I have just planted my 30 canes of raspberries. I love watching your videos, your voice is calming and I am learning a lot from you. I will keep on watching. I am looking forward to see what happens to your raspberries and your blackberries.
This is our second year for our raspberry patch. I've pinched back most of this year's growth for next year. Thanks so much for your videos. Such a help!
I am a big fan of black raspberries too, nothing beats red raspberries for preserves though. I also grow thimbleberries, dewberries and wineberries. Which type of black raspberries do you recommend? I have only had the wild ones. I subscribed
This is the first time l tried pulling the tips off my black raspberries, amazed at all the lateral branches that are growing, looking forward to next years berries!
Looks like it will be too warm for black raspberry variety that we have. However, never hurts to give a try never know what may happen. I have a lot of plants that are supposed to be hardy only to zone 7 and they have overwintered many winters and are thriving. Who is to say that the Jewel black raspberries won't do well in a hotter climate. We did find a variety that is supposed to do well in zone 9 it's called Rubus niveus.

We have a small patch, built a wooden frame around them and covered it with a 50 ft by 50 ft bird net we purchased from Amazon
Is it a Teutonic umbrella?
Do you suggest planting in zone 9A where it is in the 100's all summer here, or is it too hot to grow the black raspberry?

Autumn is considered to be the best time to transplant. if you don't get to it in the autumn, spring time will work as well
