I LOVED doing this. Sharing affordable vintage makeup is my favorite thing, and there will be more videos like this in the future! I've linked every shade in the description if there's a color you especially loved! xoxo
I'm glad to know you have a PO box. My Grandmother says she wore only Cherries in the Snow during the 50's and 60's and she thinks she may have a bottle of Cherries in the Snow nail polish that's never been opened. She says she saw it a few years ago when we were cleaning out a closet and if she can find it, she will send it to you.
This was wonderful. My mother always wore Revlon's Cherries in the Snow on lips and nails. She never wore any other color. I have always worn Gentlemen Prefer Pink.
I love Revlon lipstick. I have almost all of those. In 1969, when all the other girls were wearing light pink, I was rocking those Revlon colors, and have been since. I know its not a 50s color, but one of my favorites is #457, wild orchid, which is lovely fuchsia. I have about 20 Revlon colors. It stays on well, doesn't feather much, which is now important since I'm a 50s kid.
So many of these were very flattering on you, thank you for showcasing all of these vintage colors. Cherries in Snow really knocks it out of the park still to this day.
I absolutely adored this video, you are terrific!! My grandmother would take me to Rosemarie's Beauty Parlor and put Cherries In The Snow on my lips while she got her hair done. One of my fondest childhood memories. Thank you for reminding me!! I also would love to live the 50s lifestyle (at least parts of it!) Green lipstick tubes were the Revlon Moondrops Line, which they discontinued about 10 years ago, and my favorite neutral, Bamboo Bronze, was among them. I agree with another commenter below that Revlon, if they were smart, would reissue many of these colors, to a rapturous audience willing to buy! Thank you for sharing your passion with us.
I know that grandma scent you are talking about and I love it too. I have a distinct olfactory memory of the COTY powder that came in that round box with the puff inside. My grandmother, who never wore makeup, would wear that powder to church on Sundays and I will always equate that sent with my grandma. Sweet memories.
The green packaging is from the infamous revlon “moon drops” line, my favorite one was orange flip. From their regular line I love rose velvet, sable, coral berry, demure, pink in the afternoon, wink for pink, Mauvy night, sassy mauve, fuchsia fusion and strawberry suede (discontinued 😒) These were my first lipsticks and I still love them! Thx for you video! Beautiful as always!
Lol totally get it, they do smell like the past, I’m a figurative way lol but I think revlon discontinued them so some might be super hard to find, but definitely try to find them! They’re such a rare goodie! It would be a good video idea!
Revlon SL has been my FAVORITE lipstick line for years. I've had Love That Red, Certainly Red, Ravish Me Red and Fire and Ice for a while, and finally found Cherries in The Snow and Pink in the Afternoon on ebay for a great price and they're on their way. I total I have over 30 and about half of them are reds. Love Is On is the most recent I recieved and OMG I love it so much! There's also one called Revlon Red that of course I had to have and it's also gorgeous, I took a risk ordering online even though it looked pink in the picture but it is definitely a medium red, like a smige lighter than Love Is On.
Kristina, back in the day, i used to use my grandmas make up when me and my sister used to spend weekends with her. Maybelline had a mascara, that was in a small slide open container. Inside was a small stiff brush, like you would see to dust off a hair chipper to get the cut hair off. There was a small strip of the mascara. It was dry so you had to wet the brush and rub it on the dry mascara. The bad thing was that it gave me raccoon eyes. I started wearing Maybelline navy blue mascara once i was in high school and that didnt run. I dont think mascara was waterproof back then.
Such a fun and informative video! Im going to be trying cherries in the snow, live that pink, and the frosty lipstick too! Would love for you to do one with the Revlon 60's lipsticks too! Thank ls so much!
There's just that certain makeup smell that is SO nostalgic - and as I gather up makeup and skincare to test, I'm realizing it's probably all stuff my grandma used because it smells like her, haha!
Love that red is extremely warm toned, very orange. I don’t see any blue in it in this video, but it could be the video/my screen. All the first ones are warm toned and orangey, I don’t spot a real difference in temperature but in vibrancy, saturation and deepness. I think this kind of lipstick colours look great on you! Thank you for the video, I will definitely check out a couple of this! Love your videos xx
No, it's definitely an orange red. I have it and while it does suit me, it took me a little bit to get used to it because I always go for cool toned anything. It's certainly not a blue toned red. And it looks incredible on her!!
Your are so right about your personal colouring being not suited to the pink Barbie shades - they look somehow incorrect on you!😅 However, when you wear orangey reds, you really shine. My favourite on you was the Fire And Ice, and the one that smelt like grandma was OK too. The first one and the frosted one I didn’t like at all. Now I’m wondering what you will do with all those lipsticks? Thanks for doing all the research and giving us a very entertaining few minutes. Bless you ❤
Theyve discontinued revlon in the uk. But ive recently bought one revlon lipstick in with the reduced for clearance, blushed, and one in tk max, pink in the afternoon. Both nice shades
The shimmery pink (1956) that you were dubious about is probably the only one I would even try 😂 I’m not a lipstick girl but I’ll wear a light gloss sometimes.
My grandma was in her late 30s to early thirties in the 50s. She often wore love that pink by revlon. And her nails were always a red color from revlon. Eye shadow always light blue. Her powder was Coty brand. And when I smell thet powder I smell her room. Also, she loved Jean nate after bath splash. Btw I love that pink shimmer one on you. I didn’t know they wore shimmer lipstick in the 50s!
Soooo, I went out and bought three of the lipsticks 💄 in this video. Woo Hoo!, I am so glad you are doing this series and can't wait for more. Keep up the excellent work!
I went online for the dupe to Hot Coral and I got, Kiss Me Coral from Revlon as well. I love it! It is a bright but muted coral. I love it!! Love the formula as well. I love wearing it at the office since I have to wear either black or grey, this color brings cheers to my office attire.
This was Fun! I'm glad to find your channel! I'vebeen going for a 1950s vibe, mostly 53-57, though I'm looking a bit at some of the 48-53 styles too. I also watch Laura Jane Atelier, and she does a lot of vintage stuff. I recently discovered Dior's 999, which I don't know how old it is, but it is a good, solid Parisian red, and it really lasts. You can get a travel size for around $25 if you search a bit. You might want to try it. Looking forward to seeing more of your 1950s project!
Looking at the luminous pink in the tube I thought “oh no, that’s going to look horrible” but I actually kind of liked it on…the sheerness was pretty and now the mask mandate is lifted I can start wearing lipstick again regularly lol
This is so cool! I love the frosted one, I really love the 60s aesthetic, so I always wear frosted lipsticks, but I usually wear them over a darker lip liner like you mentioned
This was a truly great vid! I loved the actual comparison of each. Being a true blonde and blue eye, the pink is my favorite! I actually use Fire and Ice, too, generally my Fall and Winter go to. Oh, your hair is beyond stunning! Gorgeous, yes ma'am! Blessings!
The second to last, the shimmer lipstick is definitely from the 60s. I was 12 in 1968 and i was experimenting with make up. If you google TWIGGY, and JEAN SHRIMPTON you will see a lot of very light, including WHITE lipsticks. We also tweezed our eyebrows thin, as they did in the 1940s. Bright blue eyeshadow and painted on lower lashes. Hippies were in fashion, so we wore pants or long flowey kaftan and gauze dresses. Once we hit the 70s, we kind of went back in time with midi dresses, crop tops and elephant bell bottoms with platform shoes. I had a pair of red leather 4 inch platforms. Man i loved those shoes, especially because my boyfriend was 6 foot 4 to my 5 foot 3. Lol
This was so much fun to watch. I will definitely have to get some shades. I am so excited for your new series and really am looking forward to the one on hair.
🌷🌸🌷🌸 I loved your 50's Revlon Lipstick video. During the 70's i worked at the Revlon factory in NJ. Not a glamorous job at all lol. Thanks for sharing these wonderful retro lipstick 💄 shades. My sister will be celebrating her birthday in the fall and in thinking of doing a Retro themed gift for her. Btw, loved the various shades on you ! 💞👄
Great video! Thank you for doing this. I voted for it! I have Love That Red, and wow, it looks totally different on me. I have neutral undertones, and I’m so extremely pale that a lot of brands don’t have foundation I can use. Love That Red looks way less crazy on you. I like it on myself, but it’s like traffic cone loud & definitely has to be a statement. I really appreciate you going to the effort of getting all these. I plan to pick up a couple more of them after seeing this!
That's so funny, Love That Red is almost a neutral red on me! And I had so much fun with this! It actually turned me back on to cream lipsticks - I've been a liquid lipstick person for years, but I loved how these felt and wore so... I might be switching back!
Oh lipstick. I must look into these colours. Thank again as it was strange to see you in pink lipstick they looked fantastic. I agree I must look into the other makeup companies and see !!!
The Stormy Pink lipstick reminds me of black beehives and smokey cocktail lounges...Waitresses smacking gum in short skirts and spike heels 👠. So fun. Thanks My grandmorher's room always smelled like lovely, expensive cosmetics, too❤
Loved this!!!! You looked gorgeous on all of them!!!! I'm so happy for this especially because I'm also an olive tone gal and its so hard to find swatches for olives. I've been interested in Fire and Ice for years but I always thought it was more blue toned (at least, thats what internet swatches looked for me) and never went for it. Also, I was plesantly surprised with Love that Pink, its really pretty. And I've been using Hot Coral (with Kiss me Coral when I can't find it) for years but never knew it was such an old color... the more you know lol. Great video, hope to see more on the series!!!
I had thought about it! I don't know exactly how I'd go about it, with exception of maybe chatting with my grandma, but it's been in my idea list for 4 years now if I'm honest!

My mom is doing well and home at 88. I'm so fortunate to have her, and value her recollections. She still does her hair and makeup daily. I was recently putting things up and found her Evening in Paris collection.
I'm new to your channel and I am in love with your videos so relaxing and informative your hair is beautiful hopefully I can achieve your style. By the way I have cherries in the Snow nail polish found it at Walgreens in the clearance nail polish.
🌹Love, love, love this new series. (👩💻In process of binge watching all your stuff.) ⏰ Your intro/outro is absolutely delightful. 😘 You've cleverly captured the whole 🎼retro vibe⛽, the upbeat spirit of your endeavors, while enhancing your natural vibrancy & personality❣️ 🛑Like that you added your own name for even deeper brand recognition too.♦️Brava❣️ 👄 Adore a statement lip 〰️ and I find all these 50s vintage colors rather spectacular🩸. Enjoyed this walk through time & beauty. 🏁Revlon's racy red🏎️ collection is outstanding. 📖 Great to learn a bit about their history too. 🍒You look quite luminous in Certainly Red. 🤔 Actually, I thought you were pretty spectacular in all the shades🍬. This feature was beautifully done too. 👏👏👏 💟 Of the pinks, Love That Pink was stunning. Although the Stormy Pink and the Shimmery Pink were sweetly feminine when you desire to invoke a softer, more gentle moment🌸. 😔Sadly, my skin tone is tricky. Definitely take on a 🤢sickly cast in 🍊orangey reds🔥. Can also be rather clownish in blue reds🤡. I end up toning down any color mistakes w/a lip liner. Or, will try to pull back the color for a considerably more matte subtle look (maybe add a smear of Vaseline on top). My lips are so spare, they practically disappear when left alone. 🪄The former trick above works for more glamour, while the latter one suits me hanging about the house or doing super ordinary activities.🤣Make-up is simply too 💲expensive to squander, and it does so much to perk me up. 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I am pleasantly surprised by that frosted shimmer shade! I thought it was going to be far more dreadful than it was or look totally 70s but it didn’t!
Great video!
SAME! I thought it would be terrible, but it's not that bad!
'Thank you!

Moon drops. Now that's a blast from the past. I'm thinking moondrops was a "line" of cosmetics. I'm thinking grandma had moon drops facial cream.
I know that grandma scent you are talking about and I love it too. I have a distinct olfactory memory of the COTY powder that came in that round box with the puff inside. OMG! - The scent memory came back to me about my grandmother wearing it! And the box is the same.
Same! Plus, my grandma would wear Chantilly lace roll on deodorant.
I still wear that Coty powder! Fifty years!
What fun. I remember many of those colors. I wore the Persian melon and the cherries in the snow!!
They're such great shades! I've always liked Revlon, I had no idea so many of these shades remained unchanged since the 50s!

Certainly Red, Cherries in the Snow, and Fire and Ice are my three favorites - they're all so good!

My mom is doing well and home at 88. I'm so fortunate to have her, and value her recollections. She still does her hair and makeup daily. I was recently putting things up and found her Evening in Paris collection.
2. LOVE THAT RED FROM 1951
I think the green tube were called moon drop lipsticks. I haven't seen them in years!
I'm new to your channel and I am in love with your videos so relaxing and informative your hair is beautiful hopefully I can achieve your style. By the way I have cherries in the Snow nail polish found it at Walgreens in the clearance nail polish.
Oh I'm so glad you found it! I had two people send it to me after this, haha!
You are so beautiful! This aesthetic is perfect 😻
🌹Love, love, love this new series.
(👩💻In process of binge watching all your stuff.) ⏰ Your intro/outro is absolutely delightful. 😘 You've cleverly captured the whole 🎼retro vibe⛽, the upbeat spirit of your endeavors, while enhancing your natural vibrancy & personality❣️ 🛑Like that you added your own name for even deeper brand recognition too.♦️Brava❣️
👄 Adore a statement lip 〰️ and I find all these 50s vintage colors rather spectacular🩸.
💟 Of the pinks, Love That Pink was stunning.

LOVED this video+!!! You should do more!!!! ♡❤🧡
I'd like to see the sweetheart pink from the sixties.
It was my favorite color
I loved cherry in the snow. I bought the matte and used cherry lip liner by MAC.
Truly a really great video! ❤️💗❤️
