    Hey there,
In this video I take a look at Boundery EBULB emergency LED light bulbs. At Walmart I purchased 1 for $10, they also had 4 for $30. These bulbs are good in the event of a power outage and can provide up to 3 hours of light. Check out my full review right here.

I bought the Boundery bulbs 3 years ago. Ive used them in multiple rooms/lamps and through several outages with no problems. The didn't come on automatically, but i didn't expect them to. Going in to year 4 with 6 bulbs and very happy.

Great idea. Might put in one lamp in each room so if power goes off I could have light in each room if I need a light. We often lose power during storms.

Thanks for reviewing both bulbs, Jeff. I received the Boundery EBULB in an emergency kit after attending an Emergency Preparedness Workshop in my community and was so excited that I purchased the JackonLux bulbs for other rooms. My package of two JackonLux bulbs came with TWO adapters, so I think you have a quality control issue and should contact customer service for another adapter. These were so easy for this little old lady to install. My only problem was finding a standard socket to use. I actually had to purchase a new lamp.

We bought the Ebulbs directly from Boundery last year. We put 3 in our dining room light (even though there is a caution on the bulb not to use is a multi socket fixture. Last night we had our first power outage since getting the bulbs. One out of the 3 lights in the dining room fixture came on. I took the other 2 out and tried them in the little hanging device and they didn’t work. So I will put those 2 in lamps to get them charged. This was a good test because the power was only out for an hour. We live in SW Florida and bought them to have if we lose power for longer.

The thing I read on Amazon was a complaint the eBulb did not come on automatically which if you consider they give you a switch in the box to screw onto the base. The reason it worked in your bathroom power outage test is the base in the box is wired securely on good quality wiring.
Classic lamp sockets are notorious for having metal fatigue over time and in fact sometimes operate with a low arch.

  • @ericlawrence9060
    @ericlawrence9060 3 роки тому +1

the switch problem is due to your house having the CORRECT wiring. most are wired wrong (like mine) and there is that property that signals full (breaker type) power outage. Your wall switch totally isolates the capacitor effect meaning your wall switch and / or wiring is totally isolating and does not allow that faint 60 hz capacitor effect of the air gap.

Yesterday, I watched an ad done by Boundery and the presenter brought up a very interesting fact about the operation of the light. She indicates that the bulb should not be used on a multiple bulb fixture. Also, in any lamps that all populate the same multiple outlet power strip. She said something with regard to its ability to know of the loss of power was due to an outage or the fixture. I’m sorry that I didn’t get the specifics but, I know it had to do with linked bulbs in the two circumstances I mentioned. I’m going to see if I can find the link to it on Facebook. If I’m successful, I’ll post a link here for you! Wish me luck!

If used in a lamp you need to have the 2nd plug also in use so the circuit can be completed. Also, I have used it in a multiple bulb fixture and it worked fine. A lot depends in the wiring in the house. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

So I bought 8 of the EBULB online. More than $10 each. Anyway, we charged the bulbs and noted the date they were fully charged on the individual boxes. When I was done charging them all I went back to the first ones charged 2 months previous...... tried to light them up. Dead. They lose their charge?? Thus, I'm thinking you have to leave them in lamps until you need to use them. Don't charge and put in boxes. Would appreciate any feedback.

I just found you today. Great review! All your stuff is hyper-interesting! This is one of my top two or three favorite channels now! That's a super-nice feature where you can leave the bulb in the socket and, in event of power out, still have power without removing the bulb, and just by using the wall switch. I definitely will get one or two of these. Our friends in California should consider something like this also, because of all the rolling blackouts they are having out there.

I think I figured this out in a lamp that just has two prongs a neutral and a hot... It doesn't work. But like the bathroom lights and the overhead lights that are wired direct into the house have the neutral the hot and then the third ground I think that's what makes this work properly...never thought I'd say this I can't wait for the power to go off so I can try it lol.. keep up the good work

This must have a lithium ion battery, so one has to wonder what electronics monitor the battery charge. Ideally the battery should stop charging and then recharge when it drops to a preset amount like 75%. I would be concerned that in a few years the bulb mat still work but the battery lasts much less than 3 hours. How often does the power go out in your area? If it is frequent iy might be worth getting 2 or or 3 of these for the bathrooms. It is big bulb also. If you have infrequent power outages, probably not worth it. Does this use more energy than a standard LED bulb? That would be a good test.

I have 12 of these. Installing them after I watch some vids.... Trying to determine if they go on even if the light switch is off. There is an artifact of some wiring that even when the switch is off it will detect if the wire has certain residual energy. There is a Vsauce video about that and some other ones. I can provide a link to it if you want.

I bought 10 Boundary E Bulbs. I'm not sure if mine are faulty or using them incorrectly. At first I put them in light fixtures so that when the power does go out I would have illumination where needed. After a period of time ( days later 5or so) they would start flashing. Removed ebulb from socket they continued to flash had to put them in a room and close the door because the bright flashing was extremely annoying. So I am not able to leave them in a socket I am wondering if they get overcharged or the flashing is an indication that they are fully charged so I keep them in a closet for unexpected outages. I had not charged them for 4 months had a power outage and they did still work

I just found this video. I bought 3 Ebulbs initially charged them and used them until they went dead. I recharged them in a regular light socket (turned on) for over 8 hours. Now, NONE of them work. The bulbs, however, still light up when I put them in a regular light socket, but not when I screw it back into the hanging socket it came with. Any ideas? Thank you!

I am so glad I am not the only one who has had this problem. I bought mine directly from Boundery over a year ago. When they arrived in a flimsy plastic envelope, 5 of the white plastic bases were cracked. NO padding or protection at all! None of the good bulbs I have tried so far have worked as advertised. They are too tall to fit in my lamps so there is only one lamp in my entire house that I can use these with, other than bathroom fixtures like he used. Even after charging for 8+ hours, they never come on when the power goes out or when I put them in the cap with hook. As a normal light bulb they are ok but for the price I paid, it should work as advertised. 😡

Switch off and the backup lamps light. Unscrew the regular bulb and the backup lamps go out. You can use multiple backup lamps in a fixture and it works fine as long as that's the only kind of lamps in the fixture.
