I really like this channel, dude is smart, likable, and makes a nice video with a lot of detail and no stupid cliff hangers or drama. I also like that he doesn't talk bad about everyone and everything to try and make himself seem so smart, his work shows that.

I appreciate Alex showing the process of overcoming challenging issues. He doesn't just go from broken to fixed, making it look like he knows it all. He shows his thought process, each of his fails to fix and finally arriving at the solution. It encourages backyard mechanics to keep trying and how to go about problem solving. Not everything works out on the first try. Many thanks, Alex, for your honesty and integrity.

I would build the trans on stock GTR if it would be 2009 one. They were notoriously fragile to the point where Nissan voided warranty just for putting R mode and launching a car.

now i am, a retired tech and i am Nissan certified ,but not GTR certified and i highly recommend, following Nissan's fill procedure on the GT-R's DCT transaxle other wise over filling can and will lead to issues. I had the pleasure of watching one of our dealerships old master techs do this service and like all current Nissan transmissions it is involved much like doing a spill and fill on the CVT transmissions. as for why I never got GT-R certified i spent a lot of my career at a Porsche dealership and just didn't feel like dicking with high-end applications anymore also Porsche destroyed my hands after 14 years still good content glad you got your GTR dude maybe ill get mine sone day but till then I'm working on my C5R project when i have time :)

YT has suggested this video for quite a while now. - I just bought a 2009 GTR that was "well loved". LOL - So - I thought I'd give the episode a watch and I'm glad I did!
My car has over 125k on the body and, SOME? of the drivetrain. I have small amounts of info and know that at some point it was rebuilt from engine to trans etc.
There's still a lot of mystery to the car though and will take me a while to find out the particulars.
    700+ at the wheels. So obviously tuned. It's one of the greatest cars I've driven and I cannot believe it's 16 years old... (actually, amazing, is a great descriptor.) - I also have a 21 GT500 - 24 GR86 - and JUST recently, a 21 A91-CF SUPRA.
Truly enjoyed your video and learned a lot! -
Best wishes to you and your family and you gained a sub and thumbs up.
    Aesir -

I think your car collection is pretty cool. I owned a 86 Grand National when I was 17 and raced the shit out of it. The Merc Wagon is something I would have loved to drive. This GTR you have now is sweet. I live in Toronto and want a GTR. I own a 91 300zx twin turbo with 600 wheel hp. Doesn’t matter what you own it is the feeling you get when you work on it and drive it. Thanks for your video, if you want to sell that GTR let me know. Bring it back to Canada.

GTR was such a sensation when it came out (we've all watched that Top Gear episode). Then it was bashed by the media repeatedly over the past decade that I was subconsciously hating it. But now that I'm 15 years older and watching your video, I am in love again. Thanks for bringing back my youth! This is the first of your videos that I'm watching more than once because your joy is so genuine and contagious.

You do actually have to do some cycling of gears and a specific temperature to properly fill the transmission.
But in all honesty. You can overfill the GR6 by 2 qts and it's just fine and actually helps to prevent cavitation on launches and hard acceleration.
For Ecutek press and hold cancel then use the toggle up and down for cruise control to cycle between Maps.

    1. Ford Taurus Sho

    4. Infiniti Q50? But that might be to expensive.
He mentioned daily driver so I’m thinking probably the Sho.

27:54 You can get the air filters off by removing the coupler from the pipe on the other end, and then moving it back some, essentially pulling it out of the filter at the same time as pulling the filter off the pipe. Its a tricky process, but it most certainly Can be done with the bumper on. It may however be "easier" to Just take the bumper off.. Thats a matter of opinion.. I wouldnt recommend pulling on the bumper though, Japanese pint is notoriously weak. Idk if this holds true on GTR's but any other Japanese car has crappy factory paint.

Alex, a small advice. I heard you accelerated prior to shutting down the gtr. Don't do it on any turbo engine as you leave the turbos spinning fast and you cut off the lubrication on the turbo shafts and also the cooling if they are liquid cooled like on Mercedes. Wait 40 seconds of idle before shutting down. Let it reduce the speed and drain the heat before shutting down. Great mechs and I enjoy your adventures. Kind regards from Mexico.
