    I can't thank you enough for posting this information. We bought our '22 F-350 Lariat DRW last summer. "Right Turn Signal Fault" appeared immediately while pulling our '17 Airstream. The Ford dealer said it was in the trailer. The Airstream was totaled by a hail storm and replaced with a '21 GD Momentum 397TH. Same problem and same story from Ford. (different dealer this time.) After a false start wiring the resistor to the green wire (they say that's the standard pinout for 7pin connectors), it worked a charm connected to the brown wire. I've been dealing with this from Indiana to California to Arizona to Florida, back to Arizona and now to Montana. It will be nice not to have that thing nattering at me every time I hit the brakes. Thanks again.

      Funny how they love tonpoint to the trailer instantly. And yes it was so very annoying with the adaptive cruise. Glad it helped out. Thank you for watching.

    Here’s one for you. When hooked up to fifth wheel I get a “trailer lighting module fault” on the dash. No left signal, no brake light. Something that happened suddenly and Ford says there’s no service notice.

      @HappyTailsRVing  Рік тому +1

      I cant even begin to tell you how many different dealerships we went to before one listened. They all say "well we put a similator on it and it worked fine. It has to be your trailer." Well i am sure you are aware it is not your trailer but rather the Trailer control module. Have them check for communication failure codes.

    I’m due to pick up our new F350 SRW diesel etc etc late next week or week after. I’ve driven nothing but Fords all my life and but now I’m not impressed with ford build quality or how the company treats its customers. This will be my last one I buy and I probably have at least 2 more to buy before I’m done.
    Thanks again

    This is a very common problem since the 2017 SuperDuty redesign. TONS of discussion on forums for years. Why are dealers still giving people the run around? Easiest fix is to use this: CURT 57003 LED-Compatible 7-Way RV Blade Vehicle-Side Trailer Wiring Adapter. It adds required resistance for trailers using LED lights. No modification to your trailer required. Useful if you tow multiple trailers. Hope this helps others.

    I had a 2018 F150 and I would sometimes get a fault on my left signal light. It was annoying, especially when I first noticed it, but I was relieved that the turn signal was actually working ok. I no longer have the vehicle, but I'm guessing that one of those CURT adapters mentioned below may have corrected the problem. Thank you for the video.

    Problem - identified
    Solution - identified
    Cause - still not known!
    There could be a million & one things that could have contributed to the fault but unless you have the logic flow diagram from Ford Engineering, it would be next to impossible to identify the cause. Maybe there were discussions on a forum but someone had to firgue it out first.

    This is happening to me with my '23 Superduty. Turn Signal Faults, Trailer Disconnected Faults, and the like. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything "wrong" with the 7 pin connection.

    • @HappyTailsRVing
      @HappyTailsRVing  6 місяців тому

      Correct because they only run a brake simulator on it. We ended up going to probably a dozen different dealers before one actually cared enough to dive deep into it. There is something wrong with the tcm programming and it drops communication randomly. There is a soft code that needs to be cleared . This is what they told me. And since we got the truck back we haven’t had any issue with it since. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself, lol. Also there is a TSB for the trailer module out now. Hope this helps.

    I have the same problem with my 2018 F-250, with and without the trailer hooked up. So now what’s wrong? • @HappyTailsRVing
      @HappyTailsRVing  Рік тому

      With or without a trailer...that obviously is a truck issue, but i would start with your wiring. Mainly by the plug/ check the harness where it plugs into said plug. Check for any type of corrosion and securement. It might not have a tight connection and causing a voltage drop and or loss of signal. I would also apply some dielectric grease it will definitely help both of these issues. If that doesnt work i would have a dealer look at your TCM programming and make sure it didnt drop a pid or something. I know clear as mud...lol. i would check connections first.

  • @21psd

    My 2021 F-350 also does this, and its always a fault for the right-side like yours. It has been driving me nuts trying to troubleshoot it. I was almost ready to replace my 7-pin trailer plug thinking it was a bad connection at that pin. Just to clarify how you wired this: you are adding the + of the resistor to the brown terminal, and adding the - of the resistor to the ground terminal, but keeping all the existing bus bar connections as they are? So basically the resistor is a jumper from the brown to the ground?

    • @HappyTailsRVing
      @HappyTailsRVing  2 роки тому +1

      Exactly. Yes it was only the right turn/brake that would throw the fault. And yes its enough to drive a man to drink..I am still two weeks out from my appt to get the module reflashed. But for now this has worked. We traveled from Florida to Texas after the install and it has worked flawlessly. Dont replace the 7way. It doesnt help. I went down that road too. I hope this helps.
