House is the only one cold enough to ask a dying 9 year old what THEY want.
Not because he doesn't care, but because he does.
I like that House talked to the kid as a patient, unlike everyone else who talked to her as a kid.
Not just a patient, a person
As opposed to naive property
He probably wouldn't have changed her mind much, certainly not lasting, but it gave her a drop of autonomy back, letting her know it truly was her choice
He's always been more empathetic with kids. It's an interesting character quality.
@@Valientlink Intelligent people tend to treat kids more like people, because they still remember how they were treated as intelligent kids themselves by stupid adults.
@@SaturnineXTS Story of my life I suppose. Abusive childhood and I do tend to treat kids just like a normal person
@@Valientlink Mine wasn't abusive but I still remember adults reacting as if they saw some funny gag on the TV whenever I said something astute beyond my age lol
"And on this day, House's heart began to thaw."
-Dr. Seuss, maybe, probably
and grew 12 sizes it was a true Christmas miracle🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@SaraMorgan-ym6ue And then it exploded.
Probably a statement you ended up dreaming of after watching this. 😂
no matter how stoic you are.. you cannot refuse a kid's hug..
Amor fati my brother
i can
My father did...shows what you know!
...ow.

After watching the entire episode with that amazing character, not to mention actress Sasha Pieterse, I'm sure all of us were choked up with that discharge exit scene! I know I was.
wait didn't they tell her that her meds could cause hallucinations🤣🤣
I dont know how House could not hug her at the end. She was just adorable.
I prefer to think that when the camera cuts away from him and the little girl, and focuses on Cuddy and Wilson for a little while, that he did hug her a little bit. You can see it in his eyes, he was totally melted.
Man this kid is a good actress.
I literally came here to write this.
That kid nailed her performance
This was the most impressive thing about this whole show....the characters were almost always incredible....actors mostly nobody knew.....
Her singing in the bathroom was one of the cutest things ever
It’s never easy to make that kinda decision at any age, but at 9 it’s extremely much harder.
Many children have to go though this ever day and it’s never easy on one anyone when it doesn’t work out right
Any child who has something limiting their life, if they will be spending over 30% of what’s left in medical treatments then it’s definitely not fair to let them live
@YOURteacher_100: Thank you. From someone who would rather not.
The song playing at the end is In The Deep by Bird York. It won an Oscar for best original song for the movie Crash.
House:
"I'm not gonna kiss you. No matter what you say."
Andie:
*"It's ok. I was going for a hug ANYWAYS."*
House always has a soft side for the kids love that
Cancer is awful. God bless the families suffering and that have suffered.
Espically when it comes to kids (infints and older)
If God was involved, they wouldn't have cance
@@almightyk11 I will be smoked as sticking my head in the sand, I try to go as I can’t come close to understanding any of it. I can only tell you it wasn’t too long ago we thought the world was flat and witches were burned at the stake. For me, and this is my proof, my life works very well with God in it.
@@TG-to3dv "it wasn’t too long ago we thought the world was flat" Actually we have known it wasn't since the times of the anceint greeks. It's Judaism and abrahamic religions that pushed the idea. Also, guess which people were burning witches at the stake? Christians.
@@TG-to3dv all those things are caused by Christianity
This was one of the most bittersweet episodes of House.
"You're beautiful, no matter what they say"
"I'm not gonna kiss you, no matter what you say"
You know, it doesn’t happen often but it’s so interesting, and obviously written that way, how kids are almost always the ones who thank house and show their gratitude in such sincere ways.
It reminds me of that time they talk about how Wilson always gets gifts from his patients in gratitude and house doesn’t get any (or very many)
Probably my favorite episode of house. She was a great actress .
She really IS a good Actress. She didn't really have cancer and die. Repeat this after watching a show.... " It's only a show, it's only a show, ... " Don't cry it's only a show...
3:08 underrated joke
Wilson tells the mother,"If the clot's there and it's operable, we go get it and Andy walks out of here."
I've had a lot of surgeries. The hospital never lets you walk out, they always make you leave in a wheelchair, they won't let you walk out because of insurance reasons.
Smart as alert. He meant she will be alive and able to leave and not in a body bag.
depends on where you live, and what your condition is, i just walked out of hospital the other month after getting heart related surgery, but since my legs are fine and all vitals are okay they were okay with just releasing me as is, under the condition i dont drive myself due to leftover medicine floating around in my bloodstream, wouldnt call germany a third world country either and ive certainly been delivered by wheelchair to the front door before too, all a question of how the patient is looking healthwise, theyre not gonna put me in a wheelchair if i go in for a broken hand, but if i can walk worse than house due to bruised thigh theyre gonna insist on it
Arguable best episode in the series with the most interesting procedure with profusing the circuit
Id at least put it in top 3 for sure but Id probably have to binge the whole series again to be sure instead of just rewatching it through all these scattered clips lol
Great clip. However I missed seeing the actual perfusing the circuit, for me the most tense sequence in the entire series. (But it's OK, I own the whole series and just rewatched the entire episode.😀)
I think this is the one where the little girl talks Chase into being her first kiss. That’s why House said he isn’t gonna kiss her. 😂😂😂
ah yes i remember this episode, gouse makes fun of chase later on for kissing th3 cancer girl hahaa
house is such a sweetheart
Nice one
Lol
Ummmmmmmmm
You may be surprised to know that Sasha Pieterse played Andie in this episode.
Just in time for a lunch break...
Sasha Pieterse is so talented!
Hallucinating is horrible, i cried in my hallucination my mom was getting mad at me for shouting 😭 and i couldn't do it anymore. I just want my real mom 😢, to sing to me her lalaby.
Very touching. House tries to maintain that veneer of offishness to protect himself because, alert the media, he really does care. He treated her like a person deserving of the right to choose, not a child with no voice facing a horrible situation. Cancer in children is another reason, among the many, that I know there is no god.
Atheists are the only people I've ever encountered who are more righteous than the religious. Except for the Woke. Stay healthy; this is it.
It's silly to assume because there are many terrible things in the world, that there is no God. Without suffering, there is no joy.
@@Hi-jw7oq why? You don't feel joy when you're not suffering? That's not a logical statement. Pain is not needed for pleasure. Misery is not required for joy.
@@Hi-jw7oq Bullshit. Utter bullshit. Suffering makes joy look better in comparison but its ANYTHING BUT necessary. This is one hell of a lazy attempt at an argument.
There is a God. Human suffering is part of the human condition because.
Chase kissing the girl was ick. But I laughed at the custody battle line. I think Chase was hiding a laugh behind that blue file.
1:47 lmao
did whoever made the new It movie watch House?? not as disturbing but the bathroom hallucination seems similar
Only if my doctor gave me the option to end my life
Why?
Life limiting condition? Living with an expiry date is either going to make someone terrified or want to live what life they have to the fullest
that was the one where chase kissed her and house found out and made a scene in front of the other 2 docs lol
Great acting by both.
So he's trying to talk her into...what...?
She is A from Pretty Little Liars
I have heard of that show for YEARS. Never really felt the need to watch it to be honest. Probably just this generations Dawson's Creek or OC.

in that last scene.
Bird York - In The Deep
Nope I am lol
She takes a lot of medication, and apparently the insulin or whatever was in that needle made her start to hallucinate
Because “House, M.D.” did medically check what its writers wrote, and because I’ve heard the horror stories about chemo, I would either use natural remedies to shrink tumors to the point at which an oncological surgeon could remove them or just go on hospice as soon as possible. I would rather die from cancer than from chemo.
Well one things for sure you'd die from cancer. You know what they call natural medicine that works? It's just called medicine
They show extreme chemo doses. It doesn’t always need to be like that. Check your survival chances, if it is any less than 10% I wouldn’t get chemo.
@@disguisedcat1750 , I’ve also seen how chemo has affected loved ones and other people.
Steve Jobs thought the same thing, only to regret it later
@@woowaah8639, I know where I am going after this life. I would rather just die of cancer than have chemo and wish that I were dead already.
Nice but... "and everyone clapped"? Really?
Some people want to die.
Any person with nothing wrong with them doesn't want to die
@@mrnewb4725incorrect
@@YOURteacher_100tbf a death wish qualifies as "something wrong with a person" though it does sound harsh
@@lunarsystem With the current state of the world and the fact we are on the verge of WW3, id say wanting death is pretty valid
Well, some ppl want to do many things, dying included. Scary place to be. Cancer in kids is particularly devastating, yet, I believe in God.
For me, one of the best episode
She's stronger than me
This is so emotional that house is having emoition unlike the past
Microsoft says she must die because she's a girl🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kid: hugs house
House: 😐
This made me cry!😢
Wow the Mom and the Daughter’s acting was excellent.
Wilson was using the metric system
Such an amazing episode
Being in the field. This comes close. Very close.
Some people are not ready to call it quits with a progressive disease . They will take the risk of whatever it takes to keep going . Sometimes it works out . Patients know when to say enough .
I take biology and I know everything to save a 9 year old girl
love house...love Hugh Laurie
end up in a custody battle😂
As SOON As House Said "And Go" A Ad Came On! 🤣🤣🤣
The mom actress has a really peculiar pattern of forehead wrinkles btw, doesn't she
Good show, need to cut the s..t with the underhanded fbi open up sus creator schtick but hey, and yeah yeah say what ya will theres other scenes where its like woah wait a minute

“Hello, zuko here”
Her head hair is gone but her eyebrows are not. Does that happen with chemo since eyebrows grow more slowly?
Eye brows would usually go but the actress shaved her heads. Everyone saying she had cancer yes she did but years prior so they shaved her head for this role and probably didn’t think about the eye brows before being too far into shooting
It really depends. In some patients, both eyebrow hair and scalpal hair go.
