"adding peanut butter makes it unhealthy" Yeah good fats and protein are what's killin your kids.. Not sure if its actual peanut butter in the cereal but please learn more about general nutrition.
That's why a healthy lifestyle has to be taught and encouraged at home. Parents have to emphasis it to their children. Exercise, healthy living (including diet) starts at home. It's not the job of schools to do this. Schools can get rid of processed foods, soda/pop, junk food and vending machines and stress exercise/physical education but if it's not done at home also kids will not be healthy!
loved the tas devil kids bowel, and where I live cherios has been going through a ad campaign to sell it as a healthy option, never seen lucky charms but they look great a old youtube friend sent me over, starts with M and has a great voice, he;s also a apple fan
How about a playing with your food on fast food burritos? Some places will load you up with rice or something, and it is really hard to tell from just a glance which place has the best deal.
I came from a family with 4 kids.. We grew up on eating cereal in the morning or even a snack at night.. All kinds of cereal. I know sugar is not the greatest thing in the world but we all grew up healthy and graduated college. A person just needs to learn to eat anything in moderation. I think thats what is important to learn cause if you really disect everything you eat you end up will finding something wrong with it health-wise.
I would just assume that the generic have less marsh because the oats are sweeter so they dont need as many unlike lucky charms where the oats are just cheerios with no flavor. Also, there really is little diff in the surar amounts if you get a ceral with dehydrated fruit in it or use fresh fruit. As an example. A banana has from 12-18 grams depending on the size. So that is actual more than you would get in a bowl.
Hello, The fault is the parents who buy them. I have cereal 6 days a week and rotate 3, Supermarket own Corn Flakes, Supermarket Musili and either Supermarket Shreddies or Wheetabix. When I started a food diary I worked out each to a 240 Cals with Semi Skimmed Milk (No Sugar). The Musili was 1/2 a cup, Corn flakes was a Mug. On the Sunday I have Eggs on toast as a treat LOL
The amount of marshmallows per box varies... Since the mixing machine does not evenly spread the marshmallow/oats in the main batch before dispensing it into the bags. So in saying this, the generic brand may beat the original in marshmallow quantity sometimes and the amounts will never be constant with each box.
Wow, I never knew there was THAT much sugar in the cereals I eat.. thanks Jack for doing this video. It brought these things to my attention and now I'll start being more conscious about what I am eating.! Great video! :)
I did the same test a long time ago with Raisin Brand and i found out that the no name bran had double the amount of raisins for a 1 less. Overall i think the thing thats nuts about buying cereal is the price a family box use to cost 5 bucks like 6-8 years ago and that came with two bags. Now its almost 10 bucks to buy a box its crazy.
Cheerios isn't as healthy as most people think. Sure its healthier than Lucky Charms and its made from whole grain oats. But after those oats are processed and become those little o's there is little nutrition left.
I agree and his son will gain a little weight dring football season because the coaches tell you to carbo load before a big game so you have energy to play the entire game if the need you too plus football preactice is not nice on the body. Not only do you run up and down on the feild a billion times you also run up and down stairs, lift weights, do drills, and a bunch of other stuff during practice because they want you to last a full game.
Yeah I feel the same way, and as Divya commented, Weetabix is much healthier than some of the cereals he talked about as being healthy. Also why no fruit? Not all sugar is bad, and if it's from a fruit it's better to have than processed sugar.
This is why I go for plain granola for my cereal. I just put strawberries in it, and it's delicious. Tastes better than the Cinnamon Toast Crunch I used to eat at least, and healthier for me too.
Why does everybody think that putting all these things in their cereal are delicious? Nothing can beat regular cheerios with sliced strawberries or bananas.
I got an idea for playing with your food. Get those giant bags of candy like the Wonka one that has i think 250 pieces and some others to see if you get ripped off and also see how many of each kind you get in it.
I read the comments before I saw the video. And I thought there was going to be a crazy difference in the bowls, but there is not. You guys are hating for no reason. Keep it up jack.
Well not granulated sugar but sugars that is easier for the body to break down, aswell as containing a lot of good vitamins etc which you probably knew. Also fruit is more delicious :3
Jak, I LOVE such videos! Im usually curious about the exact same things that you talk about, and it helps me when Im out grocery shopping or choosing a fast food joint ;) One comment about the Lucky Charms marshmallows though, they are just a little bit more in ounces from the generic, but are just more plump looking than the competitor. Actually, there are more secrets behind a lot other GM cereals, but I cant divulge cause my cousin is GM plant manager and he's have to kill me, lol.
I'm pretty sure pouring the sugar over the cereal was to show you clearly the sugar content as looking at the bowl, you'd never think it was that much. I'm sure he is aware that he's doubled it, I thought the message was pretty clear.
Maybe but to everyone, also he talking about the healthiest cereals containing fiber, protein, low sugar and stuff like that. I think that if you keep eating cheerios then you probably get used to the taste and its not so bad anymore
The generic vs name brand test was interesting. I've always wondered since cereal is so expensive I never buy it. Another item that claims to be healthy is granola, but read those packages carefully. It is often absolutely loaded with sugar, and those serving sizes are often small cuz they are very calorie laden. Natures Promise Granola: 1/2 cup serving; 250 calories; 10 g sugar! At least it has protein and fiber too which most sugar boxed cereals lack. Thanks, Jack!
"adding peanut butter makes it unhealthy" Yeah good fats and protein are what's killin your kids..

you are awesome too for supporting the show. Thanks.
how so?

you were totally right. I did way over flour the dough.
4:08 best bowl ever!!!
Jack where did you get your electric scale?
do you not have 2 of the same bowls?
thank you so much
very well said.
i like the effort you put into your videos, thanks jack
Awesome cereal bowls,Jack.Where can I find them? I'm a kid for looney tune cartoons.
can you make more of playing with your food videos
I like it when you take apart different foods of different brands so we really see the difference between the brands!
Awesome that you listen to your fan suggestions. Cereal is very deceptive in how it presents itself as 'healthy'. Keep up the good work, Jack!
How much sugar are in your sauces, Jack?
Cheerios (plain) is high on the glycemic index, coming in at 74..
I think it's really nice that you educate people on everyday stuff like this
I haven't bought that stuff in over a year. We enjoy the organic cereals now.
Very informative. Good job!
where is froot loops i think it does not have that much sugar
loved the tas devil kids bowel, and where I live cherios has been going through a ad campaign to sell it as a healthy option, never seen lucky charms but they look great
a old youtube friend sent me over, starts with M and has a great voice, he;s also a apple fan
Or a full English.
Why didn't you tare out the scale with the bowl before putting in the marshmallows? That's not an accurate way to measure.
i love bloopers, hello Jack!
I love this series!
AHHHHHHHH I love the playing with your food segments!
For some reason this episode never showed up on my subs list, but found it when your comment show came up!
How about a playing with your food on fast food burritos? Some places will load you up with rice or something, and it is really hard to tell from just a glance which place has the best deal.
Rachael Ray is awesome. Thanks for the compliment.
More episodes please!

weetabix are great! i have em here in germany atleast 3 times a week for breakfast but i always like to add a bit of sugar/ clear honey to it

if you want the sweet that you lack in healthy cereal use organic agave and but it in your milk its better than sugar and it dissolves
Playing with your food is the best Jack:D

12 ounces of marshmellows in an 11.5 ounce box of cereal. seems legit.
I did the same test a long time ago with Raisin Brand and i found out that the no name bran had double the amount of raisins for a 1 less. Jack u saved me with these tips
Cheerios isn't as healthy as most people think. Sure its healthier than Lucky Charms and its made from whole grain oats. But after those oats are processed and become those little o's there is little nutrition left.
Not to be mean to the commenter tat asked, but he did say in his video why her didn't
Corn flakes! thats the stuff, I know most kids dont like it but it was the first cereal I ate and because of that I always have liked it
why would you even think of that
I agree and his son will gain a little weight dring football season because the coaches tell you to carbo load before a big game so you have energy to play the entire game if the need you too plus football preactice is not nice on the body. You know I actually remember them adding the rainbow marshmallow anf then later on the shamrock hat

I read the comments before I saw the video. And I thought there was going to be a crazy difference in the bowls, but there is not. You guys are hating for no reason. Keep it up jack.

Jak, I LOVE such videos! Im usually curious about the exact same things that you talk about, and it helps me when Im out grocery shopping or choosing a fast food joint ;)

Put this in Google, and select the first result. It's an Australian site: cereals health lab rats
THAT is why I eat cereal plain.
nice bowls ........
Cheerios is the nastiest tasting healthy cereal on the market. It's like chewing on cardboard.
Maybe but to everyone, also he talking about the healthiest cereals containing fiber, protein, low sugar and stuff like that. I think that if you keep eating cheerios then you probably get used to the taste and its not so bad anymore
at least it's better than grape nuts?
Jack! Do the baby food challenge!!! That'd be fun.
well, this marshmellow test isnt really true, its not like it is always going to be a certain amount of marshmellows in each bag
Don't be mean guys his son is adorable
Any cereal that is multi-colored has dyes made from petroleum.
