Watch do you use with the Runna App and can you recommend it?

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  7 місяців тому +3

      I personally use a Garmin 935, it’s a fantastic watch and one I’d recommend. But Runna supports a whole host of different watches, I think you can see a full list on their website

    Does it talk you through the session , telling you what to do and when through your headphones?

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  5 місяців тому

      No, it sends pacing and times to your watch and you use the only screen display to manage your session. I’ll be doing a video on how this is managed in a few weeks

    I used the app and after 5 weeks embarrassingly I found out I was on the intermediate 5k plan , I thought some of the pacing was hard to keep on some workouts so I looked into my account and found out my mistake, I should of been beginner 8week plan, I feel like I wasted the first 5 weeks , gonna try again but gonna give Garmin race widget a go first as that’s free , be a good comparison, but I did like Runna , well set out and sync to Garmin watch

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  4 місяці тому +1

      Oh no, nightmare! Yes the pacing would have been a fair bit faster on the intermediate plan. At least you found out when you did, and managed to change it and get some training in and know for next time 👍🏻

    I’ve installed the app today to see if it suits me. I was surprised that they didn’t ask me anything about gender, age, weight, length. How do they build the right plans without any additional info?

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  7 місяців тому +2

      It bases your plans on the times you have previously ran. It will ask you for your last race times and it build your pacing from there. Age, gender, weight don’t really have any bearing on what you can run, your post times will dictate that. Hope it works for you 👍🏻

    I am curently on runna app doing my marathon training and here is my take
    The goods :
    - You have the flexibility to rearrange your training on weekly basis
    - variety of workouts on runs and strength
    - good integration with my garmin
    The bads :
    - too expensive (subjective)
    - not that interactive in the sense that what if you are feeling injured the app should have a way to gauge your every run.
    - no option to upload video on how you run so coaches can somehow assess you before going deep into the wokkout

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  7 місяців тому

      I’d agree with all the good. Personally o don’t think it’s too expensive when you consider how lunch and actual coach is. I used to pay £35 per month for personal plans, and elite athletes charge in excess of £100 a month for coaching. But yes it is totally subjective.

  • @eoincasey5461
    @eoincasey5461 4 місяці тому

    Are the coaches all generic pre wrote replies or do they talk to you individually? Like with a real coach they might change the plan or sessions based on how you are training, does this happen with the app?

    • @gimoruns
      @gimoruns  4 місяці тому +2

      There isnt any inplan adaptions other than the ones you make yourself as far as im aware. You can change the days you run on, or the number of days you want to run a week and theplan will adjust. You can also choose from the different levels of fitness from beginner to elite, and it will also adjust the intensity of your plan. But if you get a niggle for example, your plan wont adjust your running for you like a real coach would.
      The coaches comments i think are pretty generic around the session type and what to do, try and look out for during in your sessions. There is a chat section should you want to chat to a coach but i havent used that yet. Havent felt the need too.

    • @eoincasey5461
      @eoincasey5461 4 місяці тому +2

      @@gimoruns For that money a month there should really be some sort of way the plan changes based on how your training is going, even something like changing your potential finishing time based off of your training paces etc. I'm going to give it a go for a Half I'm doing in 8 weeks and see do I like it, bit disappointed it's not a bit more intelligent though if you know what I mean.

    • @gimoruns

      @@eoincasey5461 I do beieve that your times change based on how you are preferming against your sessions, but i cant be 100% sure. Its a good question and one im going to look in to more. Might even make a video based on this because its a really valid point.

      @@eoincasey5461You can adjust your training program at any time if you feel your current time is faster or slower than what it currently predicts 👍
      I’ve also messaged them recently within the app with a question about swapping run days and they got back to me within a few hours.
      So they are there to help you if their support faqs don’t have an answer for you.
