    CANDY APPLE CLEANING METHOD
    ____________________________
Small Batch (less than 12 candy apples):
    1. In a pot, mix 1/4 cup of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of salt.
    2. Bring the mixture to a boil.
    3. Using a utensil, carefully cover and rotate each apple in the cleaning mixture for 6 seconds.
    4. Take the apple out and place it on a dry paper towel.
    5. Use the paper towel to gently wipe off any wax, green dye, or dirt from the apple.
    6. Repeat this process for each apple for the next 24 to 48 hours.
    7. Let the apples sit for 24 to 48 hours to allow any remaining residue/wax to come to the surface and continue with Step 6.
    8. Once the apples are completely dry and residue/wax-free, they are ready to be dipped in the candy apple mixture.
Big Batch (12 candy apples or more):
    1. In a large pot, mix 1 cup of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of salt.
    6. Repeat this process for each apple, working in batches if necessary.
    7. Let the apples sit for 24 to 48 hours to allow any remaining residue/wax to come to the surface and continue with Step 6.
    8. Once all the apples are completely dry and residue/wax-free, they are ready to be dipped in the candy apple mixture.

Do you prefer using corn syrup or powdered corn syrup?

I like the liquid corn syrup, but if my candy apples are going to be outside I prefer the powdered corn syrup.💕

Hi I have a question diva. Should I use a sauce pot and should it be thick on the bottom?

Yes, it should be a pot with a thick bottom. The one I use is in the description box.💕

I can’t even get one batched done without my mixture getting hard to fast, let alone changing colors. Lol
I’m really not sure what it is now with my candy apples, because I’ve been making them for years. Not sure if my food coloring is old or if it’s my thermometer

I hollered when I read this😂😂😂. You may be putting in too much gel food coloring. Check the expiration dates on your gel food colorings too. I wouldn’t think it’s your thermometer because if that’s the case either the candy will be burnt or taffy from being undercooked. Use my 6-4-1 candy apple recipe and it should get you to the results you’re looking for. Try it and come back and let me know how things worked out for you.💕

On a more serious note. Have you actually tried 6-4-1 or you just haven’t gotten around to it? Don’t you dare give up.💕

Does your candy apple pot have a thick bottom or heavy bottom? I wonder if it's your pot as well or if it's just worn out. If possible, this is what I want you to do: Replace your candy apple pot, check the expiration dates on your gel food colorings. If your gel food colorings are expired throw them away and replace them. A new candy thermometer wouldn't hurt, although I don't think that's the issue. Don't be heavy handed on the gel food coloring either. As you know that causes candy apples to be thick too. Get a teaspoon and don't use no more than that amount. Try to use a drop or less than a teaspoon if possible.💕
