I was a little late to the party, missed the live version. Currently live in Statesville, NC area after living just outside SMNP on the TN side for 7 years. Found your channel while researching backpacking. I’m now set to get out on my first overnight since doing my first trip in high school that was in SMNP. Best of luck to you on your trip! Super jealous!
Hi looking forward to your trail vlogs starting. I vlogged my entire hike last year and found that 1080P worked well. I recorded the first couple of weeks in 4K but it took forever to upload with that. My recommendation is to stick with 1080 for storage and uploading. Good luck to you!
Hello! So excited to watch your journey- New England is so beautiful you will enjoy that part! All the best to you as you prep for the biggest adventure of your life!!
Tennessee, turned on UA-cam saw you struggling, cute, you have a great sense of humor. I’ve been following a bunch of Thru hikers. Soo much better than the news.
Hello from Southern New England! Definitely invest in the Rawlogy Balls! Get the two pack of the travel size. I developed plantar fasciitis in both feet over the past year of hiking, and rolling out my feet has helped a tremendous amount! They're really small and light! So excited to follow your journey, as I try to get on small stretches of the AT whenever I can! Happy trails!
Thanks all for joining in for the live video! And for hanging around while I struggled to get it started. I had a great time chatting with you all! For those who asked, my Venmo link is in the video description. Thanks again!
@@appalachianadventurista June in Pennsylvania I’m 67 retired and will flip flop NOBO until Maine then return to Pennsylvania go SOBO. Woo hoo I’m so excited. Daughter getting married then I’m in the woods. Hahaha 🤣
I'm really surprised to hear you plan to stick to such low miles even when you just did that big day on Foothills! The people who injure themselves out there are stubborn and do not listen to their bodies. Micro fractures and tendinitis are real common, not to mention sprained or broken ankles, but you are way ahead of that crowd. Just watch each step, take it one step at a time, listen to your body and you can do 20 mile days pretty early on. The recuperation timenis the real issue and that is worse when you get older so shouldnt be an issue for you
Very true. I do still want to ease in. My body won’t be used to carrying a pack every day for substantial mileage. While I’ll probably be able to jump up in mileage soon, I want to start below my threshold to build up my endurance.

4k is only good if you've got hours upon hours for files to render etc
