Josh, you missed one HUGE annoyance of the Spectre-- the BRIGHT, always WHITE LIGHT on the power button. If you use it in anything but a bright room, and /or turn off the keyboard backlight, it's like spotlight in your face and, apparently, it can't be turned off. Go to the 4:01 mark in your video to see-- the light is so strong, it's reflecting off the semi-closed screen! For people who use this to watch movies or do any other tasks in even a slightly dim setting, this could be a dealbreaker.
thank you! the small, pinhole orange lights which show if the camera or microphone are turned off are totally fine but this BRIGHT WHITE BAR which never turns off, never dims is very obtrusive. @@JustJoshTech
Thanks for the review Josh. Would you happen to know how's this laptop compared to the Asus Zenbook 14 2024? Between both, if you had to buy one, which one you would go for?
The fact it was ever an issue in the first place baffles me. I typically like HP laptops (shout out to pavilion plus 7840u) and to see silver keys on a silver body just confused the hell out of me
I purchased the Spector 14 from Best Buy and had to return it within a week. The screen door effect was very very noticeable to me, and it looked more like squiggly red patterns, swirling around than a screen door at times. I noticed it in light blue colors, highlights in photos on peoples faces. The whites of eyes and white text. I don’t think you could ever have an accurate white reference which is a tragic flaw in an otherwise perfect laptop, I would notice it from up to 24 inches from the screen sometimes depending on the content, It caused most content to seem blurry to me on what is a 2.8k basically Retina display. Maybe I am just more prone to these kind of things bothering me, but I’ve never noticed backlight strobe on an OLED before and I’ve had a laptop with an OLED screen before and did not ever notice this any kind of screen door effect so I do believe this is a problem on this model of specter I have seen other people make this comment before so I do not believe it was just my unit
Thanks for the information. do you think it is because of the touchscreen layer that this happens? or maybe as josh mentioned in the video, all the oled panels the one in the zenbook 14 would probably suffer from the same problem?
Just thought I’d mention that I bought a Spectre for my wife a week ago based mostly off of your glowing review and a few others. I happened to snag a deal for the 2TBSSD/32gbRAM version from Best Buy using your link and got it for $1500 instead of the usual price of around $1900 I think. So for she’s super happy :) *DISCLAIMER* Best Buy’s Spectres DO NOT come with the free stylus or the dongle for HDMI and extra usb ports. I ordered the identical stylus (HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen) for my wife to try out from Amazon for $53 (on sale I think) and a nearly identical, probably superior Anker dongle for $20 (Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1).
@@simsimagotthekeys9003 she’s loving it so far, she did notice the track pad palm detection issue mentioned. Still hoping that gets a software update that improves it. Otherwise, great laptop so far, she upgraded from a Surface Laptop 2
Oh I thought I already replied to this, but she’s loving it. Still a huge upgrade over her Surface Laptop 2. When I asked her if she had any complaints about it the only problem is the same track pad issue where it sometimes registers touch input while you’re just typing. But she doesn’t seem to be very bothered by it as she’s never mentioned it before I asked and she has seemed very happy all the while. Still hoping the software updates come through to improve it
Very concise breakdown of the pros and cons of this laptop. I think it makes sense to spend more time on the cons to fully understand why they are cons to begin with. Allowing viewers to decide whether or not those would be cons for them personally.
I was ever so close to pulling the trigger on the ASUS Zenbook 14 (2024), but then I saw this video. The HP Spectre x360, with 32 GB and 2TB is currently on sale at BestBuy for $1,500. Done and Done! I'm going with the HP!
@@pyaesonekyaw6800 . Yes, I did buy the HP Spectre x360. It is one of seven laptops that I own and is hands down the best of the bunch. Runner up would be my 13.8" Microsoft Surface Laptop 7. Can't really compare the two as it would be an apples and oranges type of comparison. That said, if I could only have one laptop, it would be the HP Spectre. I have zero complaints and can highly recommend the HP to anyone looking for a great, general purpose laptop.
Love you covering the pros and cons. 👍 I prefer pros and cons have their own separate section. Too many UA-camrs avoid covering the cons which results in buyers remorse.
Great review as always! Thanks and keep up doing what you do! As a person with sensitive eyes I especially like the fact that you raise the issue of PWM flickering.
One of the reasons I found your channel and subscribed was the well-rounded reviews with pros and cons but most importantly to me, the comparisons to other models either in similar price bracket or spec. Gives a better overall picture when trying to decide between devices, which i love. I've found other reviews just mentioning the good/bad like a brochure but not providing critical comparisons/suggestions like you have. Well done! -Intro/ -What’s New/Specs/Performance -The Good -The Bad - Conclusion/Comparisons/Alternatives
Don't forget the battery and everyday uses like excel and coding. Most reviewers neglect this when it's some of the most important part. If you want gaming power, just get a desktop ffs. Imagine traveling and bringing in a gaming laptop expecting to run AAA game.
Would be great to compare it to the Yoga Pro 7i 14 2024. The specs and funcionalities are nearly identical but the yoga is a few hundred dollars cheaper
For anything other than working outdoors in bright conditions, these OLED displays are the best option. They're a little power hungry, so they eat into the battery life more, but the image quality beats anything else on the market.
OLED's are just amazing. My laptop from 1.5 years ago has this same 2.8K OLED screen and it is phenomenal. Mine is pre-calibrated as well and I watch stuff on it while I do other things and it still works great for my work. However I am not stuck with an Intel CPU.
@@Tectectech I've been using an OLED laptop for 4 years with no burn it at all. Oddly enough, the only time I ever saw any form of image retention was on an IPS display.
@@Tectectech nope, I just checked the other week. I have no burn in. I have my laptop set to 2 mins Screensaver and 10 mins screen off. I don't usually use max brightness unless watching something or gaming because it's quite bright. 400+ nits.
Be CAREFUL when buying a Spectre X360 14" as you can easily buy a 2023 model which received pretty lackluster or negative reviews. Some sellers are being quite vague about which model you will actually receive. The Best Buy link here seems to be correct yet I cannot get their sales folks to confirm it is indeed a 2024 model . The customizable link above takes you to HP and the process is also vague with many of the selections not specifically telling you what it is. I believe I will give up now and go in another direction. It seems too difficult to insure I receive the 14" X360 spectre with 16 ram, Win 11 home, 1Tb drive and integrated graphics (read non-gaming) my workplace requires. Thanks for the video.
Wait! Wth are you talking about the 2023 model? How is it different from 2024? I just bought the 2023 model on bestbuy, it's on clearance and openbox, only cost $790, I thought I just robbed them good. Now my day is runined What's wrong with it??
Thank you for discussing the grainy "screen door" effect on many OLED touchscreen panels! It's really important to me that the screen not be grainy, so unfortunately it's a deal-breaker for this laptop. I like the new format but I think you should spend a bit more screen time going over the internal upgrade options.
@JustJoshTech Nah, it is quite disappointing. Very few laptops with AMD Ryzen and too many laptops with soldered memory. It doesn't help that Nvidia and AMD as well as Intel with 14th Gen (Meteor Lake is a bit of a different story) have nothing new to offer. Honestly, I was so disappointed in laptop hardware this year that if I didn't desperately need a new laptop, I wouldn't even thought of getting one until at least next year. Too bad so many Linux options are so dated in terms of screen options...
@@cameronbosch1213 i am not forcing anyone to buy it. There are many more laptops to buy. I am just saying LPCAMM is as good as soldered but upgradeable and LPCAMM is coming very soon.
I just bought the HP Specter 360 because of this video and I love it. Thanks to your website, I bought the 32 GB ram plus 2TB for 700$ off! Unfortunately, it didn't come with the pen or the extra ports, but buying them will still beat the original price. I know most of this comment is me tooting my own horn but, I owe it all to you.
I like the pros and cons presentation but the risk with that is that you leave details out in other areas that are just sort of meh that people may still want to know about (as you were and are so thorough). Another great review thanks again the Spectres really are great machines.
This laptop looks good and the specs are nice, but I can't get over the fact that it only has 3 ports. As a frequent traveler that's a no for me, esp the lack of HDMI port. Dongles are a major annoyance. I ended up buying the HP ZBook Firefly G10 (Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS/780M iGPU, 14" 1200P IPS Display, 400nits, 60Hz/32GB RAM/2TB NVME) which has more ports (2x USB 4 ports, 2x USB A, 1xHDMI, headphone/microphone jack, SIM slot) and upgreadable RAM.

If you travel often, look into the Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 11 or Lenovo ThinkPad T14 (AMD 7840U) version. Both are good for battery life and offer the ports you will need.
@@akin242002 I wanted to buy the ThinkPad T14s Gen 4 (Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U model) but it wasn't in stock at that moment. The 7840U is a bit more efficient and along with the 57Wh battery, the battery life should be better.

The fact that these Meteor Lake chips are nearly as performant on battery power, IMO, is their best and most underrated feature. The last Windows laptop I bought (i've been all Apple since then) was the Surface Pro 3. I paid $1,600 for that machine. It had decent specs on paper for the time. However, I couldn't use it unplugged because the performance was so poor, even for internet browsing. It made no sense to me - I buy this awesome, thin, light, portable machine with seemingly good battery life only to have to plug it in at all times to get any kind of work done. It appears Intel has finally nearly solved that issue, and that is just great to see. Thanks for another outstanding video, Josh and team. Although I'm fully immersed in the dark side (i.e. Mac), my kid is not, and this is a laptop I will strongly consider buying for her in the coming year since her current Lenovo Yoga 6 is now getting a little long in the tooth.
@@chinuochinu2070 I have a VivoBook S15 with a dedicated GPU. It's about 5 years old and it hasn't given me any trouble. I also have an ASUS GR8II ROG gaming desktop. My wife is using both of them now as her daily drivers, one for work and the other for play, with no complaints.
@@cameronbosch1213 I’ve heard about that, my desktop is from 2018 and it’s been great. My family’s Dell Laptop from 2021 is a different matter however.
I don't think it would be a good buy considering they run it with a 40W TDP (+15W Dynamic boost) compared to the 115W max TDP, that's like half the performance gone from a card that barely competes with a 3060 with an 80W max TDP from last year
Having used this laptop for a while now I can safely say that is one of the best laptop out there for the price it's in. Everything this offer I really like also personally did not get the pen and dongle which is disappointing.
Asus and HP are getting very competitive... But as a software developer I always end up buying a Thinkpad for better Linux compatibility. Any idea how these work under linux?
Interesting video but unfortunately like many other buyer's of past HP Spectre 360 laptops, these machines do not hold up over time. And HP refuses to fix the hinge problems and other issues. Finally my 3rd party extended warranty replaced the hinges and 4k touchscreen. Then I got rid of it. I have been using the Asus Vivo OLED every since and have been much happier. Please reconsider buying an HP laptop because they will not stand behind their products. That is a fact.
The HP specter x360 laptops have been the best kept secret in tech I've been using my x360 OLED for quite a few years now and haven't even thought about upgrading
My favourite laptop of the last 5 years was the Spectre x360 from 2020. Only coming with a 4 core processor was a down side, but everything else was almost perfect (display, keyboard, slim form factor etc). I’m glad HP have moved away from 3:2 in the Spectre too, as 16:10 is the sweet spot for a work & leisure device. I’ve been keen to not jump the gun & wait to see what laptop options will come with the new Qualcomm chips this year, but I’m seriously considering this laptop too.
Which color model is this? Also how is your keyboard a soft rubbery texture? I tested this laptop out at a best buy and the keys were metal feeling like the rest of the laptop. Your key also appear different than in every other review I see on youtube. How do I get this keyboard?
Currently owning a Spectre 15 from 2020 and looking for an upgrade, this gives me exciting hopes. I wasn't attracted to the newer spectre models before as my own spectre currently suffers from excessive heat and fan noise and poor battery life both of which I wanted to avoid when eventually upgrading while still preserving good performance for the tasks I needed. This seems to fix all of the previous issues and add some more benefits. I am curious now more than ever on a review for the new Spectre 16 of 2024 as with my warranty now expired for my current spectre, I can upgrade for a discounted price and if the same status of less heat and fan noise carries over to the Spectre 16, it might just be the one. I kindly request that you do a review on the 16 inch variant. Thanks so much. Amazing review.
We’ve had no problems with 2 HP 360’s in our office that we bought several years ago. I’m not an HP fan, preferring Lenovo laptops, but HP had better value for the specifications and price.
I’m really glad to see these are good again. My favorite Windows laptop I ever owned was my 2015ish spectre (unfortunately, I bricked the thing trying to do my own fan replacement). Now I need to convince my wife she needs one of these, but I don’t know if I’ll ever tear her away from the lightness of the LG gram.
Hi Josh, I've just purchased this laptop for testing and I must say I'm taken aback by the fact that - when plugged in to 2x 27 QHD monitors - the fans simply WON'T SHUT UP. I've tried various myHP settings and even in "Silent" I can still hear them running, even though Lenovo Yoga 7 plugged into the same setup is dead silent. Would you happen to know any solution for this? This is the very same reason why I went for Lenovo Yoga 7 3 years ago - every single HP Elitebook, Envy laptop I'd tested (even the ones with AMD Ryzen) were constantly spinning their fans. I really wanted to switch to HP due to their fantastic keyboards, capacitive touchapd and build quality, but I won't pay double the price for a laptop that's making noises all the time.
How much would I have to spend on a non 2 in 1 laptop to have basically the same level of perfomance, loudness level, screen quality and battery life? My question is how much does 2 in 1 affect the price or does it affect at all? Because I'm not sure how much I would value the tablet feature since I've never used one like that and already have an ipad (though its an old ipad that I already wanted to upgrade)
I would need a bit longer scene time to have a chance to look on the graphs - I pause the video every time when I want to see the actual numbers achieved by different laptops. Also a bit longer cuts for admiring the looks of the laptops you present. Beside these, this is the best source of laptop info for me on UA-cam. Thanks!
I went with HP EliteBook 835 G10 7840U/32GB/5G with Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, total costing USD1,600, as a replacement for my older G8 5850U/16GB/1TB 970 Evo Plus. The bump is there definitely, with enough needed ports, just wish it had better battery life. For my wife I got the ZenBook 14 155H/32/1TB (USD1,200) replacing her older Yoga Slim 7 1135g7/16GB/512GB, and she is definitely liking the OLED 120Hz and the bump in speed. Spectre was is consumer grade for me, heavier. and then little some. Macs ... if you need. P.S. Excel = 47 rows ... with my recent glasses on I see all clearly, less w/o spectacles. :p
I've not been having a problem with palm rejection either. But then, for single clicks I cleared the checkbox that says "Tap with single finger to single-click." I think this probably helps avoid accidental single-click presses. I actually prefer to use it this way, because then I have to deliberately click on the pad and I get the haptic feedback, which I like. But I do have "Tap with two fingers to right-click" selected, which I find important to use. Also, the touchpad has a sensitivity adjustment with four different sensitivity settings, and that can be tailored to avoid accidental single-clicks if you do want to keep the "Tap with a single finger to single-click" box selected. I do lots of typing on this keyboard and the palm rejection simply has not been an issue. The haptic trackpad is quite good. Nor, by the way, have I noticed any screen door effects with the OLED display.
I do UX design work in Figma and this laptop stutters and lags. I upgraded the 1TB to a 4TB, works fine (but not physically supported{literally}). Hopefully as more updates come for this chipset and system if will actually feel like its running at 120Hz. Currently with my everyday usage and 80% of the 32 GB of RAM, it feels like everything runs at 60 Hz. Fingers crossed.
Really, I also do UX design. Finalised Spectre 32gb and macbook pro m3max. Finally, I thought to go with spectre x360 14. Now it seems I have to look for other laptops. Do you still suggest or shall I go with macbook m3max.
Some general observations after owning this computer for about 6 months: Regarding the palm rejection issue: I've not been having a problem with it. But then, for single clicks I cleared the checkbox that says, "Tap with single finger to single-click." I think this probably helps avoid accidental single-click presses. I actually prefer to use it this way, because then I have to deliberately click on the pad and I get the haptic feedback, which I like. I do lots of typing on this keyboard and the palm rejection simply has not been an issue. The haptic trackpad is quite good. Nor, by the way, have I noticed any screen door effects with the OLED display. The display is beautiful and decently bright, though it is a bit glossier than I like. But it's not horrendous, and I have used it outside numerous times. Battery life is excellent, depending on how many different power saving features I enable. Using the Edge browser, fast refresh (120 Hz dynamic), and Energy Saver mode on, I get around 9.5 hours of actual use out of it, give or take. (This is not counting when I have it hibernated at night.) If I use Energy Saver and also throttle down the screen refresh to 48 Hz, I can around 11 hours out of it. (Again, this is actual use not counting the time I hibernate the machine overnight.) I mostly use productivity software like Microsoft Word and web browsing with several tabs open. I upgraded it to the 24H2 build of Windows 11 and noticed a really significant improvement in performance under battery--not in terms of how many hours it would run but in terms of how snappy the performance is when on battery. When disconnected from AC I'm happy with 9.5 hours of run time, so I just set Energy Saver on but also leave on the faster refresh. With these settings the performance is very good with the 24H2 Windows build. The one issue I observed when I first got the machine was that coming in and out of sleep was wonky and hit or miss. And sometimes it would come out of sleep when it was in my backpack--no bueno! But a BIOS update completely cured those problems and now the machine goes into and out of sleep almost immediately.
Why does no one ever do handwriting tests? Many people use these kinds of 2in1 laptops for uni and annotating slides, yet it's impossible to get info on whether it's any good for that. I'd like to see a subjective rating of how paper-like the friction of the handwriting is.
I just bought the Envy x360 on 5/3 and I haven't bought a brand new laptop or desktop before and it be lagging or a bit slow in the beginning when not even been used much until now. I am trying to figure out why mine is doing this. I have gotten it to improve a little but I also don't like how the speaker sound can be so hard to hear when I have all volumes all the way up. I don't always like having headphones on. I had taken my desktop all in one back and exchanged it for this laptop because of traveling. I would say if you can live without a laptop. Go with the All-in-One desktop it ran way better than the Envy x360 and was the exact same price.
My Envy 16 was very fast it was Ryzen, but I returned it for having a bad display. If it had better display it was excellent, very fast , good build, good speakers.
@innosanto I ended up downloading a few things on mine it had to do with the Ryzen like you said, and it seems to not be lagging anymore. Maybe it just needed to wake up 😆 It's doing very well at this point, and I do both of my jobs on it.
Great review thanks Josh! I have 2 questions: Are the speakers better on the 2024 spectre or the current Yoga 9i 2-in-one? And, have HP FINALLY implemented a battery charge limiting option in their software? They are pretty much the only manufacturer atm that does not do this on their consumer line up.
Probably not amazing unless you use a rolling release distro like Arch. If you use Ubuntu (and I wouldn't) or Linux Mint, be prepared for the laptop to either fail to boot or many things to simply not work. I would say buy a dedicated Linux laptop, however, I can't seem to find many good options with a screen aspect ratio other than the dated 16 : 9 ratio.
I have on older model I use every day. I'm glad they fixed the speaker placement, but I really prefer the 3:2 display. The display is what sold me on the older model.

The snapdragons are tempting but it’s also in the beginning stages.
The review is great. Talking about the pros first makes the product more exciting to look at and also makes it more memorable so I can recommend it to others easier.
Makes me a little envious since I have the 2023 model. Almost anything I would improve on mine is there on the 2024 model. The 3:2 ratio was good for Excel but less than ideal for UA-cam. A 14 inch screen is the sweet spot compared to a 13. Upward firing speakers are better when using it on your lap. Arc is a significant improvement over IRIS. That being said, I love my 2023 Spectre. I don't have any compelling reason to update when it works so well. Way to go HP. Maybe I can convince them to upgrade my work computer.
I'm very content with my 16" version, two negatives though: - my backplate came with a bulge dent that goes outwards, but I wont get a replacement as it's only very small and I don't want to go through the hassle of getting a new one - the usb c port on the right side is a little bit annoying if you got a hard drive attached, it will be annoying to use a mouse (atleast thats what happens to me)
I just pulled the trigger on one of these. For the core ultra 7 32gb of ram model it was $1300 which is the most ive ever spent on a laptop by far but it still seems like a really nice deal.
I have a 2020 13.5” and 15” Spectres, and as a writer find the keyboards superb. I also listen to music all day and find the media keys perfect. However, I notice they have taken away the back and forward track keys. I use these keys all day when I’m writing. Small point I know, but sometimes it’s the small details that matter. Still great computers and the OLED screens are fantastic.
Hi Josh, I like your reviews as always. But does it make sense to you that zenbook 14x with 13700h has better cinebench 24 battery life than this spectre x360 for very similar cinebench 24 score? This suggests the 155h has worse efficiency for heavy loads than 13700h. This seems contradictory to other such reviews. Again great reviews, but just the above didn’t make sense so brining it to your attention.
I prefer this structure review...feels more natural and not too formal 😁 and what i can learn from this video, no matter how good or bad the processor, at the end of the day, it's all depend on the brand it self, how they can tune all the component and to make a good product
That is very accurate. We are noticing incredible differences from how the manufacturer's implement the hardware. This is one of the best implementations we've seen
Hey Josh I love your reviews, very professional and well presented. A suggestion: Showing the laptop with the screen on while the OS is shown as is directly from the box will help users like me to evaluate if a 14 each laptop is for them with the scaling offered by windows 11 (I'm looking at the taskbar size as an indication among other things). Going the extra mile for graphic designers would be to show photoshop displayed in full screen to evaluate the use case and scaling on screen + Drawing a few straight diagonal lines on screen with your palm on it (Palm rejection). My mother is proud of you! 😁
In past HP laptops were notorious for shorting motherboards and in general poor design of the motherboard and placements of Ram and storage flash. Can you compare the internal design of the past spectre and this spectare, and whether this one is good?
Bought one and had to replace it the first 14 days twice. I paid 1349$. The first one had faulty pixels the first few days. The second one had a faulty fan out of the box (it sounded like a motorboat). The third is ok, fans are a bit loud. Since I use it for school and light coding I set it on silent and I'm happy with it.
@@mariosbar9892 the screen itself is nice and clear. Can't see any screen door effect. I'm using the laptop for light coding, photoshop and mainly school.

So for she’s super happy :)
*DISCLAIMER* Best Buy’s Spectres DO NOT come with the free stylus or the dongle for HDMI and extra usb ports.

When I asked her if she had any complaints about it the only problem is the same track pad issue where it sometimes registers touch input while you’re just typing.

Love you covering the pros and cons. 👍
I prefer pros and cons have their own separate section.
Well done!

Don't forget the battery and everyday uses like excel and coding. Most reviewers neglect this when it's some of the most important part. If you want gaming power, just get a desktop ffs. Imagine traveling and bringing in a gaming laptop expecting to run AAA game.
Thank you for this video! As a college student this is very helpful, and yes, I appreciated the pros and cons layout structure for the video!
Would be great to compare it to the Yoga Pro 7i 14 2024. The specs and funcionalities are nearly identical but the yoga is a few hundred dollars cheaper
Lenovo yogas have been notorious for build quality, maybe they cut a few corners to deliver those specs cheaper

Seems like Mini LED still outweight OLED in terms of ultraportable laptop. The usage of OLED would be more appropriate in TV / Gaming Laptops.
it doesnt, I used a 350 nits 4k Oled for a while, was the same as a macbook pro in a brightly lit room.

I have a 2016 Spectre 13 and am ready to upgrade, however the palm rejection concern is a big issue. I hope HP will fix this.

Yes, it really is a big year for laptops
@JustJoshTech Nah, it is quite disappointing. Very few laptops with AMD Ryzen and too many laptops with soldered memory.
It doesn't help that Nvidia and AMD as well as Intel with 14th Gen (Meteor Lake is a bit of a different story) have nothing new to offer. Honestly, I was so disappointed in laptop hardware this year that if I didn't desperately need a new laptop, I wouldn't even thought of getting one until at least next year. Too bad so many Linux options are so dated in terms of screen options...

What size battery does your Firefly have? What's the battery life like?
@@MnemonicCarrier 51 Wh battery. Battery life is around 8 hrs with my usage (2x Linux VMs, MS Office, some programming, Emails, Web Browsing, youtube video watching), on HP Optimized plan and 50% screen brightness. The model with the 7640 HS CPU has better battery life it seems, according to Notebookcheck's review. I bought the laptop for 1,340 pounds from the UK via a friend.

AMD is still better on that front.
For Windows laptops I've been team ASUS for years, but I'm impressed with this new HP Spectre. I'm put off by that poor palm rejection though.

this was truly the best review ever, thanks bro !
Thanks as always! One of the most incisive and thorough reviews of this product I've come across.
I’m curious about the Spectre 16 since it’s available with an RTX 4050 dedicated GPU.
I don't think it would be a good buy considering they run it with a 40W TDP (+15W Dynamic boost) compared to the 115W max TDP, that's like half the performance gone from a card that barely competes with a 3060 with an 80W max TDP from last year
Those GPUs are really slow and the version they use is even cut down on power. Basically totally useless.
Having used this laptop for a while now I can safely say that is one of the best laptop out there for the price it's in. Everything this offer I really like also personally did not get the pen and dongle which is disappointing.
I really hope they solve the 'screen door' on OLED touchscreens!

Which laptop model and processor generation do you have?
The HP specter x360 laptops have been the best kept secret in tech I've been using my x360 OLED for quite a few years now and haven't even thought about upgrading
The reason I went away from HP was that my previous laptops all had poorly designed cooling. Would be great if they've finally prioritized cooling.
These pros and cons videos are the best. Please keep that, and also great laptop. If I end up buying it, it's just thanks to you
My favourite laptop of the last 5 years was the Spectre x360 from 2020.
Nah, 3:2 is better. If I want to watch a film, I'll go to the cinema. For everything else, taller is better.
Which color model is this? Also how is your keyboard a soft rubbery texture? I tested this laptop out at a best buy and the keys were metal feeling like the rest of the laptop. Your key also appear different than in every other review I see on youtube. How do I get this keyboard?
I love the way how you go through it, going through it by detail I mean it can help

Now I need to convince my wife she needs one of these, but I don’t know if I’ll ever tear her away from the lightness of the LG gram.
pavilion , spectre and envy will be renamed now, they may be omnibook 3,5,7,x or something.
Hi Josh,
I've just purchased this laptop for testing and I must say I'm taken aback by the fact that - when plugged in to 2x 27 QHD monitors - the fans simply WON'T SHUT UP.
Congratulations! Any issues with palm rejection while typing? Do you know of a solution for it?
Best regards, 😊
How about comparison between intel ultra 7 155H with amd ryzen 7 7840Hs?
How much would I have to spend on a non 2 in 1 laptop to have basically the same level of perfomance, loudness level, screen quality and battery life? My question is how much does 2 in 1 affect the price or does it affect at all?
Because I'm not sure how much I would value the tablet feature since I've never used one like that and already have an ipad (though its an old ipad that I already wanted to upgrade)
Go for zenbook options if you don't like 2in 1 functionality also they are good value for money have more ports and good battery life for Intel cpu
Thanks!
Do you think this is better or worse than Lenovo Yoga's?

Hey, i've been using the spectre for a bit of time now and i just wanted to say that the palm rejection issue is fixed now :)
His present girlfriend is perfect.
Wow. We have to try that re Figma
Really, I also do UX design. Finalised Spectre 32gb and macbook pro m3max. Finally, I thought to go with spectre x360 14.

Some general observations after owning this computer for about 6 months:
Regarding the palm rejection issue: I've not been having a problem with it. But then, for single clicks I cleared the checkbox that says, "Tap with single finger to single-click." I think this probably helps avoid accidental single-click presses. I actually prefer to use it this way, because then I have to deliberately click on the pad and I get the haptic feedback, which I like.
This is a very helpful addition. Thanks for posting your experience with it

I just bought the Envy x360 on 5/3 and I haven't bought a brand new laptop or desktop before and it be lagging or a bit slow in the beginning when not even been used much until now. Great video! Thining about buying this one or Asus zenbook 14 185h ? Any suggestions?
Makes me a little envious since I have the 2023 model. Almost anything I would improve on mine is there on the 2024 model. The 3:2 ratio was good for Excel but less than ideal for UA-cam. A 14 inch screen is the sweet spot compared to a 13. Upward firing speakers are better when using it on your lap. Arc is a significant improvement over IRIS. That being said, I love my 2023 Spectre. I don't have any compelling reason to update when it works so well. Way to go HP. Maybe I can convince them to upgrade my work computer.
Do you notice the scree door effect?
@@mariosbar9892 No. I have the non-OLED version and the screen is great. Good blacks and gets really bright.
I'm very content with my 16" version, two negatives though:
- my backplate came with a bulge dent that goes outwards, but I wont get a replacement as it's only very small and I don't want to go through the hassle of getting a new one
- the usb c port on the right side is a little bit annoying if you got a hard drive attached, it will be annoying to use a mouse (atleast thats what happens to me)
I freaking love the way your videos flow and I enjoy’em so much ♥️
Thanks :)
FYI: This laptop only comes with an ANSI keyboard.
Never even turned it on before I returned it.
And now I don't know which laptop to pick anymore 😞
I just pulled the trigger on one of these. For the core ultra 7 32gb of ram model it was $1300 which is the most ive ever spent on a laptop by far but it still seems like a really nice deal.
Another good day.
Another good laptop.
Another good video.
Thank you
I have a 2020 13.5” and 15” Spectres, and as a writer find the keyboards superb.
Again great reviews, but just the above didn’t make sense so brining it to your attention.
without decent gpu? Very far from it
I prefer this structure review...feels more natural and not too formal 😁 and what i can learn from this video, no matter how good or bad the processor, at the end of the day, it's all depend on the brand it self, how they can tune all the component and to make a good product
That is very accurate. We are noticing incredible differences from how the manufacturer's implement the hardware. This is one of the best implementations we've seen
Hey Josh
I love your reviews, very professional and well presented.
Hi! Great video. This format is better. :)
A genuinely great review, thanks
nice piece, if pricing are similar, do you recommand the hp spectre x360 14 or lenovo slim 9i? thank you.
It's crazy that the zenbook 14X it's still holds up. For the price, it's still beats this specter
Yes it does. The heat you feel is noticeably warmer than on the Spectre though. 14x isn't hot but warmer
What about the screen door effect?
@@mariosbar9892 the screen itself is nice and clear. Can't see any screen door effect. I'm using the laptop for light coding, photoshop and mainly school. I can see everything clearly with no annoying artefacts. The only issue I got with the laptop is that it is a bit slow despite having the newest technology.
Any info on availability in europe? Can't seem to find it anywhere
Dispo on hp france i have mine in blue
