I like Surface in general and I'm on my 2nd one. A Surface Go3 tablet. The entry cost is high but having made the mistake of earlier buying a laptop with the most power per dollar and living with a washed out display, poor sound quality and low volume, and not really needing the compute power I switched to Surface. Even the low-cost Surface devices have good screens, speakers, keyboards, and touch pads. Surface is just an enjoyable easy to use PC/Tablet and desktop when docked.
Great video choom! Learned a good bit from it. Keep it up!
Thanks for a great review.
On the point!
commenting from my SP9 and i love it very much it is productive
Love my surface pro 9
Recently i bought a used Windows ARM laptop (local brand, Snapdragon 850, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, on latest Windows 11) for work purposes (using word, excel and some web application) as I were looking for a laptop that is lightweight and could last on a battery for 4-5 hours. It performs quite well, especially the battery (could last up to 5-6 hours, but no youtube or netflix, just pure work) but since it only has 4GB RAM, running Teams together with other apps somehow slowing down the laptop. Other than that it runs word, excel, pdf with no problems. It could be more okay if it has 16GB RAM...
I do love a Surface. I reckon I wouldn't need 5G but great to have that option.
Great video, Many Thanks!
I am beginning my research on getting a 5G version. My specific use case would be day trading with the ability to travel overseas. I did notice at 6 minutes in to your video you showed the turning off wifi and running off of your 5Gchip, but I noticed the arrow next to TMobile... is that to say that you could switch between your 5G sim you have loaded in the back, and potentially switch to a e-sim for 4G/5G? (So I could have a 5G sim in the US, and if I'm traveling overseas I could get a 4G LTE or 5G sim in whatever country I'm in? I just noticed the arrow and didn't know if it was selectable between physical sim and e-sim?
Also for my trading broker, they have a desktop 64bit program, but also a 32bit version as well. I am assuming that with the SQ3 ARM version I would have to use a 32 b it version software? I know you didn't try my brokers program, but with other software's did you notice that 32bit worked better as well? Thanks again!
Is this considered as a tablet line on your phone service?
can we use extentions and is this good for Amazon business
I have been using a Surface Pro X for a couple of years. Almost every piece of software I have tried to run has run as long as there are drivers for specialty USB devices.
So, based on my experience I disagree. For many people Windows ARM can do everything they need. Not the fastest laptop around, but for Office, Email, web browsing, similar types of applications, even light software development, Windows ARM is perfectly adequate. I have used my Surface Pro X as a desktop with a dock and it is my favorite computer to take on the road. It even has GPS built in.
Microsoft: Faster ARM processor, more threads and 32Gig model please.
Thank you. I love the surface pro X but all I hear is hate from it. Especially with the LTE functionality it's the perfect thing to take on the road
Is your Surface Pro X running Windows 11? And if so, any tips on how to update mine?
How does it handle font rendering compared to macos?
For business use this works really well with a Windows 365 Cloud PC for when you need to run higher power apps - the only time it is an issue in the UK is when travelling by plane/train as there’s no reliable internet connection
Thank you for the information.
imagine the cost for a higher specs cloud pc you need to pay every month
@@agusugian You do so it would depend on your use case. From a business perspective there are advantages to the cloud PC approach, and the cost isn’t as much of an issue. If you’re coding day to day on the go then a device that can do that locally has advantages of course and the Pro 9 5G wouldn’t be ideal.
Can Photoshop & iTunes run on this device? Like Editing & syncing musics?
how long does the battery last
How much ram did his unit have?
So I got off the phone with Microsoft and the sales person swore blind that the Surface Pro SQ3 5g will work with Dropbox? Drobox says otherwise. Anyone else?
Did you get hands on the Intel version of this device? Which one would you go for having in account compatibility and battery life?
yes the intel model runs faster and is more powerful all around. the intel model would be a better choice for better app support , the pro 9 for battery life. it's in the middle
@@TKBay is the SQ3 faster than the i5? (When using ARM native applications)
When you use these devices for productivity and not gaming, makes a lot of sense, pricing becomes reasonable, but it's not for everybody even being a great product
Eventually, there were too many phones announced in February. Thanks for the follow-up TK.
February will be crazy indeed 😂
@@TKBay Sheesh
Can i work remote with VPN login to my office computer? This would be great for construction site visits
Yes vpn works just fine. The office suite is supported but you may have to check the support for your office apps
OMG, I was looking forward to see how the charger looked like, but you decided to skip that part!!
Very cool tk I agree very portable but needs some work 👍👊
yea for sure, makes more excited about what Orion will bring to the table
@@TKBay yeah my pro x is awesome sq1
What is the different between surface pro and surface laptop, thanks
The Pro is in a tablet form and the Surface Laptop is just that, Laptop form.
enjoyed this thank you. The features you are talking about ... video tracking, blurred backgrounds, noise blocking etc. is that in the pro and 5G versions? Intel version as well?
It’s only SQ3, but maybe in the Pro 10 or 11 Intel will do it too - there are already some x64 chips tbat support it in other devices I believe
Great long term review!
Is it just me TK or is there a bit of distortion in the capture of the device you were using to record around the 16:15-16:30 mark
that was from a smartphone and the lighting was not the best. thank you
Great video, as always. You say it's not trying to replace your laptop, which I agree, but it's priced as if it is. I used a surface pro at work but I would never consider one for home, for what it does, it's too expensive....
Good point! I think this is really more about getting other companies to adopt the tech. at this time the price it high, and I hope when Orion Comes out at the end of this year from QUALCOMM more options and better pricing will be available.
@@TKBay Orion is subject to a legal challenge by ARM due to maybe patent infringements. I would not hang my hat on that, as ARM is seeking to block Qualcomm from using this tech.
I have not heard about that yet, we will see what the two companies work out for by November. Thank you for the information
I can't believe how much this cost still, this pro model should include everything, get a yoga book i9, levono gives you everything in the box
شكرا لك يعطيك العافية مواضيع جميل جدا تقترح في قناة وهي موهيم
What I'm wanting to know is how well it will run fusion 360 and sculpting in blender. I don't render any 3d stuff. I just use it for 3d printing. My current computer keeps crashing when my fusion models get a bit more complex
If you need to run a x86 program you will be running it on emulation mode on an ARM based computer. Emulation is generally not recommended, except for occasional use. You will have slower performance compared to Intel-based systems, but it offers the tradeoff of a limited ecosystem, longer battery life, always on LTE/5G capabilities, and a extremely light package that is primary geared for users that can utilize ARM based applications.
Still waiting for a proper update to the Surface Pro LTE
I want to buy pro 9 but i don't know to wait for pro 10 or not.
Your's have 5g? Is that model better than intel?

"Save the planet" cries microsoft, apple and google, "btw please buy the stuff we churn out endlessly from our ivory towers"
Congratulations! You’ve whittled down capitalism to its basic essentials!
Mining just one asteroid will replenish all the metal and minerals ever used to build all electronics in human history. We are not there yet but close, if we stop progress and go back to living in caves with nature we will never get there.
Thanks, still not a pc, i wouldn't buy it, lenovo x1 is better choice for 5G laptop
But I want to play Call of Duty on this?
this 5g one is just an overpriced samsung tablet, with some short-comings. hear me out on this one. the chip running it is slower than the one running the tab s8. it has windows on arm, which makes it even slower and makes it lack several functions from the normal windows (you can already get that by emulation on the tab s8). yes you can emulate android apps, but they already are baked in with the tab s8. screen isn't oled, nor miniled and bezels are thiccc. yes, it has one more port (2 total), but they are NOT thunderbolt, they are the same 3.2 speeds as the tab s8. and at 16:10 you show us how your Samsung phone can connect to an external display with one cable and give you a desktop like experience that can support the things you mentioned, light work, some photo editing, script righting, some Microsoft office work, drawing and artistic work etc., stuff a samsung tablet can do. Then there is the , yes still cheaper (compared to the surface) and faster alternative, the M series ipads. they even come with thunderbolt and 2 ports (if ya get the keyboard). If you want a surface get the intel versions, otherwise i think it is a waste of money. (yes, you could also argue that even they are too expensive for what they give you)
Not a very good review.
i am thinking to buy this but can i play steam games on it?
Yes, if you get the intel versions.
