Surface Pro (2017) showed me that having anything other than 4:3 aspect ratio and step backwards, and touchscreen is something I miss anytime I use a laptop without it.

Where did you get the keyboard with bigger enter key than the ones in the US? :)

Great video. I am really loving what you do and have subbed!
I get what you are doing here, and I think it is reasonable to look at the features and specs, but there are better ways to judge the Surface Pro.
It does not and has never had the best specs, and it has always been expensive.
It has always been over the odds.
This has also always been true of apple products. Phone, iPod, Apple Watch, Laptops and desktops - everyone has been over the odds and under spec'd for what you pay - until the M chips arrived.
The way to judge the Surface line of devices and the Surface Pro in particular is to look at how they integrate into the user's life.
What would any other device be providing in the same scenario?
Does the form factor provide any value?
Initially and on paper, the form factor only speaks of compromise and having LESS than competitors.
When does it feel BETTER to have this form factor over another form factor?
Those are the questions that a simple spec sheet review cannot tell anyone. They might make someone get another machine and would be very justified in doing so.
Suffice it to say that when you look on the web, ou find that many Surface pro users fell in love with their machines and just love the way they integrate with their lives.
Many do NOT love it, so there IS another side to this BUT the issue is how it performs in life as opposed to whether it has specs comparable with the hottest other devices in the world.
Microsoft was one of many to do the convertible PC. I had 2 different Sony VAIO convertible laptops, and I absolutely enjoyed using them. I also enjoyed the trick of switching between a PC and a tablet which I could do at will. I loved using them with OneNote; since then, I have never looked back. I absolutely cannot imagine using a PC without a pen and a touchscreen. I use the penonly sometimes, but when I need it - there it is. Fully available and ready to be used. It is amazing.
I have since had surfaces since VAIO stopped and was sold.
The surface devices, too, that theme and ran with it. They have been slow in getting the user experience right, and Microsoft have been prone to do, but now they have given us almost the perfect machine. There are a few missteps and steps backwards, but it is a fine machine. The SP9 is excellent for someone on the road, a student, or someone who wants to move around with the computer. I have mine and connect it to my phone when I need wifi. It is excellent at whatever I need it to do and is fantastic to look at. The screen gives me everything I need for this kind of device.
The SP8 is still a killer machine and has the headphone jack (they took it off the SP9 - as I never once used it - I don't miss it - I do miss knowing that it was there, though)
Windows 11 is a really good fit for SP 8 and 9 as well. Really works well.
There is more work to do on the touch interface, and what they've taken away makes windows 11 a backward step in tablet computing.
I know I could have a better touch experience with an apple device, but I would have to dig into my bag for my laptop when I needed some a desktop scenario - now I have one machine, and it does it all.n I debated getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra because it has DEX, so it could give me that desktop experience, but the apps are still the Android versions, and there is a lot of capability that is just missing. The Surface, for a windows user, is a killer machine.
It is like when I use my phone - it does almost everything I need, but when I need more, I pull out my Surface, and I have all I need - it is quick, smooth, connects to my phone to exchange files by dragging and dropping or sending if I prefer.
I am not trying to sell it but to explain that this is a lifestyle machine rather than a machine you pick purely for its functionality and cutting-edge specs. It now does have them, but there are other reasons to pick them up. For me, it fits into my life so well and so completely that I cannot imagine being without one.

I was planning on getting an IPad Pro but after starting a new job at an architect firm I think the surface is the only way to go. I need the full suite of software and apps.

The Surface Pro line was a showcase for Windows Tablets that sadly have failed to take off. If you buy this primarily as a tablet, unless you need specific Windows apps, there are far better tablet choices with much better tablet-optimised apps. Of course, with few OEMs buying into this form factor, and those that do, selling poorly, MS has now rebadged this as a laptop, and that is what it really is now, so not a competitor to Android or iPadOS.
So in the small world of 2 in 1's, the SP9 is number 1, and for the tiny demographic (latest Surface sales figures are declining), it is the de facto choice. It still remains costly, especially as you need to buy the keyboard, and I recommend buying a laptop and tablet combo for the same price so that you do not compromise with the poor Windows Tablet experience. I assume, even with the Surface concept really not pushing the market, MS will continue, as yet another failed project to their portfolio would be adding to their disappointing performance of late (RIP Surface Duo, Surface Book, Surface Neo, Windows phone, etc., etc., etc.).

And I think you said you were getting 30 fps on apex. That is absolutely not playable, 60 is the minimum
