Watching you walk through that tall swamp grass makes me glad that had to jump north to Massachusetts and hike to Katahdin, doing the middle miles in the late fall, after that stuff dies back. Mosquitoes are bad here, too. Into Vermont in two days. Tinker. Loving your vlog. Watch those bears! 19:36 Housatoxic River. Badly polluted with heavy metals. Don't drink from it, filters won't make that water safe! Take care
Another great video. Your doing good. I'm so enjoying following your trip. Your right in thinking that it's all about the journey, not the destination. But I do hope that you see the entire trail to completion. Wishing you and your trail mates safe and happy steps. Keep up the positive attitude. You so inspiring.
You look so happy! I'm happy for you. There are a lot of hikers complaining about everything and I know it's just part of the mental problem but there are a few such as you who are enjoying things right now. You have so many mosquitos because of being early into New York, New Jersey and New England. There is a lot more standing water up there and it hasn't been cold enough yet to get rid of them. 700 miles seems long but it's not. It will go quickly. Katahdin is NOT the goal, the process is the goal. Katahdin is the end. Enjoy the process! You are doing great! You seem to have the best attitude of anyone on the trail this year and that means so much to your hike. Wait for good sunny days to do Franconia Ridge, Webster Cliffs to Pinkham Notch and also the Wildcats. Bad weather can be dangerous but even more important is those sections on clear days. Being clear is VERY important. The Whites and Maine will just blow you away. Georgia to N.H. was the training, now you are in the game. Trust me, you have walked all the way from Georgia for the last two states. The best is yet to come! God, I am so envious of you right now! Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun! geek
This was a great vlog! 1500+ miles 👏👏👏👏👏‼️The miles are passing by. The terrain was varied and ranged from hard to a-ok. That was a huge mama bear! I’m happy to hear you’ll soon be rejoining the girls. (Probably have by now) I thank you for the personal sharing, starting around 7:45, which gives us a widow to see how you are doing. I agree with you…you are doing fine! Loved the thumbnail.
Such a great video as usual. I had a really tough time in the Whites. Only did part of them. I would do it again no question. It's tough, yes. Totally worth it though. We met a south bounder a few days before we got to Mahoosuc Notch. We asked him about it and he gave us some great advice. He told us not to worry about how long it was taking us and to just treat it like a mile long jungle gym and that's exactly what I did. It was a blast. I think most of the hiking up there (including the Whites) should be approached that way. Love it for what it is, not what you wish it was or what you think it should be and when all else fails... embrace the suck. At the very least, after you've been on your hands and knees for hours climbing up to some god forsaken exposed ridgeline and the wind is whipping past you at 60mph it will keep the skeeters away.
"Hiking to get away from the mosquitos..that's motivation enough." Well said. I'm glad you're enjoying the journey. 🙂 That's where the wisdom and memories are acquired. I love catbirds! Sometimes, I swear they almost sound desperate; each cry louder and with more conviction than the last. 😂 Congrats on crossing into Massachusetts! Take care TC✌️
Congratulations on 1,500 miles!! 👏👏👏👏👏. You are doing awesome! Love the bubbles and the hiker trash! 😂 Soaking your feet in that cold water must of felt so good! Love the telephone in the wind! 📞 and new shoes!! You seem very happy! Have a good week! Stay safe & Hike On! 🧗♀️🏕️🥾🙏👏🇺🇸😊
I'm really enjoying watching your progression on this journey, I also love the moral boosting bubbles~ Your filming and documenting each day has a much more natural flow to it as well. I've been thinking about taking a bear can with my son on trail to wash laundry 😆lol how did it do?! Happy Trails!
The bear can laundry was.. okay. With a higher concentration of soap it may have gone better. It’s a decent option for bridging the gap between official laundry days.
I have a backpacking hammock set up. Recently weighed it, over 6 pounds for hammock, straps, rain fly and stuff sacks.... need to switch out that rain fly.

Loved your statement about the rain, “The sweat of the gods.” That’s got to be put on a T-shirt!! Fantastic attitude in some challenging miles.
Haha, thank you!!

Glad to see someone that’s happy 🎈
Looks like you missed the view on Mt Race. I was there earlier this year, possibly the best view I've had on trail yet.
Fantastic! So happy to see you enjoying the Appalachian trail as a journey not a destination. ❤
Glad to hear you are having a great hike! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us 😊
