New Muse has a lot of passion but with a budget. You can't tell me Matt is not enjoying himself with all the trumpet players surrounding him as he shows up on stage with the epic deluxe version of Algorithm. But I do love early Muse. I wish I could timetravel,it would be the only chance I get to see Muse at some small theater doing a raw unpolished performance.
@D arguable but I get what OP means. Tempo is flowing, not everything is on point, Chris' falsetto is loud and shaky, we love it because the song and performers are awesome but some aspects of this video could be found at your local club. Which is normal, that's where Muse was coming from at that time. Love the performance but they definitely improved

This song, is truly underrated. Easily one of their most underrated songs that deserves A LOT more attention. Not one of their top 10 best songs, but it is still amazing regardless how much this short 3 minute song keeps progressing forth. Every time vocal change sounds like that one could just be the chorus, but it always keeps going foreword.
I actually like how they evolved through their albums up to The 2nd Law. I am a huge sucker for orchestral and symphonic arrangements, and I hope that they tap into it more in the future, the 2 most recent albums were lacking in that aspect in my opinion. @@slashholt23
One of those songs that only "old muse" can play properly with such a vibe and power. Less profesional, more batshit crazy and weird in a good way. Other songs would be: Showbiz, Micro Cuts, Muscle Museum, Cave, Uno.

i still remember crying to this song like 8 years back, but after some time, i learned that this song was about his father and how her mom is bullied fom afar and stuff. it breaks my heart even more every time i hear Escape. :')
I honestly just keep coming back to this video! This has got to me my favorite live Muse song of my favorite studio recorded song. Escape will always have such a special place in my heart!
Matt is no Satriani on the guitar but I can tell you one thing for sure, he plays with sheer emotion whilst playing (a lot of musicians lack emotion). It's true to say that he had a lovely style of play, I mean listen to the prelude of this performance.

It's late but I hope you will se this ^^ So, that's because he was playing with 2 amps (certainly the matchless or the fender deville) and his Marshall or the Soldano in the same time with The Whammy pedal. Cause the pedal has 2 out : dry and wet. So there is one amp which receive the signal of the pitch (certainly +1 octave) of the whammy, and the other don't. He use this technique during a long time, like in the solo during New Born :)
Fabio Mastrantuono you're welcome ! :) And yeah that's an interesting thing to play the with 2 amps with whammy ! Like I say he use this technique during a long time , but I think he use this technique a lot with Roland VG8 too. Like in Sober and the outro off Sunburn , when he does crazy sruff in a lot off gigs in this era :)
DowserGratt I believe that he uses another pedal (with the two outputs) as I have checked the internet and the only Whammy with two outputs is the DT which came out in the early 2010s, therefore it is possible Matt used another two output pedal, he still used the Whammy for the pitch shifting though.
The above is referred to a marvelous and outstanding band apparently dead in 2006. Don't beat me for what I say but I believe some of you are gonna stick to my standpoint. The ongoing career proves to be so different from before and it has been such a disappointing point towards towards us all. As I'm one of the first ones who fell in love with Muse I want to deem the previous albums praiseworthy and flawless, but it all ended up with the decision of clenching a newer approach, they lately grabbed oodles of commercial music and they didn't hesitate putting this s-it in their songs. They were so proud of that way to stir rock and electronic and it definitely changed my life, I quit commercial streams right away because I grasped how delightful and helpful it might be to listen to to the bands coming from the alternative scene. At that time I throw commercial music away, it was a new track to follow and I told myself: Watch out! There will be no way out! I answered: I don't mind if I go on forever but I love the way I feel when listening to Muse and Placebo! I probably reached my purpose but I'd have loved to see Muse on the beginning stage and not surrounded by 12 and 13 years old guys.

See escape live. And cry. It's my favourite muse song. Love the feels it provokes.
