Muse, one of the most innovative bands of our time. Taking elements from classical composers like Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, and Chopin, fusing it with electrifying stadium rock and hauntingly dark lyrics about fear, God, damnation, and the powers that always watch us. So many people don't even understand what Muse is about and why they're so incredible and it's a damn shame.
+ledhead504 even your comment alone already do enough justice to this god-sent band/musicians
Muse aren't just any band their music is a pure form of art that can fully invoke the inner emotions some of which you thought could never be possible until now. Muse does what their name implies, they don't just create music, they create art.
Perfect definition!!!
you have understood the spirit and te essence of this almost miracle called MUSE.
I'd say the reason people don't like muse is precisely because they know what they are about. Never going to get a bright happy funny pop song of happy unconditional bliss from muse. It's cool if you don't like Muse, it can be quite heavy and every song carries along with it the same mood & colour. Too much of the same can be quite boring too, praise be to every other music out there.
*smile*
Perhaps some can relate to this:
There’s something about their music that seems to sooth me in moments of anger, depression, anxiety, etc. The music is just so easy on the ears but also gives off an eery calmness that I just can’t explain. It makes me feel like everything will be ok-and in so many different situations. It’s almost like when you have a bad day and finally get home, and being home brings you comfort. Well listening to their music has that same effect. I came to my place of comfort.
I love Muse so much. They touch my soul. Since 1999. So I understand you.
I perfectly relate to what u wrote. And this perfomance is so deep!
People think that Muse is just some rock band out of England known just for their light shows. But this, this is the true form of Muse which is a band that doesn't just make rock music, but a band that makes extraordinary pieces of music that can be compared to the like of the greats like Chopin, Mozart and Beethoven. Muse stands by their band name and does exactly as the definition means which is art.
And then they released Drones. DGMW, I love MUSE, absolutely my all time favourite band and I know I won't get sympathy here, but Drones is garbage. I hope it was just an itch Matt needed to scratch and they can get back to making music like this wonderful, wonderful song, music that makes you *feel*.
thedr00 I actually loved Drones, but everyone's tastes are different.
Doctor Infallible
I agree with you, man. Drones makes me feel plenty, and often times I'm afraid to listen to it because of how emotional I tend to get. Same with The 2nd Law. To be honest, I love almost all of their music, and I certainly love all their albums. There isn't a single song on any of them that I don't like.
And if someone doesn't agree, that's fine. What I like is my business, and then other people can like what they like. But be respectful. I don't like a lot of things, but I don't call it garbage just cause it isn't for me. Some things are objectively bad in technical terms, but not Muse. You might not like it, but it's still good music. It's just not for you. You get what I'm saying? 😊
Jane Cat Exactly.
"Drones" is dark and addictive.
That piano solo gives me chills every time! This whole song is a masterpiece. The quiet start all the way to the build-up and that explosion of a solo. Beautiful. One of my favorite songs of all time.
Reading your comment makes me feel happy, it's exactly how I feel about this song, I mean.... That piano solo blow my head up every time like it was the first time
Message from the pass/ future ?
Same! 👽🎹🤘❣️
I would class Matt as one of the best musicians in the world right now and ever. Damn this is so good. He's such an awsome source of inspiration. Thank you for existing.
yea i agree with you the song is beautiful but! if you know hi take in this song too much of Rachmaninovs harmonies actually from 2 piano concerto.and chords as well.you cant say that hi is the best musicant on the world.
Slavik Terentiev Hello, he is the 21st Century Prodigy! For sure!
Penda
Johan Gummesson "One of" Hahaha, nice euphemism
+Johan Gummesson He has indeed a sublime talent!
+tara hawk Have you noticed this beautiful voice, I think he sounds like an angel
Voice of an angel, perfection, greatest live band i've ever seen... greatest band on earth
100 percent agree no one else comes even close live
His long white coat makes this performance twice as cool as it already is.
ThinWhiteAxe i always wanted that coat. Never happened ofcourse 😂
No joke I feel like I am Matt when I wear my lab coat during my science class lol
@@farhanmahalludin Hahaha lol, me too 😂

whats sad is that only a few people cheered in the beginning :( Such an excellent and dark song
+Isaac Morales majority/most people sadly/unfortunately don't seem to be able to understand/comprehend deeply of their 'darker' music/songs,. especially nowadays,. it's ironically a more 'happy, upbeat, & pop-ish' songs like Starlight, that majority of (especially the 'NEW fans') Muse fans seems to be so excited & go crazy the most.. it's just such a pity that this 'dark' yet beautiful, elegant song/music always got so very underrated..
Most people/human beings just simply can't understand, let alone appreciate, the 'deep' songs/music (or even things!).. sad but true reality..
+Isaac Morales Well, the song was new at that time and it wasn't even a hit, so...
That is exactly how it was Roskilde 2004 when they started to play Black Out, very phew cheered when they started, infant I feel like I was the only one.
Watch their performance of this song in Seattle 2010. I was amazed by how many people cheered for this song. Seattle must have a strong Muse fanbase
Maybe its not that they didn't appreciate it, but they haven't heard it before the concert.
After 11 years listening to muse, I'm close enough to say that this is my favorite song of them, I mean...it has it all ! , Such an underrated song
My thoughts ...after 12 years of listening.
It seem God is descending from heaven to earth till it s playing
*cough, cough Fury? 😄 Everytime i think i found a new favourite song from Muse, "Fury" turns up and slap me in the face.
MUSE THE BEST BAND IN THE FUCKING WORLD!!!
Holy fuck... He's god
Fkn knew it!
Pretty close
Glastonbury 2OO4. When Dominic Howard's father died just after the live...RIP :(
+Peti Cooki Yes, so sad
RIP... But I'm sure that he died happy...
No kidding, if I had been there, I would have died too. This is just pure emotion and beauty.
I'm pretty shure he didn't meant happy like you mean it...
Leon Baumg I know what he meant, and it is unfortunate. What I tried to slip in was that Dom's father must have had a blast and must have been very proud of his son for just that brief moment.
Matt had such grand visions back then. Ruled by Secrecy needs to be beamed out across the entire world. He must have felt like a God on that piano that night.
He’s too self effacing for that, but clearly LOVES and INHABITS music for all he’s worth. We just stand and admire the brilliance.
3:42 - 4:00 God damn it Matt!! that part is too good
When he looks in the camera

Brain : cry

HONESTLY LMKFNAJBHWJEILD
I’m currently learning this song on piano myself and one of the reasons it’s so hard is because I’m resisting tears. By far the most unique band I know even compared to classics and legends. I honestly think it will end up being the most unique band I ever know in my existence. I mean seriously Muse, take a bow, if you got what I mean ;)
You should post videos of your progression!! Or if you've already mastered it. I too would cry cuz this song is just too beautiful
If I ever watch this song live I will literally jizz in my pants
So...I've seen it live in a closed stadium and let me tell you, it was indeed an orgasmic experience.
Me too. It was not in a closed stadium though. But it was on a fairly small stage on Roskilde 2004 called Arena, when they were touring for Absolution. Plus it was the perfect time in my life to see them. Muse were peaking musically in their career and I was peaking as well in my fandom.
I doubt very much that they’ll ever play this is again, with the release of new album ever two or three years... It’s a pity though, I wish I could have seen them earlier. I liked this era a lot more than Drones and Simulation Theory.
why dont they just record their live performances and use them for their albums? cuz i hear no difference and sometimes lives sound even better
David97Kim I hear the difference - and i love the Studioversion...
I think the absolution era was their best work . They made all their old songs better and the falsettos and the screams and the high notes are just nostalgic feeling for me . Also gets me very high feeling . I also just got done smoking .
Makes you wonder where has Mathew Bellamy been, what has he experienced ?
I can't, this is so beautiful and mind blowing. thanks you for existing Matt holy shit
That's Muse for you. They're not just a rock band, they're what their name exactly implies, art.
Aurelye venegas not just Mathew , it takes 3;)
My ears can't handle his voice as it's comming straight outta his soul .. this angelic tone is pure emotions .. Muse has always been my favorite band because of masterpieces like this.
I personally think that Dom's drumming on this song in particular sets the mood so goddamn good.
I've passed through depression several years, and music has been always there for me, I feel lucky to have bands such as Muse and Radiohead, both are my favourites, always with me, feeling sad and crying...
can i be that microphone
i wanna be that microphone too!!!!!!!
I want to be Matt's microphone & guitars ;) ;) xD lmao
oh yeah... or a piano.
I think Matt has some kind of record at breaking instruments from absolution tour, good luck :D
Oskari Toivonen it was 140 guitars during the Absolution Tour
This to me is just the most perfect song ever written
3:01 to 3:42 Jesus coming down to Earth and taking us to his planet of perfection.
Jesus? No. Thats pure emotions not Jesus. Dont think that Matt would like this compared to Jesus
4:00 that look on his face. you can tell he feels the emotions of that lyrics.
Earth IS jesus' planet tho :o
@@Mika-lc9im you're a very intolerant bi*ch
I am an atheist, although I like this comment. No need to have fights in this short life
it is incredible the way he sings...he never misses a note and he could be recorded any time.
That for sure, but he loves to mispronounce words and i Love it anyway
One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. His voice is particularly ghost-like here, in a hauntingly beautiful way
That shift at 4:02 gives me chills every time. I always have to rewind it a couple times.
I fully agree
I’ve officially counted....
this is my 50th time watching this song live wishing I could actually see them live 😅😢
This is the only song i havent seen alive, when that days comes, i will rest in peace
This is spectacular. Lyrics could not be more important and crucial. The most stunning and beautiful art of this and the last century.
Definitely one of Muses’s more mysterious, and on some level, metaphysical, pieces. It is truly sensed as other-worldly in its own dark atmosphere, and scary that its theme may well be in ours. Bellamy’s falsetto-vocals on this number are mesmerizing to me, and I wonder, “Where has he been, and what has he seen?” Another number safely in its place (again, for me) among the handful of the top tier. “Change in the air, and they'll hide everywhere, and no one knows who's in control.”
This is one of the songs where I watch Matt Sing with true emotion and passion. Sometimes that is lacking in muses more recent tours. Though I adore them, I miss this emotion in a performance rather than the spectacular visuals. But really, this is stunningly gorgeous
I agree so much... They recent song lack something from older songs like this one

Matt its a big big talent , amazing !
Pure genius, crazy talent, vocal and piano, guitar, best band. I hope the Muse to come back to Korea to perform after the covid-19 virus is over.
Speachless I cant even... they are so amazing
This live version absolutely shits all over the album version... still can’t stop listening and it’s almost 2020!
I love song, wonderfull!!!!

Absolution will forever be my favorite Muse album. This album was their peak both musicianship-wise and emotion-wise. I'm not judging them for the direction they took since BHaR or anyone who enjoys and loves their more recent albums.
I'm just a little sad that there won't be more of this kind of music. Because Muse themselves won't come back to this, and no other band can even come close.
Still grateful for what we got though. Man, 2003 was a hell of a year.
Amazing!! Matt is a genius.... the climax..... the calm.... the storm..... the end of the song is epic....
Aah the old days...when muse had no shame of playing a dark piano ballad even at glastonbury
This performance is just really incredible to me. Love the music, the lab coat, and just the way he stares into the camera. Just the kind of performance I wish I could of see live, but I was only eight at this time. ❤❤
This man is a genius. This is music people. It doesn't matter what century he would have been born in 17th, 18th, 19th he would have been at the top. For me he's up there with Beethoven, Liszt, timeless music. PEOPLE THIS IS REAL MUSIC NOT THIS BRUNO MARS TRASH, PLAYING CHORDS LIKE A NEW BORN BABY. TIME WILL PASS AND THIS MUSIC WILL LIVE FOREVER.
Im with you! He inspired me to make my own band!
Slavic Melnyk Same here, but I still have to learn some stuff and I have no people to make a band with
Marcela Padilla if your interested we can do the thing how other people do it around the world. We can record our selves playing a song lets say plug in baby for example and we put the videos together so its like a whole band cover. what instruments do you play?
I play the piano, but I can't say I'm good at it. I haven't had a class in months, so maybe I'm not ready yet, but your idea is magnificent. My instrument is not decent enough to record something with it. I really want to improve in piano because the instrument is beautiful, I love music (From classical to rock), I also want to compose one day, I want to be part of something like a band, and also because school is sucking the life out of me and I won't take stress much longer. And what about you?
We are so similar yeah school takes up most of my time and I enjoy playing the piano I've played for almost 8 years. I play I wide variety of instruments from drums to piano to guitar to saxophone so I'll be up for anything!
Total goosebumps-almostcrying-musegasm!!
Loving the mood of this song, with those seemingly delayed and out-of-phase synth lines... And of course hardpiano
And after that deeply heartfelt emotional performance, just "cheers" at the end haha
yep, thats Muse😂😂😂💜
Someone try to tell me again that muse is wannabe Radiohead after seeing/listening to this epicness.
Mrs Thom Yorke
Listen to any of their songs, there’s clear Radiohead similarities. They’re both incredible bands in their own right. Muse in certainly inspired but completely different at the same time.

i will always remember this song though not for a typical reason. i was diagnosed with rectal cancer almost two months ago (august 25th). while i waited for treatment i coped with it by rewriting entire muse albums at a time. i did it in reverse chronological order. each album had a different theme which made it easier to rewrite all the songs. when i reached this one is was running out of theme ideas so i came up with an idea for a concept album about a couple and their lives together at different stages. starting off with the end of everything (apocalypse please renamed the end) then going back to the beginning (time is running out renamed life is running out).
i had this grand vision of a happy album where they meet get married have kids and die together or something but as anybody who writes can tell you, you don't really have control over how a story plays out. i especially had to follow the music and it's tone. i could of written happy lyrics to sad and deep sounding heavy songs but it wouldn't sound right and the album has a lot of deep serious heavy songs especially towards the end. so the album turned out to be more like a couple meets and gets together, breaks up, the guy goes through trauma without her, they get back together, get married, then immediately divorced, the ex-wife ends up in a mental institution and at end of the album gets out finally and seemingly reconciles with her ex-husband.
sorry for the roundabout way of getting to what this has to do with this song and why i will always remember it but i wanted some context first. this song is beautiful and i wrote beautiful but sad lyrics about healing and hope for the future. i wanted the album to have a happy ending but instead a list minute soul crushing twist happens that brings it to a terribly dark end specially if you interpret it a certain way. i hear that horrific twist every time the final part after the epic piano solo happens.
i rewrote the whole album in one day (but not one sitting) and i felt confused as to what the hell just happened after the final song. after sitting back and thinking about the story i wrote i realized that it was basically the story of me and my ex. i mean not exactly but pretty damn close. we didn't have a happy ending either but the whole twist never happened to our relationship.
anyway sorry for all the text. if you are reading this then thank you for putting up with it. i hope you understand why this song means so much to me.
Thanks for sharing, it sounds really cool! Have you eventually recovered ?

We all as a hardcore diehard forever and ever muse fans love all their sons, well we love some of the more than others, we love specific lives more than others, but we can't say which one we love the most, cause like if you go crazy over Showbiz live in Nice and then listen to Knights of cydonia live at war child.... well you understand.
So I'd just say that this live, this song I keep dear and close to my heart. If world ends I want this song to be heard. I just love it more than my wife, kids, family, country, job anything...
