Reviewing or just chatting?
Frustrating listen
It's actually stated on the GMS120 official Bosch video that it will not detect live cables in conduit, but that you should use metal scanning mode.
I like the open hole on the tool great for marking with a pencil.
Well said, we have heard that multiple times out on the jobsite. The decision makers always go with price.
I really do like that open center
Wiring isn't bad. I did most of our camp and my dad helped me with the rest of it. I actually worked with an electrician for a summer before college and learned a lot. Although we had all bare walls when I ran the wire and installed everything so the finder wouldn't have helped there. I also like running straight lines when possible. All the outlets are the same height off the floor and the wires run the same as the outlets to know where the wires are.Would be handy if I hadn't run them though.
Liking the new logo and intro/outro guys!
You are not explaining. You are gossiping.show the dial and explain all materials behind wall detected by the scanner and which mode to operate. How to choose the right place for drilling etc.
huh?
Yes it is more like a chat between you two. Anyway I didn't mean harm. I am a foreigner who cannot catch your accent 100% though well grounded in the English language! My doubt is in DRYWALL mode I get to see only the two amplitude bars, both 'I' and 'J' but not the object which is underneath the base material. The red ring keeps glowing. What do I take it for? Remember in India all houses are built with brick and mortar. Walls have no steel rods inside except when they are concrete pillars or walls. We don't use non-ferrous tubes to carry wires and cables, but pvc tubes and upvc for water. Live Wire mode is no use for me for it can't detect cable encased in plastic tubes. So too Metal Mode. The only mode I can use is DRYWALL. When the scanner has not detected any material beneath, how can the red ring keep glowing? Again should I keep the scanner tightly against the walls or just hold it with less pressure? I am afraid I may wear the sensor pads sooner if scrape it along. In your demo you are using a harmless smooth cardboard or paste board which may not damage the equipment when slid along Thank you if you can reply.Sorry for my long query.
Agree. STFU and use the tool so I can see how it works,
@@Toolsinaction He's right, and the tension between you two is palpable! Glasses and hat guy is bitchy! Haha fun to watch!
Man that is a great question. Both are great, but I like the price point on this.
I've thought about getting this one. I might have to now.
this thing is sweet. i think im gonna have to make a new purchase!
You guys are def reminding of Red Green Show with your back & forth (: It's pretty funny- (old Canadian handy-man comedy) thanks for explaining this tech tool
To also find electrical or plastic you could set it on metal sensor and pick up the nail plates that are "suppose" to be there... if not on top or bottom plate watch out!
Oh, and like the new logo!
It works well enough for electric cables if the circuit is live, so turn the light or switch on.
If you find a non ferrous metal, you should be able to work out from its direction and coverage if it is pipe, stud work or electrical wire protective plating. Appreciate this isn't always going to be the case but it's a good start.
That hurt, lol. We will try to get one up asap.
I love that hole in the middle of the scanner that a really good idea saves you carring a pencil or a pen to mark where it is an the go back a drill it and whats the pice tag on that ?
With electric you need to put your hand on the surface to discharge static that is interfering with the detector.
Cool but I need one with excellent electrical scanning. If the Franklin sensor detected electrical, that would be the perfect tool for me
The best stud finder I have is a mirror
awesomeness
Thanks for explaining this.
The included instructions suck
Hey is it well protected
Does it detect staples ?
This is cheaper than the M12 scanner. We are reviewing the DeWALT scanner as we speak. It should be up soon
I've always just knock or use a magnet on dry walls and see if theres a stud to hang my tvs and hope to god theres no electrical wire lol. I will try this
if it's metal conduit it won't pick up the live wire / electrical, but it will pick up the ferrous / non ferrous.....also apparently to detect the wire is has to be an energized circuit
Useless on plaster walls and electrical (will trigger if held perpendicular to bare live wire - but you got to be very close to it)
Good for metal studs, and can find screws/nails
But a $10 Hanson magnetic stud finder can do that too
Technology isn't quite ready yet
I dont know of there was an update to the model or maybe because I'm in Europe but I pick up electricity woth no problem.
I agree with robert! Dewalt heated jacket needs reviewed!! toolbar just showed the jacket they did not actually review it.
Put a plaster skim coat over the plaster board and its blinded. . Returned mine, it was useless to the point of being dangerous.
Hi ... Inotice that in the U.S.A. most of your walls are plasterboard. Here in the U.K. we do have plasterboard walls but, most of the internal walls of older house are masonry ,,bricks and solid plaster...will this unit detect pipe/cable etc... in this material. Brick or block-work background with a wet plaster up to 3/4" thick top coat???
Plenty of people in the UK have stud walls in their houses. Mostly interior wall though because of the number of brick wall houses in the UK.
Well guys does it works with pvc pipes and if it is give a rating out of 10 please
I wonder how hilti's scanners compare to this one
Actually, i want to ask you the basic principle behind this scanner ??
what a silly chat !!!!
Look up Faraday cage and you'll understand why I couldn't read the conduit in voltage mode
It maybe to do with that or it just may have poor electronics that do not enable it to pick up electrical. It is a cheap multi device so maybe it is doing too much.
What is the price this one
Milwaukee scanner or this???
Me to
Damn you guys are fast! lol
Wish Guywithhat would let Guywithsomethingtosay speak
LOL, your right, I am sorry.
yea but tools in action rocks!
HOW MUCH IS THE BOSCH DMS120 DIGITAL MULTI SCANNER
89 bucks CAD.
the future is already there but that machines cost!
Hey Dan, gotta pace yourself man! You used up all your energy at the beginning of the video! Hey great vid though. I too, don't like to mess with home wiring, too many bad calls! This tool definitely looks like a winner though, keep em coming.
Insulation eric not plastic :)
A pro's tools work for him, not the other way around... that being said, if you're looking to trade tools, always go to a laborer, not the boss. All he wants is as much cash as he can get for as little time as possible.
I'll tell ya who's fast, toolbarn.com.....they have a dewalt heated jacket review! Come on guys, your better then that!
He seems to mock the viewers
How drunk is the guy suggesting you drill through the hole??
WTF
oh dear, how worse could it get..........
Too much talking not enough scanning
Would rather have covid than listening to the guy in green shirt trying to be funny
A product review blog that doesn't actually review the product. Cheers guys. Clear as mud! Thumbs down im afraid.
What is this? Stand up comic? Special effects expert at work? First attempt at becoming a Clown?
Franklin sensors are shit
I signed in just to down vote the video. That should say enough
I'm sorry. I couldn't listen to this guy. He sounds like a drunk, babbling on, incoherently.
Too much trash talking, take it down a notch please!
02:19 For goodness sake stop talking over the top of one another its Annoying..
Sorry to say guys, but yours is more babble than a review... you did an incomplete "test", not worth one's time.
Well guys does it works with pvc pipes and if it is give a rating out of 10 please
