- Surprise at the exhaust shop flex pipe repair and resonator delete. Started out to be just a resonator delete job. Turned into a flex pipe job on top of it. Since I do not have the tools or welder it was the better part of valor to just take it to Midas and have them do the work. Midas is not a sponsor. All work paid for with MACT funds.

No catalyst converter? I hate them too but how do you get it to pass inspection?
Odly, I just brought my Explorer in for a res delete and they dsicvered one of the flex pipes was actually failing. needless to say, I had that, the Res and 3rd cat done. 3rd cat removed and The vehicle does feel much more responsive and has nice notes out of the back. I haqve a Sprot with the 3.5ltr twins. Should have done it sooner lol. already took note of in increase in fuel eco too.

You did that job perfectly it can also be done by keeping the resonator correct? And it’ll stay just as quiet as it was before the flex pipe broke?

You have plans with the cats? I have a 13 edge with a 3.5 duratec too with mid muf delete and drilled holes in the res because it’s comin off soon haha
How long did the 1st flex pipe last?
125,000 miles But this was a city car. My other Edges that were highway cars made up to or over 300,000 and still using the original flex pipe.

Ummm any welds that require that much grinding and clearly show that much porosity are indeed not the work or a "good welder". He made have joined the pipes but these were not good welds.
agree. However the the replacement part was subpar and failed within 18 months thus I made a video on how to replace the Y pipe with a new flex pipe from Ford. So running good again.
MacT why did resonator get deleted????
Just for sound. Does nothing else to improve any performance. It is like being 16 yrs old again. LOL
