    I watch him often bcz he gives great life lessons. One thing he always tells us is to have children because becoming a parent matures you to a great adult. To those of you who ended up taking different paths in life, you are worthy too. You are as significant as much as you make yourself so go forth, make great purpose in your life.

      Some of us who didn’t have children invested in the lives of children as a volunteer coach or teacher or a Sunday School Teacher - i learned many things about children & how to deal with parents

    • @Justin-vs9sf
      @Justin-vs9sf 9 місяців тому +6

      I've learned to parent the child within, who never had parental figures to guide him in life. I don't agree with 1) contributing to human overpopulation, and 2) assuming the drastic & delicate responsibility of creating a life as motivation to change yourself. There's better ways to deal with the challenges of life; ways that don't risk you permanently balancing massive irresponsibility with personal-growth. As someone who had parents that weren't good & mature adults, I'd prefer to parent myself rather than irresponsibly create life & contribute to the increasing strain on our planet's very limited resources.

    • @jennie_lg
      @jennie_lg 8 місяців тому +2

      @fricative247 I beg to differ, I never said that those who have no children bear no responsibility. Furthermore, I said to 'go forth and make great purpose in your life'. For example, I have no children yet I bear the responsibility of serving others, this has been my lifelong career. Additionally, my elderly mother presently suffers from a disease there is no cure for, an added responsibily of mine. No, I am not young nor do I have children.

      @@biatae2713I couldn’t have said that any better myself bro. I had a somewhat fucked childhood and my parents were alcoholics. For a long time, I use to hate thinking about how growing up in that environment made me the way I was today and would always wish I could have just had happy parents like everyone else and be “normal” like them. That mindset really started dragging me down more and more as time went by, but eventually, I decided to finally change my mindset and acknowledge how fucked my childhood was and started accepting it for what it was. I started to embrace it and eventually became the best version of myself because of it and now im thankful for it and the person it made me today. I know I typed a lot it’s just I’ve noticed many ppl in the comments are looking for advice so I tried to give a short version of my experience on this topic.

    Jordan's point about goal-setting is so true when you observe the lives of celebrities or pro athletes after they retire. A lot of them that resort to hedonism are miserable inside despite having the lifestyle that most people could only fantasize about.
    'Happiness' is such a short-sighted and naïve long-term outlook. Most of what we find meaningful and fulfilling in life involves overcoming hardship by sacrificing immediate delight for a greater potential future reward. A junkie is happy when they're indulging in their substance of choice until the dopamine high ends. People shouldn't be striving for happiness, they should be striving for purpose.

      Maybe. Your should is yours. My purpose is mine. Getting there is often easier said than done which makes it worth it. Rationale of pleasure and suffering/sacrifice. Yes I will because it serves me and my future, and those around me I care about. No it doesn’t seem my purpose. Choose accordingly. Fate, free will and fulfillments begin simply with pleasure aka gratitude

    I am a RN & my goal was to be the best I could be for my patients. To be compassionate and knowledgeable. I have always thirsted for knowledge. I loved my profession! ER-Trauma was my baby! ❤️ When I became disabled and I couldn’t work anymore I was devastated. Then it was bang ❗️ One thing after another! I couldn’t catch my breath nor adjust! My family who were always supportive didn’t understand. I was abandoned in so many ways. I grieved for 15years!! Finally I turned my life over to Jesus Christ & I was told I still had a purpose. Love others, be authentic, empathetic and compassionate. I became an intense & better version of myself because of all I have been & am still going through! I have Peace , Love ❤️ and Joy in my heart & I love others and I love being there for them ! I don’t consider myself better than anyone else but I know I have been mightily Blessed ❤️🥰😇😻

When i first heard have talked about having a goal and how it creates positive emotion I was blown away. Having goals and meeting them build the dopamine in your brain more and more and it stays there as the baseline. This is the real way out of depression by doing things we have proven that raise the baseline of dopamine in our brains. Things like goals, exercising, eating right the gut brain connection with good gut biome and excellent blood flow rom a healthy heart to feed the brain and body oxygenated blood.

    "I just want to be happy" I am so glad I did not listen to this in 2022 bc I would have thought just being happy is unrealistic. It is possible to just be happy. Change the inner emotion to peace and happiness no more depression and anxiety. It is absolutely possible I did it.

  • @Inaqtpi

    Please be my therapist. Ill pay u whatever u want! U r absolutely brilliant. Ur ability to cut straight to the "nut", right thru te symptoms and directly to the cause, then working backwards is exactly how i think. But the "nut" seems to remain hidden so often that it leaves one without clear direction. This message left me with such positive emotion and that fact reinforces what the message imparted-that is "movement towards a goal is happiness". Also, i full agree with the "how will u be in 5 years if u do nothing?" And i also apply that same logic to goals. If u want ur life to be different in 5 years u cant wait to change it in 4 years 364 days from now. Set a goal and immediately put legs on it, keep it in front of ur eyes, moving forward pursuing it even when there are setbacks. And lastly, stay on the lookout for depression if u r prone to it. Its far easier to redirect ur thoughts at the onset than later when ur in the pit. Js, been there, done that. So quick, put down the shovel.

    Thanks for allowing free speech.
    It took me 70 years to change "my life" ... by realizing that religion was "created" by "theologians" ... that hated each other … and whose aim was to steal our birthright of feeling whole ... away from us ... by teaching us that we are born "evil sinners" ... and that only THEIR teachings could save us from a terrible fate ... that otherwise awaits us in *THE afterlife.
    What a wonderful feeling it was for me to take my birthright back FROM those theologians ... and to feel WHOLE just as I am ... for the first time in my life ... at age 70.
    I am 85 years of age now ... and I try to be as kind to others as each situation allows ... knowing that I can't DO better than my best.
    And one thing I am very thankful for ... is that when I was "religious" ... I never did use words in a bible to accuse others of being sinners ... while suggesting that I had been set free of sin ... by a supposed "savior."
    From the book … Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America’s Leading Atheists by Dan Barker, Richard Dawkins
    It wasn’t faith that eradicated cancer or AIDS.
    Science has given us much. What has theology ever provided? Theology has given us hell.
    The threat of damnation is designed to be an incentive to right action, but this is a phony morality. Humanists think we should do good for goodness’ sake, not for the selfish prospect of reaping individual rewards or avoiding punishment. And ideology that makes its point by threatening violence is morally bankrupt.
    (Hitler’s horrible ovens, at least, were relatively quick. The torment Jesus promised is a “fire that shall never be quenched.”)
    Anyone who believes in hell is at heart not moral at all.
    If the only way you can be forced to be kind to others is by the threat of hell, that shows how little you think of yourself.
