Always cut on highest setting first when grass that tall. Rough cut then bag the clippings with a cleanup cut
I gotta say, this video sold me. Been on the fence with this one or their Super Recycler, and this video helped make that decision. Plus I’ll save a few hundred dollars. Thanks. Just subscribed

A lot of people think their blades are sharper than they really are too. If the very corners aren't sharp, your blades aren't sharp

This is good. I have an old super recycler, like 18 years old. I was eyeballing this mower as a replacement because it has better reviews than the newer super recycler and a lot cheaper. But the old super recycler is still going too. My old super recycler wouldn't mulch this no way. Not sure if it would bag it.
when I started cutting lawns for a side hustle i bought a super recycler which was about 18020 years old at that time. That was a beast and I think the best toro I have ever had. The new toros was no comparison. I tried to replace that with newer super recycler models but they do not compare and found myself buying the honda hrx217 and I own 8 of them now
I bought the GreenWorks 80V battery and I don't think it can go thru these 3 ft tall grass and it doesn't pick up the leaves or debris. It cut the grass fine, however. I am returning it to get the same Toro here. Much admirer you for letting your grass grow this tall :)

Yah I got the toro recycler gas instead of the Greenswork mower from Costco. Greenworks just felt too cheap to me

@davidnle yes nothing is made like it use to be. What kind of issues r u noticing with toro? I've only mowed 1 time with it so far and it was good. 🤞🏻

It has a side discharge you could get when you register the product. Probably easier than emptying the bag.

That's a nice machine. I just bought a used non vortex personal pace Toro after selling my Ego electric mower. The Ego's cut quality and suction just wasn't there.
It was getting a little shaggy around there. Much better now.
The mower handles are 8ft tall?
Nice video... we are about to cut the same-kind of yard (tall).... same brand lawn mower... same motor as is yours... but not sure about fwd or rwd... the terrain is uneven (bumpy) in some parts... are major incline & decline in others... any suggestion on fwd or rwd? We are *not* using a grass catcher... need more "maneuverability" over speed etc.
While TORO makes many fine mowers in any number of configurations The model you're using is a "finish" mower next time get with your dealer and inquire about a 30" brush cutter. What the difference? A mower with a mulching head would make short work of restoring a yard instead of ripping and tearing the lawn!
I think the point of the video is to test the capabilities of the mower, but you are right, there are better tools for this kind of job!

@mrbenjamunz I saw one blade of grass way off it may have been 4ft but where you stuck the tape in the grass was only 24in. When you pointed the camera down you could see it was only 24in. That's a long way from 4ft

i thought the same thing. the handle is only 3.5 in ht and the grass wasn't anywhere near that tall. i would agree. its only 2.5 to 3 ft be a stretch... there is no dispute its tall.
How long did it take you to complete the whole cut
Cutting my lawn would normally take 15 minutes. It took me 2 hours to cut this yard because I was also acting, filming, producing and directing.
Will this mower discharge grass without the bag on it without being in Recycle/Mulch mode?
Yes, just put on your rear discharged chute and you're good to go
I have a question....actually I need help lol. I just bought this model and was wondering can you now without using the bag? I actually bought it because I also mow my elderly neighbors lawn and it a total mow time for both lawns is about 3 hours. It's too much to push a regular mower but have never used this type of mower. Nvm lol when i just registered the mower it said there was a side mulcher available and they would send it.
Yes" you can Mow grass without using the bag, I used the bag this time because I didn't want tons of grass clippings on top of my yard,
Yeah they used to come with the chute but so many people don't use them or lose them they figured it was just cheaper to mail them if needed
@@kdaviper The side chue is actually Included in with the price of the mower. They don't tell you that until you register your product though. Then I was told they are on back order but luckily mine comes tomorrow.

You were busy lol?? How many months did you let this go for? Just say something more realistic like your old mower broke or something. That yard would take less than 5min to mow if you got out there once every week or two. You should just scalp it all the way down with how bad it was then do your normal cuts at 2.5-4inches. That is a very nice mower you got. It'll make regular cuts a breeze. No need to get a brush cutter lol... You could have chopped it all down with a weedwhacker and then mowed. It would be cool to see updates on how well your yard recovers. It should green back up relitively quickly.

I have the same mower open the back chute should solve your bogging down problems cut long grass at the highest setting get new blades
You probably didn't stabilize the gas over the winter. Take the air filter off and start the mower and shoot some carb cleaner in there.
