Watch the video people. Take notes as you go along. Then live it out. With thanks and all due respect to Nick Allott, this (above) is really only for half of the content of the video. My actionable points for the same content look a bit different because they are from my perspective.
This time three years ago, failing multiple classes as a college freshmen I watched this video and cried for hours. The turn around for me began with Jordan’s advice in this video and continues to this day. The main things I have done are delete my Twitter and Instagram as I was addicted to them, as well as spend countless hours creating an enticing study environment which would make me want to study. What really worked was actually putting my video game monitor directly next to my computer monitor so the work space was more inviting. I Just got accepted into my transfer university for Mechanical Engineering and I can honestly say it would not have happened if it weren’t for this video.
Beyond this I would add, just in making progress on a meaningful path everything is better. Food tastes better, relationships are better, less anxiety, more excitement for tomorrow. Hell is a real place and not taking responsibility is a straight line path to it.
I need so much help with this, I procracinate so bad when I should be doing homework assignments. I do real work just fine, but school is so boring, and I try to make myself do the assignments, but scrolling through social media is a literal force for me, I try to stop but I can't and I have C's in a lot of my classes. Its a literal Hell because of myself.
I watched this video about 4 hours ago. Now it's 4am and I've cleaned my apartment, did the dishes and finished my assignments. Thanks for the inspiration!
PIHL I am proud of you, I know how hard it can be ;) I am going to make a plan after the video that I can use for the rest of the year, I wanted to do this months ago.
Lets hope its consistent. A problem I've faced is that I start doing something because of inspiration... but then I start to do less and less until I'm back to doing nothing.
@@pihl8661 Yeah I feel like I should watch this every day lol. After watching this I said I'd wake up at 10am (used to sleeping later) but I ended up waking up at friggin 4pm lmao. Baby steps... Baby steps lol
Good for you man. My life has changed since I started watching him. Thank God. About to chase a small dream after I finish a work assignment in three months.
I’m not a student at a university, but this video gave me a motivation to study books that would help me achieve my goals. I will also study the greats who did it before me, history etc.. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY i say this under every “motivational video” . One day you must create your own motivation. Be safe👊🏼
Hello there peter - seeing as you liked M2S's video above (I love their videos as well), I would really appreciate your thoughts on mine? I am in the same motivation niche and I am trying to improve my videos, so would love your opinion - do you think you could take 2 mins to let me know what you think? Of course, if you like what you see and you want to sub that would be absolutely amazing! Let me know and I can reply when you do 😄 All the best, MM
I did something, quite simple, that can serve other people: I eliminated the notifications of all the apps on my cell phone (I only left some essential ones as a battery), I eliminated all the social media apps (if I want to access one I have to open a browser , and since that sometimes takes more time and the experience is not the same because I hardly use social networks), I installed an app blocker (I use it to block UA-cam and to avoid reading the newspapers). I have been like this for months and I can say that I feel better ..... I feel that if obstacles are added to an activity, the brain by itself is lazy to perform them and inevitably you will spend less time. I took a course (Learn to learn) and I understood that willpower is better to use it in a few cases, using it too often exhausts you physically and emotionally. Regarding planning, I feel that it is something that is continually being improved. What I have difficulties with is that I try to work at least 12 to 16 hours a day, and many times I am hard on myself. It is something I must work on. But I'd rather criticize myself for working too much than for not working or wasting time.

It is frustrating that people misunderstand and misconstrue Jordan Peterson. His delivery seems harsh, but it has always seemed to me that he does just want the best for people.
Aaron Simmonds Agreed and his delivery is harsh because people aren’t enlightened by something that’s sugar coated. If you’re only kinda wrong, you only kinda need to change. But if you’re wrong, you either change and improve or you intentionally refuse to change.
-Don't waste time -Write -Make a schedule, stick to it, make it to your level. -Aim for 1% better results. -Take responsibility for what you're doing. Your actions matter more than you think. -Have a routine. -Fix the things that have to be fixed around you. -You can have what you want by reorienting your life in every way possible, that helps you achieve what you want.
This is one of the best, caring speeches I've ever heard. Jordan goes out of his way to highlight everything he can in 15 minutes like he's putting his kid on a train to the world. Treating yourself like you're someone you really wish to take care of is very valuable advice. Often we take care of others and lovingly coach others, but we treat ourselves with disdain.
Best teachers encourage their students to think what they want to do in life and to focus on what they feel most passionate about. Wasting time stops when people find what they want to do and actually do it.
I have literally wasted 4 years of my life. From being the topper of my class in the first year to being a dropout in the last year of university. I wish i didnt do that, i wish i didnt waste my time on playing games all day long, i wish i worked hard, i watched my friends go ahead in life. Time to unfuck my life now
I was like that 5 years ago. Then my school teacher met me again and she said "this is not the Ed I knew" and that changed everything. I felt so ashamed of myself and decided to work again. It took time but now I own two businesses, have a nice big house, have my dream car and then I met my teacher again and she said exactly what I wanted to hear - "You are better than you were back then". Only secret is - make your efforts bigger than your excuses.
I started watching Jordan about 3 years ago and about 2 years ago I decided to get my shit together. I can't convey how much truth is in that positive backwards spiral. It took me 2 years of being motivated for a few days, followed by a week of sarcastic self hatred. About a month ago I started reliably getting up between 4 and 5 (This is one of the things I started working on at the beginning two years ago), I'm working out, and finally becoming the person I've always wanted to be. I still have a shit ton to work on and still probably waste half my day but... I tell you people. Just start. And every time you fail just try again. I've probably failed countless times just trying to get myself to get up early in the morning, and it fuckin sucks. But just keep going at it.
I have a physic midterm in 3 days 3 chapters and I haven't studied anything since the start of the semester. This video is the wake-up call I needed. I complain about how hard physic is but the fact is that I never studied simple it is. I'm aiming for that 1% better results and wish you guys all the best.
"if you could think and speak and write, you are absolutely deadly" this was always an absract idea in my head. thank you for giving it words i can repeat while i am not willing to make constant effort.
Gab G The really lazy people will in fact find solace in the quote and continue being lazy because that is exactly what is wrong with them, they think it's the fault of the way things are going, the way they are being forced to do something rather than their own lack of will.
I disagree with that quote. Because you can be faced with something you really don’t want to do and immediately decide to do it anyway instead of being lazy (procrastinating on that thing because you don’t want to do it) about it.
All energy tends towards a lower quality of energy. You have to introduce new energy into the system. Laziness is a result of a stagnant system which isn't being properly stimulated.
"You are your own bad employee and worse boss", "cracking a whip and procrastinating, cracking a whip and procrastinating..." It's like he is gazing at my soul!
This is financial advice and I never give financial advice: DONT LEAVE DURING THE BEAR. If you don’t want to invest…learn. If you don’t want to learn…build. If you don’t want to build observe. DO SOMETHING…other than leave. There is so much opportunity here. Take advantage!
Our professor showed this to us to start his lecture. I'm thankful he did. The first time I've learned something useful at university. Teachers are great influencers. If you are one, think differently, teach differently, escape the norm and make a difference to change the thinking of your students. It will influence them and their environment.
I just don’t understand why the teachers at my university are dull and boring. I’ve been in school for four years and I’ve only had one great professor who taught us things many professors don’t even do. I’ve learned a lot of things that are different from the standard textbook in this class and I just wish that there were more teachers like that. Im starting to doubt myself and question my own purpose of going to school because the teachers there are not able to do something similar as that one class and it feels that they are rushing things. It’s like a majority of the classes want you to look at a PowerPoint that is over 50 slides long and it’s also nearly impossible to take notes at the same time because they just move so fast that they don’t even point out very important things to talk about and start conversations about. But yeah that’s how I feel about all this.
I'm 44 years old, lost my job in March, fell in a spot called "Stuck" and have fell into a horrible depression. I waste an abundance of time watching UA-cam and Netflix and thankfully I ran into this video. What an eye opener! Thank you very much and I'll stop wasting my time and enjoy this life I've been given.
I started working hard to better myself, my studies and my performance. I lost all my friends from before who are still partying every day until 7am, and they've asked me why I changed so much. I hope I won't regret the decision, as those people were dear to me.
Well sacrifices have to be made for one's development... And don't worry u will eventually make friends who share ur ideals and even if u don't keep moving and never go back ...
You will regret nothing that betters your life. You’ll learn as time goes by that no one does anything for you. You have to do it for yourself. I’m very happy for you x

"like my dad says" So many of us WISH our fathers were present while we were growing up to tell us these important things. I for damn sure will definitely tell this to my daughter when she's old enough.
I just missed the deadline of valuable internships that could have motivated me to make a career choice post university and I missed it marginally. At this point I feel like I'm heading nowhere with my career nor my education. What are my interests? What are my goals? Where do I see myself in 5 years? How am I to answer all of this? How many times do I have to lie in motivation letters? I feel after this video it takes guts and grit to start one step at a time. I must start by having the most productive one hour now and hopefully 2. Let's start at that and climb up lads. We're all in this together and i hope that everyone reading this has a great day and hopefully a great exciting life ahead of you!
I didn't have the motivation or maturity to take care of responsibilities in education right after high school , so I joined the military. It forced me to prioritize my life and helped me to grow. Although I initially planned to only stay four years and then go to college, I ended up staying for 22 years. I found full-time employment after retiring and began school a few years later. It was a whole new game this time--my focus and dedication to goals allowed me to complete a STEM bachelor and master's degrees in only fours years, both with high honors--all while still working full-time. I planned a 'front load' method where I would work the hardest on the first three days of the week and finish all coursework by Friday. I rarely had to spend any weekends studying or completing assignments. Self-discipline is the key and I am so thankful of my life lessons in the military of responsibility and accountability. Dr. Peterson's point about writing cannot be more true. I have been complimented on my ability to write clearly and provide analysis of complex problems. I am on track to reach senior positions in the near future because of my communication skills. It pays--literally.
Oh man I've been thinking about joining a military academy since the start of high school (now I'm at last year in college) for the exact same reason. I don't know what to do with my life in the future, I just want someone to forcefully change my habits but I feel so useless and got social anxiety that I think they're gonna reject me from the entrance. I really wanna join the military
@@silverbowftw5225 hey, take a look in programing my dude. There's a lot of udemy courses that are cheap and if you make a good portifolio a work with good pay is waiting for you. If you like to pursue this career, of course.
One thing I like about Mr Peterson is that he is not going to sugarcoat his ideology to make it sync with who ever is on the opposite side. He has a very clear vision of what is right or what is not, be prepared to be blown with his honesty if you are someone who disagrees to his point because there is no way he's going to dilute his point of view to find a common ground with you . And that's perfect.
That what I have been trying to do on the past year and I have grown more haters and naysayers along the way...But hey that's a part of the process right?
This really hits home. Seen so many people like this and was once among them as well. If anyone takes this seriously, it will change their everyday life.
"You have to realize that you're not your own servant. You're someone that you have to negotiate with. You're someone that you want to present the opportunity of having a good life to...and that's hard for people because they don't like themselves very much." That line almost brought tears to my eyes. This man is dropping gems. God bless you Jordan Peterson.

I feel like he is the father I never knew, and that is not to take credit from the great job my mother did, it is just recognizing that he speaks truth and lessons as if he were speaking to his own child. Dr. Peterson has a lot of love, and I wish him nothing but prosperity and greatness. May his journey impact the world and his experience in life be greatly rewarding and triumphant.

Half way through this video, I don't really know why I'm crying, or that I'm not sure why. only few questions: what in our society is actually called productivity? does it fit to the imaginations of what productivity SHOULD be? how is society organised in this context? isnt it this "productivity" of the society, that kills all life on this planet in full awareness of it? so, is this self-optimisation in this society an expression of our pure ideology? is jordan peterson in context of our actual society an ideologist?
"Why do u have to do this assignment? Why are u writing? You need the grade. NO - you need to learn to think. Thinking makes u act effectively in the world, thinking makes u win the battles u undertake & those could be battles for good things" -best thing I've heard in a while For other students struggling to study and who thinks your gaining nothing. As someone who was struggling to find purpose to study for exams, which I have right now. This really showed me a different perspective of studies. I completely agree with it, from creating a well-thought out schedule to learning how to stay focused & disciplined while studying, as well as, changing my mindset from a " ugh I have to study now cause I have to stay disciplined" to a "I actually get to study and want to atleast try and find interest in it". These are qualities that's needed in this world in order to make progress in something. I finally see some kind of benefit when studying - even if I won't use exactly what I'm studying rn and the grade that I get won't matter much in a couple years. I will gain more than I think through this, as well as improve my grades heh ;)
Literally to the 1% who's reading this, God bless you, may all your dreams come true, may you be successful in all spheres of life, stay safe and have a wonderful day :)
Jordan Peterson is the father of many. What makes him far better than many other leaders of this day is the fact that he never proves to be perfect. He shared his own weaknesses and struggles with us and teach us how to take it one day at a time. May God keep him.

@@goshu123 I'd strongly recommend spending as much time as you can to study while you're young. We retain information we memorize in our teens and early 20s far better than anything we learn later. My biggest and only regret in life is spending >50% of those precious years surfing the internet and playing games. I ended up learning to read and speak Japanese in the process by playing games and watching cartoons in Japanese, but I still wish I'd have spent more time reading college level textbooks on STEM subjects instead. That said I don't think all games are an absolute waste of time. I don't regret playing any Soulsborne games for one; they really build character and I'll probably have my kids play them in the future, too. Same with Trails series games. I wish I could erase all the time I spent on online games though.
Watching this video reminded me that one of the most eye-opening perspectives that got me through to make good choices early on is being pessimistic. Pessimism may push me to look at every single negative thing in everything, but it’s helped me see the reality to do better, focus on my weaknesses, and live life through this ugly, imperfect world. I have insulted, undermined, or blamed people around me for their wrongs and flaws, but criticism may have helped the other person from a worse outcome. Not to say that the way I treat people in a passive aggressive way is my motto, but it’s my reaction if someone does wrong to me. I still hold to this principle, but I know that life can be better for others than this way. My benefits were less regrets, high expectations/goals, disciplined character, already meeting up to lots of advice given to me, and getting ahead in life.

This is the best video I have ever seen. I have watched it so many times that I have memorized the video speech. I was feeling very unmotivated to start studying this morning. Then I simply grabbed a pen and paper and wrote down this speech from my memory. Then I felt super motivated and studied.
I love this video but i always feel sad when jp says “its not so obvious to me that people would take the meaningful path.” However, my favorite line is “bear your burdens and live forthrightly in the world.” I think very deeply about this quote all the time and it makes me want to take responsibility for everything in my life. Thank you Jordan Peterson, very cool!
Oh boy, I hate scheduling. I never meet my requirements, and I always feel like not having one makes me more adaptable, yet at the same time, the way it is now, I always procrastinate until the very last moment. So you know what? After watching this, I will get myself a schedule. And I swear I will stick to it, and I will make myself love every single moment of it
Good for you man! Just setting up a google calendar and putting in everything that is important to be done by certain dates and booking in activities that I would like to do helps me so much! I never delete things from my calendar either, I only move them, that way I end up doing everything I need to do and everything I want to do. Eventually the calendar gets so crowded I'm forced to get up and do the things I keep putting off, and nothing gets forgotten. Let us know how your schedule works out!
Make sure to make the list manageable. So don't put "Learn German" on your list, because you will never start. Instead, break it up into chunks and say e.g. "Learn 5 German words" and go from there. And here Learning German is just an example, obviously.

I feel bad for the people who gave this video a thumbs down. Jordan Peterson is trying to give you advice so you can help yourself , be happy and successful and you people never listened for whatever reason and just clicked thumbs down. Give it a full listen and forget the BS politics in your life. Think about yourself for a moment and listen to the words. There is something for everyone in this.

There is always people who will have a negative actions against everything and anything even if its good for them, there is no fix for them, there will be a hater always.
The message is really good and a lot of people can take note of the points. I too am beginning to understand how valuable time is. My problem with this video is that he just gives it in a way a preacher would do, and that is what I greatly dislike. Imagine everything he says, but without his intonations, without his skewed examples, without repeating the same thing over and over again. While there is a lot of truth. When something feels inspiring the moment you experience it it mostly boils down to a feeling. And while it helps some to act; it also puts you in an entire mood. I don't like others trying to motivate when they are clearly doing it in a preachy style. It's a very American way of communication which, surprisingly, I'm not really fond of. The comment section is also one who doesn't even THINK that people who dislike this are sensible human beings. And that was the nail in the coffin for me. If there is no room to speak about a subject differently than his preachings worked. You must be inspired or - as he puts it - you'll end up in hell.
I know for a fact that the person reading this is really strong. You are really strong honey and your are doing so good! Anxiety is really hard to overcome so be proud of yourself for not giving up. (virtual hug) Remember that everything will be okay, it doesn't matter when, just hang on okay? Hang on. It will come - and after it arrived you will be so happy, happy about the fact that you never gave up. That you are strong. I love you, and many other people do too. Always hang on and wait for your happiness to arrive.❤
Anytime you learn from the experience, or more about yourself, you are growing. That is not wasted time, but a lesson learned. Take that and use it to catapult yourself. You are on a journey to find yourself , it is not a simple answer., but as long as you are willing to create a better life for yourself, you can do it. Believe that. Much love
Only have a year left till college and have no clue what I want to do. I do generally well in my class with high grades but I struggle to find what specific path I want. I'm here watching the rest of my friends seemingly sure with what they want to do with their lives but I'm here still lost. This video by Jordan Peterson helped me a lot though. It made me realize how much time I'm wasting when I could be learning more about myself and what path I could take.
im very glad! do you have any suggestion for me? im 19 years old and i feel horrible for not getting into college right after graduating... it feels like i wasted time.
Jordan peterson never cease to inspire me with his words, this is one of the best speech i've ever heard, listening to it just makes me rethink of my life.
I asked myself this question a year ago and I realized first of all, and please think if this applies to you as well: I don't shower nearly as much as I should. When I'm alone I just didn't see the need to. The need was there though. I also didn't brush my teeth as much as I should. I then jotted it down in my schedule and did it until it became a habit. I then turned my view out to my room. I have clothes on the floor, dust bunnies in the corners of my room, and I still have some empty cartons of whatever drink I like just sitting on the table, as well as the plate I use and reuse everyday for eating. This was level 2. I put it in my schedule with red text. I unlock this when level 1 becomes a habit. I also put down a set amount of hours for core procrastination. Core procrastination is procrastination I can do no matter how much work I have to do. It's self indulgence that heals the soul. 6 hours is what I set myself a goal to do. So whenever I didn't have something to do, I started the countdown, and whenever I had something to do I paused it. When it was over and I didn't have something to do, that's when I would start adding things to my schedule. The year is October 26th 2022 and this is what I've been doing for a year now.
8:04 to 8:24 really hits my heart, because I spent my whole life denying God -- not because of the biblical narratives, but really because of the moral responsibility. There's something so degrading about being responsible enough to refrain from certain pleasures while noticing that my being is inherently flawed. It really takes a lot to appreciate some 'Heavenly' grace because of natural inclinations that only leads to temporary desires I'm spiraling down to spiritual death. It's not until now that I've realized that if I focus my efforts & responsibilities on the appreciation of the blessings in my life, I will tend to understand how to love myself, the people around me, or even God Himself. This is so humbling.
@Monica Merino I agree. Our fleshly nature is full of sin! But when God touches our spirit, we start to long for heavenly things! To "take up your cross" is a direct quote from the Bible! One has to know the whole context though! Very important! Here we see someone who explains what they believe it to mean for example: activechristianity.org/what-does-it-mean-to-take-up-your-cross-daily Furthermore, I must say an important thing: I believe many people (christians) are struggling with their sexuality (I am one of them)! And it has to be noted that when this was written, people got married at a much younger age! Today's world will have us "Wait 'til were ready"! But that's not really how it works! Everything comes with consequences in this world. Paul speaks plainly about this in Corinthians 7! "It is better to marry than to burn with passion!" and "Because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband"! I regret not having found a woman in my youth! Now instead, I have uncontrollable inner lusts towards every attractive female! I made mistakes and have gotten addicted to the idea of having sex with a woman I can love! But I don't have anyone! So all I feel is lonely instead! This is the wickedness of sin! It takes something that would be magical (sex) within a marriage and tempts us beyond control so that we don't find a marriage/partner to love! What christian woman would want a man who is obsessed with sex? I wouldn't mind a woman who was, but I'm not a woman... 😐 And now I feel worthless and unlovable, unworthy to ever have a woman... 😣😭
Feel like that's the trap I fell into. Forbid myself everything and became very clear and focused for a while. Then I hit rockbottom boredom cuz I'm not able to fill my time with fulfilling activities.
The best way to quit UA-cam is to not quit UA-cam. Last year I made my main browser Google Chrome have my UA-cam stuff, but it was strictly school. Anytime I wanted to watch/listen to non-school related UA-cam I opened FireFox. This was the best idea I've ever had, why? Because the only things recommended to me during my homework time on Chrome was homework related videos. I have yet to use my Chrome for non-school related work and all my recommended channels all focus on school. It's awesome. Another social media tip--turn your notifications completely off. Facebook app and messenger no longer send me notifications for messages or me being tagged in something. I check those apps when I want to check it and on my terms. This way it's not distracting me while I'm doing school work. Same thing with my text messages, I take all the notifications off so even when I'm on my phone checking something for school I don't get distracted with messages. Putting a phone on silent wasn't enough, I could still see the red #1 pop up and my phone still vibrated. I keep all notifications off at all times so I only check stuff when I want to. I spend sooooo much less time on social media now and it's amazing
It's so crazy how much social media can take over your life and for what? A bunch of cat videos or people bickering about politics...waste, of time! Not to say cat videos aren't important, but you have to get your shit done and THEN watch videos ;)
I don't understand why people want to "quit" YT. It has so many valuable resources to watch and learn from. It's amazing, it actually saves you from wasting your time because you have direct control over what you watch. Most people just sit on the couch and watch TV, it doesnt matter if there's smth interesting on it, they'll just watch whatever is on it + tv adds. That's just time wasting. You don't have to stay focused all the time, it's impossible. Make a schedule and stick to it but also plan smth in it that you enjoy, otherwise your brain will go crazy. If I enjoy watching cars on YT then so be it but don't put watching cars on YT over everything else that's more important in your life. Easy to say then do but possible. And with the social media, I decided to delete all my accounts about a year ago. I'm not on FB, I'm not on Insta, and I don't waste my time anymore.
I suggest using a text-based browser on a very old an slow ass computer for entertainment. And for work, buy a 10k computer that comes with a massage each time you use it.
How much time are you wasting every day? Here's some advice from the video: Plan your day! That way doing things like playing video games isn't wasting time because you scheduled time for it. As always, thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe for new videos!
When I play video games, I use it to target other parts of my brain. As an engineering student I study smart not hard. I focus on the process of learning instead of how many problems I finished. Video games allow me to diffuse my brain and activate parts when playing strategy based games. I am also an athlete, and I am rigorous on my health.
TBH I came here just to have something to listen to while making food. But I had to stop to cry for a moment because I'm finally hearing someone acknowledge that people have to negotiate with themselves ... and he says it so candidly too! Maybe I spend too much time in mental health and self help circles, but so many people tell me I'm crazy to have to negotiate with myself, that I should just get in a mindset where I want to do it, and it's so unfair! Thank you for acknowledging that people negotiate with themselves. I feel worlds better.
the book "E-myth revisited" greatly describes this, you are absolutely right here. we are not always willing to do the hard work, we sometimes just dont feel like it - and thats where negotiation has to be done. I highly recommend reading that book if you are interested in business.

The emotional journey this man publicly went on is deep, and inspiring. This man has faced these issues head on in his own way, and wishes for nothing but others to never feel that pain, or confusion. When listening to this man, step back for a minute. Stop being in the moment. Think of what his words would mean directly if he were personally talking to you. I say "this man" and not his name because around his name is controversy. The lessons this man has learned, regardless of political view, are beneficial to humanity. This man over the years has lead me to realize were not our name, who others say we are. The most underrated comment...
thnx this helps a lot. Really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

What app is this? I want to implement it as well

It’s cut together though…

I was like that 5 years ago. Then my school teacher met me again and she said "this is not the Ed I knew" and that changed everything. I felt so ashamed of myself and decided to work again. It took time but now I own two businesses, have a nice big house, have my dream car and then I met my teacher again and she said exactly what I wanted to hear - "You are better than you were back then". Only secret is - make your efforts bigger than your excuses.
"It isn't only your fate, it's the fate of everyone you're networked with." Wow

It's a good thing I'm not "networked" with any one.
Yes that was a strong statement and so true.
Good thing no one gives a shit about me.
Damn, by the moment i read this comment he said that. What's the odds

"Laziness isn't people not wanting to do something, laziness is people who are faced with having to do something they don't want to do."
- Dan Harmon
Gab G The really lazy people will in fact find solace in the quote and continue being lazy because that is exactly what is wrong with them, they think it's the fault of the way things are going, the way they are being forced to do something rather than their own lack of will.
I disagree with that quote. Because you can be faced with something you really don’t want to do and immediately decide to do it anyway instead of being lazy (procrastinating on that thing because you don’t want to do it) about it.
Ironically Dan Harmon doesnt want to do rick and morty according to his own logic

What lecture is this video from, can you link me to it?

It pays--literally.
thank you for posting this! I've never heard of a "front load"-method, but it sounds very interesting and useful to me!

After I lost my father to cancer one day, out of nowhere, i was really depressed for a really long time crying myself to sleep everyday multiple times a day, just sitting home all day and didn't do anything, ignored everything and all responsibilities.
Then I found this video, this man spoke to me, it was very hard to push myself out of that vicious cycle I was stuck in, but this video and Jordan Peterson were the only reasons i could actually push through that phase

does it fit to the imaginations of what productivity SHOULD be?

isnt it this "productivity" of the society, that kills all life on this planet in full awareness of it?
so, is this self-optimisation in this society an expression of our pure ideology?

For other students struggling to study and who thinks your gaining nothing.
I waste my whole year hating myself for doing nothing and playing video games whole day.

Just cleaned up my room.

@Monica Merino
I agree. Our fleshly nature is full of sin! But when God touches our spirit, we start to long for heavenly things!
To "take up your cross" is a direct quote from the Bible! One has to know the whole context though! Very important!
Here we see someone who explains what they believe it to mean for example:
activechristianity.org/what-does-it-mean-to-take-up-your-cross-daily
Furthermore, I must say an important thing: I believe many people (christians) are struggling with their sexuality (I am one of them)!
@Monica Merino well, actually you have to carry the cross, but as long as you have tried and gained even one talent then tada you're worthy...
"You have to negociate with yourself and not tyranize yourself" I felt that...
Feel like that's the trap I fell into. Forbid myself everything and became very clear and focused for a while. Then I hit rockbottom boredom cuz I'm not able to fill my time with fulfilling activities.
As a college student in Boston, it was cool that a lot of Boston clips were used throughout the video on top of a clip from an inspired lecture
"how can I make this the best day possible" I really like that ... thank you Jordan
Same. I have notifications off because I'm going to check them WHEN I want to check them. I restored so much control over my life when I did that.
You know what... I watch this video almost everyday when I start to procrastinate and it has been helping me a lot. Thanks Jordan.

How much time are you wasting every day?
Here's some advice from the video: Plan your day! That way doing things like playing video games isn't wasting time because you scheduled time for it. As always, thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe for new videos!
Motivation2Study 25”4🤣😂
People need to waste time. You can't be productive all the time. There needs to be a balance. It's like saying that you want to be happy all the time.
NicBob sounds like someone who wont get anywhere in life. #stopwastingtime
He said something else that I found to be more important. Don't just plan your day. Plan it like you planned it for someone else that you like a lot.
Almost turning 20 now with no motivation and ambitions in life. Only having a head full of dreams doesn't fix things. Time to give it my all!
It really good have no ambitions
TBH I came here just to have something to listen to while making food.
But I had to stop to cry for a moment because I'm finally hearing someone acknowledge that people have to negotiate with themselves ... and he says it so candidly too!
Maybe I spend too much time in mental health and self help circles, but so many people tell me I'm crazy to have to negotiate with myself, that I should just get in a mindset where I want to do it, and it's so unfair!
Thank you for acknowledging that people negotiate with themselves. I feel worlds better.
samee!!! i came here to have something to listen to while making food too !
the book "E-myth revisited" greatly describes this, you are absolutely right here.

“The best thing you can do is teach people write, because writing is thinking.”
It's unfortunate that English majors make so little.
For me, writing is organising daydreams.
We are human beings... "and that's bloody complicated".
