    Call the grid frame plastic. Because that’s what it is. Only one video does the person ever call it plastic. I guess when you called plastic it makes the gun sound cheap. But if you call it polymer. Sounds more sophisticated expensive and better quality.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  11 місяців тому +12

      😂🤣 yeah i am gonna disagree with ya and just say things the way i think they need to be said. you are free to do whatever you want but ALL plastics are in fact polymers so my choice of words is accurate i do not believe we should be saying anything that makes somehting like the construction of a firearm sound cheap, like it is made out of milk jugs or something... they are not, they are in fact more sophisticated. plastics, polymers. whatever you wanna call them have they been used in firearms for half a century or more with little to no issue. i believe if we make them sound cheap, that can be misunderstood as dangerous and we have enough to deal with when it comes to the demonization of firearms. but again, you do you because we also have a problem with the first amendment and you are free to use whatever words YOU choose too. 💪❤

    I just got mine and it's a blend of both in that it is a 22/45 Target so it has the 22/45 grip with the bull barrel of your Target. It is very accurate with great follow up shots and feels great in my hand.

    I got the MkIV Target 22/45 and it's fantastic. It's accurate and reliable. Been feeding it CCI mini mag and aside from a couple duds, (dented rim, reloaded so firing pin would hit different spot and still failed to fire) it has run absolutely flawless after about 2500 rds. The first two times I took it to the range, I did 500 rds each time to see if I could get it to jam because I always hear how finicky .22 semi autos are but this thing just keeps going and going. I give it a good cleaning after every range session. Been using Clenzoil CLP which has great lubrication qualities IMO. When it comes to .22 firearms, it's hard to beat Ruger when it comes to affordability and reliability. Be it a 10/22 or American Rimfire bolt action rifle or the Mk series of handguns, these firearms are borderline a must own for any firearm enthusiast. All are generally in the $300-$400 range, the mags are plentiful and affordable and the ammo is relatively cheap. I've added all three I mentioned to my collection over the past year and a half. Being a firearm owner for over 20 years, my only regret is not getting these firearms sooner. If nothing else, it's been easier on my ammo budget. I think 3 out of every 4 range sessions over the past year or so have been with .22 which is fine. Yeah, the recoil is lacking but at least I can still practice marksmanship fundamentals.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  11 місяців тому +1

      i have never been a big Ruger fan much but not going to disagree, preety fair. only thing i take issue with much is the "finicky 22" it is absolutely 100% finicky for a variety of reasons related to the design of the ammo. no real way around that, so just gotta find what one likes (rim thicknes and or load consistency) and go with it, keep things clean (usual dirty 22 reality) as you can just like you said. good to see someone that isn't a total newbie. there is a lot of those around now days, good to see but frustrating sometimes when people's insights are based on limited knowledge and mostly hearsay. but it does make me feel old... what happens when you pretty much start shooting firearms and are around them heavily from age 3 or so. 🤣😂

    Is the target a bull barrel or is it more of just a heavy shroud over a barrel like the small one in the Mark IV Light.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  6 років тому +2

      it is a full, heavy, true, target barrel. speaking of the lite barrel, the actual barrel is like a freaking brake line, very small, no kidding. while not a bad thing all around, i can see it not doing well being shot for an extended period of time.

    Literally all Ruger Mark IV models are a masterpiece. I opted for the Target w/ threaded barrel. So far, it’s the most accurate and easy to shoot gun I own. I love the sleek aesthetics and feel. Can’t wait to get a suppressor for it. Still undecided if I’ll add a red dot since the lines are so beautiful and perfect as-is.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  6 років тому +4

      as long as you are dealing with all MKIV parts, yes, the receivers and grip frames should interchange from the standard to the 22/45. so let's say that you wanted the Lite 22/45 receiver on the old school metal MKIV grip frame, it should be fine.

    Would the precision problem on the Lite model be corrected with the added weight of a suppressor?

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  6 років тому +3

      the lite will never be the target, has less to do with weight and has more to do with barrel harmonics and maybe heat when you are talking such a difference in barrel thickness. length of the barrel can also be of benefit as the suppressor doesn't help there either because the projectile never touches it. of course with precision shooting, overall weight is a factor.

      first, congrats, though Rugers are not my favorite they are good. i would suggest taking a look at Tandemkross and what they offer as far as goodies for it. on an optic, depends on what you wanna spend honestly. i run a Vortex Venom and a Burris Fast Fire 3 on a couple of my Buckmarks but they are a bit pricey. the new Sightmark Mini Shot M-Spec is pretty darn good, should fair well on a 22 and is a bit cheaper. You might wanna check my Amazon Influencer store and take a look at some of the things I use, don't buy there if you can find it cheaper, but at least you can look at specs that way, over on clovertac.com.

      Got the silver/blueish 2 months ago and went with the vortex crossfire 2 moa. Can't go wrong with lifetime warranty. A must have though, is the tandemkross trigger. Takes the triggrr pull from about 5lbs to 2.5ish, also it's not curved so you can pull it from where it feels comfortable to you and your grip. The gamechanger compensator also makes quick firing a lil more accurate. Good luck and let me know if find a good ammo it LOVES, bc it likes pretty much anything that isn't super dirty. So far for me, Federal Target Grade performance cycles through the smoothest, then CCI SV.

      first apprecaite the kind words. secondly, and you obviously do not know me (people on the internet and all) but my background is heavy heavy with youth shooting sports and safety has been drilled into and by me for decades, so there is that. also, a lot of it has zero, nothing, nada to do with a potential audience but rather is a best practice to adhere to UA-cam policy and guidelines. they have no problem with firearm videos generally speaking (despite what some creators would have you believe). what they want is a represenation of safe, resposible use, which requires safety talk, on screen prompts and those types of things that, you are right, seem boring as all get out to those of us who are more advaned and experienced. guess what bugs me is the folks who get mad anything you talk about safety... but then again, those probably do not know or understand the issues as well as responsibilies that come with content creation for public consumption. again, apprecaite your comment and WOW, you dug up an old video. the new stuff is a whole lot better i think, check some of that out if you get a chance and quit living in the past 😂❤🤣

      i am not a Ruger MK fanboy, but the ease of tear down for cleaning on the MK4 is pretty solid. i do think the earlier MKs, at least in stock configurations, are a little better as far as accuracy goes.

    It’s funny how 99% of the gun videos. Call it polymer. When it’s plastic. Just call it what it is. I guess people are afraid to say plastic. Because it makes a gun sound cheap and Wes safe. They call it polymer. Cause it makes a gun sound more special more advanced and better constructed. It doesn’t bother me hear someone say that gun is made out of half plastic. I’ve only seen one gun video that the person calls it plastic. Thumbs up to him.

      sorta like how some use clip instead of magazine and people freak or maybe call a revolver a pistol. terminology can be tricky and especially for those who are not life long firearm owners. but even life long firearm owners such as myself have seen things that are weird. like i once had a copy of an Army manual for like 1918 that referenced the clips for a 1911. i own mulitple box magazines in the package that literally say clip on the package too. more to your point though, in the context of firearms, generally speaking, sayig polymer is not inaccurate, neither is saying plastic. all plastics are polymers but not all polymers are plastics. firearms are not made from the same as everyday use items, like say solo cups, soda bottles, milk jugs, etc. it is good to know you are one of those who can decipher what someone says based on the context in which the word is used rather than harping all day on the right or wrong of using said word... there are much more pressing things, in my opinion, we should be concerned with. right?

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  Рік тому

      oh worth noting too that when creators review and or talk about firearms, as a whole, we tend to stick to the wording used by the company. most companies will say polymer and so that is the word we use, why, well, we want things to be consistent, especially for those newbies coming into the community. by saying plastic, then having them see a website or ad or spec sheet or whatever, they could get confused. this was an interesting comment you dropped, especially considering this is an older video. it really does give folks something to think about. thanks
