If there is an accident, the baby will go face first into the seat of the car….do NOT use the seatbelt that way. Absolutely not. Look up crash tests with the seatbelt like this. It’s scary.
Thank you for your comment. While I understand your concern, it’s important to note that installing infant car seats with just a seatbelt is indeed safe when done correctly. Don't do this type of installation unless it is an emergency. Without the base I could almost guarantee that if the person in the video were to lift up the carrier around where the shoulder belt was placed the whole car seat would become dislodged. Bring the base with you if you are traveling.
@@kylen6430 yeah it will feel really secure side to side at the belt path, but up and down you’ll be able to flip the carrier out of position. The lock off on the back isn’t preventing that in the event of a major car accident.
@@HeyClutch I own it. The neither us or the in-laws were going to spend the extra $160 to have a base in every car. I can assure you, it doesn’t move. Besides, these products go through a rigorous testing and certification process, both with and without the base. I’ll trust them over Matt from UA-cam comments.
@@kylen6430 and I trust multiple certified techs that have done my installs that have said carrier only install is for emergency and shouldn’t be used for every day use. I trust them over Kyle N from UA-cam comments. And it’s not called a “hook.” It’s called a lock off. There is a reason why NHSTA recalls seats that don’t come with a base. Take the extra time to switch over the base to the car you or the in laws are using since you’re such a pro at installs.

Jeff, you should never put your child in the front passenger seat. The airbags are extremely dangerous for car seats.

No one shows HOW TO REMOVE THE CARSEAT FROM THE BASE.
On the side of the base, there’s a button. Push on it and lift the car seat

There is a hook in the back that the shoulder strap is threaded into. It’s not going to go anywhere
