You are the only one who ever explained what the extra piece with the hook on is for. My bulbs came with no instructions at all. Thank you for your video
Just bought 2 of the bulbs. I love them. Put each in a light fixture. About 2 hours after I plugged it in, my power went out (perfect timing right). Wa la the new JacksonLux bulbs lit up. I ordered from Amazon and 2 little adapters.
You get extra credit for saying "it was not tied up with string" just as my brain was asking that musical question, making this video one of my favorite things.
We live in North Carolina and can suffer through power outages from hurricanes occasionally and I think these would definitely be beneficial in emergency situations as a temporary lighting source, thanks for the review.
I have these types of bulbs all over the house. I am actually in the process of reviewing another kind....pretty cool. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
We bought another brand to carry with us camping in case we were unable to hook up to electricity. Works great! We recharge them in lamps in bedrooms at home.
I have these throughout my home. Not every bulb but about half of them is enough to light the house in a power outage. I've been doing alot of electrical Upgrades and when I turn off the breaker it's nice to know they work but also makes finishing the job super easy. I also have them on my porch light too and when the power went out once I had a neighbor come over and ask me if my power was out. I was the only light on the street that was on. So that's cool.
Hi thanks for the review. I bought these from Amazon $17.99 and mine came with 2 chargers. I was a little confused about how to charge them but thanks to your review now I can charge them. So once again thank you.
Wow hey Jeff thanks for this video. We just received our first order of these yesterday and I gotta say I'm impressed. These work exactly as advertised and that's nice because we dove in and bought an 8-bulb set from BrightLiving - 4 each of the Soft Whites and Daylights. Came with 4 of the plug squares and 8 of the screw caps. Took a bulb and the instructions to work to mess with and showed coworkers the lamp trick and the carry-around/hanging bulb. Probably sold a couple for the company last night, haha. They were as tripped as Wife and I were. LOL and like you, the lamp I had was a smaller one and the bulb rose glaringly over the shade, haha. Prolly best to get a big set like 8-10 to keep in one place as charged standby's for the ones being used in the lamp(s). Again, thanks for the review.
I watched this video last week and ordered my pair right away from Amazon. Love them and the 'fun' factor is great. Really got the kids. BTW they came with two plug things.
Thank you for the review and clarification on how to charge the bulbs. Printed instructions are not real clear. Also, you'll be glad to note that I received TWO (2) of the plug covers with my two bulbs. The company must have listened to you, Jeff! :)
I'm late to the party but I have a similar bulb with a backup. They are amazing. They have a switch on the side instead of the little adapters. I use them in several overhead lights. Bath room, hallway living room. So if power goes out still have some lights through the house. No problem with them turning back on when I switch them off as some people have complained about.
Thank you for this review. I bought two of these from Amazon. The instructions were very confusing and I almost gave up and then lo and behold. I saw your video unboxing. Excellent the instructions really don’t tell you what the little plug thing is for so when I saw your video, it was very helpful. I think this will be helpful but you won’t know unless you test it out like you did or in the middle of a emergency and it’s too late then to see how long the light will power up.I am hoping that I can test it out as well prior to an emergency
I really like these bulbs. I recently reviewed another brand (had same item number printed on it). I found that these can be placed in ceiling lights and will automatically work when power goes out. Pretty cool. Check it out here if interested: ua-cam.com/video/ws8zlyL2EI8/v-deo.html
I ordered these a while back but have not needed them. Actually I didn't know I needed to charge them. I'm glad I watched your video. When I opened the box I had two of the plug-ins. I suppose it was an error that you received only one. Thank you for the video. I'll subscribe to your YT page.
Hi, Jeff...This is actually a pretty cool product. Just the other night, my lights went out, and I just lit a few candles and used my laptop (with it battery) until the lights came back on about a half an hour later. These would be perfect for getting through what is usually just a brief power outage. I also like the fact that you can use them with your lamps, just as regular bulbs...Thanks for the review, my friend. By the way, FYI...Keep your old phone when you upgrade. You can keep the old phone charged and you always have a very bright flashlight when you need one, plus the light lasts for a good while on a full charge.
i bought 6 battery powered lanterns & they work great. bright led lights you can dim or make bright reading light & ive used them over 2 years of a few power outages during the hurricane/storm season with the same batteries in them & they still work bright as ever. i'll stick w. that. thanks so much for the video testing. now i know.
I just bought today 3 Living Glow rechargeable LEDs at a resale place. They were loose in a bin of mixed lightbulbs but stood out b/c they had the end hook attachments. They were marked $3 ea. but my senior discount was 50% off so the 3 cost me $4.50 vs $9! SCORE! I had many empty of realize these were in ghe (extensive) store. Let’s just say they were very envious of my find. 😌 I didn’t realize they were rechargeable! only found that out when looking them up online. Unfortunately, this brand I bought appears to be only sold thru HSN so I’m considering another brand. I saw a video on one that you could dim up/down several steps AND have a bright white or warm setting! 🙌 That was adjustable by pressure on a spot on the side of the bulb’s base. More features than other brands but apparently takes 10 hrs of charging (worth the features, IMO). I might buy some of these extra ‘fancy’ ones and also the basic ones that take less time to charge (yours was 6 hrs, I believe) just to make sure I was covered in emergencies & camping. I just took a basic electrical class at that resale warehouse today & discovered the socket in my dark & puny 1947 house got fried when trying to use an LED light in it. Now, instead of having to pay an electrician to require it, I can just hang this up in my closet! I thought since it has the in bottom on the hook part, I’ll attach it to something stretchy so I can pull it down to turn on/off but it can retract upward otherwise. A $1.50 score that solved having to hire a pricey electrician to fix it! Yeah!
Great idea. It makes your neighbors wonder why you still have lights on during a power outage. Use one as an emergency porch light. This brand seems to be short on battery life. Some others are dimmable and have remotes.
Thanks, I just got pkg w/no instructions on how to recharge. Or what the light white box with power outlet looking like slots were for. Video, so helpful!
Jeff you don't need the plug if you're keeping the lamp in the same location, it will work plugged into the wall socket as long as there's no power. It's so you can can "trick" a lamp into thinking it's plugged in so you can take it to another room like the bathroom or kitchen and set it on any surface even if there's no outlet nearby.
I found out more info when I reviewed a similar bulb. I put them in a ceiling light and when the power goes out - they still work. Pretty impressive. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
We are about to have a snow storm in Virginia and I went to get mine in case I need it. But the charge had ran out and I thought it would be useless until I just found you on UA-cam. You taught me how to recharge it so Thanks 🙂
Put the bulbs in lamps you use all the time like in the den. That way the bulbs are always fully charged and ready for power outages. I love them and call them my “magic bulbs”. I have them in my bedrooms too.
Less than two hours run time, 90 minutes. But it will get you through a little 1 hour black out. If you wire up 4 of them to solar panels, you got light for most of the night, all for 'free' .
They now sell them at walmart (different name but the same item - Boundery) I bought them for every room in my house...very convenient. thanks for sharing.
They heard you, Jeff….i bought 2 of these about a year ago and they each came in their own box with description, etc. and the little plug thing. However, it does not say whether it is day or night. But it says it will provide back-up for 3-4 hours. Thank you!!
I was planning on buying a few but changed my mind since you have to take out the bulb for it to work or use the adapter. 2 hour usage isn't long enough. What I've been using are those General Electric brand motion detector lights, that can be set to constant on or movement alone. I used them in my RV in the desert and they stay on forever.
I use these bulbs and wouldn’t be without them! I call them my “magic bulbs”. I first saw them (or a similar brand on Tv) so I decided to get me some. I put them in my two table lamps in the den and turn lamps on all day and use normally. This keeps them charged up. Takes about 8 hours to charge. One time our town had a terrible rain storm, lightning, wind and rain. We lost power in the city for almost 5 hours. All my neighbors lights and street lights went out! But mine stayed ON! I bought two more boxes (4 in a box) and gave two to each my daughters. They didn’t believe me that they would work. But next storm when we lost power their lights stayed on. I put bulbs in my bedroom night lamps. But you have to use the lamps so bulbs stay charged. I can’t say enough about these bulbs and won’t be with out them. I’ve given bulbs to my neighbors. I told my cousin about them who lives in Florida. She bought them and said during their last bout with hurricane they weren’t left in dark, the magic bulbs saved them from darkness! Everyone get them!!
I just bought two sets..each set has 6 bulbs for $29.00 + $3.50 for S&H from HSN home shopping network. I got a 1 set of 6 bright bulbs and a 1 set of 6 softer light bulbs. It's odd because I don't normally watch the shopping channels for fear of buying til I'm broke..lol..but true. I live in Florida and don't need to tell you why we need this so bad. I couldn't be happier with them, if we go through a hurricane and the lights are off for days..we're all set..I was channel surfing and happen to see them. I couldn't be happier with them. I did notice they are from different manufacturers..the one's I got have a Smart chip in them that can detect a power outage as soon as it happens and activates the bulbs battery..it can also tell the difference between a power outage and if you turn your light switch off or unplug it..It also has a dimmer switch...perhaps it's only in the bright or daylight bulbs...I haven't opened the other package so I don't know yet. I was amazed they arrives in three days. Thank you for the review? I was looking to see if I was charging them properly and found you. Definitely a new subscriber..
Just got 4 bulbs with 4 plugs included. Think they will really help just to be able to function with everything goes dark for a while. Still not clear on really what the purpose of the plugs are as it seems you don't need them if the bulbs are charged already. Perhaps to keep them on for a while if they are not recharged, not sure.. Anyway, think they are a good deal to help out for a while.
My thought is if you have the bulb in a lamp and you want to have light in another room you can carry the lamp with the little plug attached. That way it will stay lit. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Hi I love your videos, I live in California and the city is always doing maintenance shutting off our Electric, I hate sitting in the dark. These Light bulbs are Great!!! I mean, they lit up my house like the electric never went off. They will only last 3 hours each fully charged. But I put one in every room of my house. Bathroom, living lamps, kitchen, Bedroom, add the charged laptop for watching a few movies, what lights are off. They work great. The soft light bulbs in the house, day outside or garage, front door. Hope this comment helpful. Do you know of another way to watch movies without electricity?
OR, get a used UPS for next to nothing and hook it to a new deep cell batteries. people just throw these out after a couple years ,when the battery dies. The stock size batteries are cheap on line. With the correct Gage size wire and a fuse ,you can hook it to a bigger battery, so it will run a LONG time. Even add a solar panel. These USED ups are everyplace [ like the dump/ side of road/ second hand shops], and are handy to have around. Throw a handle on it and you have some portable power. Ones you find free or cheap are usually about 100-300 watts. that will run LED bulbs a long time with just the regular battery.
The E bulbs I had plugged into my lamps work great but when the electricity goes out they don’t work not even with the attachments, the one lightbulb I had in the box that I had charged works just fine with the attachments.
Excellent product learnt from u that it only charges when switched on. On question please if u used all the time with power Will it over charge the battery whereby the battery gets damaged
Maybe they forgot to put my other one in...I another review of these type of bulbs (same bulb with a different name) I found that if you use them in a ceiling light they will still work in a power outage...pretty neat.
@@Jeffreviews4u lol.. yes I get that luck at times as well! Btw.. since getting these lights... I came across another awesome light. It's a rechargeable (usb) . It's called Big sun, model Q953. It's handheld with a small built on tripod. It lights from front and or the side. It lasts for 28 to 32 hours per charge. I bought 2 from Amazon. I put one in my chicken coop over night. From 6 pm until 7 am. It was still bright when I went in the. It sets upside down on the tripod and It fits my regular tripod. They way outlast these light bulbs if you need a longer alternative. 😁😎
I bought four...2 never worked. I have had them a while and just found out . I was not a happy camper. I tried charging them again when the lights came back.
👉 I will like to add to your demonstration of the Rechargeable 💡 Bulbs. The 💡 Bulb can be screwed into your house / wall socket also and it works really well and is always kept changing once used as a regular light 💡 Bulb. If power goes while the 💡 Bulb was on, it will remain on and give you light for about 3 hrs +, however if power went and the Bulb 💡 was off, all you have to do is flick your light switch on and you will have light for about 3-4 hrs. No need to remove the Bulb 💡 from the wall socket, just use it as a regular Bulb 💡 and save electricity at the same time, because it a 9W Bulb 💡 that puts out 60W of light, so you save electricity. 👍
8 hours to charge and will last about 3 hours. I agree, if they lasted longer that would definitely be an improvement. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
If you turn the lamp off to go to bed, does the bulb stay lit as if the power went out? Or is there a way it senses that the power is still on but you turned it off with the lamp on off switch? If you can't turn the bedroom lamp off when you want to sleep do you have to take it out of the socket to switch it off? It doesn't sound so great if you need to modify it to get it to shut off when you turn the lamp switch off.
I got two plugs with mine. The screw on attachment works to hang off a lamp when the lampshade is not big enough to screw in the bulb. I'm wondering how long a charged bulb stays charged if you just store it in a closet until needed.
I'm sure it is like other batteries that will need to be charged over time. I find it easier to fit in a lamp or light socket that I will use so they stay charged. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I may be wrong but you can probably just put a wire across the plug in of the lamp and get the same affects as you would using that little plug in thingy.
I just got some but a different brand. I don't know how you would consider these useful in a power out situation. They don't last long enough. You would be better getting a battery powered light with rechargable batteries. Charge batteries off of a solar generator.
I have found a few different brand names on these lights but they all have the same item number...pretty interesting...Short power outages, these are beneficial. If the power outage lasts more than a day you will need a way to charge them during the day. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
They need to be charged first. They only work well for a short time and will need to be charged again. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
The little plug is just a connection piece to make the lamp think it is plugged in. It does not require a charge. Just the light bulb needs to be charged. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Screwed them in socket to charge. After charging, turned off at wall switch. Lights stayed on. Didnt want them on at that point. What am I doing wrong.
It's nothing you did wrong. I talked with an electrician friend of mine and he said it also depends on how your house was wired. From what I understand some houses have wires that go to the light then the switch where other houses have the wire go to the switch and then the light. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
It seems like it would be awesome for a quick fix, but not if you loose power for an extended period of time. Too bad there is no way to recharge them (solar). Too bad they have to be in a electric socket to charge.
The whole point of these lights is they can be left in the lamp or overhead fixture and they actually DO work when the power goes off. Yes, they can be removed from the lamp and used with the little white bases, but why would I want to do that during a power outage when I have dozens of flashlights? Why would I want to fiddle around in the dark and unplug a lamp to plug in the little white things during a power outage? Do you have a video where you correctly show how these actually do work during a power outage? They're ingenious.
I leave mine in the overhead light and I am happy with them. I wish they would last longer but maybe that will be in an upgraded model. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
If you leave them in with the rest of the bulbs in a switched lighting circuit, I issue they will switch of with the others. Just a switch. So it can differentiate between a power outage and just being asked to stop providing light, while the house power is still hot?
Is there a way to get more of those adapters? I have 4 of the bulbs. and if I want to use them have to use the screw on adapter . I like the idea of the one that goes on the power plug.
You don't mention how to recharge the small plug that was included in the box. If you connect that small plug to your lamp, how long will it last? What happens to the plug when it is dicharged.
Check out their upgraded bulbs, now with longer run time: ua-cam.com/video/XiYUa925zEw/v-deo.html
A friend just gave me a bulb & I'm totally impressed. I know it'll come in handy when the electric goes out.

What I've been using are those General Electric brand motion detector lights, that can be set to constant on or movement alone. I used them in my RV in the desert and they stay on forever.
I have this exact set and yours should have cone with 2 of the plugs. Mine did.
I have them. I love ❤️ them. In fact I gave people in my neighborhood one.
Well I recently got one and I use it when I walk outside in the yard at night in poorly lit areas to do laundry
I AM GONNA GET SOME OF THESE LIGHT BULBS!!!!
They are pretty sweet! Let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I'm off grid. That's exactly what I need thx
Glad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Gracias thio - saludos desde RD me lo explicó como si fuera un niño de 2 años perfecto 👌 excelente amigo gracias
I bought them to use camping I liked them I wish there was a better way to charge them and they last a little longer but over all impressed
I agree, I wish the battery lasted longer too. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I have 2 plugs that came in the box and 2 hangers 2 bulbs. Clearly whomever packed your box can't count lol
Lol. I ended up not even using them. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
I have two, they are awesome!
Wow...thanks for sharing your experience with these lights...they are convenient! Have you looked into power banks? Have a great day and stay safe.
This was a great idea
Lol💡 thanks for taking the time to comment.
Got 2& have not tried to charge on a lamp.
We have far too many power outages & just though they would be a good idea.
I just bought one (it costed about $1.80 for a 28w) and wondered how to charge it then I stumbled upon your account and now I am subscriber
Wow - that's the deal of the day. Thanks for sharing and for the support!

I use mine in dark closet,I hang it and I dont use it much and when it goes low i recharge it.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Have a great day and stay safe.
Doug, how long do they last before they go out?
@@jkco4300
If you leave it on continuously it last about 3 hours.
I hang mine in a closet and only use it while I use the closet
@@dougsaxty2671 thank you Doug!
The E bulbs I had plugged into my lamps work great but when the electricity goes out they don’t work not even with the attachments, the one lightbulb I had in the box that I had charged works just fine with the attachments.
I just got a box of four and four plug caps were included. Ordered them for a spot in my house that has no power outlet.
Let me know what you think of them. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
No u don't have to use that just leave in lamp and thats it no unplugging nothing it stays on if power goes off I love it
Great thanks for explaining in detail!
Happy to help! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Excellent product learnt from u that it only charges when switched on. On question please if u used all the time with power
Will it over charge the battery whereby the battery gets damaged
I use mine all the time and so far they have still worked during a power outage.
I put them in overhead light receptacles in the garage, but every time I turn the lights off, they came back on under battery power.
From what I have heard that happens because of the way your light is wired.
Loop an elastic around the plug adaptor and hook other side to the lamp cord or glue a small tab of Velcro to loop around the cord
That's a great tip! Thanks for sharing.
Mine just came and had two plugs. I got two boxes of 2 bulbs each and both boxes had 2 sockets and 2 plugs.
Maybe they forgot to put my other one in...I another review of these type of bulbs (same bulb with a different name) I found that if you use them in a ceiling light they will still work in a power outage...pretty neat.
Yes, I also received 2 of everything. 😊
@@iloveschicken6527 I guess I'm the lucky one- lol.
Takes 8 hours to charge probably last only 8 hours if it lasts maybe 24 hours that be a great product on an 8-hour charge
I'm having same problem.
@@Jeffreviews4u I've now tested it out. Stays for about 3 or 4 hours and maybe a few more very dim hours.
Omg this is amazing!!!
I may be wrong but you can probably just put a wire across the plug in of the lamp and get the same affects as you would using that little plug in thingy.
I got one and love it
I just purchased these bulbs and I had 2 adapters.
Dat UA-cam throw pillow flanked by a Bills cap, tho ✅ 🤙🏻… I do wonder how difficult it would be to DIY this using powerbanks
Could I put these in "fake" sconces that hang on the wall or do they have to have some sort of current to work? Ty.
They need to be charged first. They only work well for a short time and will need to be charged again. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
@@Jeffreviews4u how long is short time?
@@FinehomesofNewHampshire 90 minutes under bright light.
I have had mine in for 17 months for 3 hours each night. They worked great but have now gone out. Didn't last the 25,000 hours they said they would.
That stinks - thanks for sharing your experience!
Nice review
I appreciate the feedback! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
i bought me 4 blubs like that. They are awesome. Only wish they would make them in solar..
Just bought 4 from Wal-Mart. I used one for 15min and it went out already. I don't know if it was worth the money.
Only lasted 15 minutes after an 8 hour charge? Sounds like a dud. Maybe you can exchange it. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Probably wasnt charged all the way
How do you charge that little plug in device
The little plug is just a connection piece to make the lamp think it is plugged in. It does not require a charge. Just the light bulb needs to be charged. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I would like to know if the little charger need to be recharged or is there a way to recharge that small piece
That small piece is only a connector that complete the current...nothing to charge.
@@Jeffreviews4u thanks :)
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
did u check the box for the other little plug thing? like under the bottom bits?
I did. I'm ok with it since I don't use that piece. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
It seems like it would be awesome for a quick fix, but not if you loose power for an extended period of time. Too bad there is no way to recharge them (solar). Too bad they have to be in a electric socket to charge.
Correct...if the power goes out we use them sparingly.
@@KH-sl2ju If you're asking a question, I don't follow it.
Is there a way to get more of those adapters? I have 4 of the bulbs. and if I want to use them have to use the screw on adapter . I like the idea of the one that goes on the power plug.
I had the same question too...i looked on Amazon and didn't see any. If you end up finding one let me know. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Fun fact... You can just use your hands...
@@seanbouker this is true. Thanks for sharing.
It's only charged by being placed in a lamp with the electric on? How is it getting energy?
From the power when it's plugged in.
You don't mention how to recharge the small plug that was included in the box.
If you connect that small plug to your lamp, how long will it last? What happens to the plug when it is dicharged.
Are you to use these as your every-day bulb? Or is it charge it then store it away and use as needed?
I have them in spaces where I use them every day. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I wonder if anyone caught your reference to brown package and string , lol
