As stated on the Glenallachie website:
Crafted from a combination of the finest Speyside and Islay Single Malts, including aged GlenAllachie, Batch 1 of our Lum Reek 10-year-old is the perfect balance between peat and rich, fruity character.
The spirit was laid to rest in premium Spanish sherry casks, wine barriques and virgin oak casks at The GlenAllachie Distillery. As time passes, the flavours marry and extract additional characteristics from the wood, creating a deliciously sweet yet subtly smoky flavour profile.
Batch 1 of our 10-year-old is bottled at natural cask strength of 55.4% ABV, with no colour added and non chill filtered for maximum flavour.

I don't even bother looking for springbank as it is so hard to find. I have moved on to other things that are more attainable.
Found a 7/11/22 sb15 that’s pretty dark. Hoping it still has the same profile as this one. 91 big score now of days for you
Hope the same for you
I’ve got the same Nov 2022 batch unopened. Really looking forward to the day it gets cracked!
Wish I could find just 1 available let alone stockpiling. 🙂
They are a pain in the ass.
Great review Rob! Wish I could find a bottle here in Guam. Unfortunately, I’ll have to experience the joy of the Springbank 15 through your reviews. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
Send me your address to my email. I’ll try to get you a sample.
@@WhiskyInThe6 Wow 125$ that's a great deal even 150$ in a very good deal👍but I'm guessing at the LCBO it's about 200$ now which is about an average deal
This was easily my top 3 whiskey of this year! Kilkerran 16 was also great. So different but both were great
just did a back to back with my June 2022 and my 2023 that I got last month, the June 22 is a bit more sherry forward, but the 2023, while less sherry, has more tropical fruit and a touch more smoke. The quality is the same on both, I cant decide which I prefer, they're both amazing. I suppose it's a mood thing. I hope you can try the 2023, I think you'll be very impressed.
Have this exact batch Rob and it's lovely. I managed to grab a couple of these back when they came into Alberta because I saw the writing on the wall that this was too high quality to pass up and prices will only go up from here.
Amen
I've had 3 of those bottles. Lol. Just got the 2023. Not as good but still really good. I don't know what it was about that batch but it was phenomenal.
The term I use is "legendary". The 2022 Springbank 15s are going to go down as legendarily good. Haven't seen a 2023 release yet but that's how we get it in Alberta XD
I agree. Some of the best ever.
Great review, I still need to get my hands on any Springbank... One day soon. 😁
Yes you do
Remembering your first rev of this, hehe
That batch was sulphured.
Ah okey, have loved every 15 SB since 2017 but the one you have here is my fav of all time, agreed on your every word.
4:57 I can't imagine any previous batches are still available, other than the latest (which I think you'll love just as much). Unless you're talking about 2ndary .
Ya secondary unfortunately
Love the Springbank 15,I 6:01 MHO prefer this than the 10 or 12 CS
why are you putting a timestamp after the video is over? are you daft?
05.10.21 batch is also one of the darker 15s. Highly recommend it! Cheers boss
Nice!
Haven't bought one of those since I found a whole stack of the 10yr and 15yr at the Summerhill Lickbo. Probably around 2018/19....should have grabbed some backups! Stupid me!
Glad it's a quality bottle for you.
Love it.
I've got the Springbank 15 bottled on April 2022, it is pretty much the same color, it should be almost the same liquid than the january and june Releases. Good stuff.
Ya it seems that the late 2021 until June 2022 were the darkest releases in a while.
@@WhiskyInThe6september 22 is just as dark IMO
Have you tried the February 2023 batch (16.02.23)? I bought one - the last one they had - at Cadenhead’s Royal Mile in Edinburgh last August. £72. It’s dark but I don’t have a ‘22 to compare. But I do remember my first Springbank 15 back in 1997. Much, much paler. Must have been mostly bourbon back then.
I haven’t unfortunately
I recently got my hands on the latest 2023 Springbank 15. I think I've made some comment about how this is my top 5 fave whiskies of all time. The Springbank 2023 is exceptional. It's of the same quality as the 21 and 22. I think they are very careful with the 15 consistency, especially since springbank became as loved and sought after as they are around 2020.
Hey Rob great review of SB15. I managed to finally get my hands on a bottle a couple of months ago. You have me thinking about the release date. Fingers crossed it's Jan or June 2022. Cheers my man and thanks!
Great review Rob. I'm not a Springbank fan boy at all. Right now I'm all about Benromach, but I'm going to brag for a second. Sorry. About 3 months ago I entered a ballot on The Whisky Exchange for a 2023 release of Springbank 21. I've never been picked on any ballot I've entered, but I'll be damned!! I got picked and was able to get a bottle for $280. Shipping cost me $60. I haven't opened it yet. I've got too many open bottles to finish, but I'm definitely looking forward to it. Sláinte🥃
Enjoy buddy. Congrats.
Benromach CS is a very good sub!
@ahpadt Benromach CS is an incredible malt. They used to have a 10 Imperial Proof as well that was off the charts. At least for me it was.
Rob, good review and comparisons. Have only found a few bottles of the June 2019 15 year old. Love it. Would love to try an 18 year but well over 300 here.
18 has never been as good in my experience.
@@WhiskyInThe6The only 18s I've tried a much more delicate and effervescent. Very different style even if the funk is still there but you can tell it's starting to go away around that age.
my best whisky. STOP
Rob would you mind sharing the bottle codes? I have a SB15, 22/11 bottled 24 Jan 2022...sounds like the same one you mentioned. It took me so long to find that I've yet to open it...however after watching this it might be time to crack it open. 😇
Jan 24/22 is excellent. This one is June 2022
Hmm...I have a US release dated in between those two - 12.04.22. It is extremely dark as well, significantly more so than my 16.2.23 batch.
I believe all 2022 batches are heavily sherried. Should be similar to this June batch
The April is one of the few I didn’t get a chance at.
Hey Rob, great video appreciate your opinion I just picked up my first Springbank 15. It’ll probably be a little while before I open it but if it’s nearly as good as that one should be great.
Hope it’s a good one. Cheers.
I have a June 23. What do you score that? Never had the 22 or 21. Really hard to source in the States
Never tried that one.
I just came back from Scotland brought home a Springbank 15 how do I know what the date is ?
Black laser at the back of the bottle
😁🙌🏻
Cool, where can I get a bottle?
Depends where you live.
Is it the 16.06.22 one?
Yes
@@WhiskyInThe6 just grabbed me one of those 😍
If you can get that for sub CA$150 then buy me two. I can't touch one here in the US for less than CA$200, US$150 is a cheap price here. You don't want to know what an 18 goes for. 😺
The 18 isn’t worth it I don’t think.
Been searching for this bottle for years. Finally got my hands on the Feb 2023 edition (from YEG airport). Man, I hate to say it but I’m so so disappointed. It tastes really off. Completely unbalanced-can’t even call it a sherry bomb, it’s a sulphur bomb!
