      You really need to plug it onto an oscilloscope, to see if that fog mode is any good, because if it with higher wattage and higher beam intervals, then it will be very useful for longer range, if the intensity on some of these aspects is higher... putting 905nm laserbeams true fog will always be a difficult things, so its more just a label, and should not take for valid, to an extent that common physics don't longer apply and it can go true intense fog.
      I got 3 rangefinders.
      1x600m 1x800m 1x1500m
      the 600m and 1500m are both with decimals and angles and height and all that jazz.
      the 600m is a Milesey PF3 as i recall i got from their store in 2016 for 52USD delivered (i been very impressed with that it has all the features that were present back then, angle, slope, height, speed, decimals., double lines values so you get both values on the display at the same time. and it aint locked so it could get reading up to around 900m or 850m)
      the 800m was the brand hawkeye from a Chinese WS seller called fasttech, but that was a bad experience, took many months and when it finally arrived it was not the black 1500m hawkeye model I had purchased as they listed and it said on my order and which paid for, but some entry white model called 800b and my PP time was out for all the transit time. so not much I could do, and the last time I ordered from Fasttech or recommend them.
      It only has 2 modes, normal and scan and no decimals or angles and very bad build quality with bad buttons with close to no click feedback.
      The lastest was 1500m model that you could purchase at around 84USD from one of these Chinese wholesale-stores EU stores in UK.
      Its no-name model, just listed as LR1500H, it also got decimals up to 999.9m after that full symbols.
      my next rangefinder I will look for one with stabilization and lid symbols and likely binocular style..
      I do got a couple of LPM meters for lasers, but since these rangefinders work with brief pulses of infrared laser light, these temp-tec based LPM cant take notice of the wattage, but would like to see if one could increase the wattage for a longer range..
      thx for the vid.

    I bought one , 80 quid , measured 3 distances 100 yards 15 yards and 40 yards , in clear bright daylight , put up 3 square grey Matt plates ,, all 3 readings were wrong , 2 yards out at 15 yards , that’s 6 feet , needless to say I returned the following day then waited 3 wks to get my money back ,, load of old bollox, paid 15 quid for a reel type measure with wind in handle , works 100 percent accuracy every time cheers shane uk 🇬🇧

    I have the same range finder just sold under a different name. I purchased mine off of Amazon almost 2 years ago and have yet to have any issues. Your Eyoyo AF-700L is identical to my Aofar AF-700L the features are no different and for the price you cant go wrong excellent addition to my air gun hobby does the job perfectly

    Great no-nonsense review (as always). Made a “rash” decision and bought one of these a couple of years ago off “eVilbay” - it’s brilliant. Using it for hunting with Centrefires under 400m (ethical hunting - I’m not that good a shot) and for Airgun shooting. No, it won’t Bluetooth to my iPad, doesn’t have its own WiFi network, doesn’t take 4k video or have a Ballistic calculator - it just tells me ranges (and accurately). 90% of the “Bells and Whistles” included with most available units will never be used by 99% of purchasers, so I found this to be a brilliant buy and its always with me when I’m shooting.

    I bought a Leica Range master back in 2008 and it's still going strong, never fails and almost always gives me a reading. I have seen my friends use all sorts of cheaper models and have all sorts of problems. The biggest issue being the LCD displays hard to read. The Leica just has a simple LED red dot and you can always see that..

      Yes only need about 100yds really although tried mine when I got it and it was ranging out to 600yds. The only downside with rangefinders is that they don't seem to like angles - like an angled roof or a wall that is at a sharp angle.I assume because the laser beam will bounce off at an angle instead of coming back to rangefinder. But full marks for your review Steve keep up the god work.

    I have Visionking Range Finder 6x25 Laser Rangefinder for Hunting Rain Golf Model 650 yards/600m. It looks like a Camo version of this and has worked well for me for over a year now. 620 yards is the furthest I have ranged just for kicks, it is hard to be steady enough to range that far free hand. I bought mine after seeing this video too, just came across it again so I decided to comment. Thanks

    I spent £35 on a 100yd laser tape measure off Amazon, works perfectly and seems more accurate than proper so called range finders... Yds, feet. inches, Meters, Cm, and you it will work out heights of targets and the size of your living room as well if you want...

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  6 років тому +2

      I had this thought too and tried it as I have a good one for home usage. It does not work. You cannot see the beam in the day light outside the house, trust me I have tried. And of course it only works to 100m or whatever the unit will do and in day light against a pigeon, you can not see the laser dot at 30m yet alone 50 - 100m. Forget this idea, it does not work and I have tried it.

    Great review I am waiting for mine now. I am going to use mine for hunting really to train my eye to judge distance better My rifle is flat shooting to 200m after that I need to judge range from 3 to 400 m problem is 200 to 400 I have terrible ability to eyeball it I figure use the finder for a while and that ability will naturally develop to a point where I can hunt without a rangefinder. I will use the rangefinder though when taking small game at long range.

    I bought one from Amazon in May 2018.
    A decent basic inexpensive range finder. A card that came with it stated when I register it on the Eyoyousa.com site I get an extra 6 months warranty coverage. I couldn't find how to do that on the web site. I even opened an account but still no way. I sent Eyoyo support an email about it haven't heard back from them yet. BTW the web site is not secure.
    Pros: Inexpensive compared to the name brands.
    Just a basic no frills range finder.
    6x25 magnification.
    Auto shut off after 20 seconds.
    Cons: Odd ball CR2 3v battery
    Display changes focus with the visual focus. So the display is blurry and light and hard to see if the focus is adjusted to the extremes.
    Doesn't calculate height or angle as the web site states.
    Doesn't display MPH just Km / h or M / S. I'm guessing M / S is meters per seconds.
    The flap on the soft carry case has a magnetic latch that is crooked. It also has a inner Velcro strap that runs vertically centered on the flap for some unknown reason. It would've been better if that Velcro was used to secure the flap instead of the magnets.
    FYI: Three days after I got it I noticed when measuring in Yards the display would jump from 10 yards to 12 yards in a very short distance. I believe the range finder actually measures in meters all the time and converts the meters to yards when you switch the display to yards. For example 1 meter is 1.0936 yards so 10 meters is 10.9361 yards and 11 meters is 12.0297 yards. At first I wondering why it was doing that and thought there was something wrong with the range finder. Then I remembered a meter is slightly longer than a yard. So you're not actually measuring in yards when you switch the display to display yards. You are reading meters converted to yards. That's very confusing at first.

    Hi Steve, Great review mate. On this i have purchased one exactly the same from ebay. Only one problem i have found with it is the focus. I have turned the focus ring all the way to the left for best clarity but its still not really that sharp focused and i do not wear glasses. Have you noticed a similar thing with yours or is mine a duffer. Cheers mate. Mark.

    Hi Steve; Thanks for your review of the rangefinder. I bought one but I am struggling to get the "scan" mode to operate. As far as the results that I am getting are concerned; the "scan" mode is operating exactly the same as the "range" mode. Any thoughts?

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  6 років тому

      Just played with mine, been sometime. The scan mode has the golf flag symbol and is used for range finding a golf flag stick. For shooting, use the range mode and press the button to get a range.

    • @dougcowie5983
      @dougcowie5983 6 років тому

      Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have no issues knowing what the scan mode symbol is, it's just that I can't get it to operate as I think that it should viz. scan across various objects and automatically update distances as the scan occurs. No dramas, the company is prepared to accept it back, it was just that I may have operating it incorrectly. Cheers anyway.

    I started out with one of these, I did a few preliminary tests and seemed to do the job... then got out in the field Hunting rabbit, have to say it gave me a very hard time, false readings, it repeated the previous readings and at times just failed to read (box cross hair flashing) so ended up pulling the trigger on the hawke 400 hunter so just waiting for arrival to a/b

      I assume you are adjusting the parallax to get the clear picture ? If so it is only an estimation and hence why people use range finders. Also every ones eyes are different and makes and effect.

      Adjusting parallax allows for the reticle to adjust for distance. If you are using that to get a clear picture, you are adjusting the wrong end of the optic. Generally, the diopter will be what you want to adjust to clear the image, the parallax is for distances.

    woulda been nice to see a comparison with hawke . my lrf 400 is like more tha twice the price , stinks in fog and light rain . they do have a hunter version now but the lrf pertains to be for hunting so if a unit cn do the same for 65 quids , Only thing is lrf are indestractable . having dropped mine ran it over in an electric scooter . the only thing that broke the last one was leaving it out overnight on the coldest night of the year then bringin it in and fireing it up in a very warm room .

      Would be nice, but don't have the funds to review everything. Sometimes a cheap range finder works just as well. I find that all range finders have issues in fog and rain to some extent due to the water particles bouncing the beams.
