If the crowd sings along, you've got something. If the crowd sings along with an instrumental, you've got something special! Archer: Wow. Amazing. You can play YYZ. Kreiger: First of all - it's YY-Zed. And second of all - no, I can't get it. It's impossible - Neil Peart stands alone...
@@iplaybass6690 I try to get here early. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. I do the same for movies lots of people want on his other channel. Working on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for drama, and Team America World Police for comedy.
Bought tickets kind of behind the stage when they played in Austin in the mid 80's just to watch Neal Peart play drums all night long. 2 1/2 hours of pure entertainment. The man was not just a musician... he was an athlete! RIP Neal Peart! Thanks young brother for playing this. Brings back some happy memories. Peace and Love to All
That was me in 1994. I thought our seats sucked, just behind the lip of the stage on Geddy's left - until I realized that I had a clear, unobstructed view of Neil, right over his hi-hats. Then, about 45 seconds into Neil's solo, two chuckleheads started a fist fight with each other and came tumbling down the stairs next to us, with about 8 sheriff's deputies trying to corral them up. Dammit, this beef couldn't have waited another ten frickin' minutes?
I'm so glad you listened to YYZ studio version first so you would have this to compare it to. And that lighter toss you did after Neil's stick toss? Epic.
If you want more Rush, "2112" is great, "Cygnus X-1" parts 1 and 2. "Limelight", "Xanadu", "Freewill", "La Villa Strangiato", and "The Fountain of Lamneth" also awesome. Please, more Rush and more Steely Dan!!
I love seeing your excitement just in your living room. You felt it almost as much as I did in 81 when I saw them in Charlotte. Front row! I was at Alex's feet. Neil threw a stick so high it didn't come down until next tour and caught it! Really, it was crazy high and it landed right in his hand.
I was lucky enough to see them live twice, 2008 and 2012. Equally as great both times and I had a hell of a time. These guys were 60-something years old and they played for 3 hours with only a short break halfway through both times. Their commitment to their music and fans is incredible. They really want to play all the songs you want to hear for all the casual and hardcore fans. Rush is the greatest Canadian band.
Man you got my admiration. I saw your reaction to this song and I wrote in comments "See the Live in Rio version" and you did. You listened your public and it was AWESOME! Thanks for that!!
YES! THANK YOU! Thank you for coming back & doing this live for the many of us who were asking for it! YOU FUCKIN ROCK MR. V!!! Can you please react to RUSH: "Xanadu"-Exit Stage Left (1981 Live)🤯 "Working Man"-Live in Cleveland Time Machine Tour😲 They'll both blow your mind my friend! Thanks again Leo! I was having the worst day & you turned my frown upside down as always!😁 Til the next 1☮ Stay safe! 💥💯🖤🎼🤘 RIP Neil Peart

I worked in a factory for 3 years in high school where they listened to a classic rock station on the radio. And that's where I got my classic hard rock education. Rush, Yes, Pink Floyd and Zeppelin were my favorites. They had soul.
Yes Sir MV....Now we're rock'n! I have a special request that you'll love. Rush's catalog is extensive and fantastic. "2112" is a must to become oriented. But, for you, Mr. V, "A Passage to Bangkok," is about sampling the finest of the friendly herb 🤏, and it rocks too! A couple others I love, "Freewill" and "Natural Science." Thanks for the fantastic reaction. Rush will bring'em in!
Brazil showed up strong for this one, that’s a crowd 40,000 strong. This album is and will always be my personal favorite release. Rush in Rio is perfect from beginning to end.
Yes!!! You did it live. I always jam to rush live. They always had better sound performing their older stuff than the albums. Geddy’s bass, Pearts drums sound fuller and elex lifeson guitar as well.
Love you man! They are playing in front of a crowd over 60,000. This is how it was at a Rush concert the energy is incredible. Saw them live twice. This band is incredible. Neil RIP. Greatest band of all time in my opinion. Howdy from Texas.
Agreed and amen!!! The live version from the album Different Stages is my favorite. (That album also contains my favorite version of Closer to the Heart)
Very Big Smile😁 Live is ALWAYS Best With RUSH. Now are you ready to be BLOWN AWAY. La Villa Strangiato (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) It's Live and It's Incredible. The Music Is the same as studio but Live😁
I honestly don't know how they played their songs.. They were all so freaking complicated. Miss these kind of bands today. A 3 piece band. WOW!! NOW THAT'S TALENT!!
Yes!! They truly are so technical. It's like listening to a master class in music. I saw an interview where Neil Peart explained why "Tom Sawyer" was actually his most difficult song for him to play. He also said though that he could hear his own improvement over the years as he built up strength.
Neil was famous for his stick tosses during concerts. His drum solos are legendary! Saw him 8 times in concert. He is also did not want to go on tour unless he was in UNGODLY shape and that his skills were just as good as he could possibly get them. He has incredible lactic acid build up drum solos close to 10 minutes long...and he never breathes hard! Makes the young drummers look very very very out of shape!
The song " massacre of the saxon men" is sung by Christopher Lee, the actor who played Count Dooku in star wars and saruman in lord of the rings. So the song is a heavy metal song by a 91 year old. So theres that..
Purely magical moment. Imagine how the fans turned an instrumental song into a sing-a-long!!!! That's the magic of being at a RUSH concert!! In all the RUSH concerts I've been to, I've never been disappointed in how pumped up the audience is, especially during Neil's drum solos. Thsnks for your reaction and keep smiling🙂🤘
I was lucky enough to live within 3 arenas and saw them at each 1 everytime they came around when I was a teenager. Even spent the night at the L A forum to get tickets. As for another song just pick one and you'll be AMAZED
There's a definite difference between live performances of this song before Rio and after Rio. Before, there wasn't as much energy in the performance. But with this one, and every one singing along (to a goddamn instrumental) and after, YYZ became a staple at concerts. Truly amazing
Another fantastic live rush performance is Working Man - (time machine tour Live in Cleveland). Would be great if you could react to that! Could do album version and then live to see the difference in performance
A little girl asked Geddy Lee at an event recently why they named the band Rush and he blushed for a moment and said how can I say this cleanly that's what you get when you listen to us!! You totally nailed it Joe that's exactly what you're supposed to feel when listening to Rush!!!
My favorite thing about listening to Neil was he had a lot of his fills and solos WRITTEN musically and could play them out the same every time. No disrespect to people who lean on improv more but his precision and consistency was incredible to see.
Rush is very good at allowing people who react to videos to view their videos because they say it adds more listeners to their music. All big acts should be as generous as Rush is.
Any more Rush? I mean honestly, all of it. Pick a song at random and it'll be good. Some were closer to being "hits" than others and those are the ones people will usually mention but you can try anything and it won't be disappointing. It'll either be lyrically or musically brilliant. Usually both.

Now you've got to react to Rush performing Xanadu - Exit Stage Left live in 1981. They are completely on fire in that performance!! And another one that has an amazing transition about halfway through is Working Man Live in Cleveland!
You know you wrote straight fire when the audience is singing and there aren't even words.
Banananananana naaaaa!
Bananananananana naaaa na naa!
thats my favorite part about watching shows from Rio, those mofo's know how to love a rock show...nothing but party

Archer: Wow. Amazing. You can play YYZ.

Rip Neal Peart, the man was one of the greatest drummers of all time. “Neal didn’t die, God just needed drum lessons.”
I always like to say God's house band needed a drummer 😉
"La Villa Strangiato" studio version. You are now ready for the ULTIMATE Rush instrumental masterpiece. YES, it's even better than YYZ.
I second this. It’s like YYZ’s each 4 parts had a 5 stage act. Maybe not as instagroove but definitely as funky.
Do the whole Hemispheres album. I've seen other reactions to it (long time ago) and they didn't get blocked.
Yep. Do the La Villa strangiato...you’ll have an certified eargasm!! I ain’t joking. If you liked YYZ,,, go for the strangiato.😊
this will be the 5th time I have agreed with a post of this nature, La Villa Strangiato is epic

I was just gonna say this lol 😆.
Why do you never see YYZ on oval stickers in the backs of cars like all those OBX douches?

You need to check out your keyboard, it's randomly throwing "one of"s in sentences for some reason.
Sorry. LOL
Glad you came back for this version. Neil’s drum solo from this show in Brazil was called La Baterista if you want to see 8 minutes of perfection.
