    It's actually stated on the GMS120 official Bosch video that it will not detect live cables in conduit, but that you should use metal scanning mode.

    Wiring isn't bad. I did most of our camp and my dad helped me with the rest of it. I actually worked with an electrician for a summer before college and learned a lot. Although we had all bare walls when I ran the wire and installed everything so the finder wouldn't have helped there. I also like running straight lines when possible. All the outlets are the same height off the floor and the wires run the same as the outlets to know where the wires are.Would be handy if I hadn't run them though.

    You are not explaining.You are gossiping.show the dial and explain all materials behind wall detected by the scanner and which mode to operate.How to choose the right place for drilling etc.

      Yes it is more like a chat between you two. Anyway I didn't mean harm. I am a foreigner who cannot catch your accent 100% though well grounded in the English language! My doubt is in DRYWALL mode I get to see only the two amplitude bars,both 'I' and 'J' but not the object which is underneath the base material. The red ring keeps glowing. What do I take it for? Remember in India all houses are built with brick and mortar. Walls have no steel rods inside except when they are concrete pillars or walls.We don't use non-ferrous tubes to carry wires and cables,but pvc tubes and upvc for water. Live Wire mode is no use for me for it can't detect cable encased in plastic tubes. So too Metal Mode. The only mode I can use is DRYWALL. When the scanner has not detected any material beneath, how can the red ring keep glowing? Again should I keep the scanner tightly against the walls or just hold it with less pressure? I am afraid I may wear the sensor pads sooner if scrape it along. In your demo you are using a harmless smooth cardboard or paste board which may not damage the equipment when slid along Thank you if you can reply.Sorry for my long query.

    To also find electrical or plastic you could set it on metal sensor and pick up the nail plates that are "suppose" to be there... if not on top or bottom plate watch out!

    It works well enough for electric cables if the circuit is live, so turn the light or switch on.

      If you find a non ferrous metal, you should be able to work out from its direction and coverage if it is pipe, stud work or electrical wire protective plating. Appreciate this isn't always going to be the case but it's a good start.

    I love that hole in the middle of the scanner that a really good idea saves you carring a pencil or a pen to mark where it is an the go back a drill it and whats the pice tag on that ?

    With electric you need to put your hand on the surface to discharge static that is interfering with the detector.

    I've always just knock or use a magnet on dry walls and see if theres a stud to hang my tvs and hope to god theres no electrical wire lol. I will try this

  • @AdamWright88
    @AdamWright88 2 роки тому

    if it's metal conduit it won't pick up the live wire / electrical, but it will pick up the ferrous / non ferrous.....also apparently to detect the wire is has to be an energized circuit

  • @CheekyMonkey888
    @CheekyMonkey888 9 років тому +3

    Useless on plaster walls and electrical (will trigger if held perpendicular to bare live wire - but you got to be very close to it)
    Good for metal studs, and can find screws/nails
    But a $10 Hanson magnetic stud finder can do that too
    Technology isn't quite ready yet

    Hi ... Inotice that in the U.S.A. most of your walls are plasterboard. Here in the U.K. we do have plasterboard walls but, most of the internal walls of older house are masonry ,,bricks and solid plaster...will this unit detect pipe/cable etc... in this material. Brick or block-work background with a wet plaster up to 3/4" thick top coat???

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 5 років тому

      Plenty of people in the UK have stud walls in their houses. Mostly interior wall though because of the number of brick wall houses in the UK.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 5 років тому

      It maybe to do with that or it just may have poor electronics that do not enable it to pick up electrical. It is a cheap multi device so maybe it is doing too much.
