I used to work on those Hagglund bandvagns at a USAF site in Alaska - they called them SUSVs; Small Unit Support Vehicle. They used them for getting up and down the mountain, which was kind of sporty in very bad weather, but they got it done. They tended to slide around in the wind. We eventually added spikes to the tracks, which helped a lot. Well made beasts indeed.
For a small town of 1,958 residents I must say you have a very well equipped airport. I live in a city of 400,000 and out International Airport doesn't have the equipment that you have. I am quite jealous.
That's the nature of living in remote places. if and when something happens, you need to have the equipment to fix it yourself because there are no guarantee that someone else will be able to help you. If a small flooding occur at an airport in a city of 400 000 , they will just call _a_ "water-removal-company" downtown and have them fix it. They don't need to have the equipment themself.
