- You can now AFK for up to 25 minutes in oldschool runescape! Recently jagex has allowed a runelite plugin which can extend your logout timer. So although now you can stay logged in for 25 minutes, is there actually a way to take advantage of this?
The answer is yes there is and they really are some unique methods. Today I am going to be showing you some of my favorite methods i use when I want to afk in runescape.

For the Karam method, you can bank faster using Karamja gloves to the gem mine bank chest and then quest cape/con cape to a fairy ring. As you can wear them you lose no inventory spots
You could also use the fishing spot outside Priff in the elven region which never moves and is better XP I believe
You can also have your demon butler bank your fish for even faster trips. Don't think this works with the fish barrel but should be fastest without it

using the pump at blast furnace allows for 25 minutes too, about 12k str xp per h

For the Guardians of the Rift method, you only need 150 total points to be qualified as completing the game and getting the runecrafting xp. No need to craft both catalytic and elemental as long as you're not bothered by getting equal reward points and you get 150 total points. There's more in-depth info on the runecrafting training wiki under the GotR section

i just splash and put a heavy object on my space bar, ez 6 hours of afk. I start it before i go to work, then logout and login to reset the 6h timer during lunch and easily afk the entire day while i work

for some1 who has mines close to 500k stardust on alot of solo stars.
I can inform you that you can afk from 1h 50 mins up to 2h 15 minutes if you find it as it crashes. And as a solo miner you get the most dust and will be busy for the whole 2h with only a 4 star. Best is ofc to just back to back mine lvl 1 and 2 stars.
Bravo I agree my ironman did f2p stardust till I had like 10 bag of gem before I go p2p while I was doing consulting work lmao on my work laptop.
I just made sure I closed runelite whenever I need share screen.
Now I still had around 150+ emerald ring and since I had drakan medallion, I no longer need emerald ring for banking

25 minute logout timer is actually huge the 5 minute log was a big reason why I didn't bother keeping this on second monitor anymore and took a break
yeah it felt like the game rewarded botters rather than legitimate players with the 5 minute bullshit
I agree, but the biggest thing is just having the AFK notification pop up where it pops up as soon as you need to play again. I used to do the NMZ method, and it made it super easy to max like 5 different PvP builds. It even works with as little as ~40-42def. If you stand in certain corners and use specific monsters, you can even survive for ~20min with just 10-13def. 1def generally was just too low though.
I miss the days of 6hr AFK, lol.

For the Karambwan method I did con cape for home tele with a fairy ring and Drakans medallion for bank. Both items you can wear and have unlimited teles (so you dont forget to replace them like a ring of dueling). Cons not cheap but if you have the cape you have it and it's a good tip. Otherwise use the inv slot and bring house tabs. I fished 40k using that method and got 99. Used an alt to cook it so I could do other things. Was easy gains!
Good method. Also adding for anybody reading that can't afford Cons cape, Quest Cape works the same way. Drakan tele to bank, Quest Cape tele to Legends fairy ring. Pretty much the same banking time.
On mobile I use the zanaris bank so I don't have to set the configuration every time.
@@lildmckay on mobile if you long click the fairy ring there is an option to use your last code, just fyi
@@ryanrichards4901 only problem with that is that you fairy ring to the bank and fairy ring back to the fishing spot so it's a different code every time.

Splashing on mobile on a low lvl monster like imps, chickens, etc, was afk up to the 30 min logout. All you have to do is slightly touch or move the screen every 29 minutes.
It's actually ~25min, but ok. And after 20min, people can PJ and you get instalogged.

for the shooting star, at 99 mining and you find a solo star (which is more common than you think) any t4+ star you can afk for the full 2 hour star cycle

I literally just got the fish barrel at 83kc Temp yesterday and was wondering how I could put it to use lol
stars on total level worlds (usually 1750+) are almost always super afk, most of the time you'll only get one or two other players mining the star. stars on normal worlds will usually be super crowded and they'll be gone before you know it.
star miners / group stars cc staff member here; have some extra tips.
You can box an NPC such as a rat, spider or goblin in most locations to afk up to 6 hours. Do know that stars disappear every 2 hours after landing. Note that you have to re-click once the star degrades.
You can use your celestial ring / signet for saving up stardust inside of it to prevent it from losing it to a pker when mining them in the wilderness.
Do you continue to mine once the star degrades a tier with this method?

Someone who actually knows what they are talking about here; have some tip corrections.
NPC boxing only allows you to afk for 30 minutes.
All but 1 dust is lost when PK'd with a ring.
Finally, a real star mining tip: Don't use star miner CC's. The less miners at a star the longer the star lasts. By using a CC the star will be so populated that it degrades at its max rate which means you will have to spend more time traveling to new stars. This results in considerably less xp/h and less actual afk time than if you just scout the stars yourself and find one solo or with just a few people. You can afk the whole wave at just one or two stars instead of the 4-5+ you would need to go to with a star miner CC.

Yes, you have to click when it degrades. But it will prevent you from logging out in case you're not paying attention (which was especially useful before the logout timer was introduced). I have edited my original post to reflect this.
No, Npc boxing allows 6 hours afking when you don't attack back. Turn auto retaliate off and sit back.
Also being pked with the ring, I specifically mentioned storing it *in* the ring aka charging it. Charges don't get lost when you die, and you can get them back by uncharging it.
And yes, your "real star mining tip" has been reflected and explained in the video already.

Star miners clans tend to ruin the AFK-ness of the shooting star. If one scout catches wind of the star, expect it to be swarmed and the star gets mined within minutes. Definitely scout your own stars and try to solo.
They use bots to check almost all the worlds. odds of finding a star alone is very slim

fyi: fishing karambwans is the fastest non-ticking method of getting heron. I'd also suggest quest cape and crafting cape for the quickest fairy ring and banking respectively

you can also now AFK a whole castle wars game if you have an alt. Just capture the flag one time and afk for 20 min.

I mined a star for about 45 min in al Kharid before becoming mem a month ago
karambwans are also the best fishing pet chance as well!
Worth noting that there is a very easy animation stall you can do between GOTR games to make it even more afk.
Stand so you're 2 ticks (4 tiles if you're running) away from the spot, click on it, then click one of the skills in the menu to open up the skill guide right after.
If you timed it right, your character should be standing near the mining spot, and when the minigame starts, the game will close your skill interface, which will cause your character to begin mining. This lets you afk during the time between games as well!

You need to do 1 quest and a mini quest, then go from 9 to 10 rc to do the gotr quest, that gets you to 27 rc

For the karambwan banking method, if you have a quest cape, just bank at the heroes guild 3rd floor after teleporting with cape, then you can tp right back next to the fairy ring to go back to fishing. I'd imagine it saves some time, and this is of course if you have the quest cape.
If you have the quest cape you should be using the ToB bank teleport at a minimum

Good idea i think mount karluum teleport with radas blessings for bank then use quest cape teleport for going back to the fishing spot would be nice

How do I submit a rare drop?
1 method you missed out on is dark crab fishing in the resource area deep in the wildy. The fishing spot never moves and there's an NPC called piles that will note your fish for 50gp each. Each dark crab is roughly 1.1k each so it's a pretty decent money maker and there are a few clever ways to escape pkers, best 1 being the ZGS spec dd and logout under the player at gate entrance. There is a designated CC that only do dark crab fishing for more info on this and they have a full discord.

I think an honorable mention should go to amethyst mining. You'll only rarely pass the 5min mark but it's still pretty afk, and at current prices I'm getting 325k/hr.

It’s probably better to Dh, which You want the lowest hp possible for that so you use less absorption pots

Want to point out a fresh T4 star is enough to last you 2 hours solo, no need to hunt T9's.

Another great combat exp grind is to use full guthans and kill rogues in the desert.
Other AFK for >5 mins ideas:
1) Blast furnace pump is now 25 minutes of AFK
2) If you don't have 65 fishing, Karambwanji spots move very infrequently, the fish are stackable, and you can use them when you fish Karambwans in the future
3) Guthans against anything that don't lose aggro is as AFK as NMZ, plus you can pick up any good loot off the floor when you check you're still logged in. I often did this for Dark Beast tasks even before the RL update, and just went to do some stuff IRL for 20 minutes. Depending on the monster, Ring of Wealth is a useful addition to pick up coins for you, at the cost of a max hit or two.
4) Churning milk into cheese - I haven't measured AFK time, and this is completely pointless when you can just cook an inventory of almost anything else for more XP per inventory, even if you stand still for several minutes afterwards... but the point is that you *could* AFK it for more than 5 minutes and still be getting XP! Maybe it'll be a useful niche training method for a snowflake account, idk.
5) You can now AFK entire CW games for the tickets (assuming you aren't killed and kicked out of the waiting room), and Trouble Brewing can now be AFK for the entire game once you have earned the maximum* 100 Pieces of Eight per game.
*you can get more than 100 Pieces of Eight, but that requires your team to actually make the rum, and it only gives you 1 Piece of Eight per bottle over the 100 cap, which obviously isn't worth it.
Bonus AFK idea:
6) Fight caves with Justiciar, DFS and a Blood Fury will allow you to AFK the fight caves with auto retaliate until the 360s appear (probably 15-20 minutes if you're not touching the PC the entire time). It may be possible to AFK all the way to Jad with an Ely (instead of DFS) and camping pray mage & piety the entire run, but I can't afford the gear to test it, and you'd still have to drink pots every 2-3 minutes from wave 31 onwards anyway. Possibly useful for lazy pet hunters with GP to burn?

Back in 2010 I afk in the desert with full Guthans on auto retaliate and a gods cape.. I forget the location but they will always auto attack you because the god cape or item ur wearing

Using zanaris to bank is around the same amount of tiles and ticks to run to and you don’t need to change the fairy ring code each time… def faster than the chasm for karams but still slower than being maxed and using max cape perks. 🤷🏻♂️

Falling stars wont work cause you gotta re click when the rock goes down a level. It will work for a bit, but not 25 minutes like the thumbnail said.
If you solo mine a star tier 9 you won't finish it before it despawns
Why not Overloads?
I like that it is now possible to increase this cause when I AFK, I REALLY AFK as OSRS is on a tablet in front of my keyboard while I play another game on PC and sometimes I get too focused and forget that it is running lol.

Why super combat rather than overload?
@hecks soda overload last for 5mins and boosts higher stats

when a star changes to lower tier you have to click it again so wouldnt be full 25min afk

At NMZ the overload potion takes 50hp away and does the same as a super combat but the combat levels don't lower once per minute. They stay for the entirety of the potion.
overload last 5 mins, scb with preserve, the 20 mins, from 118 to 105, this is about afk'ing, overload requires you to be there and available to be active on a period of 5 min
@@BTChanOSRS Most of the time you need to keep hp low for absorb anyway..... 5 minutes is the perfect amount of time to come back and check the game in my experience. 5 minutes 100% afk in nmz = 5 hp... 5hp on absorbs gives you ALOT less time in the NMZ

you CANNOT afk for 20mins in nmz anyway... You'll die 100% of the time.

@@wabbajedda the bosses can only hit for the hp you have, so if you have 1hp they only hit for 1, which saves many doses of the absorption potion compared to doing it at full health
@@wabbajedda If your 1hp the mobs only hit for 1 damage, Making your absorb pot last a lot longer than being at full hp.
For Karam method you can just fairy ring tele to zanaris, theres a cooking range and bank right there
