Honestly. This is a superb buy for any Amiga geek like myself. Enjoy 😀
Thank you so much for the video, Jamie!
and thank you for providing us Amigans with such a great setup.
Love Amikit on the P400 and P5..... If you don't have it, get it. Modern Retro Amiga experience.
100% I cannot reccomend it enough. It's also just had an update.
bought this 2 weeks ago and its the best amiga program to run on a pc, so easy to upload games and programs to it, yes installing it was so easy even a novice can do it works with my xbox wireless controller . its a 5 out of 5 star product
Absolutely. I am glad you are pleased with it, I am too. And of course there is soo much to do on it too. An absolutely 5/5 product for sure.
I bought AmiKit about a year ago, but upto now have not installed it. Will have to dig it out and give it a whirl. Great review Jamie. Thanks.
Hey, thanks very much. Anything C= related. I am very passionate about and put that little more effort into.
@@JustJamie1983 Just bought the XE version. For some reason it is not updating to the latest, so at 11.5 at the moment, till i figure it out. It is amazing what Jan has acheived doing.
@bilbobaggings OK. Is it over a year since you.purchaed it?
@@JustJamie1983 No. Bought it this evening.
@bilbobaggings ah I see.
This hurts my brain. Maube i need morning coffee. Consider that a 1p me n overview. Seems like this should be a number of focused parts. One topic at a time, like stage one-- lets install this for amiga use on a pc and dont mention other platforms. Stage two lets get the environment setup to do basics like get a browser going to download other things needed. Compartmentalize this into short but not to short for noobs.
I used my amiga to launch my career and it was an amazing run. Now I want get an Amiga going again and get a modernized amiga OS going on a modern computer. Im headed back yo the community, and im sure im not the only one, but the community is used to talking to the community.
My best friend and i started in 3D back in the 80s because of the Amiga. I regretted I sold mine when everthing in 3D shifted to PCs. My friend still had his 1000 and 2000 w gvp 030, 486 card and ither stuff. I still have boxes of software and peripherals. He just donated them to my little retro museum of a man cave / studio /office. I need to clean them up (ugh eww) but i at least have them now and in the coning months I'll get them going.
But as mentioned, I'd like to explore my emulation options. I have amiga forever (Cloanto?) and kickstart(?) rom files from about 2010 as i was experimenting with emulation on android. I dont recall it needing to check actual disks like this video said. I am sure i still have them (legitimately purchased)
Its tiugh to come back into this. I was very deep into it. Ive owned most Amiga models and my first studio job I had the other models, except 600, 1200, and CD32.
I had toasters in both 2000 and 4000. Par board and TBC for the 2000. Magneto optical like a mini cd in a case, and some high density floppy system too. All gone in early 95. I regret it. I was an early user of sculpt 3D line of products, Dpaint, lightwave, SCALA, and scads of other things. Even ran the Graphic SIG in Okinawa and my friend was the president of the huge amiga club that met every other week- hundreds of members. If not fir the Amiga I'd have not been able to pursue my carer goals. My last real job 3D job ended in '08 and last graphic stuff was games ending in '16. Now in an unrelated field looking forward to getting back into the amiga and 3D again (in modern pc software). The 3D world burnt me out.
I miss the magic of the Amiga. The glory days of computing as it was in its greatest rise in the 90s.
This is a doddle compared with some guides I have put together.
@@JustJamie1983 lol. I should lay off the phone keypad until I have had some coffee and rethink my choice to make a comment, or at least have enough senses to proof and chop it down.
@@JustJamie1983 I subscribed and plan to check out more of your videos as I get into this.
@SensibleChuckle yup, I get you 😀
It's fun that one. 👍
Thanks. 👍🏻
No probs. Hopefully that might give you something to think about.
Even though I was an Amiga nut for many years between the late 1980's and early 1990's, I find all of the ways to run an Amiga today completely confusing, including Amikit.
So what AmigaOS are you running within the Amikit you're showing us in the video? Is that Amiga OS 4.1? And do you then pay extra for it? And I still don't understand what the point of a "Flowerpot" is.
I am definitely interested in buying it (I already have an older and legal copy of Amiga Forever, so I have the ROMs) plus I only use Linux on PCs and Raspberry Pi. So I guess I need to buy the cheapest version for my Linux PCs and then the Pi version to run on Pi 5/400/4?
It's never clear what you need with modern Amiga!
Please watch the video again. I have also just uploaded a tutorial for this.
All the best.
