  • You've probably heard the saying that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. Do airplanes not care about flying quickly to their destination or what? What's up with all the weird and curved flight paths airplanes take to their destination? All will be explained in this video!

Always knew they flew in curved paths because of a round earth, but this helped me learn more about why it appears this way. Thank you! Do you around the distance a flight path would begin to look curved on a map?

@@LuxPlanes Yeah, sorry poorly written with lots of typos 😂 for shorter flights (usually under 3 hours) the lines on flight radar will appear mostly straight. Do you know (about) how long a flight would have to be for the lines to be visibly curved?

It's not that the earth is flat but the fact that planes have to fly in a straight and not towards the ground or toward space because they they will crash. So while earth is not flat there is some sort of imitation of flatness going on.

      Airplanes DO fly straight.
Jeppesen Flight Charts are two dimensional maps that have straight WAY POINTS.
Flight plans contain WAY POINTS ..... A to B ......B to C .... And so on.
Auto Pilot & Air Traffic Control directives & corrections work with exact constant Course Headings from a 360-degree circle of a magnetic north compass.
If airplanes really flew like the moronic indoctrination video (above)
the correct course HEADING would be constantly changing throughout the flight.

Have you noticed a decrease in UFO/Alien data-info-videos the past 5-7 years?
I have. Mostly documentary reruns or compilations of old incidents. Very little new material. I think I know why. The Flat Earth movement/reality made popular and prominent UFO-ologists look stupid. A UFO expert should probably know, first & foremost, the correct shape of earth. Don't you think?

For those who are not going to check the full video (and yes, i totally agree because it is boring to watch) The reason why is that is, is because there is jet streams (Between cold and warm place) where the winds pushes objects in the sky, and this applies to planes, they use this to save fuel.
The thing about jet streams is that jet steams are mostly only common in winter months so there’s no point right? No, Air Traffic Control towers (ATC), ATC are usually not placed in a straight line, and ATCs or Airports would be scattered in different directions, so the planes have to usually go approach the ATCs nearest to the straight path to the destination for communication with the ground incase of a emergency, similar to checkpoints like in car racing games or car rally games.
(Extras) This is also to prevent planes from colliding into each other

If you set your route by setting the plane to fly a constant compass heading, say 270 due West, does that give you the shortest route or does it just follow the same Latitude you’re already on? How does the plane fly a great circle route? Thank you, Dr. J.
