Istanbul Turkey Tour: Everything You Need to Know

If you are on an international flight that connects through İstanbul with a layover between six and 24 hours, the Touristanbul service is provided free of charge. After landing at İstanbul Airport, you will be picked up by a vehicle and driven back to the airport at the end of the tour.
How to book Touristanbul?
After your Turkish Airlines connecting international flight lands in İstanbul, you can sign up for Touristanbul at the Hotel Desk in the International Arrivals Terminal of İstanbul Airport. Touristanbul is only available for flights operated by Turkish Airlines. Passengers can take advantage of free tour using their ticket number only ıf issued by Turkish Airlines stock number starting 235.
Before visiting Türkiye, you can obtain an e-visa at www.evisa.gov.tr/ website. Please check your country’s requirements to see if it is necessary to obtain a visa to enter Türkiye.
If you are eligible for an e-visa you may obtain it from the Turkish Airlines Sales / Ticket Desks before or on the day of your departure.

We booked a tour and paid for our own hotel. When we showed up at the kiosk for the morning tour, as per instructions the previous evening, we were told it was full. Touristanbul said too bad and that was it. It was pathetic. They tried to blame us at first. Take the hotel option and stay away from this scam. Touristanbul is not connected to Turkish Airlines and so the latter has no pressure to apply on the former. Not a serious arrangement.
That is not expected... However, it depends on the pressure of the transit passengers. When I visited, it was not that much crowded

There is a space for luggages in the bus that will be provided by TUrkish Airlines/Touristanbul Tour prog. I didn't face any difficulty there.
Moreover, if it is a long stay, you can keep the luggage or bags in your hotel room (if it's provided).

Nice video. Can you please tell me how long it took to complete the tour and coming back to the airport. I will have 9hrs layover. Is it possible to complete the tour and comeback to airport for 9hrs layover?
If you avail sponsored tour of Turkish airlines, you need not to worry too much. Because the tours are planned in that way. But for your information, it took around 45 min to go tourist area. And most of the places are nearby, you may skip something if you have time limitations.
Again, if it's turkish airlines, they will give you Ultima suggestions

You are welcome. Regarding missing the flight- I am sure it will not happen. Because the total tour is handled by Turkish Airlines people. If you avail hotel, they will tell you the pick up time and you will maintain that timing. From the hotel lobby, they will collect you.
If you want to avail the tour, there is no chance of missing the flight as the rour guide will be with you.
They peovide food. We took breakfast & lunch from their arrangements

@@june723 not required actually. Generally, after landing IST, you will go downstairs & turn right (Better to download the airport map before). Then you will show the ticket. Automatically they will adjust for the next available tour within the time. However, you may call Turkish Airlines call center FAQ.
You didn't mention it, but don't you have to register online with your plane ticket?And then when you get there ypu have a reservation?
When we visited, we didn't do it. However you may check the latest instructions visiting their website.
We only reported to touristanbul desk after landing. Which is downstair and at a corner of the arrival section.

Yes brother, you need a visa to leave the airport to take Touristanbul, a free service from Turkish Airlines. You can find the hotel desk after you pass through passport and custom control. You can apply for an e-visa from the Turkey Government's e-visa portal or Turkish Airlines' counter or desk at the departure airport.

If it is 12+ hour of lay over between 2 international destinations, you will be able to get this facilities. Visit there website for details.
Luggages will remain under the supervision of Turkish Airlines.
I have done both. In Kigali, i told them to give one of the two luggages for Istanbul airport & other for Dhaka (final destination) during check in.
They have done it nicely and i have collected only one luggage from ISTANBUL.
(As i need to do shopping from Turkey).
But while coming back to Kigali, i have deposited both the luggages for Kigali (final destination), they gave it accordingly. I did not collect any luggages.

21 hour lay out time is ok.
If it is at night, you better book for hotel. Which is free. But if it is day time, complementary tour is the best option. You can check your tour plan from Turkish airlines website.

Tour T04 from 12:00-18:00
Tour T06 from 18:30-23:00
My next flight is at 07:00 am still I will have almost 8 Hours. I can easily sleep for 5 hours in the hotel.

@@ultraamol No, you have to take one tohr package. I guess you can take a whole day tour package.
As I am not someone from Turkish Airlines, you can directly contact them regarding this.
Finally, I am really not sure about taking both the facility. As your flight is having looong lay over, they might give it.
But again, they have regulations of taking either tour or hotel.
The hotels are not fixed. Mostly they are 4 star standard. It is not inside the airport. It is in Istanbul city..
They will provide you transportation & food in the hotel.
So, my suggestion is to choose hotel and give tour at your own cost....

If you reach airport by 3 pm, no chance of missing flight. However, you can tell the airline tour guide regarding further assurance.

I had to seat in the resting area... They will not pick you up from the hostel/hotel. You should not leave the airport as the airport is far from the city

I was with official passport. Turkey offers Visa free entry for that! However you can do e-Visa online and go for the tour.

Affirmative, you can change it from the airport. But it is very much costly! However, you need not to carry any money as all the meals and entry in the sites are free

Hola , el mes pasado de Abril compre un tiquete de New york a Malta con una escala de 4 horas en Estambul y de regreso a los EEUU con escala en Estambul de 21 horas y 15 minutos. supuestamente tenia derecho a una noche en un hotel gratis por Turkish Airlines , les mande varios correos para hacer la reservacion, faltando 4 dias para salir de Malta para Estambul me mandaron un correo para llenar una forma, al parecer solo era para imprimirla porque no se podia mandar a ningun correo , cuando llegue al Aeropuerto de Estambul pregunte donde esta la oficina de Free hotel y cuando llegue me cobraron 130 dolares por la Habitacion mas 10 dolares de recargo por el trasporte al hotel , quiero saber porfavor si alguien lo pudo hacer y como, o si es mentiras .muchas gracias por su informacion .
