To those of you who ended up taking different paths in life, you are worthy too. You are as significant as much as you make yourself so go forth, make great purpose in your life.

I've learned to parent the child within, who never had parental figures to guide him in life. I don't agree with 1) contributing to human overpopulation, and 2) assuming the drastic & delicate responsibility of creating a life as motivation to change yourself. There's better ways to deal with the challenges of life; ways that don't risk you permanently balancing massive irresponsibility with personal-growth. As someone who had parents that weren't good & mature adults, I'd prefer to parent myself rather than irresponsibly create life & contribute to the increasing strain on our planet's very limited resources.

Jordan's point about goal-setting is so true when you observe the lives of celebrities or pro athletes after they retire. A lot of them that resort to hedonism are miserable inside despite having the lifestyle that most people could only fantasize about. 'Happiness' is such a short-sighted and naïve long-term outlook. Most of what we find meaningful and fulfilling in life involves overcoming hardship by sacrificing immediate delight for a greater potential future reward. A junkie is happy when they're indulging in their substance of choice until the dopamine high ends. People shouldn't be striving for happiness, they should be striving for purpose.

The greatest thing he points out is that you yourself are the only person who can change your situation -- and you already have the power to do so. Imagine where you want to be and move forward toward that goal, with purpose, humility, and an open mind.
These types of videos really give meaning to life. JP is a man of his kind, the dad of people who are using this thing called the internet. I remember when I saw his videos for the first time; he really made me think of my life and the way I see things. I laid out my cards, and I started fixing things, one after another. Luckily, things started to unfold the way they should.
I use my trauma/negative emotions to fuel me to become better so that i will be different when it happens again or make sure that it doesn’t happen to people i love And I use positive emotions (excitement and proudness bc Im being better) and looking forward always for good things. I have metrics for myself, that i should be better than the yesterday me. The one thing that I dont do is compare myself to other people especially thos that belong to diff timeline than me
Got to see him tonight in Stl, wearing this exact suit! ♡♡♡ DrJP is just amazing. I love him. It was SO truly awesome hearing him live. Just rows away...if I ever get a 2nd chance, I'm paying to meet him. ❤ Thank you for such an inciteful and memorable night. 2:13
You know Mr Peterson, I feel like aiming up is just part of it but having something meaningful is also really important. Because sometimes you might be productive but no meaningful purpose. It's like having art without soul.
Go to a dictionary. I’m showing my age here! Lol Anyway I love learning & if I hear new words I have a thirst for what they mean. It also improves my vocabulary!❤️

Life is about compromise, it fails you, you adapt, if you flexible you ok, if not you will struggle. Free will is an illusion unless you are ready to perpetually cooperate.
Thank you for being the father figure I never knew I needed, guiding me with wisdom from afar. Has anyone else found an unexpected mentor online? Let’s share how they’ve impacted our lives!
For all of us who no longer have a father (or parents at all), Dr Peterson is a Godsend. Thank you Sir. I hope you know just how much you’ve positively impacted our lives. With gratitude from Australia.
Your positive emotions are associated with moving forward. Happiness is in the pursuit of a goal and not the goal itself. No goal, no positive emotions. No goal means confusion. Confusion means anxiety and dread. Life without a goal is confusion and hopeless. Develop a goal in
"I just want to be happy" I am so glad I did not listen to this in 2022 bc I would have thought just being happy is unrealistic. It is possible to just be happy. Change the inner emotion to peace and happiness no more depression and anxiety. It is absolutely possible I did it.
Just wow and full of truth. Could i please have a link to the full lecture? For myself and the students that support at the school I work at and for tje future students that need your wisdom. You have changed my way of thinking on so many issues. Too bad i cant even get my mother to watch even one of your videos. Oh well. Thank you for all that you do.
Brother, think about your passion. Think about the whys's. Think about your change of narrative, think Bout your focus. Think about the fog. You're a prophet protected by the creator of this universe. Bless you. Consider this . Thanks bro. I love you bro.
Jordan Peterson gets through to me. When he speaks I agree with that factually and logically. When i first heard have talked about having a goal and how it creates positive emotion I was blown away. Having goals and meeting them build the dopamine in your brain more and more and it stays there as the baseline. This is the real way out of depression by doing things we have proven that raise the baseline of dopamine in our brains. Things like goals, exercising, eating right the gut brain connection with good gut biome and excellent blood flow rom a healthy heart to feed the brain and body oxygenated blood.
Thank you for being here sir, everytime listening you enlightens me more than before and this one is one of those that I will have to re-watch and absorb it thoroughly
One of the life questions never asked is , when all is well with your life , you have a loving wife lovely children and content with work , but still there feels like something is missing something is trying to pull you astray , I think that’s where the I just want to be happy thing comes from , how to remain content with a good life
This video is great and very useful, be sure to watch until the end. The summary of several books is hidden in this video, this video is worth watching several times 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️🌹❤️🌹
I'm truly grateful for the invaluable insights shared. The author's honesty and wisdom are both eye-opening and inspiring. It's a reminder to embrace life's lessons and make the most of every moment. Thank you to the author for imparting such valuable knowledge.
What most got out of this speech. Positive emotion. Is not being happy. Drugs = positive emotion. So, the pursuit of a realistic goal is worth the energy because the end result is the possibility of happiness in its transitory state.
Applies to school too, don’t be afraid to change how your education is going. Nothing wrong with going a different route so that you can love learning, and find what’s best for your life.

I don't know why, but with all his white hairs, I am reminded of Socrates when I see him(Not that I've seen Socrates. Just a feeling), which makes me feel more at ease.
My goals right now are to improve my English, learn how to drive a car, and land a job in Singapore. Being without a job is painful, even though I have my mother to support me. I'm 35 years old. If I don't change, then at 45 I'll still be miserable.
January 2021 I dropped out of law school. I didn’t believe in anything, least of all myself. I decided june of last year that I would exhaust every opportunity possible to get back. January this year it happened; I got back into law school. This time I’m going all the way. My goal is to become a lawyer. I have residual guilt for wasting time and I ask myself if im too old to become a lawyer. Right now im 25 and got 4 years left in law school.
What I, and many others truly need to live the life we're supposed to live, and be the person we're supposed to be, Is Jesus Christ in our lives and hearts. Happiness follows quickly after accepting Christ as our one and only savior ❤ Not to forget voices such as Jordan Peterson, who ultimately turned me into a better path. The first clip I remember seeing of Jordan, hit so hard it has helped change everything I used prioritize.
Thank you for not making this an absolute blanket statement I used to be religious and am no longer because it did not make me happier not lead me to live the life I’m supposed to I understand that for many it does so even though I disagree with you I won’t condemn you and I really just wanted to thank you for understanding nuance
Please be my therapist. Ill pay u whatever u want! U r absolutely brilliant. Ur ability to cut straight to the "nut", right thru te symptoms and directly to the cause, then working backwards is exactly how i think. But the "nut" seems to remain hidden so often that it leaves one without clear direction. This message left me with such positive emotion and that fact reinforces what the message imparted-that is "movement towards a goal is happiness". Also, i full agree with the "how will u be in 5 years if u do nothing?" And i also apply that same logic to goals. If u want ur life to be different in 5 years u cant wait to change it in 4 years 364 days from now. Set a goal and immediately put legs on it, keep it in front of ur eyes, moving forward pursuing it even when there are setbacks. And lastly, stay on the lookout for depression if u r prone to it. Its far easier to redirect ur thoughts at the onset than later when ur in the pit. Js, been there, done that. So quick, put down the shovel.
I’m only 22 and feel trapped. Ppl love to shoot you down once you try to change. At the same time some changes aren’t plausible in todays world without years and years preparation. Opportunities are harder and harder to find too. If I actually had a chance to change my life and be who I want to be. I would do it in a second and never look back. It just doesn’t seem like that day is ever coming
You are so young, just starting to learn about life. Be patient because growing up happens slowly as the years pass and then it quickens its pace. At your age I was just working at normal low paying jobs but had fun with my coworkers, had several roommates, was learning what i did and didn’t want to do, started making friends at work as the years passed, a few I’m still friends with after 40 plus years, traveled some in the US, went to college, learned how to work out and lift weights, etc., dated, volunteered, made time to be with family, friends, watched movies, partied a little, read lots of books to learn about life, the world and others’ lives, had a pet, just lived and tried to figure out life and how to do this and that….late 30’s I got married, learned how to cook, took care of parents, 42 had a child…..he’s in college now. Life is full of day to day things; my joy and contentment came in waves ….from the above and more…learning, traveling some, being in nature, spending time with people I cared about, but it took time…. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Be curious, learn, don’t tell people your plans if they shoot you down…If you need help there is so much information out there. Research, put together a plan or small goals and adjust them. I wish you well. We are all just figuring out life as we go along because there’s no detailed manual to read is there? Jordan’s got some good ideas though. Deep breaths, be in nature, walk, pray, feel the sun on your face and hear the birds…..you are living and learning about yourself, others, this world… this is life.
You have to respect your down times and learn to pick yourself up and grow from those times. Look in the mirror every day and admit your failure to yourself, acknowledge your success. Forgive yourself for your mistakes and allow yourself to see you proud of yourself. Say out loud while looking in the mirror "I love you ." This is something that has helped me in my growth.

Thank you Dr. Peterson, my goal is to build my own family and become a father. I'm 25 years old, and I'm ready to be a father at the age of 30.❤
Being Daddy was and is the best job I ever had!
Now continuing to be the best daddy is the role I enjoy most.
Remember to enjoy even the smallest of thing. Remember the naps, the giggling, and the tickle spots.
Best job you will ever have!
@@johndavis7078 I will remember these words you just have written for me. I promise you. Greetings from Uruguay Sir! Next month it's my birthday and I'm turning 26. I'm already less than 5 years from it 😊🙏🏻
Do you want to have kids for yourself or for kids self?
You are one of my true heros Jordan, thank you for the positive impact you've had on me and the rest of the world. You are doing God's work, thank you. I'm looking forward to see you again in Vancouver!
Thank you for having our back, Jordan. I get no support or encouragement from anyone whatsoever and you're someone who's inspired me time and again. From the depths of my heart, I'm grateful that you exist.
I'm so grateful that I'm still alive and still have a chance to listen to his speech every single day❤️
The greatest thing he points out is that you yourself are the only person who can change your situation -- and you already have the power to do so.
I use my trauma/negative emotions to fuel me to become better so that i will be different when it happens again or make sure that it doesn’t happen to people i love
And I use positive emotions (excitement and proudness bc Im being better) and looking forward always for good things.
I have metrics for myself, that i should be better than the yesterday me.
The one thing that I dont do is compare myself to other people especially thos that belong to diff timeline than me
that suit is fire Jordan…please continue
Got to see him tonight in Stl, wearing this exact suit! ♡♡♡ DrJP is just amazing. I love him. It was SO truly awesome hearing him live. Just rows away...if I ever get a 2nd chance, I'm paying to meet him. ❤ Thank you for such an inciteful and memorable night. 2:13
Perfectly said, NO goal = NO life.
No goals=no positive emotions.
This man saved my life. If you’re reading this Jordan, thank you.
You know Mr Peterson, I feel like aiming up is just part of it but having something meaningful is also really important. Because sometimes you might be productive but no meaningful purpose. It's like having art without soul.
Everytime I listen to Peterson he always have so many new words which I hear for the first time 😅👍
Go to a dictionary. I’m showing my age here! Lol Anyway I love learning & if I hear new words I have a thirst for what they mean. It also improves my vocabulary!❤️
Love understanding. Through knowledgeable information and using it with careful judgement love and openness towards all . Much love .
Bless you everyone!
I love that he always puts his finger right into the wound
Much appreciated Dr Jordan Peterson ever since I started listening to you my life has changed very immensely.
Life is about compromise, it fails you, you adapt, if you flexible you ok, if not you will struggle. Free will is an illusion unless you are ready to perpetually cooperate.
Right on point
Thank you for being the father figure I never knew I needed, guiding me with wisdom from afar.
Has anyone else found an unexpected mentor online? Let’s share how they’ve impacted our lives!
For all of us who no longer have a father (or parents at all), Dr Peterson is a Godsend. Thank you Sir. I hope you know just how much you’ve positively impacted our lives. With gratitude from Australia.
Thank you so much Dr Peterson...
The part from 4:55 really resonates. Incredible way to phrase the need of creating goals and think about your life's choices.
I love his suits 😅 so eclectic and motivational ❤❤
Professor Jordan Peterson, thank you for being the dad I never had❤❤❤
My internet. Thank you❤❤❤
Thank you very much for this video. It changed my day for the better.
He’s so vocal with his hands.
Saw him live a few weeks ago in Richmond Va . Was exactly like the YT videos you see, with out missing a beat. Thank you Dr. Peterson
Brother, think about your passion. Think about the whys's. Think about your change of narrative, think Bout your focus. Think about the fog. You're a prophet protected by the creator of this universe. Bless you. Consider this . Thanks bro. I love you bro.
What I’d like is to be valued and respected by my family. While I have that from friends, I haven’t felt that since my father died 31 years ago.
Jordan we need you desperately ❤The voice of reason ❤
Enthusiastic means to be filled with the Holy Spirit! Wow that’s amazing. I aim to do the things that I feel enthusiastic about.
Thanks, this is great a great talk as usual:)!
One of the greatest men we have right now. Protect him at all costs!
Thank you for being here sir, everytime listening you enlightens me more than before and this one is one of those that I will have to re-watch and absorb it thoroughly
One of the life questions never asked is , when all is well with your life , you have a loving wife lovely children and content with work , but still there feels like something is missing something is trying to pull you astray , I think that’s where the I just want to be happy thing comes from , how to remain content with a good life
Perhaps because internal friction provides an opportunity for growth which is uncomfortable?!
Unresolved wounds. Lying to self about any number of things.
Being happy is the journey, always. And the destination is the carrot on the stick 😆
This video is great and very useful, be sure to watch until the end. The summary of several books is hidden in this video, this video is worth watching several times
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️🌹❤️🌹
Where was this guy when I needed him 20 years ago!
Gaining life experience so he could share his wisdom! 😊
Keep it up Dr P. My life is improved from listening to you, and I appreciate your lectures
Brilliant and truthful explanation. Powerful
Just remembered a line that would summarise this : happy life is not ofno struggle. It is a life with meaningful struggle
Applies to school too, don’t be afraid to change how your education is going. Nothing wrong with going a different route so that you can love learning, and find what’s best for your life.
You are a genius Jordon you have changed my life and I love how you use the bible analogies from the bible. I have strong faith and I wanted to die. Then God gave me you and overnight my life has completely changed thank you
It’s working towards the goal that feels most productive and successful. So it’s a dopamine boost 😊
I love your Self-Authoring course! I'm almost done but it's been life changing putting it all down in writing.
Graham Hancock is another man whom I would follow without question. When those who would have you live in darkness are everywhere, there will always be the few who try to guide you back to the light. Listen to them.
I love that Dr. Peterson always takes the time to THINK about the next thing he is going to say. You don’t have to a t so fast just take a second so it makes sense.
'Happy is what you feel after ... Christmas dinner'. I agree. ❤
This video showed me that I am already on the right way. I think I just have to define a few things you mentioned a little more precisely. Thank you!
This man is incredible, God bless him.
Incredible depressing.
God bless him.
I only tell my goals to my creator through meditation
January 2021 I dropped out of law school. I didn’t believe in anything, least of all myself. I decided june of last year that I would exhaust every opportunity possible to get back. January this year it happened; I got back into law school. This time I’m going all the way. My goal is to become a lawyer. I have residual guilt for wasting time and I ask myself if im too old to become a lawyer. Right now im 25 and got 4 years left in law school.
You'll be alive in the next 5 years so why not. You are not old. I'm 49.
If even 1/3 or 1/2 the population listened to and took on board what this man had to say, then the world would be so much better.
Thank you that you are there for me
What I, and many others truly need to live the life we're supposed to live, and be the person we're supposed to be, Is Jesus Christ in our lives and hearts. Happiness follows quickly after accepting Christ as our one and only savior ❤
Not to forget voices such as Jordan Peterson, who ultimately turned me into a better path. The first clip I remember seeing of Jordan, hit so hard it has helped change everything I used prioritize.
Thank you for not making this an absolute blanket statement
I used to be religious and am no longer because it did not make me happier not lead me to live the life I’m supposed to
I understand that for many it does so even though I disagree with you I won’t condemn you and I really just wanted to thank you for understanding nuance
Just amazing,
He helps us to bring jems from ourselves...by deep driving into ourselves
I had front row VIP meet and greet tickets to see his show, and couldn’t find anyone interested in going.
Still kicking my butt over it!
Thank you for your dedication, you are great.
Saw internet dad this week live. Inspiring
You make things very clear for me to see and i appreciate that 🙏
You have to respect your down times and learn to pick yourself up and grow from those times. Look in the mirror every day and admit your failure to yourself, acknowledge your success. Forgive yourself for your mistakes and allow yourself to see you proud of yourself. Say out loud while looking in the mirror "I love you ." This is something that has helped me in my growth.
Long live Prof. Jordan Peterson
