Dio is an all time great. Small man, MONSTROUS voice.
Yeah most reactors don't notice that he was a smaller man, but if you just heard his voice you would expect a man 10 ft tall.
🥰
The only time I was ever lucky enough to catch him live was the Heaven&Hell tour when they brought it to NZ.
As a side note, I would love to know who was the drummer at that venue. I want to know what that vertical stack was.
He was so so great...not many did it like Dio...rip
I saw the Heaven and Hell Tour in Houston and they had vinny Appice playing drums at that time.@@Damoinion
It brings tears to my eyes to see younger generations really appreciating the music that was so important and such a huge part of my youth! Thank you for the validation!
Thank you very much too🥰🥰🥰
Yup, when he belts out that "Hoooooooooooooooome" line everything starts melting around him. Welcome to the wonderful journey that is heavy metal music.
😍😍😍
Yep. There are SO many gems like this among heavy metal, it never ceases to amaze me.
My phone melted. I'm writing this reply on a replacement phone but I made sure I paused the video before Ronnie got to that part !
I literally listen to that song just to nerd out to that! The change from a beautiful intro to that amazing belt is orgasmic!
Yes! The ground breaks up around you as you plunge straight to hell…
It’s always amazing to see young folks as yourself witnessing this great giant of a singer/performer. Just imagine living this in real time. I was blessed enough to see Dio live in rainbow Black Sabbath and his solo career. Rock n metal gave us all we needed musically and lyrically. RIP Dio. Gone but never forgotten. Thank you🤘
🌺🌺🌺
My sister snuck me into a Rainbow Concert, featuring Dio. In 1977. I was 12 years old. I WAS HOOKED ON DIO. I too have explained that experiencing RONNIE JAMES DIO, live, to me, is like seeing a Great White on the TV, compared to seeing one up close & personal, when cage diving. DIO WAS A FORCE OF NATURE!
First time I saw Dio was the Heaven and Hell tour. My mommy was working for Warner Bros and got me some tix for the show. Black Sabbath!! 🎶😃🎶🎶
Karin hicks. Great story. You snuck into a real rock show. 🤘I too caught the 77 tour. My sister took me. I was a tender 10 years old. Been rocking since I was 5 or so. 🤘
@@Frank-jf2jm I was 12 in 77. My sister also snuck me into see many of the metal greats. ALICE COOPER, JUDAS PRIEST, KISS, NEW YORK DOLLS, ECTRA. ROCK ON.
He's 40 years into his career at this point. One of the greatest of all time. Raise the horns.🤘
Hes not 40 yrs into anything, hes dead
@Abdullah Mohammady legends never die. Give RJD the Respect he earned.
@@brade5874, he was a fantastic singer, but he's dead now, doesnt stop People still apreciating his talent as a singer of course 👍
@@abdullahmohammady7568 - Brad said he was 40 years into his career “at this point” - meaning at the point that he performed at this venue and made the video she was watching. And yes, he has since passed. But he WAS ALIVE when he made this “at that point”…

Dio is one of the best male vocalist ever. He can sing so gently then explode in an instant. His range is amazing and belts out without struggling and was still singing beautifully up until the end, even with all he put his voice through, epic.
😍😍😍
dio is one of those unsurpassed legends. love this song. awesome reaction
Thanks so much
A testament to healthiness of his technique is that he performed with excellent voice all the way to the end, 53 years of singing performances in total.
🥰
You have a gigawatt smile:) Ronnie had some age here but he was unstoppable no matter. Rip Ronnie you will never be forgotten.
🥰🥰🥰
You were headbanging like a pro! I love that!🤘 Anybody who isn't moved by Ronnie's vocals needs to check their pulse. He had a great career and was a genuinely good person, from his interviews to the way he connected with his audience. Ronnie James Dio is very much missed. 😔🖤
Thanks so much Mr. Chris and for sharing too🌺
I heard that he had special mics made because he blew out the diaphragms in regular ones. He sang with such power.
😍
Me to hes voice is so powerful
It allways crack me up people never hear DIO...lot power in that voice
I was stunned first time I saw him
Could not believe that voice came from such little guy
DIO was amazing
😍🥰😍
The best male metal singer, right to the end. He never lost it.
This ICONIC METAL GOD, never lost sight of his fans, even when he was actively dying!!
😍
🌺
Mercury, Halford, Dickinson, Osbourne, Dio are Rock gods.
Forgot Ian Gillan
😍😍😍
The thing that always amazes me with Ronnie is how damn effortlessly he does what he does. Other singers have to lay every ounce of breath they can muster into it and he just does it without seemin one bit like it strains him.
😍
Nice to see you enjoy Dio so much. I hope you would react next to Rainbow - Mistreated live in Munich ’77. One of Dio’s most epic performances…
100% agree
Omg YES!! I was just thinking the same!
Definitely one of his best performances and my personal favorite, but I will say there are quite a few songs tied for that spot.
Thanks for your recommendation
By now I have seen several vocalist/reactors be amazed by the singing of Dio. Thanks to these reactions I’ve come to know his work better. I already knew he was an icon and a legend, but now I see what a bold, powerful and dramatic frontman he was. And also a very decent human being: he was once asked in a Q & A what made him the most angry, and he replied, “Whenever anyone abuses small children or animals.” I instantly knew he was a very good man as well as a great singer.
Thanks for sharing Mr. Matthew🌺
No one lasts as long as Dio, or Bruce Dickinson, or Rob Halford, without high-level professional vocal care and training. Between shows, tours, albums, etc., so much focused time is spent preserving and refining their voices.
Now, those are professional, dedicated, vocal masters.
Thanks for sharing Mr. Andy
Halford I couldn’t listen to at all just not into his voice
Well said!👍🏻👍🏻
Need to put Geoff Tate in there but totally agree!

Love how a classical student can still headbang..long live metal! Undeniably awesome!
🥰🥰🥰
Yes, one of my favorite singers, but how you noticed how he has a supportive sound, you're smart and obviously know music ❤
Oh thanks so much🥰🥰🥰
It's quite unbelievable that Dio was just raw talent and self taught practice with no formal training. He had a million techniques with his voice, and and incredible stamina. He could belt an E-vowel effortlessly, often while combining vibrato and distortion on his voice. Zero AutoTune since it wasn't even invented at the time. He had a very theatrical style of singing. He embodied the lyrics with his voice. I grew up listening to Dio and as a teenager I had posters of Dio on the walls in my bedroom :) Fun fact, he was the one who started the whole "Devils horn" hand sign which you'll see at every metal concerts these days. He once said he got it from his Italian grand-mom who used it as a kind of "ward off evil" sign.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share
Ronny James Dio was an awesome performer! His music was my all-time favorite in this genre.
🥰🥰🥰
Been lovin DIO since 1983 💜 he definitely tells a story with his vocals 3:47
Thanks so much for sharing💕
Watching the younger generation "get it" when it comes to heavy metal brings tears to my eyes. Thank you.
Oh thanks so much Mr. William
Ronnie was fighting stomach cancer and still preformmed
🌺🌺🌺
every time I see young people 'get it' with our gen X music, the heroes we had growing up....no internet, no cell phones, just music, this was our culture, and seeing young people 'feel' this music gives me a little hope for their future!
😍
Some will say he was the greatest singer ever for Rock and Metal. I'm sure not gonna argue. Watch the movie Dio-Dreamers Never Die. What an amazing life this man led.
Thanks for sharing
My late wife wanted to see dio he just happened to be close to us on this tour. So I wanted to surprise her and score some tickets it was hard it was before Internet but I found 2 tickets I'm not going to say what I paid you call me a fool😂 but Iu would walk through firey to make my wife happy. Misus you baby. U tickets stubs in photo albums. I miss concerts that was my generations social networking. 😅
Thanks for sharing
Balladic metal from the master. Truly one of the absolute greats.
😍
I love seeing that great big smile on your face. I had the same one when I first saw this man live in person. RIP Ronnie!!
Thanks Mr. Dave
Ronnie played a trumpet as a boy. Playing a wind instrument requiring strong breathing control could be the reason he had so much control of vocal range.
Thanks for sharing Mr. Keith
Dio the Elf with the Giant voice!!
🥰
This is why RJD is one of the godfathers of metal. He amazing. And he really appreciated his fans.
😍😍😍
The closest thing to Dio that I’ve heard since he passed is the family band Liliac. Their singer, middle child Melody Cristea, has a unique voice with a similar rasp. I highly recommend them, and they’ve covered this song at the request of Dio’s widow Wendy.
Hearing Melody belt Rainbow in the Dark will definitely catch your attention.
Thanks for sharing💕

I saw him I 91 I believe at a bar.. nightclub sing last in line album and holy diver album back to back, I stod right in front of him in the bar n imm 5"5" n I could look down at him in his eyes so I'd say he stood at 5"2 if that n I've seen 100's of live shows and he is the best hands down I've ever heard live.. Jeff tate being next. Best show I've ever seen!
Thanks for sharing Mr. Mike
Dio was such an amazing vocalist and from all the interviews I had seen from different people he was an all-around good person. HE would go out of his way for his fans. It is mind blowing that he had very little vocal training. One of his best vocal performances was the song Mistreated by Rainbow, the live version from 1977 in Munich.🤘
Many thanks for sharing
Great reaction to a great legend!!! Subbed when I saw this!! I have been listening to "The Master Of Metal" since I was a twelve year old little girl. I am now sixty-five and still listening to this magnificent man daily. There will never be another one like Ronnie to ever walk this planet IMO. He is the best vocalist and frontman to ever grace us with his presence! I loved him in Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio, and when Black Sabbath changed their name to Heaven and Hell. Such a fantastic rabbit hole to jump in. Looking forward to hearing more of him! R.I.P. Ronnie. You are sorely missed.
Thanks so much for sharing💕
Back in high school I've seen him live we called him the metal midget it was a term of endearment cuz we couldn't believe such a small guy had such a huge voice all my friends loved his singing
With almost no vocal training except breathing playing a trumpet. He came out of the womb with perfect pitch
🥰🥰🥰
You have an amazing talent, and the fact that you enjoy so many different genres is a credit to your musical aptitude
Thanks so much for your kind words🌺
Thanks for this! I'm still waiting for a reaction to Rainbow's "Mistreated" live in Munich '77; that song really shows the best of Ronnie IMO.
Thanks so much, i will put it on my list
You should really watch his live in London tour,he was 62 or 63 I believe ,his last tour before the cancer took his body but not his soul and legacy, his performance in the songs Don't talk to strangers and Rainbow in the dark was just phenomenal,R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio,The Godfather of Metal!🤟
Also around that time he did one last tour with Black Sabbath, do their show at Wakken, Heaven and Hell is the best version of that song I have ever heard/seen.
Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Marty🌺
With severe Deadly cancer, not on his prime, singing live for an hour songs that are not easy ballads
AND still Nailing it.
NATURAL TALENT at its BEST form
🥰🥰🥰
One of the best Metal singers of all time! Stargazer is probably his best.
Thanks for sharing
Shivers are running down my spine. Every time I hear this song, by the time he hits 'home' I am completely captivated
Thanks for sharing
He was battling cancer on this tour and gave it his all every performance! True professional! Younger generation take notes! Legends never die; they just ascend to a higher plane!! RIP RJD!!!
Thank you for sharing🌺
Arguably, Ronnie James Dio was the greatest vocalist of his genre. He’s always completely blown me away. I’d be curious to see you react to Nevermore’s song “Voyager”. The singer Warrell Dane was shockingly unique. He did things with his voice that I’ve really never heard anyone else do.
Thanks for sharing
Aaliyah is so sweet and delightful to watch!!
Awww thank you😍
Ronnie James Dio started in the late 50's singing pop, Evolved into a guiding force of heavy metal
Thanks for sharing Mr. Bill
\m/ \m/ This song was probably my first introduction to Ronnie James Dio, on my local classic rock station.
🥰
I loved the grit in his voice.
Thank you
I was lucky enough to meet Ronnie James after a show on Long Island...all I can say is the man was as gracious as he was talented...truth.
Thanks for sharing
Dio started out in the late 50's as "Ronnie and the Red Caps" singing teen love songs. He evolved with rock music through the hippy age, prog rock era, hard rock and metal. He is one of the legends of rock and roll.
😍
Back in 1998, so 25 years ago i met Ronnie on a cruise ship going from Helsinki Finland to Stockholm Sweden. I was working there as a black jack croupier. Ronnies comes to the pub, grabs a beer and sits down on my table. It was just me and him. We had a nice chat for at least half an hour. He was so nice to me and i really wanted him to win, but he didn't. Before he left he gave me his autograph. He wrote on his beer coaster. To Joni mr Magic, Ronnie James Dio. Nice memory to have with one of the greatest!
Wow thanks for sharing Mr. Joni
greatest metal, rock voice there ever will be simple as that

when dio and disturbed toured together, disturbed's singer, david draiman was so excited to meet his hero, dio... he went up to dio and asked about his vocal warn up technic and dio said 'if you have to up, maybe you don't have it" lol

in 2003 I got to see Dio, Motorhead, and Iron Maiden all on one bill there should be a law against that much awesome on one stage.... it was amazing.
Thats so wonderful, thanks for sharing Mr. John
mob rules was my first concert. dio/ black sabbath was on fire!!!!! you never forget you're first one;)!!!!!
🥰
This guy is a god to vocals he's like 5 "2 and can sing he's my top 5 singers good story teller to love this more dio
I believe Dio was 5"4 not 5"2.
🥰🥰🥰
@@sds4life17 I am 5 foot 3 inches tall and Dio was shorter than me. I had the pleasure to meet him twice.
praise to the abuela de DIO!!! #Horns 🤟
🥰
Dio was awesome. I love Dio doing A rainbow in the dark among many more.
😍
Dio is older here. And still he sounds so good.
You should react to him live in Black Sabbath performing Heaven and Hell from around 1980 i think. Their is an amazing live performance of that song on youtube
Great reaction😀👍
He is about 51 years old (Born 1942), actually the same age that i am currently. He was still going strong at this point, i personally think he peaked about 10 years earlier in the Holy Diver era when he was about 40.
@@Stefan- His actually around 55 on this video. This had to be 1998 during Angry Machine with Tracy G, I saw that show. Dio died in 2010 at 67 years of age so yes..I believe he was around 55.
@@sds4life17 No, this is from the official live DVD from Hammersmith Apollo in London in 1993, she even says that its from 1993 in the reaction video.
Thanks so much for your recommendation Mr. Martin
Your excitement is infection! Love Dio! You should also check out Deep Purple's live version of Child in Time.
Thanks so much, i will too
I remember when i bought the LP, back in the 80s. Went home and this song came up. I still gets the same smile and chills all over my body.. I miss him greatly. I saw him live in 2000. I was in the precens of greatness.

My favorite things about your videos are you curiosity in seeking out artists that I doubt you'd listen to otherwise, your enthusiasm, and your appreciation for talent that seems to me to be outside your wheelhouse.

Nightwish, Sabaton, Maiden, Sabbath/Dio, Metallica....turning Opera singers and vocal coaches into metalheads one at a time...
😍😍😍
A good example of Dio this, he just does whatever he bloody likes with his voice and we listen with our mouths open in awe. This was the last song of the set before encores.
Thank you🥰
Ronnie was an incredible talent..I saw him with Sabbath and as a solo...He always delivered...R.I.P. Ronnie...
🌺
I'm not sure when this was recorded, but I think he was pushing 60 around this period. To do the things he did at that time in his career is crazy. I was never a pro or serious about singing but was in the choire in my younger years and regret sort-of dismissing men like RJD as "the norm" for vocals. I think Dimash is the only guy I can think of that comes close to the masters of the 70s and 80s.
I see Tracy G on Guirars so and I'll say this was during Angry Machine Tour in 1998 so that would put Ronnie around 55 years of age. I personally saw that Tour so I believe this video is from 1998
Thanks for sharing
I saw him June 9, 1997 at the Embassy Hotel in London Ontario. Not sure why he was at that tiny little bar but there was only a couple hundred people there on a Monday night. Unadvertized last minute show. Unreal.
Thanks for sharing
"That's wonderful!"" Yes...Yes it is! :)
😍
Nice, he was great no matter if in ELF, Rainbow, Black Sabbath or solo, he always delivered. Try Heaven and Hell or Lonely is the Word from Black Sabbath, Dio shines on those songs (as does Tony Iommi on guitar). Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Vic
Dio makes you fearless,powerful
🥰🥰🥰
Incredible singer the first time i saw him was when he fronted Black Sabbath on the Mob Rules tour 1981
😍
Wow I don’t think I’ve seen this performance video. I remember the official video which wasn’t a live performance. That vocal part of repeating the lines real fast was like a vocal machine gun firing belts! Amazing!
😍😍😍
I love Dio's "Heaven and Hell" & "Gates of Babylon"
🥰
Ronnie sang with so much color and passion - apart from his flawless diction (which not many rock/metal singers can boast of), he was a masterful storyteller who used his vocal power to draw the listener into his web. A truly one of a kind artist - which is why he is loved by so many. I was blessed to see him once as a solo artist and once again with Heaven & Hell at the tail end of his life... and he was unmatched at both ends of his life.
Thanks so much for sharing🌺
We lost one of the great ones when we lost Ronnie James Dio.
Thanks for your reaction.
😢
Thank you!! I saw the Last in Line tour New Years Eve, 1984, in El Paso Texas. My first concert. It was incredible!! 😊😊
😍😍😍
To me is a joy watching a young and very talented woman learning about rock and metal music (which I grew up with btw). My question is, is it just to get to know it or are you really getting into it and we’re gonna have a classical singer addicted to metal? Cause that’ll be awesome! Keep up the good work Aaliyah! Espero verte triunfar como artista a ti también 😉
Maybe she'll be the first to make rock opera mainstream
Thanks for ur kind comment! I think the answer to ur question is both. I am getting into it as well as learning about it. 🌺
@D M I'm gonna look into them, since hearing all the different genre blending with Falling in Reverse, rock opera kinda cool with its highs and lows
@D M anything real and anything not mainstream
And at concert volume! He was so good, powerful, unique.
😍😍😍
Hello Aaliyah.
Ronnie James Dio is one of the best voices of heavy metal (for many fans is the best), and I feel very happy with your reaction, like ever.
And you look fantastic, like ever.
Bye, bye, and stand fine.

Feels like a long time since I wore this album out....oh s**t, I was 22 yrs when this came out in '84. But this was my favorite DIO song.
😍
Dio was later in his career here, but even older, he could do things with his voice that other singers could not do. You should definitely fall down the Dio/Rainbow/Black Sabbath rabbit hole, his vocals will amaze you.
He was still killing it at 65 on that last tour with Heaven and Hell (basically his reunion with sabbath)
Thanks so much Mr. David
He was much older here than when the song was originally recorded, it's not the original band members that recorded it and he still sound good.

I believe that Vinny was back playing drums with him by this point. Vinny played drums on Strange Highways and Angry Machines. Different bass and guitar players though.
listen to dio - an angel is missing- dio dio doo wop, and was really good at it- the elves- west virgina, he was lead on the elves- dude could sing anything- imagine going from doo wop to metal- he was a beast

I was able to meet DIO backstage during the Lock Up The Wolves tour. He seemed very direct, down to earth, extremely interested in talking about music first. My girlfriend asked him why he did not have dancers on stage, in my mind I wanted to bury my head and walk out. He responded exactly the way I thought "That is not what my band is about, and is not part of my music vision and message to my fans". The band was still dressed in there stage apparel, but DIO was casual just wearing White T-shirt Jeans. He seemed as though he enjoyed talking about the Business and Artistry involved in making music, very serous as though Music was the greatest achievement one could do in life.
Oh wow thanks for sharing🌺
Dio was my Introduction to Heavy Metal Music in the early 80s, I was very fortunate to have seen him Live 16x including with Sabbath! My musical Hero.🤘
