Glad I live in the Philippines. For our Mazda Miata MX5 RF, I can easily get Shell at 97 octane and Petron at 100 octane!

As a previous Mazda 6 owner i have to say its the best car i ever owned
A great car, but tends to rust badly probably because of the climate of where i live in
@aaronkotitalo8876 During the Ford years yes. Since then, that issue has been largely rectified
What did you get next?
Me too! I only had to get rid of mine because I had my 4th kid lol
I had a 2020 Mazda 3, which I had to change due to insufficient room in the back for my kid, but the engine and gearbox were beautiful
My wife's 2012 Mazda5 has over 240k miles on the original engine and transmission and is still going strong. FEW unscheduled repairs. In fact, it's been nearly flawless.
Mazda5?
@@alphillips5478 yep, the small "minivan" they discontinued around 2015ish.
I love the Mazda 5. I just sold my 2007 model myself.
That's impressive. Especially since that car has a Ford transmission lol
@@ajaloy4010 I've kept up the scheduled maintenance religiously. That's probably why.

Same, got a 2021 Mazda 6 Carbon Edition a year ago! 😁
I miss mine. Old lady ran a stop sign and took me out.
@@johnphom1136 dang, sad way to go. 😭
I have a 2021 Mazda 6 Signature and I love it 🥰
I bought a 2017 mazda3 hatch with 60k miles for $5,500 with all the bells and whistles 2 years ago and absolutely love everything about it 🤗
As a Mazda 3 owner with 300k miles on it and nothing special than regular repairs and maintenance, this brand suprised me! I was a Toyotas owner for many years and was not planning to change. I bought the mazda sooo cheap that I said if it breaks, I'm going to buy a Toyota. 7 years later still strong wouaouh! Amazing! I rented a CX5 for a trip and my children cried when I brought it back to the owner! They like that car soo much and they begged me to buy one. Problably my next car! Bravo mazda!
Cool, what year on the 3?
@@ginog5037 2010
I just got a 2006 Mazda 3. I just have to replace the intake manifold because it's running like it has a vacuum leak and even with the issue it drives pretty smooth once your going the speed limit🤣hopefully that fixes the problems cuz I got it for a good deal. New wheels and tires and interior like new
TOO MANY miles on it.
Toyota is a good company but highly overrated
As a lifelong Honda and Toyota guy, I bought my wife a 2014 touring. Currently has 72,000 miles. I must say I am impressed with Mazda. Built in Japan and corners like it's on rails. She loves it and that's the important thing.
I have the same car. Corners great, but you do pay in ride quality. Like any other car, everything is a compromise. Mazda is the smart mans Toyota.
My wife won’t let me drive her ‘17 CX-5. It’s her baby!
Simp much
2015 Touring. 130K. No issues. Won't win many drag races but ride and cornering prowess make up for that. Very interested in the new 6 with the straight 6 cylinder.
@@waltheisenberg7626 I am too. That could be a monster with that straight 6. So glad they are not going with a turbo.
I'm a Toyota fan, but I have to say I'm honestly pretty impressed with the build quality of modern Mazdas. They're good value for the fit and finish, as well as the material costs. It seems like after their partnership with Toyota they really improved a lot of their production and methods. The CX-5s and Mazda 3s/6s seem to be made very well and have held up decently from the consensus of most owners.
I love my AWD CX-5 I just leased 5 months ago. Just pissed that because of the stupid Teslas hogging the chips and being partially responsible for causing the chip shortage, I lost two standard features I really wanted: 1). The power lift gate and 2). The 10 speaker Bose audio. It drives and handles phenomenally but could do a little better on the gas milage.
The mazda3's and 6's were already good before they partnered with Toyota. The engines been around for 10 years and have the famous japanese reliability, but it will be interesting to see what the partnership of these two japanese auto manufacturers will come up with in the next few years.
Their tiny little partnership just happened last year. Mazda has been building all their own stuff since 2010. Toyota has NOTHING to do with Mazda's success. Nothing!!!
The mazda CX5 diesels are rubbish. Over engineered
@@jonwoodworker Correlation versus causation, I am simply saying that in recent years, especially the last 3-5 years Mazda has really stepped up their quality, even if it was before their partnership with Toyota. But even then, it was a wise partnership to share technology with the two companies, Toyota is still one of the largest manufacturers in the world so it still benefits Mazda to share their production line with them. There's no need to get in a frenzy about it.
I have a 2019 Mazda 6 that I bought couple of months ago for ~23K with only 21K miles on it. But mine has a lot more options than this one (Heated leather seats, sunroof, adaptive cruise control, etc...) I think it's the best car I've ever owned. The interior is just so luxurious like out of an Audi interior. I like how Mazda has its own customer base like myself and it's not trying to go for the masses like Toyota and Honda.
My wife’s ‘19 CX-5 handles better than my ‘17 Camry SE, and that’s saying a lot.
Still driving my 1990 Mazda 626 Sedan as my daily driver. 32 years old and clocked up over 310,000 miles. Still drives like new!
I had 2 of them. That's amazing you still have yours with that kind of mileage.
OK that was the 1st and nice car I ever bought myself new almost there.. Sadly mine was the 4th cylinder automatic and I had that bad ford transmission. Is yours an automatic or the V6 is had the good transmission for Mazda and the manuals lasted I'm just curious what year's is to still be like roll the road after all these years because there are none left in my area And I personally loved my 94 626 and I had a 95 millennia it wound up Being too ragged out by the previous owner.... I also had a 92 929. It was where we'll drive 56 and I love that cart I got ripped off by a mechanic the mechanic went out of business the shop shut down and my car disappears. Lol!! He bought it brand new, fully imported from Japan (he paid 32,000 Australian dollars for it back then!)... I live in Melbourne, Australia! In fact it is an Automatic 2.2i. I have never had a problem with it in 32 years and after 310,000 miles !!!!!!!!! ... still drives like a dream, like new! Its unreal ... and l absolutely will NEVER part with this car, for both sentimental reasons and my absolute love for this car. I have religiously taken it to get it serviced (oil change and general maintenance) every 6 months (absolutely without fail!) over the course of its current 32 years. Every mechanic tells me my car is never going to die ... it is in incredible condition. None of them can believe it.
I recently purchased a new 2022 Mazda 3 sedan. I had to wait 8 months for it to arrive here in Melbourne, from Japan .... and am also absolutely thrilled to own the Mazda 3 too. It is a stunning car!!!
I now drive both cars as my daily driver ... a couple of days a week in my '90 Mazda 626 and a couple of days a week in my new 2022 Mazda 3.

Hey Scotty, thanks for spotlighting Mazda! You often speak about Honda and Toyota, but Mazda doesn't always get the same amount of attention.
But one thing I can tell you- it's hard to find a Skyactiv owner that doesn't love their cars and swear by their reliability
I have 2 of them over 200K, still going 💪
@@marcop.2587 What models?
@Houtyfish27 I have two mazda 6s. One is 2014 sport and the other one is a 2014 grand touring
Not really. You just found one.
@Marco P. Nice! We have 4 Skyactivs in our family, all of them gems. We just lost the 5th one, which my son wrote off in a tangle with a pick up truck on the freeway. The car was written off, and he walked away, literally without a scratch.
100% Agree with your comments Scotty. 2018 (Japan built) Mazda 2 owner here. And yes it also has a manual transmission. I do love Mazda.
I have a 2014 Mazda 6. Made in Japan. So reliable. Drives great and is a comfortable one at that. Unlike other cheap cars that feel more on the stiff side when hitting bumps.

Great looking vehicles. MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅

Fantastic car and dependable
I've also got a 2014 Mazda 6. Best car I've ever had! Drives like a BMW 3 series, cost 10.000€ less and hasn't got the BMW issues.
My 16 was garbage, despite me taking good care of it.
Loving all of the Mazda content recently Scotty. I have a 2014 Mazda 3 S Touring with 80k on it. Runs like a dream. Mazda is extremely underrated and their cars are made of very high quality. I will drive my Mazda into the ground and then replace it with a new one.
Maintain it well, and it'll make it more than 300k. I prefer honda, but mazdas are really good too
I've driven peugot, vw, skoda, seat (yeah they are all vw), rover, hyundai, ford, mazda and my current toyota, and the car I miss the most, my old mazda 3 mk2. Had to get rid of it due to 1k annual repair bills, but still my favourite car. I got teh toyta for the xtended warranty and hopefully reliability, but if I could have afforded to gamble, would have taken another mazda hands down. Very comfortable to drive, brillaint handling, enough power to be safe whatever the manouvre, and great cabin quality. I have a newer toyata that has much less soundproofing, and is less comfortable, and a lot less fun to drive..... man, I miss my mazda.
I would consider buying a Mazda. One of the few manufactures to still make manual transmissions that’s always a positive 🙌🏽
Mazda makes great vehicles. I have previously owned a 2005 Mazda 3 and a 2014 Mazda 6. I currently own a 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature Model. All 3 of these vehicles were purchased brand new, and had/have no problems whatsoever. All I have ever had to do with any of the Mazdas that I have owned is routine maintenance. My brother owned a Mazda RX-7 back in the 80s, and he never had any problems with it either. I will always be a huge Mazda fan. 👍👍
❤❤❤ love my Mazda. 10 times better quality than American made unfortunately!
Mazda is the best car brand across the board!
Nice ride and hell of a deal. Still miss my 3, but love my cx5 and cx7. Looking forward to the new cx90 competing upscale.
I had a CX 7 it was an excellent car and the perfect size, I never understood why Mazda quit making them. I said had because the wife got it, and half of everything else I owned in the D-I-V-O-R-C-E. Apologies to George Jones and Tammy Wynette..
We have the cx5 and fwd cx7, great car had to rebuild the tranny but it now has 235k km hoping to go to at least 300k

I live and work in Japan. Due to my work and lifestyle, owning a car in downtown Tokyo was not feasible for me because of the lack of space. As a result, I ended up renting a car every weekend. Fast forward five years later, I had tried almost every Japanese car in the compact and subcompact category. While all Japanese cars are great and reliable, there's something special about Mazdas. Even the budget models ride and feel premium, and they excel in the cost-to-quality ratio. When the time came to finally own a car, it was a no-brainer to choose a Mazda.

What I've heard about the Mazda 6 is that they can be really good cars if you get the good engines and transmissions. They had multiple engine and transmission options and you had to know which ones were good and which ones to avoid.
Just buy a standard, and it'll be exellent
That was with their first and 2nd gen models.
Their models from 2014-2021 have all been very reliable including turbo models. And all the transmissions are the same skyactiv 6Speed autos since then.
Only when they were still owned by Ford, the modern ones (2014+) are all solid. While I do see many high mileage older ones, they are usually in need of many repairs and leaking everywhere.
Unlike the hondas they all got bad transmissions
@@jaycris1980 Not true at all. The Skyactiv transmissions made by Mazda are very reliable. Only the old Jatco 5 speed autos had problems.
I have a 22 mazda cx5, it's been a delight. Very quiet on the road.
I had a manual 2016 6 and got rid of it partially because it had some problems early on that should never occur on a car that young and with as few miles. It never left me stranded, but here are some of the problems. It was a very good looking car that was excellent particularly on the highway, but it was just okay overall.
I had an '05 3 Touring hatchback 5 spd and, unlike the 6, it was my favorite car ever. It never had any problems and felt faster than the numbers showed. The shifter was also better than the one in the 6 due to the linkages being lined with Kevlar. I still miss that car.
Brand loyalty is a fool's errand. A car maker can be good in one decade and not so much in the very next one, or vice versa.
What were some of the problems you had with it
I’ve got a 2017 manual and haven’t had any problems yet. What did you run into?
I don’t believe a thing you said esp when you haven’t even said the problems.
Go on. We are waiting because blanket statement has no value.
That is true..... having said that though, since giving up on Honda a couple of years ago and switching to Mazda, they are getting better and better.. and that has earned my loyalty.
@@houtyfish273 Their interiors are nicer but beware of the quality difference. Night and day between '00s and '10s/'20s. My 6 really was a POS compared to my decade older 3, and I cared for both meticulously in the same location.

Decided I was getting a little old to be driving a flashy yellow Miata with chrome roll bar, cat back exhaust, etc. So I traded it in for a 2016 CX-5. Six years later, that car continues to run with no problems at all. IMO, Mazda makes great cars.
I owne a 2014 Mazda 6 Turing 6 speed manual now has 65k miles and drives like New absolutely love it
Highly recommend this car to anybody who is in the market for a manual transmission
I test drove a couple of them a couple of years ago and thought the ride was too firm and road noise was annoying. I ended up buying a older 07 Avalon, not a sports sedan but is such a comfortable car.
Yeah, I had a ‘21 Mazda6 Signature Turbo for a year and a half, and while there was a lot to like about it, the wind noise at highway speeds was pretty bad. Also, my door panels rattled and buzzed a lot from the Bose sub in the trunk and the speakers, and the infotainment system and backup camera were really poor quality. I ended up trading it in this past September for a ‘22 CX-5 Signature Turbo, and everything about it is WAY better!!
@@ryanzeid146 I have a 6 sig and I don't hear any wind noise at all, it is very quiet...I think it is a much nicer ride than the CX5 and a whole lot fun to drive...I do thin the sets could be better.
@@joebruhin2098 I may have had a 6 with bad insulation around the doors and windows because the wind noise in mine was pretty pronounced and distracting. I kept checking to see if the driver's side window was cracked open when I first got the car because it was so annoying. I noticed the doors didn't sound solid when I shut them either, so maybe the insulation in them was poorly installed. Oh well, it doesn't matter anymore because now I have the CX-5 Signature.
Mazda and Mazda 6 are The most underrated yet best quality car on the market. I bought in 2017 Mazda 6 2,5i aT Skyactive Max-Trim new. Now, 2022@ 1460000 km (91000 miles) it has had zero defects, flaws, errors whatsoever, nil, nada!! Still running like new! It even has still the original front brake discs and 12V battery! The original Bridgestone tires lasted for 48000 miles! Thats The Quality german, corean, american cars can just envy etc. Best car from quality point of view yet, I say it as a parallel Lexus user.
Just sticking to Mazdas maitenance plan - HOWEVER I let change the transmission fluid cahnge @ 43000 miles. Mazda is quietly not prescribing it.Thats little b*tchtrap by Mazda - they claim their transmission oil is Lifelong, but as pointed my Mazda mechanic, the "lifelong" of transmission is engineered aftewreads 100000 miles, when Mazdas extended warranties end. And I invested into extra underbody corrosion protection jetting, immediately after overtaking the car too. Even after 5 central european winters on salted roads completely no trace of rust, defying Mazdas bad reputation of a Rusting Tincan.
Real world long term gas consumption is 33-32 mpg, with lot of freeway and city driving. Actually very good for the zippiness of the car, handling and comfort of the cars is excellent, beating even some european rivals.
I can highly recommend this car, the most depenedable and reliable yet, and timeless beautiful design in and outside. The only drawqback it has is less space on backseats compared to direct competition.

Skyactivs "can" run on regular, but they *WILL* run better on high octane.
4:10
You may want to look up published 0-60 times between Skyactiv manuals and autos. You might be surprised.
9:00
B-LLSH-T !!!!
For the UMPTEENTH time!!... There is *NO* Toyota tech in Mazdas!!!!!
Skyactivs run just fine on regular.
The only thing higher octane does is make it less likely for the ECU to pull timing to prevent knock.
During normal daily driving this will never happen on regular unless you're driving aggressively in 100F+ weather or track driving
old cars might get 100 HP from a 6.9L v 12 when now days we get 150 HP from a 1.5L 3 piston engine
@scotty_kilmer 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Im not that stupid 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just bought a 2020 Mazda 6 touring. I absolutely love this car. I traded my 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium in on the Mazda.
I'm shocked how awesome this Mazda 6 is. 👍🏻😎
If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay, and in which part of the country?
Wrecked my 2016 cx-5 a few months ago with 320k on it. Never had a single problem with it up until that point.
I've got a 2017 Mazda 3 Hatch, Japan built, that I've had for about 18 months and I love the thing. I've put over 25k on it already. Its a fun little car with a pretty decent aftermarket if you're into that. Plus I got a 6-speed with nice trim for 18k before prices went crazy.
Mazda, please make the 6 in a station wagon. I will buy it tomorrow.
Why is it almost everyone has abandoned station wagons because they aren't cool. But if you jack them up a few inches and call it an SUV, it's cool.
Loved my Mazda 3! They’re beautifully made now!
Yeah my 2018 Mazda3 is great payed for itself in the rideshare/delivery aconomy and has lots of haters but we know and Scott already approved 😉 👍
Both times I bought new Mazdas they gave me Mazda 3s to drive while they customized my car. One Mazda 3 in 2017 and the redesigned Mazda 3 from 2020. I thought the 2017 Mazda 3 was an awesome little car and thought I would like the refreshed 2020 version but I thought it felt cheap and plasticky. It looked cool and drove well but obviously skimped in quality in a few places.
...in Mexico...
Just bought a brand new 2024 Mazda 6 Sedan. One of the last 134 manufactured in japan.
As owner of a five year old 6 I fully endorse everything that Scotty‘s said. Terrific car.
I agree people underestimate the mazda 6 alot
I traded my stupid Volkswagen Jetta that kept having problems for a 2018 Mazda 6! Best decision ever!
I taught myself how to drive a manual transmission in my '70 GMC pickup truck with a 3 speed manual on the floor and manual steering. I now have a Ford Focus with a 5 speed manual transmission and you're right, they are more fun
Yeah me too started my beginner driving lesson in a manual tractor
@@amandeepbaa6978 me too and tractor first at 12 then an early 60s beetle - ir worked, I can drive anything on the road and have been for the fast 57 years
I just wish I could find one of these little buggers in manual. I think if I could get one in manual, I’d end up paying a premium price because NO ONE HAS ONE.
I had a 2006 Mazda6 hatchback. Super practical and fun to drive. Horrible turning circle though.
Mazda better keep making the CX-5 .
Have same car in automatic, 200k miles plus, regular consistent maintenance, no problems.
We have them here in Japan and we love them! I drive a 2015 Atenza Skyactiv diesel. They did not discontinue the Atenza in all markets, just the US.
I've only ever driven Mazdas for 25 years. And as long as they keep making them, I'll drive them 25 more.
Have a 2015 Mazda 6 with 110,000 miles and besides basic maintenance, I have had to do nothing else to it. I dogged on that car when I was younger and it still runs like a dime. Great reliable car and even the auto transmission…thought it would fail being a jatco but holding on strong
not a jatco it is their own tranny
Mazda stopped using Jatco transmissions around 2010
It's aisin transmission
I got a great deal on my used 2017 Mazda 6 because it has a standard transmission. I've had zero unscheduled maintenance in over 2 years of ownership and I'm over 80k miles.
I paid 20 grand for mine brand new too (2016 Standard of course)! Best car I ever owned. Too bad I had to get rid of it when we had our 4th kid. Now I'm in an older 2009 cx9 lol
My Mazda 3 is great! There's a supercharger available for it now! I've got it on order, can't wait.
I taught all my kids (now in their 30s) to drive a standard. This Mazda 6 would be a great car to teach your kids the passion and benefits of owning a manual.
2018 cx9 owner..smoothest and quietest car I’ve ever owned..
I have a Mazda protégé five speed over 282,000 and still runs
My mother in law was just rear ended in her 2014 Mazda 6 i Grand Touring with only 32k miles on it. They ended up totaling the car. Such a shame.
My father drives a Mazda. It's actually good.
Scotty, have you ever lifted off by waving your arms so vigorously? 😂 Merry Christmas!
If you look back at some of his earlier videos, especially the ones from local tv, he did get airborne at least once. These days, for safety precautions, you'll notice he always wears ballast in the form of large bunches of keys around the belt loops on his pants.
@@eternalextrapolations OMG! How funny! ,🤣
Picked up brand new 21 carbon edition before they were gone. Love it.
Mazda is going to be considered genius for bringing back a rear wheel drive straight six engine, the market is ready for it in my opinion, I loved the old Datsun z's with the straight six, and the Supra, the Cressida and the Maxima as well.
Unfortuantely Mazda recently announced they are canceling it.
Straight 6 rwd would have been amazing.
@@Argedis that's too bad for them, it's a vacant segment in the market , they could have sold many cars imo
Mazda6 are good cars unless it’s a 2006 :( maybe I’m just unlucky
