The problem is, the MCU has trained all of us to look at all of these movies as pieces of a puzzle. Take it on its own (even with the references) and it's a good flick and a LOT of fun!
I understand that point, I think for me it was less about the formula more about the basics of storytelling and the end result left me wanting more from that, though I was very happy to see where it shined in regards to the cameos, jokes, action etc.
Solid Review, dude! Though I really can see why this film wasn't all too great for you, I personally had a BLAST w/ it. Loved Jackman and Reynolds' chemistry together, and as someone who still finds this Deadpool humor hilarious, this may be the funniest MCU film in my opinion.

Fair review man, shame to hear it didn't entirely work for you! I haven't been to see it yet as I am currently away in Lanzarote but I definitely plan to see it once I return! Trust me, I'm dying to!

I found the movie disappointing. I like comedy but you need more than that to make a good superhero movie. I liked when Wolverine told Deadpool to shut up!
