@@bigalthecrusher - if you have the 8R and do the swap it took about 4 hours. just because you have to take off the entire lower and upper fairings on the right side of the bike. the instructions are for the 8s and that would be much easier. it went back together very well. sounds better than this as well.

Since I'm pretending to own a Suzuki GSX 8S (I'm not even kidding) this video has been very useful to watch. (My 22 year old SV650 is well past it's best so I'm imagining that I've replaced it with an 8S). I was thinking that the 8S just needed to sound better and produce a bit more power and torque to completely sort it and then I found this video. I can't wait to fire my new Suzuki up and take it for a ride! Yehaaa!!! With it's mods it now goes and sounds great!. OK, it happens to the best of us, and it happened to me too but making us wait to hear how good it sounds and then putting this video out with terrible sound quality has just contributed to my mental health problems. .
I had to remove the upper fairing too, i probably could have done it without removing it but it made the install of the Akraprovic system a lot easier since i was by myself. i ended up using a 4mm hex on a swivel long neck to get to that bolt. I too found these bolts to be extremely challenging regardless,...
The manufacturer that allows for easy modification wins, the manufacturer that makes it difficult won’t sell motorcycles. End of conversation. The best bikes are built like legos.
Fair play to keeping the drop in the edit :-) Have the GSX-8R in mind for my next bike either end of year or start of next. Ticks all my boxes apart from the exhaust so totally looking to replace exhaust so thanks for the vid.
Happy someone put a exhaust install video for this bike. I like to do some research before changing parts on any vehicle. I tried putting my akropovic exhaust on my 8r the other day but stopped when i thought i had to take the radiator off, i can do it but it was cloudy and and might have rained and i have to do it outside happy i might not have take that radiator off now
Well I bought a yellow GSX8R did the same exact thing. Broke the clutch lever and it has the exact same marks on my bike. BTW the Suzuki levers are awesome!
2WDW is effect livy taking over the 'ECU flashing' market. Which is awesome, because they're unbelievably good at what they do. I'm not getting my ECU flashed 'till the Spring, but my ECU's going to 2WDW when that time comes.
I saw the 2025 8R the other day in all black and, I think I’ve zeroed in on my next bike. Going to test ride it soon. Used to a 1kcc, so the pipes and flash will be a necessity. HP is great but I need that torque.
Hey Yammie - great videos... Please tell your followers that when changing the O2 sensor over to the new pipe, NEVER touch the sensor with your fingers, or anything. Skin oils (invisible stuff) will burn on the sensor causing incorrect values being sent to the ECU, and could cause running issues. We always install new sensors if we suspect the owner has done a DIY job, and held the sensor in their bare hand. I always hold a sensor in a new microfibre, until it's tightened in.
That's why you should ALWAYS turn the handlebars all the way to one side, and pull back on them, before assuming the bike won't roll when it's in neutral. Granted the kickstand is a complicated device that requires decades of experience to operate properly.
wipe the header down with alcohol to remove fingerprints before first start up. I wiped mine down with wd40 after the alcohol and it turned out a nice golden color. can only see a few inches of it on the 8r tho lol
I dumped my H2 the 2nd week I owned it trying to park it facing forward (like my Goldwing, that has a reverse gear !!!) -Had to holler at a neighbor to lift her up as it had no bump's installed yet
@@JohnnieV I'd just like to add that using the quickshifter from 1st gear to 2nd is always clunky, that didn't go away. The only way for it not to be clunky is if you accelerate really hard in 1st gear and shift up at higher RPMs. But from 2nd gear onwards it is very smooth. Likewise when downshifting. I usually just use my clutch to shift from 1st to 2nd and thats it (unless im accelerating hard)
I love how he said that he despises working on fully faired overly complicated bikes, but he always is talking about how all the new bikes with new tech. are the best. 🤔
I would expect so. Your bike would be intaking more air into the system so you would need a tune to account for that. You could probably get away with not tuning the bike but understand that it will lose a bit of power and burn more fuel as a result.
Hey guys forgive me if im being totally dumb, im new to the whole bike thing, but i was wondering can you just put a slip on exhaust on the gsx8r for a better sound or do you have to change the full exhaust?
A slip on is just the end piece (basically the muffler part) of the exhaust so as long as you don't mess with the headers, you'll be fine and won't have to tune your bike

can I suggest you emphasize having everything together and loosely bolted, so it can be in line perfectly before tightening any of the bolts? and a paint pen on the bolt heads & what it is bolted to, so a quick glance can tell you if it ever tries to back out, as well as, knowing for sure that it is tight without having to go back and spanner check it when you finish... not just to look professional, but for your own peace of mind, and to know if someone else has messed with it after you have!
