The most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. I hear it at least two times a day. Fuels my life. Funny, how the genius of others touches one’s life with such intensity. Artie, thanks. It seems like you wrote that song for me.
This is really nice... beautiful playing from the composer. I love Barbra, but this is Shirley Horn's song... agree Johnny Mandel's arrangement is as good as it can get anywhere. Thanks for posting this!
This is one of the most beautiful song of the last 50 years... Not exactly a "simple" song, but rather a timeless hymn, a religion song, if the religion could be so beautiful, as it's not. The combination of lyric and music is something that happens one time in the life of a composer and a lyricist... I understand why Shirley chose it immediately, why Barbara and many others singers love this stunning piece. Listen for the version of Loretta Holloway she can stay aside Shirley... Everybody can choose the version they like the most, but hear this song. It's healthy, a sort of panacea. remembering mark Murphy, Ulysses Slaughter and all the others great singers that sung it for our joy. Dear Artie, you will remain in our heart. Forever.
Dear artie thank you so much for this song everytime i play this i think of my mom and brother in heaven smiling at me i love the way anita wilson simgs this song and marylin scott so heres to life heres to you artie😊😊🎶🎶🎶🎶👏👏
What a beautiful song...Shirley Horn & Johnny Mandel..a match made in heaven..When I sing this song I can't get through it without crying..Thank you Artie & Phyllis for writing this gem...It will always be my #1 favorite......Here's to you Artie & The Late Phyllis Molinary..
An amazing song ! First time I heard , Here’s To Life , I immediately thought of my father. I read Phyllis’ amazing words in my closing comments of the eulogy at my fathers funeral. Here’s to Life just so perfectly describes life.....
I was given the chart by my dear friend and mentor Joe Williams and it has been my closing song almost every time I perform for the past 20 some years. Joe's and my versions can be heard on my UA-cam Channel by going to "Master And Student"
Thanks so much for this song. I have heard many versions. My favorite is still Joe Williams on the Tonight Show. I think of the words often. May all your storms be weathered.
This is precious. I can hardly imagine how it feels for you to have written this melody, then handed your baby over for another to make their mark (Phyllis). You sing it beautifully, authentically, it's my favourite version. You are a treasure. Thank you for the music, and may you continue to have music colour your life and the lives of those you touch for many more years to come xox
Artie, you may not remember me, but my name is Andre Enceneat. I am the stepson of the late, great Roy Glover, Jr. I met you once I believe when I was a teenager, and my mother Marjorie, mentions you for time to time. I am a teacher in the DC metro area, but I am also a professional jazz vocalist. I was asked to sing this song a few years back at a celebration of life for a local musician, and I fell in love with this song. Would love to sing it for you sometime. Take care and God bless.
Hi Andre, Thanks for writing to me. I was very fond of Roy Glover Jr. and think of him often and always with a smile. His picture hangs on the wall in my studio and I see his smiling face all the time. We came up in the music business together and while we were competitors, we were also the VERY BEST of friends. We had the most respect for each others talent and the most respect for each other on a human level as well. I also hold many fond memories of Marjorie as well. Thanks for writing to me and for your very kind words. Warmest regards, Artie Butler
@@melodyperson Mr. Butler...I'm a melody guy...a comment section needs a remark...but what can I say? You nailed it. It makes me cry, as does Pavrotti's version of Nessun Dorma, and Kinga's rendition of "Guess Who I Saw Today" Bless you, I hope I may shake your hand one day. barry dot nulph @ g mail dot com

It’s great hearing the composer sing his song.
I also think Bobby Scott (singer, pianist) would have handled it well.
To this great tune: ua-cam.com/video/14WDWvXlvxY/v-deo.html Thanks Mr. Butler, Thanks Mr. Molinary

This song is a stroke of genius. I wish you had a better piano at this performance, instead of a piece of junk clanker.
