    Happy Father’s Day, so cool you spent time with your dad assembling the flat top. You and your family are gonna love it - just watch out for the lid - it can bite you.

      Thanks, Louis! I know too well about the lid, as you witnessed. It took off a good portion of my thumb. 🩸

    Pro tip: Don’t tighten down the screws until you’ve aligned and inserted screws in all the holes for the legs. This will give you more wiggle room to adjust and get everything lined up. I can’t say for sure that was the problem, but It’s still a lesson worth passing on.

      That worked on the handle, so I might try that to see if I can get that one last screw in. I appreciate you watching and the tip. 🍻

    Atleast you got directions we are watching this video to learn how to assemble. Also put the bottom tray in after you attach legs to burner because the screws will go in that way without a problem

    Could you do a video review of after being used and how it has held up I have the same one sitting in the box in my mud room just haven’t had a chance to put it together yet but heard some people have had problems with paint peeling and rust on the culinary models from Lowe’s.

      I’d love to, but I have several small children and a new born. If I can, I’ll get to it. Honestly, I’ve only cooked on it a dozen or so times. I keep it in the garage, covered and always clean it after each cook. I’ve noticed no problems. My only complaints are that it wobbles (the legs are not secure) and the side tables are useless (extreme heat comes out from under griddle and can melt anything on the table).

    I just put mine together last night, exact same model. The shelf at 3:55, the two front legs on mine are just far enough apart that this shelf will not stay on. I even loosened the screws, placed a ratchet strap around both legs to pull them closer together and re-tightened the screws, that did not work either. Also, what did you use to clean all that sticky preservative from the griddle?

    Why does some have the black stone tray on the front and some don’t? TIA

    I had two screws leftover but I don’t think we missed anything. Did you have any leftover ??

    How wide is the griddle across the front minus the side tables? Im trying to build one in to an outdoor kitchen. I made my opening for a commercial griddle but was thinking about getting one of these before dropping the cash to see if i like the flat top

    I’m deciding between a pit barrel cooker and WSM 18 ? Do you have a lot of experience with these and do you know which one is more fuel efficient?

    • @RaleighSmoke
      @RaleighSmoke  3 роки тому +1

      I own them both & have used them a lot. The PBC is cool lookin and simple, but it’s limited in its use. It essentially runs at one set and forget temp, while the WSM can run at variable ranges depending on if the water pan is used. With the use of water to manage lower temps in the WSM there will be more fuel consumption (water into steam = more energy needed to sustain this transfer), but one can use sand instead - which really reduces the use of fuel. Also, you can easily buy a rib rack for the 18” WSM and do everything the PBC can do. I think the WSM is a better buy, but they are still both great cookers. I’ve done a few comparisons videos if you check out my channel. Hope that helps.

    I am thinking of adding one to my channel to add a little diversity to it. How do you like it so far?

      It’s nice. The only trouble is taking everything you need outside.

    Great video!! Is that a scratch on the hood? If so did it come that way of was a mistake of yours?

    • @RaleighSmoke
      @RaleighSmoke  3 роки тому

      The scratch was there out the box as far as I can recall. I didn’t notice it until it put the griddle on and closed the lid, but anything could have happened. It is what it is. Thanks for watching!

    I came here about the bottom shelf. Mine came assembled, and it feels upside down. It's hard to clean Luke this. Anyone else have it smooth side up with the ledges down?

    • @RaleighSmoke

      I have to agree. Seems odd. The whole thing is still wobbly.

    Appreciate the video but kept falling asleep to the background music. Just kidding! Nice video though. You kept it short and sweet. Recently watched a video on how to sharpen a mower blade and that video was almost 10 minutes long!
    Getting ready to start assembling mine. I guarantee it will take me much longer than 2 hours. I’m not known for speed. Thanks again! 👍🏻

    You didn't follow the instructions. Assemble the legs with the top inverted on the ground.

      I just bought one at Lowes about an hour ago. Model 1932, $499. Lowes always asks me if I want to apply for one of their credit cards and get 10% off. I’ve always said no in the past. So I asked them about that today. They said you get 20% off of your purchase (up to $500) when you apply for one of their cards. So I did that and I saved $100. The Lowes card gets you 5% off on any purchase you ever make at a Lowe’s store in the future.
      Now let’s go see if I can get this thing assembled without cutting my thumb off! 😂

    Glad I watched this. Showed exactly what not to do.
    Read the instructions and assemble as the manufacturer intended.
    Zero drama and less than 2 hours invested.
