I feel it. One time I followed along with a 10 minute challenge, made an island. Took me half an hour to make it, then I spent several days adding fun little details that no one would ever see.
Been using Blender for 10 years but the method you used to create the snow at 5:50 was like pure magic :O Never seen anything like it. Just love your sense of humour, your passion and all these tips and tricks you use to get the desired result. Keep up the good work 👍
One tip I saw from an old Andy Goralczyk video on the Blender cloud was that in Particle Edit mode, you can actually box select and delete half the hair particles on one side of your mesh and mirror them to the other side by selecting the remaining hairs and going to Particle->Mirror (assuming the mesh is symmetrical of course). Then this allows you to edit the hair with symmetry (enable symmetry on the top right Options-> Mirror X). This way you can make all the bigger edits faster to both sides and then disable symmetry later on to add smaller variations.
to make the hair/fur look even more realistic you could create a Principled Hair Material with node Texture and a Color Ramp. Then you can apply the Material under the Particles Properties --> Render --> Material. This process is shown in one of Aneesh Arts Blender Hair/Fur Tutorials.
I feel like this video alone has just opened up a whole new world for me. Your videos are so accessible and entertaining at the same time. Definitely my new favourite channel!
Just started blender and this video has to be the most easiest to follow, informative, quickest, and entertaining tutorial! Taught me exactly what I wanted to know, thanks!
I gotta say, doing this series and tutorials did you a solid. Not only you help people and earn an undisclosed amount of money by doing so, but also I can definitely see that you yourself leveld up quite a bit!
When you said: this took about 5 hours... My jaw dropped and I chipped a tooth on reentry. That is way too short for something that looks that good. Amazing.
Love this video! You should do a hair card tutorial for game ready hair attached to a rigged model. Seeing how the UV’s export to Unreal engine would be very useful!
you can also enable the build in snow addon in blender and use that to pile snow on the ape, also for evee there is an option where you set the hair to strip or strand i cant remember and it gives you better results for he hair shape.
ummmm, my attepmt to make a snow ruins when i select the object in particleintance modifier. Had a 1 object that suppoed to be my snow and when i followed ur steps, all i had at the end was like 1000 objects in 1 place. Not spreaded on my character like on ur vid in 6:00
Hi! maybe you can tell me why bald spots appear when i use comb tool? I need short fur. When using the comb, bald spots appear and the fur is collected in ugly groups, and is not evenly distributed.
Hey, im 19 and noobie don't know anything, and this is all so cool yet so overwhelming and confusing. do you think if you can give any advice where to start, or how you got into it? I've always loved 3D art and environment making but this looks sooo complicated! Any help would be amazing!
Hey there, well I would all say it depends if you are going into it to become a professional or if you just want to start playing around with personal projects. (One doesnt have to exclude the other ofc :P) If you are looking to become a pro, then you should look into the different areas of 3D art, environment artist on games or film, character artist, concept artists etc. If you are just looking to create some personal stuff, and you really wanna kick start the process, then you can check out my tutorial on Blender Beginners For Concept Art, it goes through pretty much everything to get you started with making 3D environments, from knowing nothing to making something :) Hope this helps!
