USSR. "NIMOR" is not a plant or a factory. “NIMOR” is a trademark for consumer goods, which once, in addition to the main production, were produced by the Black Sea Shipyard, located in the city of Nikolaev. “NIMOR” is a reminder of a large country, pieces of life of which are captured in heavy bronze figurines. There are a lot of figures released, some are less well made, some are very well made. Many were later melted down as scrap bronze. Nostalgia for a bygone era.

I used to work in the home of a Jewish family, and I saw a number of similar booties (each bootie was different) in their silverware cabinet. I was told that these were their children's first booties cold cast in brass. The booties I saw would have been cast some 30-40 years ago and similar services are still provided today. I wonder if what you so beautifully restored had once a very personal and sentimental value to someone.
I think it's a Match Boot . It's made to hold matches for your fireplace. You see those stitches on the toe of the boot that's where you strike the matches. I bet it looked cute on someone's mantel a long time ago.
My version of the rest: So there she was, she cast it in Bronze so the leather would not decay. But as time flew, the rust quickly grew and the children could no longer stay. Years later the Restorer had come and he had great fun and in the shoe once again they could play!
This reminds me of my first ever pair of shoes; a little pair of patent burgundy ones with delicate brogue detailing around the toes - My late Nanna had cast/covered in (I have no idea sorry), brass! They sat next to the rest of the brass by the hearth, amongst it those small tortoises that used to open, an iron, and some old nut-crackers and a knife for castrating sheep! 😬😂 Christ this takes me back! I’m 42 on November 26th, what a cool memory to have just before, catalysed by this! And I see another comment said something about shoes being cast too, so this was obviously a thing! Oowh and I forgot, I used to LOVE doing the ‘Brasso’ job at my Nanna’ too! It was so satisfying! (As was using a bicarbonate paste on the teaspoons, using a bit of kitchen roll!). Thanks! 🥳🙏🏼😂🥰😁

Greetings from the USA This was fascinating to watch and the result is absolutely beautiful :) I do have some questions: 1. What kind of acid did you use? Oxalic? 2. What was the white powder you added to the acid? 3. What did you spray the boot with before you used the fine grain sandpaper? 4. What was the solution used for surface cleaning and degreasing? 5. What was the spray used to remove the polishing residue? Great presentation and close-up photography. Thank you for sharing. The result is definitely a "10"
