Please don't take this too seriously. Building 4x4 rigs is supposed to be fun. Please help me keep it that way.
Amen.

Each time you mention the Suzuki Jimny, I have a big smile on my face. 😁
I laughed out loud at your intro! - but then... orange! Hmmmm... 🤔🤣
Too late now but IMHO 1959 VW Indigo Blue takes some beating (My Beetle WAS orange until I had it painted Indigo Blue)
Andrew, everyone in South Africa knows your favourite colour is pink and its right on time for Barbie mania!
So, if orange is out of the question, what about purple?
If orange is to much by itself, you could put purple racing stripes on it. Or perhaps polka dots! 👌 You won’t loose it in the parking lot!👍
Orange and black troopie would look awesome
Love the way you react Andrew & your facial expressions when you are upset ! so passionate & dramatic.
The fjcruiser came in an a beautiful shade of orange!
It was the only FJ colour I didn't like. The blue was nice.
I drive an orange FJ Cruiser and bloody love the colour. Suits the car I reckon being a unique (sometimes annoying) shape! But yeh not sure it would suit the 78 ayy. That being said I don’t judge a colour until I see it on the car.
Land Rover Orange for the G4 vehicles was an iconic colour
Still is love it.
Metallic Orange! With the roof in black. FJ style.
Orange is the new black😂😂😂😂
Lekker Andrew.
Im glad a didnt comment my suggestion wich was yellow with black GT stripes.
On fun and serious note :: Orange ( tiger orange or leopard orange or Lion orange ) is the best color for you to go closer to animals to take photos and easier for humans to spot you if you are lost in the wild 😊 .. scientifically animals doesn't see orange and your truck will blend into wild ( green or orange are same for mammals eyes )
Aren't humans mammals? Sorry but I am not sure if you're joking with your parenthetic comment.
@@zorbakaput8537 humans belong to different class..I mean seriously animals ( most mammals in wild except apes ) sees Orange/red or green as same..hence tigers, cheetas are red/orange ...so for deers they look like trees( green color). So I kind of said it in that sense :-) however, Sir Andrew can chose whatever color he likes
It's to do with their eye pingment layer and easy to spot an orange land cruiser in African bush from helicopter
Well said see I knew not all people look at orange as being a kids color.
I saw a documentary on that. It was crazy to see how prey animals don't see orange and how these apex preditors use orange to become invisible 🤔 maybe orange would have been a better Overlanding vehicle's color choice when driving through Africa... just saying should have known that Andrew with all those years in the bush....😮😊
I'm pretty impartial to the orange color. As an American Jeep owner who has to look at pink, yellow, maroon, etc. jeeps when driving past the mall, an orange 70 series seems reasonable. That being said, if I could buy a troopy in the states I wouldn't care what color it is, I just want one!
I didn't see the comments on the other video, but when you say orange, I immediately think RFS orange, which for me is an iconic Landcruiser colour (admittedly that is limited to Australia).
they are mostly talking the gawdy orange and black combo seen on Ford Raptors.
Ahh, yeah that wouldn't suit at all.@@4xoverland
There is also Pollux orange that is a retro 40 series color. Mostly sold in South America (but some made their way to North America) back then but a very nice color!
@@4xoverland No sir your schema pulled that generalization from a comment most were talking about classic and new Toyota oranges.
Ford has done a great job with its marketing for your mind to associate orange to it.
I was thinking pollux orange too but hey orange is orange even if its more of a rust color put on a pickup to blend in with all that "red" sand and dirt in Australia 😊
Choose one of the FJ cruiser colors with the white top. But choose a funky color. Have some fun !
Saw the title and immediately clicked so I could see a good old Andrew rant! Love it!! I also love the cadet blue although I'm surprised you didn't consider Paul's color idea.
Beige with some retro soft red and orange decals
I would like to see a Lunar Rock Troopy
Ah! I love that color! I’m actually thinking of having my Nissan Frontier painted that. Its about 10 years old and in perfect mechanical shape, but the exterior needs a refresh.
Your pick is the right choice. What an awesome build this will be!
You hit the nail on the head when you said “my Landcruiser” your car your rules ASPW
I can listen to Andrew and Paul talk for hours. I am excited for the podcast so I can work and become educated at the same time.
Orange is a proud color and is the color of my country “The Netherlands”. The color started when 14 year old Willem of Orange inherited a principality Orange (Area in France) from a nephew. This Willem of Orange started a 80 year freedom fight with Spain in the same time Spain tried to conquer England! He died in his efforts, but the fight goes on and we won our freedom. Over time Orange became a symbol color to unit the people of the Netherlands. Just look to supports of international Sports events and you find the Dutch supports easy. They wear Orange, and they proud to do it. It’s unite people and focus their dreams…..
Well said orange is a strong color. One of my favorites as is blue and green.
He prefers blue it's his suv. But we are not all 12 year Olds 😅
I want to be 12 again that would be so cool 😎
The Netherlands is an incredible country. Very intelligent people and friendly. 👍
Best opening line to all UA-cam videos this week, don’t ever change Andrew 😂
Great choice! Both colors are absolutely stunning on the classic trucks, and will work on your "new" truck as well. I would have gone for the blue as well, through green is usually not a color I am attracted to on a vehicle, that lighter green is stunning. I have a '63 Volvo P1800 that I am restoring myself from the tail to nose (back to bare metal, fix everything and then paint it). I purposely chose to go to a single stage paint. It just looks different than modern color / clear coat and one a classic car, that just isn't right. As a bonus the single stage paint is easier for DIY in my home garage. The car a deep dark gray. It suits the car very well. There are many modern cars that offer gray, but generally it just looks boring. Congrats on the progress with this project. I look forward to seeing it come to completion.
For years I was dreaming of a Cadet Blue 40 series. These days I have decided on a 2024 78 series Auto 4cyl for a world tour, 25 years in the planning. Your new paint will be the first Cadet Blue Troopie that I will have ever seen so I'm pretty excited about this. Itching to see the results.
So why was the dream tourer orange 😂
I must have been 12 :-)
the irony
Giggle Giggle 😂😂😅 from a fellow 12 yr old. Of course next year I'll be more mature and go for Battle born in blue who through their support have made this comment possible.......wait sorry wrong comment section 😅 😐 😬 😊
The secret is out Andrew loves Orange 🍊 as long as Ford Australia stops using their ugly version of orange on their Rangers. So instead he is secretly protesting by making his Toyota Ford blue.😉👍
Mr. Andrew please keep doing you. It's what keeps us viewers entertained. 😊
Good choice. I too like the Cadet Blue. It'll look wicked on the Troopy.
Niiiice. Great colour choice. Like I said in the previous video comments: I love the green but that blue... it just looks so good!
I also enjoyed the rant!
Blue was a good choice but I also love that green!
Damn I wish I was rich enough to care about color that much.
Andrew, methinks orange is better than pink, Pink Panther pink, that is. 😂😂
I love your sense of humor! 😂 Brilliant 🥂
I’m old. I love orange. I wouldn’t tell someone else to paint their 4x4 orange. You have to love that colour. Having said all that my Landy is white because I don’t give a darn and it is what it was when I bought it, warts and all. Also I still can’t work out if you have gone for Kaydette Blue or Cadet Blue.
Love it👍 neither can I.
it's blue he likes it .
👍
Agree, anything but a metallic !! Personally I am leaning more to a green if blue is the only alternative.
I’m sorry Andrew, you have made a mistake in choosing the blue. I expected you to see common sense and go the green. I wish to inform you that I will not be washing or polishing this vehicle whilst it is blue.
Sometimes in life it’s good to act ones shoe size, chill out more take a step back and relax, blue wow you need to get out more , you have such a innovative mind when it comes to the inside, the outside needs that also.
On behalf of all of us that drive dark “graphite” grey Land Cruisers, in my case a 76 Series, thanks for the insult. 😊
Hey Andrew, I’m a little bit older than you but it is safe to say that we’ve both had many vehicles over the decades. Vehicle paints have come a long way since I bought my first car (used) in the 1970’s but I found that my white vehicles survived the ravages of the sun’s UV and weather the best. Red looks great new but fades too much. Dark colours absorb the heat. There are problems with white too. One time I took some English relatives out see our cousins on the farm here in western Canada. On the way there was a cattle drive down the secondary road and needless to say, my beautiful white car was plastered with cow pies. When we got to the farm my cousin laughed out loud and told me to wash it off right away, that stuff stains like acid. Sure enough, as hard as I scrubbed, the brown stains were permanent! Another quick story. In South Africa I rented a white vehicle to drive around for a month. Having been all over Africa on various overland trips over the years, I couldn’t stick to the bitumen. Starting in Kruger Park, I drove this white rental car all around the red dirt tracks. Before I returned the car I took it for a wash. Try as I might, I don’t think I could get all the red dirt and dust off the paint or the rubber door and window gaskets. Rule No. 1 for white vehicles - keep them on the pavement! The blue you have chosen will look great!
Im absolutly in love with the dark Green we have in Europe on the old kzj 73. I've never seen it anywhere helse on any model. It even look Black if your not on a sun place. Its darker than the 80 series Green. And it not become super hot on the sun like my Black one.
Was Lime Green not a choice?
Welcome to the club! magnificent choice 💙
1:06 Bush color update most game cant see Orange 🍊 so definitely blends in my friend 😊
love orange my fav color like the m&m orange
Thank you.
👍🍊🦘
but it will blend into the setting sun every time every where.
For me: "Any color as long as it is white". In Africa all the guides have white Toyotas HDI105. I think is the right color, especially in hot countries. Greetings from Italy!
Yes, Andrew, cadet blue is perfect for your Troopy
Hi from the UK.
I used to have a dark metallic grey Ford. I would spend hours walking around car-parks trying to remember which one was mine.
Orange stops radar and weapons lock.I thought everyone knew that. I would like to add, wheel spinning an orange truck in a gravel car park is a sure way to know if it’s capable of a worldwide tour and it definitely makes women’s underwear disappear. That’s a FACT according to my mates next door neighbours uncle. 😊
😅😂😅 love it like I love orange 🧡 🍊 😊
The strongest color out there 🍊💪
Andrew is the classic opinionated grumpy old man. He is hilarious (“don’t take this too seriously”) when we all know he is dead serious. He provides some good info along with an unintentional good laugh!
Good choice! I really love the color blue. In fact blue and green are my favorite colors also yellow and i like black but not everything black.
Supposedly the color blue is supposed to be calming and promote clear thought it is supposed to effect a person mentally in a positive way the feeling it gives off versus other colors that effect people physically or negatively. Im not really into that sort of thing but i thought it was interesting when i heard it because i do like blue a lot and i could somewhat relate to that.
Your awesome Andrew! I really like your reactions. I think the blue will be wonderful.
The Troopy should look incredible in the Blue. Bravo.
What about burnt orange
As a Dutchman I can only say, make it orange 😉. In the serious side, dark olive.
Hi Andrew. Hope to see you on the road somewhere in Perth some day. I am getting around in my Range Rover Classic daily now. If you spot me, it’s…dark metallic grey 😅
I had my Jeep Wrangler JL wrapped in 3M Military Matte Green. I’m just finishing up a 3 month tour of Canada and parts of Alaska . The Jeep looks Fantastic , and this is born out through all the positive comments, thumbs up , conversations that have started because of how it looks , both colour and how it is built . It looks Safari !!!! As I’ve been told over and over again .
Cheers Wild Bill , from deepest Canada 🇨🇦… and not Canadia … brother … sure you’re not 12 lol 😝 just kidding .
I’ve wondered if the Toyota merlot red would look as good in a troopy as it does on the 76 series
I had a Lexus LS 400 from around 1988, it was a dark gold. It never ever looked dirty, mud ,sand never showed up. Best colour for me .
4:48 - Your stomach got disappointed with your statement XD
Orange is not boring and
orange will stand out !
I didn't say orange was boring. I said something else.
Yes orange is for Ford Rangers and 12 yr olds Grey was boring 😴 🙄 😑 😒
😮
@@4xoverland no you do not look 12 but gray green boring you might as well 6 ft under
Love the cadet blue and the dark olive. I would stay non-metallic and with a retro LC color.
Glade you went with cadet blue.
That is very close to my truck blue streak
Wait your truck is a Ford right ✅ 😳 🤔 👀 😂 🤣 ✅ Gotta love the irony in that.👍
Hello andrew, colour I like is mud brown, white roof, black trim. Martin in Norfolk uk.
Cadet Blue will look nice! You can always paint your new 70 Series w/ 2.8 liter diesel; auto the green color. Yes I agree completely- your LCs look better painted vs wrapped.
Different subject but- I’m really curious what tire you will go with. 225/95/R16 is a nice size and looks proper- but I don’t know if there’s a better tire available in that size (BF KM3/ KO2)? If not- will it be 255/85R16? I am biased towards a skinny tire.. especially with that vintage color.
hey andrew any idea how long they are making you wait for your auto troopy?
Green seems more like a traditional color for you as you’ve done a couple already. However, with your choice of cadet blue, I’m very interested to see the outcome of that color, especially in the sunlight.
Do I look 12? hahaha that made laugh. My 12 year old wants everything orange!! he even asked to have his bedroom painted orange. We said: No 😂🤣 I like white if I'm honest, keeps the heat away, although my patrol is silver but I couldn´t find on in white at the time. What I do like from the silver colour is that it blends in and doesn´t call attention. Very nice cadet blue you have chosen by the way
Your 12 year old is Dutch, and he wants to surround himself with the proud Dutch color…..
@@alberte58 sounds like it 😂
I'm having the exact same dilemma. 1992 75 series troopy. Originally it's red but I want to change to a non metallic classic colour as I think it'll suit the shape of the old troopy. It would also suit the new shape aswell since it has a retro look to it. I'm leaning towards mustard yellow or a brown colour. Cadet blue is real nice aswell
I thought Paul & the paint guy had said you'd settled on pink!😂
Sir Andrew please look at maroon color land cruiser classic! I think It's called indian red T-1277. Thanks hello from Texas 🇺🇲
Your the one who lives with it. Happy trails
Get yourself a farrow and ball colour swatch and check out Stone Blue or Yeabridge Green
Toyota had a colour called Kalahari Sand... it was a metalic colour released for the Hilux in the late 1980's I think that would stand out if maybe you can have a tone made non metallic.
Lunar Rock would be pretty cool and unique.. its a North America Toyota flavor but its a really good one for those that want non metallic pastel color
I love the old Judson green
Wasn't the dream tourer orange? I do like cadet blue look forward to the finished paint job. Thinking about doing our white y61 with cadet blue mud guards, bumper etc similar to the super safari colour scheme.
I only picked orange only because your last few builds have been aither green or grey and orange is fun it will really be different ....rangers aside i didnt think of them
I vote for an Electric Hot Pink,
(awaitin' the howls of indignation from behind the Black Stump)
I like the Espresso Brown that Prado comes in. Blue is a good choice though. I got Glacier White. I call it the Iceberg.
Glacier white, being a solid colour, is the most durable colour because it doesn’t have a clear coat like the metallics and pearl colours do, which are a long time especially if the car hasn’t been garaged and not washed regularly will have the clear coat start disintegrating.
G4 land rovers where good in orange
Safety orange with purple racing stripes over the bonnet and roof on 21" chrome rims with low profile tyres and doof doof stereo Lol
Not sure the blue will fit with black bullbar/tirecarrier. We'll see, or are you going to paint in another color aswell?
I suppose Orange could be considered an acceptable safety colour but would not be my choice either. I have a 105 series in silver that I really like but if I was going to choose a colour to respray it, I rather like a KIA colour that I saw on one of their 'Stingers'. It is a solid grey, approximately 30% grey.
I’ve always bought whatever Landcruiser is the best condition and price, then driven it, regardless of colour. Seriously, colour ? It’s a Landcruiser mate.
It’s your car, you done a few greens. The blue will look amazing also different 👍👍
The best thing about an orange Ford Ranger is you can see it coming far away and pull off the road until it passes (at 300km/h).
when I was a kid, my next door neighbor had a blue land cruiser with a white top. I loved that land cruiser, and when I was 16, I asked him if he would be willing to sell it, he said $20k. I told him I wouldn't insult him with my counter offer. I think that that color was called bright blue in the Toyota land cruiser back then.
Good choice. Cadet Blue will be great.
I think you will go with a Blue of sorts . Please remind us what did you call the colour on the DREAM TOURER - - - ??? Def some Orange in there somewhere ??
😉🍊👍
Hell no to orange. I'm a American living in Colombia and was introduced to the 70 series here. They have factories here and Venezuela and there's a huge amount of the old 40-70s here. I really enjoy your videos. Until next time
At the start of this vid I was going to say Olive green, then got to 3.50. The other option was going to be camel.
What about some kind of red or plum?
Please 😂😂 no Ford Ranger colour, good choice Andrew, go for it, can't wait for the end product
One big thing You must take in to consideration as a videographer is color theory, color of the car should blend but also subtle stands out, from the enviroment. So it looks good on photos :)
So true 👍
Where do you find the various vintage Toyota colors?! I’ve tried looking them up and haven’t found the location you found them at….

What is the color of the Australian V8 Troopy before you wrapped it in battleship grey? Is that not also cadet blue?
Its called midnight blue which is a darker colour than cadet blue.
@@philg2468OK, I see. Interesting. Almost like a navy blue then?
Ironically I have nothing against blue, my trustworthy old Nissan (from before the fatal Renault merger) is in a light-ish metallic blue. (Called Frosted Blue by Nissan), and the car looks really really good in that color.
They look extremely dull and boring in white, and would look terrible in orange. People would think I'm 12 years old. Lol
It's just that I ❤ed the Dream Tourer's color a lot, and the channel's logos are in Orange.
It ultimately is up to Andrew to choose the color he likes, it's his vehicle, and his choice. I'll fall in line with the blue, what's more interesting is ultimately the expeditions that he undertakes. 😊💕😁🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
@@labourlawact7826 Yes but Dream tourer was in the past logos no one looks at them. Color choice in a logo doesn't matter 😅😂😊
@@livingworkingoutsidebox nice.
Cadet Blue is beautiful!
Cadet Blue! I somehow feel as though I’ve won something! I came to this party late.
Right so it hasnt been painted yet, which means there is still time to change your mind to orange?
Silly question? But it is well know that the tsetse fly is attracted to bright colors, very dark colors, metallic fabric, particularly the colors blue and black. Why then select blue?
Bright colours? First I have heard of that. In my experience they like shade and dark coloured clothing. This blue is anything but bright. We will see.
Now Andrew call me mad, but what about Bronze Green. Yes, its a Land Rover colour but Ive seen a troopy in Namibia with a similar green and its pretty great!
The choice of a colour is surely important, I personally base my choice on practicality, so if I am using the vehicle like a Landcruiser for overlanding the old brown beige was always my preferred colour. For my daily car I would also choose a white. For my sportscar I will indeed choose a dark grey( its beautiful). But its very personal, the cars has always been more important to me than the colour. But not black, thats out for me, I feel about black as you feel about the orange.
Sports cars need to be red😊
@@labourlawact7826 thats also fine.
