  • Mechanimations returns with "It's Worth it", a full rebuild of a 1993 KX250 2 stroke dirt bike engine done with stop motion animation.
    "It's Worth It" is the result of approximately 500 hours worth of work and contains somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 unique photos. It ups the game from previous Mechanimations videos to include a storyline, characters, and an original film score. It's not a tutorial, but you might learn something from it. If you don't learn anything I think you'll still be entertained. And if this video makes you want to go spin a wrench then I've achieved my goal, and the effort was worth it.

    Original film score by Nicholas Alan Nelson, who I can't thank enough.

    Race Tech came through for me once again! The engine department did the meticulous and precise work on the cylinder and head. For more info on Race Tech Engine Services: bit.ly/3gDyVzG
    I'm happy to have worked with Wiseco on this video project as well. I love their engine components and was happy to have their piston as the star of the show. www.wiseco.com/

    I love how he gave the pistons such character. Especially how the new wiseco didn't want to do the rebuild at first and the old piston was like no, you have to do this. This is honestly the inspiration I need to rebuild my old kdx220 that blew up a few years back.

    • @Mechanimations
      @Mechanimations  3 роки тому +13

      I took that idea, the "refusal of the call", from the hero's journey story template. Other elements from the hero's journey are meeting the mentor (the manual) and finding allies (the tools). There is so much more I had wanted to do with the storyline and characters, but I had to finish this thing at some point 😂
      I love hearing that my work has inspired people. Go dive in on that KDX, it's worth it.

    For any amateur who thinks they should "rebuild an engine"? Think again. With ALL the parts, tolerances and techniques need to disassemble and reassemble an engine? If you don't understand THAT particular engine and in general don't understand how parts to that engine function? Your bike will NEVER run. Forget a ring, a washer or simply torque it incorrectly? You'll be taking it to the shop...

    Hello, i recently bought a 93 Kawasaki KX250 as a project rebuild! The bike only came with the bottom end of the engine. I have little to none of experience when it comes to rebuilding dirt bikes. Could you offer any information about top ends such as parts needed to complete it? & i know for sure that the bottom end needs a rebuild itself.

    • @Mechanimations
      @Mechanimations  3 роки тому

      I'm sorry I'm 3 months late responding to this. If you haven't found it already, you can find a PDF of the kawasaki repair manual online for free. It covers some things the Clymer manual doesn't, while the Clymer manual is more thorough in some areas. Either one should give you a good run down of doing a rebuild. A manual, online parts diagrams, Ebay, and some patience will get you there. Hope you've made some progress!
