I've been flying for over 30 years and I wouldn't have the nuts to try and land on a tiny strip with a slope. Total respect for you Ryan. Total.
Really awesome and intrepid
You should see what Air America went through. Took full power to get to the top of the landing strip.
Just watched this video & every time I gain a stronger respect for a skilled professional pilot like Ryan, with that payload & turbulent mountain winds with beautiful but unforgiving terrain.
This guy is the real deal! I'm sitting in my chair looking at TV, and I'm feeling nervous! LOL!
Ryan you rocks! I’m sitting at my desk in Italy and I cannot stop thinking how brave and skilled you are as a pilot. Landing in that tiny strip in the middle of the mountains it is absolutely breathtaking. My eternal respect goes to you for the help you bring to these people. You describe things in such a good way that seems they are so easy, but they aren’t at all! high five from one of your Italian subscribers!
Not a flight and landing for the faint hearted or unskilled. I am always impressed with your skill, Ryan. You make a very difficult and technical flight look very normal. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
Thank u for the Microsoft flight sim downloads!
Stunning views of the clouds today getting into this hidden mountain airstrip. What a beautiful place. Thanks Ryan.
Ryan, you are an amazing and fearless soul. I don't fly(in my dreams ) but you my friend make it look so simple and carefree. I'm sure it's just the opposite. Just wanted to say this. May the wind stay under your wings and clear skies.
This is absolutely incredible. The airmanship in its purest form.
Thank you
Ryan you are a lovely Guy/Pilot , but the camera set up you have on your craft is so excellent, you make dreams come true on the heavens of your footage in this wonderful Island/Islands. Just superb Great video's I wish I was much younger and had the guts to do what you do, I admire you Good on you, may you have a happy flying life
Incredible flying skills to land on that airfield at full weight, with little room for error. Your flying is so precise it's just amazing! 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've only got 8.9 total time at this point in my PPL ... You make these look so easy, I now have an appreciation for how skilled you really are. Just amazing
Hats off to you Ryan for the approach to Yawan. You've changed your mind about how to fly the approach and landing with experience and today I really benefited from that. In simulation I've found Yawan intimidating even in clear visibility as the terrain is quite confusing even in good weather conditions. Today I nervously simulated a flight as you did from Nadzeb to Yawan with difficult cloud conditions and found that you have taught me (all of us) a great deal in your videos. My simulator is not the most sophisticated but does really good cloud conditions over PNG and lets me land in a lot of wild places. The key to getting into Yawan turned out to be getting down through broken cloud into the small basin where the Urawe and Not Rivers meet, circling to lose height to get below the overcast then following the north cliff of the Urawe River. It is an organic approach, flying close to the hillside and close to the ground, skimming Worin and descending into the recess of Towet which throws you out to the south where the Yarwan airstrip is with the right descent rate. It worked out extremely well - almost like having an ILS!. I was very pleased with how the flight went as a result of your teachings. The flight back to Goroka was uneventful despite the clouds - as you say the Goroka Valley is so often open when you get there as it was on this trip but the "Cloud Breaker" you devised means it is always possible to land there. Thanks Ryan, your videos are inspiring.
What a fantastic airplane.
Your one cool dude.
I live in very rural AZ.
That's why I was so bummed when your time ended with the Kit Fox.
Your channel and it's content is well appreciated.
Cheers
You the best pilot...Ryan.....keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍 GOD BLESS
Thank you. It is always nice watching you fly.
Constantly impressed with your professionalism on a consistent basis. Your terrain and airstrips in particular demand nothing less. The strongest of admiration for what you do.
I like that your passenger has his towel - following the rules from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Long time since I’ve seen your video, great job flying that bird like allways. You still the best flying man, keep up the great work helping others. See ya next video, have a great one see ya bye.
Hi mate
this is the air strip my late father flew into with a new fridge for a Adelaide steamship mission shop in the 1970s
He had a contract with the mission shops for refrigeration and the story of flying in from goroka to a little air strip in the new guini highlands was one of my favorites he said he had a native pilot and he was chewing nettle nut ...how times have changed ....cheers mate...
Great stuff mate, enjoyed the prep portion before take off and thw back story for the new builing location.
Great Pilot👍
Awesome, my dose of aviation and nature all at once. Always appreciate you sharing PNG, Thanks!
I love that you show the engine gauges while starting up.
I had 27 months in PNG in the early seventies and looking into that cockpit reminded me of the distance beween two distinct civilisations .
Awesome work
The Moment when you turned to the strip and the nose pointed perfect to the strip. Unbelivable what you do for living
Beautifully flown as always; I really admire the precision with which you make every approach, no matter how challenging the terrain. Thanks Ryan and may God continue to keep you safe and bless your family and co-workers. Love from Rick
Nice landing in a HIGHLY SPORTY FLIGHT!👍👍….mud on the elevator is a nice touch😄
Hi Ryan, I recently heard of some tragic land slid news in PNG. I hope you are well and no doubt doing everything a missionary bush pilot can do in the current situation and environment.
Your flyingskills are absolutely amazing... 😊
Awesome flight! Great job!
nice, thank you!
Do your passengers ever ask who you're talking to? Cheers from Winnipeg.
I let them know I'm making a video
Holy crap!!!!!!! Amazing stuff!! You ARE a pilot!!!!!😊
I leant to fly at Melbourne Australia in 1957 and really enjoy your informative videos Ryan.
Great landing with all that weight on Ryan!! Appreciate the videos brother Gods work is the best work, and what a bonus to fly the amazing Kodiak!! 🙏🏻😊👍🏻
OMG!!! What a flight in...wonderful landing....after 6 previous flights????? NICE!!! Stay safe and keep the blue side up!
I don't know much about flying but compared to most of your to/landing, that was like a maze with all those converging ridges and a quick return. Yes, now I'm breathing normal again.😊
Picking your way back through the clouds on the time lapse brought back a memory of doing the same thing in an Aztec over Andros. We were KFLL>MYEF at 7500ft just weaving through the late morning buildups.
Thanks again Ryan, love those excellent time-lapse outro's. :-)
Beautifully done Ryan, your flairs are perfect every time kudos Stay well
Smooth landing. Love the videoes. God bless.
Good piloting brother, beautiful view
Wow a lot to keep track of, before and during the flight. Not quite another humdrum day in the office. Thx for the window into your work.
I'm not a pilot, but watch this type of video every now and then, because it's really interesting. I have someone in my family who is a commercial pilot and he watched a part of this video, when he was over here for a visit. He said, and I quote "To become a bush pilot you have to be either very very good or very very crazy". 😂 He also said, that it looks very chill and relaxed and the video doesn't even close tell how difficult flying in such conditions is, the pilot's skill just make it look so easy. I reckon he was impressed, which, knowing him, is not easy to do. 👍
Wonderful job...congratulations...👏👏👏
Another wonderful video Ryan - the approach in to Yawan is stunning. The school at Worin gives a great reference point on the base leg of the landing.
This is NUTTS
That was one hell of an approach.
best landing video ever!
thanks for sharing Ryan.
I really enjoyed it.
Watched it with much appreciation to you the "Pilot". In a tiny plane to met with such massive clouds made me a little nervous. Best wishes to you from Canada.
Good commentary as to landing directions good job !
If i was a billionaire this gentleman would be my personal pilot...
I don't think "staying to the right to get past the mud hole" is something most pilots have to consider. :D Love your videos. :)
Great flying and great information from the pilot as if I am gaining my experience of flying. love this
Coolest video ever!! I just found this channel and just subscribed. I loved it. With your constant narration, I was able to learn a lot. I really appreciate you, and thank you very much for sharing. Have a great day, and safe journeys. 😊
These videos are just unreal both in quality and content. I’ve been following since 12k subs, and never been disappointed!
Thanks for the ride!
Am really enjoying this channel.
I am in awe of your flying skills ❤
Totally amazed. Great piloting.
Always a nice flight! Short runway wow.
Thank you so much Ryan for sharing, in such an amazing professionalism, your work as a PNG pilot but also as a video editor. I can only imagine how much work you put in the making of those videos beside all the complexity of flying in such a challenging terrain and weather. This brings to my time of flying a BH 212 between the Porgera mine and Mt Hagen, two to three times a day, to carry the mine workers in and out for their time off. IFR was not an option, the load on take off from Porgera did not allow for a lot of extra fuel, the weather in Hagen was not always a sure thing and landing options in between were very limited! Watching your videos, I can truly feel the anxiety that a pilot can experience in such conditions. Always working on a plan B,C and more if needed…is a skill that true bush pilots have. You are certainly one of them! Keep on the great job, fly safe, and happy landings. Cheers.
Yeah this past month the plane I've been flying was only VFR due to a faulty secondary instrument. I forgot that feeling of the stress of VFR only
@@MissionaryBushPilotThis is when plan C,D,E…come into play…😂
Nice flying
Your missionaries lay flooring?! ... I suppose i need to figure out how that is done, just in case I'm sent to PNG. 😂
😊
Ryan I am a writer and composer in NYC and have been following your adventures from the beginning. You make my day!
Glad to hear it
Great flight Ryan.
Sea level was a great band Mr Leavell is great. Beautiful job man.
Hello from Minnesota USA! Great episode!
Damn, this is cool.. So cool.
Nice video love the landing
❤️❤️❤️❤️ wow brother. Beautiful and experienced 🙏🎋🇱🇰
I imagine the stress when you don't have any information when you land the plane just your experience can make the difference
Love your videos!! Too bad I didn't learn to fly!! Keep up the great work.
Ryan your an amazing pilot
Nice to see that you have a copilot this time.
That was a tough place to land but not a problem for the master, awesome video Ryan👌
Damn dude, you make Carrier landings on the boat look like student pilot stuff. Respect to you for this type of flying! 🫡
We haven't seen your wife in a while, I don't think since you have come back flying missions. Maybe she can fly with you again.
Yeah, I do need to get her on a flight soon
Wow!!!!
scary nice flying
Muy buen trabajo.
Nice
It's kind of funny cause as I know you are briefing us... it looks like you're briefing your copilot... and he has no idea and very worried
Yeah im deffinatly grabbing this plane on microsoft flight simulator next week. Great flight, i see you got your livery on there as well, excellent! -NightShip282 is my call sign in respect for the pilot that was hit by an unidentified object in 2004, most likely by a UFO. He was working for DHL delivering parcels but i believe there is more too it and was delivering documents for the CIA, nefarious documents. Another great video sir and i may see you in the skies on mc flight simulator.
best job in the world.
Amazing and brilliant Pilot.
What are you guys searching for, hidden treasures or something else?
Love all your flights, but I really enjoy the time lapse returns with music. At some point you should bundle a bunch of flights and do a time lapse of 60 minutes of touch and go's with soft meditation music in the background. I can sip some of your coffee, and unwind for an hour after going through your Kodiak training course.
Appreciate all the vids but the terrain on todays flight was spectacular.. any chance, as a 'special', of a terrain compilation with voiceover description ?
Oh you have a co pilot now 😂😂😂
🙏
1KG to max weight before take off?! that takes guts
Of all the things to have to fly into the middle of the jungle... Hardwood flooring
Careful to ply it's so heavy equipment inside your plane captain
Hi Ryan can you tell me which airstrip in PNG has the highest transverse slope? And have you got a video flying into it?
Yu trupla mahn stret. Likim yu
Any fine dining in Papua? Europe is quickly becoming Port Moresby.
what means do these remote locations that you're flying to communicate outside their own locale?
(satellite phone, ham, etc)
Thats Awesome ,Hey Ryan i can do W&B can i be your FO ,that view though is Beautiful
Excuse me, Ryan.
I'd like to know your vision state. Is it 20/20 or what is your prescription if it's not?
Thank you. 🙂
Hi Ryan, I notice you're not wearing a Bose A30 headset. Just wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me which brand and model you're using. Thanks again for another great video. 🙂
It's a clarity aloft pro. I have an A20, but it traps the head in my head and by the end of the day I get headaches from it
I’d give a dollar to find out what’s going through the passenger s mind right now,lol
